Talk:Caleb Maupin
Moonies[edit]
He's apparently teamed up with the Moonies recently. Chillpilled (talk) 19:35, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Claim that he ignores climate change[edit]
I think this may not be strictly true. I watched a lot of the Sophie/Thought Slime stream about Satan at the Fountainhead and they claim he doesn't mention climate change in the book. But I seem to remember he alluded to it, mentioning "the planet heating up". I think he's not a climate change denier. I didn't realize this was at issue or I would've noted what page this was on somewhere, but: it's in there somewhere. Chillpilled (talk) 16:21, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Hearts of Iron mod[edit]
I didn’t know he was in an HOI4 portrait mod. Perhaps if you play as USA and make it Communist? --Goatspeed. Fossil evidence of my evolutionCircularRasoningPrototype lab 07:41, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
Sex Pestering.[edit]
So this is ‘Rationalwiki’ I’m reading, correct? And not, ‘People with an axe to grind against someone else wiki’? Because to be honest, there's little ‘rational’ about these ‘allegations’ that emerged about Caleb Maupin, unless you consider glorified gossip to be of rational value. And I’d have thought that a rational approach to gossip like this might be to proceed with more caution against the gossiper than the gossiped about.
These 'allegations' would hardly stand up in court (although Maupin might have a viable slander case) and they don't stand up to any rational scrutiny. The only concrete evidence of anything that has emerged that is not hearsay is that Maupin likes to be spanked in the privacy of his bedroom. What ‘rational’ value is there in revealing this the world? Sex scandals like this are usually the preserve of the tabloids or the rightwing.
So, Maupin forced someone into sex work?? How does one adult force another adult with agency into sex work?? Makes no sense. Why couldn't they just say no and/or leave? That's what you should do if you join a political organisation and they ask you to go on the streets to raise cash. Also, anyone actually consider that it might have been the capitalist system that economically coerced this anonymous accuser (the anonymous bit being quite illuminating) into sex work and not Maupin who never promised them a living wage to join his political organisation, and unlike many ‘cult’ leaders, is not a wealthy individual himself?
Oh yeah, we’ve also learned that Caleb texted something about taking kids out to the woods. If you want to view the world through the lens of tabloid outrage, this can appear much more sinister than it needs to be. By kids, I'd wager he didn’t mean children but young adults with their own agency. And so what if they met in the woods – humans have been doing this for thousands of years.
Generally, his detractors seem to be alleging that Maupin is an a$$hole. Well, maybe he is, maybe he isn’t - a$$holes exist in every organisation. And there are channels for dealing with them that are far more prudent than creating internet drama and gossip - try the Harvard 5 Conflict resolution strategies for example. — Unsigned, by: 137.43.106.63 / talk / contribs

But (unless your real name is Arcadium Trancefer) you didn't really sign your comments. So why should I sign mine? — Unsigned, by: 137.43.106.63 / talk / contribs
Foreign connections (with Russia and Iran)[edit]
Right, so whoever wrote this section is likely based in the United States and has their tongue shoved far up the b*tt of the NATO establishment narrative, even if they don't entirely know it. If they existed in the 50s, they'd be seeing reds under the bed. So if Caleb Maupin worked for say, the BBC or RTE instead, would they be mentioning his foreign connections to Britain or Ireland in such an accusatory manner. And I can't help but find something a teeny weeny bit xenophobic about the use of the term 'foreign' in this instance. Are you sure Rationalwiki is as rational as it claims to be?? — Unsigned, by: 137.43.106.63 / talk / contribs
Oh, you mean The Zelensky regime, that paragon of humans rights and transparency said Maupin was a Russian propagandist?! What more proof do we need then. It must be true! https://www.occrp.org/en/project/the-pandora-papers/pandora-papers-reveal-offshore-holdings-of-ukrainian-president-and-his-inner-circle That you would regard someone critical of NATO, arguably the most violent organisation in terms of foreign policy since the Nazis (ask the people of Libya of Afghanistan), as a deranged tankie must be the most liberal version of 'America, F**k yeah!' I've ever heard. But serious questions. As long as we live in a world of nation states, we're all foreigners right? Now I assume Rationalwiki is something of a borderless website, objectively geopolitically neutral. So does this mean 1)An Iranian or Russian has the right to get a VPN, edit rationalwiki and accuse a BBC journalist of being British propaganda? 2)Can a Libyan or Afghan accuse Rationalwiki of being United States centric propaganda because many of you 'have little issue with NATO', yet you are critical of other 'foreign' regimes? — Unsigned, by: 137.43.106.63 / talk / contribs
You can unwelcome me all you want, doesn't really matter because I'm kinda done here anyway on "rational"wiki. If you can't see why British state media is as egregious as Russian state media or the dangers of a genocide machine like NATO, there's not much more I can do to help you. Maybe get out of your Global North bubble and spend a good chunk of time travelling the Global South and talking to the people there about geopolitics - hopefully you won't come away thinking they are all trolls or tankies (although I'm not optimistic about this). --78.16.60.126 (talk) 18:52, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
113 journalists have been offed in Gaza since October. The British state is complicit in these killings, probably even provided some of the guns to assassinate them. The British state also deliberately bombed an unarmed Serbian state TV station in 1999, no doubt offing and injuring journalists. But if the BBC doesn't off its own journalists, its cos it doesn't need to - they're not journalists, they're stenographers. Watch Noam Chomsky point this out to a BBC stenographer - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chomsky+andrew+marr (although you enlightened Rationalwikipedians probably think Chomsky is a "tankie" cos it spares you from having to think any further). Or here where this BBC stenographer gets a dose of truth about the persecution of Assange for doing actual journalism https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9s6YggbTk4 . So yes, the BBC is a propaganda outlet, whether as 'literal' a one or not, I'm not sure - it's not a competition as regards the original point I was making which is getting a bit lost. In fact, if I were a Gazan in the midst of the Gaza genocide with access to the news, I would sooner go to RT or Press TV to get an honest report of my situation. If that makes them authoritarian state propaganda news outlets for being more honest re the Gaza genocide, then what does it make the BBC?? --78.16.60.126 (talk) 22:57, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
