"Anonymous User" (I notice how you hide behind an alias), someone who pretends to have expertise about something should be blocked when he is posting incorrect statements under the pretense of expertise. I've analyzed your unconcise replies and you fail to mention what you find most inspiring about Columbus, such as his independent thinking, so anyone with an open mind can see that you're wrong. I urge you, I beseech you, I beg you: accept that classroom prayer prevents atheism. Got news for you: conservative information is truthful. Tell me, did you work for the tobacco industry in denying that cigarettes cause cancer? Read my posting below and contribute to this encyclopedia, or go rant somewhere else.--Aschlafly 01:11, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

Nice work :) ħuman 00:05, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, nice corrections. --Concernedresident 18:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, by the way, whenever you fix a hyphen or two to mdash, can you also make sure there's a space before and after it? I think that looks better. If I'm wrong, just let me know. ħuman 03:06, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- I do prefer that a space come before and after each mdash. What say you? ħuman 04:14, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Either one's correct, but I'll put spaces before and after them for consistency. --GastonRabbit 15:43, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Internet[edit]
I've noticed you capitalising "internet all over. It's not a proper noun as far as I know & would seem to warrant lower case. I am eating & honeychat 17:38, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Dictionary.com and Wikipedia both capitalize Internet, indicating that it is a proper noun. Firefox's spell-checker also indicates that it's misspelled without the capital I. --GastonRabbit 17:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Mmm so I see. Dunno if I like it but you're probably right. I am eating & honeychat 17:45, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's a proper noun when referring to *the* Internet, but a regular noun when referring to an internet. This isn't a perfect example, but it's like the difference between the Sun (our sun) and a sun (no specific star). Douglas Comer uses that approach in his Internetworking with TCP/IP series, and those are classic texts for networking geeks. --Concernedresident 22:50, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- While my preference for it being lower case is strong, I have been ignoring GR's capping of it all over the place. It's one of those windmills I probably don't need to joust until it limps away in fear of my mighty tilting skilz. Of course, what we call the "Internet" is really the World Wide Web, isn't it? ħuman 00:15, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, it's a windmill. Most people don't seem to make the distinction between internet and Internet. The World Wide Web isn't the Internet, but it'd seem pretty pedantic to push that point in the context of RW articles, unless RW becomes a resource for homeschooler CS students. --Concernedresident 00:22, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Could be that Internet's easier to say than World Wide Web (incidentally, WWW consists of more syllables than World Wide Web despite consisting of less letters). --GastonRabbit 01:03, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- When was the last time you heard some heavy smoker chuff out "World Wide Web"? Years ago, people gave web sites on ads or whatever as "http:/www//\\///someshite.com", then there came "trip dubs"pukeysite.com, now it's just somecruft.com. Dubyadubyadubya or not, it's still teh internet. Just because it's a place, person, or thing doesn't mean it's a proper noun. I don't care what some lame internet sites think. ħuman 04:25, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think I've heard anyone (at least recently) refer to it as the World Wide Web. Typically just Internet will do. The WWW thing I mentioned could be why (something).com is more commonly said than www.(something).com. --GastonRabbit 15:35, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
