Nice to see you back TOP! ħumanUser talk:Human 21:26, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. Thanks very much. What have I missed? TheoryOfPractice 21:30, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Andy on the radio, transcribed last weekend. CP hit 100,000,000 pageviews early this AM, but Andy thinks it's deceit. Hmmm, what else? Oh, yeah, Ace and Slutty got drunk and compared belts. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:32, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
My belt is way better. Andy got hammered in a discussion with Addison regarding the age of the earth. See CP Talk:Old Earth for all the hilarity. Ace McWickedi9 21:38, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and CUR left to start his own wiki, Which would be hilarious if we new what is was called. Ace McWickedi9 21:45, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Good times all 'round. Amazing how much can go on "over there" with little fundamentally changing as a result. And wikicur should be interesting. Can't wait to ignore it. TheoryOfPractice 21:49, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah CUR flounced off after Human, Nutty and I trashed his bar and turned it into this clusterfuck. A good day that was, you were missed. How was Africa? I am heading over there to see the migration in a year or so. Ace McWickedi9 21:55, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
(EC) A troll hit the Christian Science talk-page fairly hard, hacking up fantastic amounts of invective and causing Tmtoulouse to put forth an extensive rebuttal of somebody's crank-video. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 21:56, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

That Bar page is priceless. A true work of art. Africa was...intense. I'm still trying to process a lot of what I saw/experienced. Came back short 13 kilos of body weight (after about five weeks or so...and not due to healthy diet and exercise...) and a very expensive camera and very confused as to what to say about what was in many ways a rather difficult experience. TheoryOfPractice 22:01, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Yeah CUR wasn't too impressed. We only trashed as he did a typical CUR thing and created a page, called it "The Weeping Lion" and said that it was his and his rules applied. That kinda led to his demise. Difficult experience eh? Enjoyable though I take it? Ace McWickedi9 22:06, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Parts were very enjoyable. Parts were a bit of a horrorshow. Like I said, still trying to process a lot of it. Sorry to miss CUR's demise though. As one great Canadian politico said when his rival quit: "I'm sad to see him go. He made things more interesting. Not better, but more interesting...." TheoryOfPractice 22:20, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
He'll be back. Just as soon as he is finished builing therianapedia. Ace McWickedi9 22:28, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Clarification--I didn't know CUR was gone when I came back--I got wind of it pretty quickly though. And so my plans to vaporize Felidae and Cheetah should be put on hold? TheoryOfPractice (talk) 22:18, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

What, weren't you there when someone vaped them and CUR got so pissed he came back? --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 22:20, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I believe I was around when something like that happened. But since he now thinks we're a giant "cliche," maybe he's not looking. I'm just trying to figure out whether it would be better to do it now when we're already in HCM over the Marcus Cicero thing, thereby causing a Total Wiki Implosion, or to wait a bit and do it when things are quieter. 22:23, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh, go ahead, blow up the wiki. That's part of the RW experiment, to see how much damage it can survive. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:27, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

You let MC out of the vandal bin, and now you have to waste your time cleaning up after him. Why couldn't you just have left him there? The guy is a tedious troll, far worse than our present spam bot problem. What is wrong with limiting how often he can troll us? --JeevesMkII The gentleman's gentleman at the other site 22:30, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

You might be right--but it strikes me as somewhat unfair that people are feeding the troll and poking him with a stick when he could only post once every half-hour. Not a fair fight. If I were still a bureaucrat, I might have sysopped him so he could unblock/unbin himself and fight a fair fight. I've only been back on-wiki for a week or so, and so there may be a lot I've missed, but it strikes me that as much as MC has been a troll, some people seem to have revelled in aggravating the situation....TheoryOfPractice (talk) 22:34, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
You are a 'crat, TOP, I recratted you t'other day. This message brought to you by: Toastrespondand honey 00:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Thats why I intercomed to ignore him. But I still gave him a sanity block. Ace McWickedi9 22:37, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Totally reasonable. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 22:38, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I disagree with your logic for letting MC out of the VB. Let us assume we have a user who is being deliberately disruptive and is put in the vandal bin. Every time such a user makes a post they are likely to generate a number of replies, though their own rate of reply would be limited by the vandal bin. This is inevitable.
However, if we followed your argument then we would have to constantly let them out of the vandal bin in order to reply. Even worse, you seem to be suggesting that we would have to make them sysops in order to let themselves out. Essentially the VB would lose all meaning and purpose. If people want to get out of the VB they know what they have to do.--BobNot Jim 07:28, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
MC was pretty hectic and troublesome. He never had anything really to add that wasnt atagonistic. And recently, with his harping on about a secret forum and now this asylum bit....well, I reckon its gone far enough. I think we have seen enough of his character to assume that if we let him out of the vandal bin the best we'll get is a torrent of abuse. And its pretty annoying to dutifully revert his vandalism whilst just igoring him, someone is bound to snap. I reckon keep him in the vandal bin. Ace McWickedi9 08:55, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Agree with Ace, leave him in the bin. If he wants out, he can start being productive, otherwise don't bother. I will note that when Jeeves put him there in the first place, MC said it was legitimate, so there's another vote for binning. Blocking on the other hand, I'd be against. --Kels (talk) 15:03, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Which is why I just undid a year-long block that some jerk just dropped on him. there is a procedure to be followed for these things, no? TheoryOfPractice (talk) 15:04, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

That bothers you, yes? --Kels (talk) 16:01, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, we prefer the bin but block if it's extreme (and this isn't really that bad, it's "mostly harmless" trolling) it should be in the community standards, if anyone can remember that. I think the only time anyone thought of using it was against Fall Down. However since he used proxies, it sort of didn't matter about blocking anyway. Scarlet A.pngpostate 15:10, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

To Bob, Ace and Human....[edit]

Bob's right, you know. So is Ace. ħumanUser talk:Human 08:59, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Upon reflection, I think Bob, Ace and Human are right--with the proviso that people stop poking MC with a stick. Most people in the bin are there for clearcut vandalism and are promptly forgotten, so there's no need to think about the need for them to address what people are saying to/about them--not the case with MC. And I'm not sure if rude comments like MC's placed on talk pages count as vandalism--it's not like he threatened to rape a user a la Fall Down. And I'd still rather deal with 10 MCs than one CUR. But I'll follow the consensus and keep him in the bin....— Unsigned, by: TheoryOfPractice / talk / contribs .
Actually my point was about TOP's logic for releasing MC from the VB. I'm not 100% convinced that he should be there either but as it was his actions which got him in there in the first place I don't find myself having too much sympathy for his plight.--BobNot Jim 14:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I am not convinced either, but a few days in the bin won't kill him. There needs to be a "cooling off" period. tmtoulouse 14:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Whether or not he's a vandal may be up for debate but a review of his posts puts him firmly as a Troll. Look at the time and effort we're spending on him, he's just loving all this. We could just ignore him but it's a lot easier if he spends some time in the vandal bin. Silver Sloth (talk) 14:45, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Feeding the troll (MC)[edit]

Since I was only around when it started, would the fact that I blocked him for 20 minutes and told him to stop trolling before shit hit the fan be considered feeding the troll, or would that considered reasonable, just for future reference (I am new to actually dealing with trolls). The Goonie 1 (talk) 06:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

The unfortunate thing about trolls is they feed off any acknowledgement of their existence good or bad. Blocking him gives him what he wants, he wants to show what is wrong with RW so he acts like as big of a dick as possible and then says "you blocked me, your just as bad as Conservapedia". Just let him throw a fit quite by himself and revert his vandalising mainspace edits without comment. - π 06:21, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Alrighty. Like I said, that was the first time I have actually ever dealt with a troll, so I look to you guys (and gals) who've actually dealt with them before for guidance on dealing with them. Thanks for the input. The Goonie 1 (talk) 06:34, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pi. I prefer the comment Don't feed the Troll, because it can be placed after every troll edit. If we put the box after every comment then the page will soon fill up with boxes. Something smaller might work though.--BobNot Jim 11:11, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, in my opinion yes. What about a little bit of text below the pic? Beyond my ability though.--BobNot Jim 12:02, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Surely, putting "don't feed the troll" under every trolling post is, erm, feeding the troll... Scarlet A.pngpostate 12:04, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I would say not. Feeding the troll is responding and debating with it. The post is a way of responding without encouragement while at the same time reminding others of the action to take (or rather not take).--BobNot Jim 12:07, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... we should test this theory. Scarlet A.pngpostate 12:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, another good reason for the Don't feed the Troll post is that it acts as an explanation for new or casual readers for the fact that a particular poster's posts are not being responded to.--BobNot Jim 12:18, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

OK. Sorry! I am very sorry about what I've done. I was so angry, worried, and concerned about the book that I tried to do, write, say, and ask things quickly and excessively without thinking or paying much attention to what others might respond or react disapprovingly or what they might do.

That article is not important. It is not important to me. It is not important to me any more.

The same is for everything else I wrote, said, or asked about humanism and its criticisms. I promise I won't ask or write anything much about, on, or to do with humanism or anything against it any more.

I'm just asking should I be worried or concerned about the book? How worried or concerned should I be? What should I do?

If not the book, then what about criticims of secular humanism in general? Should I be worried or concerned about the book? How worried or concerned should I be? What should I do?

I'm just asking this one thing now.

The CP angle's got quite a bit of momentum going in that direction and hasn't quite realised and accepted that it's more or less dead and finished now. For now though, I think killing any needless' Conservapedia references in the mainspace is a very good idea. Along with beer, obviously, but it's a little late for that GMT. Not that it really matters, but....[edit]

Just for yucks, I made you an admin over at WikiSynergy, so you can edit there now. In fact, everyone of us RationlWikians can edit there now, since we have all been made admins over there. Not that it matters, though.Lord of the Goons 14:08, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

sysop[edit]

Why make him a sysop, its not a matter of "saying things we dont like" its the fact that he is a abusive little shit kicker. Ace McWickedModel 500 02:00, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah. He is. That's not fun to you? He's more fun to kicka round than CUR--at least he kicks back. TheoryOfPractice 02:27, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Hush your mouth ToP. CUR was waaaay more fun because he was totally earnest and completely clueless unable to understand what he was doing to piss everyone off - I wonder if he wound up creating his own wiki?. MC is just a bitch. Ace McWickedModel 500 02:36, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

I'll make it clear that I have no interest in being a sysop, though I admire TOP's integrity. How anyone can stand for what The Emperor has done (Protecting his userpage and all that) is beyond me. So much for having archives and not allowing individual users to delete material on their talk page. Face it, you live in a bubble, and you need someone to give you a shot of reality sometimes. MarcusCicero 10:23, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Asimov[edit]

Theemperor has insinuated that you dislike some of his books; is this true? Mindless harmonic Hoover! 19:23, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Don't think so--haven't even read too much Asimov. TheoryOfPractice 22:18, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Vandal Bin[edit]

I really think MC should stay in the vandal bin. All he does is abuse people, non-stop abuse and you cant ignore it if it's on your own talk page. He does not good here at all. Ace McWickedModel 500 23:55, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

It is quite funny to watch. Broccoli 23:56, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Maybe the first time, then its gets boring and genuinely offends some. Ace McWickedModel 500 23:58, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
For such an obvious troll, he seems very effective. Broccoli 00:02, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
He doesn't particulalry bother me, I don't really "get offended" by the internet but what does irritate me is why we keep him around. Its pointless and disruptive. Ace McWickedModel 500 00:05, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Fine. TheoryOfPractice 00:51, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

and dandy? Ace McWickedModel 500 00:53, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I agree. Keep him in the lockdown. He's never gone after me, and I find him annoying nonetheless. Aboriginal Noise Oh, you want to hit people with garbage cans? 00:55, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm torn. He is useless, yes. But he does not muck with articles, he just comes here and calls us names. Aren't we all for "talk, talk, talk"? He gets pwned every time anyway ("I have no examples"), so who cares? ħumanUser talk:Human 02:55, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, I told The Emperor I would stand behind him when it came to releasing MC. Emperor was getting rightly fucked off. MC just pisses everyone off and can be pretty offensive. His poast history is all trolling and I think its just better to keep him vandaled. Ace McWickedModel 500 03:00, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
And while we are for talk talk talk, we still have community standards and at least a passing acquintence with civility. Ace McWickedModel 500 03:02, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Dear TOP[edit]

Thank you for your constant courage in the face of a neverending barage of hypocrisy and geekishness from the likes of the Theemperor. The fact that Theemperor feels the need to revert peoples edits all the time (Not just mine, he does it to others. He really belongs on wikipedia or something, not here. He's a paper pushing geek who belongs in the basement of a library stacking old copies of PC World.) is indicative of his completely spineless and humourless nature.

I would like to point out to you, and to others here that NOT ONCE have I EVER vandalised a mainspace page. In fact, the criticism of VANDALISM simply doesn't stand up when properly investigated, and if my case was looked at more OBJECTIVELY, all of you would find that I HAVE NOT BROKEN YOUR RULES. I have NOT vandalised any RW page. All I have done it told a few pricks that they were pricks. I can stop posting on their talk pages if you like, if their knickers really do get in such a twist.

And please look through my editing history. I have posted some useful stuff here in my time. If I wasn't confronted with juvenile humour constantly I wouldn't feel the need to be a wanker.

In the interests of RW not appearing like a grotesque inversion of CONSERVAPEDIA, I invite some kind of formal inquiry to assuage my guilt and prove it beyond all reasonable doubt in a community environment. If I have broken the rules, then fine. I will accept my punishment. If I am innocent then it just proves how pathetic RW is slowly becoming when you allow people like Theemperor and their reverting, page protecting ways any precedent. The people you should have been getting rid of was the likes of RA and him, useless souls with no imagination or anything genuine to do with their lives. Thank youMarcusCicero 13:31, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Responding to juvenile humor with wankery is a vicious cycle. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 (Dictated But Not Read) / Talk / Block 14:31, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Maybe, but I'm not breaking any rules. I'm puzzled at how I can be called a vandal when I haven't actually vandalised anything. MarcusCicero 15:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. Me too. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 (Dictated But Not Read) / Talk / Block 15:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
The thing is, though, that when you post insults (whether or not they are true or warranted) on someone's personal talkpage and they ask you cut it out, you should cut it out. I don't usually mind you, MC. But when Theemperor asked you to cut it out, and you didn't, that's where someone had to draw the line. If you are willing to cut it out when someone asks you to, then I will support de-binning you.Gooniepunk2010 Oi! Oi! Oi! 15:28, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Pretty much also agreed. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 (Dictated But Not Read) / Talk / Block 15:30, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I can agree with that as well. Aboriginal Noise Oh, you want to hit people with garbage cans? 15:52, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Look, I just responded to a VERY IMPORTANT E-MAIL from a Noted Member of this Community with a Severe Drinking Problem asking me why I was "MC happy." I replied, I'm not. He's a shit. But people here crapped all over me when I lost my tiny mind over Fall down's use of our wiki to disseminate threats to "ass-rape" people, telling me that blocking was no good and we could just revert or ignore. MC has done nothing of that magnitude AFAIK, and he makes occasional Useful Edits, even. People who run to the diff link when they see MC has made a comment on a talk page and then get their knickers in a twist over what he's said--knowing full well they're not gonna like it in the first place--should just ignore him. Yes, he's insulting. But some of his comments re: the WIGOs posted by our newer/less experienced clones are, as crudely as he puts them, not too far off the mark. Ignore him, challenge him, but binning him is unnecessary and Lets the Terrorists Win. TheoryOfPractice 15:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

MC, This is why I dislike you. Am I petty? Probably. Am I a fickle mush-head? Yep. Aboriginal Noise can attest that it does take much for me to dislike someone. One time is all it takes and that's it. So, let me leave you with this - GET BENT! --Edgerunner76Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 16:08, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I can and will attest to the above. Sometimes it doesn't take ANYTHING to fall into the bad graces of Edgerunner (just ask any number of NFL quarterbacks, for some reason). I'm suprised I'm still alive. Aboriginal Noise Oh, you want to hit people with garbage cans? 16:42, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Remember, it's cute when I do it. --Edgerunner76Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 16:53, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
So am I to remain vandal binned? MarcusCicero 16:14, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I would un-bin you, but it past experience shows that would be a matter of minutes before a More Respected Member of this Community would revert me, and then a pissing match would ensue. TheoryOfPractice 16:57, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I am also for un-binning. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 / Talk / Block 16:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
How many of us have told a child - "you should have thought of that before _____" - only to go back on that admonishment? I say that we should not go back on that admonishment this time. --Edgerunner76Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 17:05, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Rather than the VB isn't this a case for Don't feed the Troll--BobNot Jim 17:07, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I agree that the VB shouldn't be used for trolls. He's only a troll if you let him troll you. Ignored trolling isn't really trolling. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 / Talk / Block 17:11, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Has MC ever been paroled on the condition that he make no personal attacks, or similar condition? Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 17:15, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I think that would be too broad. Personal attacks are not verboten. I'd say no personal attacks against persons X, Y and Z or something. And that response by any person X, Y or Z to a comment by MC intended for someone else would have to temporarily nullify that restriction on that person, though. — Sincerely, Neveruse513 / Talk / Block 17:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
How about we add a Troll Bin that is a little less restrictive than the Vandal Bin? I like that idea. --Edgerunner76Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 17:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
What about topic bans? — Sincerely, Neveruse513 / Talk / Block 17:32, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Edgerunner has no case. Frankly, I'm not a vandal, so should not be treated as such. No-one has provided any evidence for this case. I thought this website was rationalwiki, not persecutionwiki. Its easy to get rid of people you don't like - its altogether more difficult to prove a case against someone definitively and with due process. This whole process smacks of Theemperor being a little geek and getting what he wants. There is no reason for being in a vandal bin. MarcusCicero 17:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
I would like to mention that I have never struck back at you. I just don't like you. --Edgerunner76Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? 17:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Don't be such a pissy whinge bag. That banning spree was a natural result of giving me banning powers. MarcusCicero 17:27, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE — Sincerely, Neveruse513 / Talk / Block 17:30, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Persecutionwiki? Thats fucking laugh. Fuck this, I am outta here. Keeping a guy like MC does RW a total disservice to RW and its frankly ridiculous. Ace McWickedModel 500 21:34, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Nice one. See you in a couple of days when you inevitably come back you fucking clown. MarcusCicero 21:44, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

I rewrote my essay "Why I oppose abortion" to answer your question.

--Earthland 08:46, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

I could care less. Like I said on the talk page: old debate. No compromise/middle ground/consensus possible. No new insights. People always had abortions, always will, can't stop them, useless to try to change minds. Run along. You're boring me. TheoryOfPractice 15:54, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Year-long block.[edit]

One--it's really unclear to me as to what's going on here and whether or not MC is speaking for himself or if "his brother" is speaking for him, so I'm not sure the block is a good idea. Two--we don't block users. If MC wants to be blocked, make him a sysop and let him block himself. Three. TK isn't even blocked ferfuxsake. What, you can't handle a little trolling that has perhaps a wee bit of grounding in the truth? get over yourselves. TheoryOfPractice (talk) 18:04, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

My response: Come back at the end of the block and behave like a fucking adult. TheoryOfPractice 02:05, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
