A home at last ! - Tecint (talk) 08:09, 18 September 2016 (UTC)
- I've always found cyberspace to fit with both the feeling and phrase "This is my home." far better than any physical location, regardless of the fact that I had been under the same roof for most of my life before I hit that magic 18 and moved out. ...Mayhaps you'd say we're kindred spirits?
- Well, I think it's about time someone said it: welcome home!
- I hope you find it comfortable; a place where you can heal your soul, far more lastingly so than any non-materialist church could. ~ ♥ 12:50, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- I have a soul?! - In a skeptical materialist context, that sounds like an insoult... (Personally, I haven't yet worked out the difference between the sixth and the seventh of my 10 Taoist souls.) = Tecint (talk) 05:19, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

A note on {{wpl}} links[edit]
Hi buddy! Thanks for your work on the WW1 article!
I noticed you inserted many much-needed wpl template links into the article. Referencing TOW is a great thing to do, and it should be done more often (where genuinely useful to the reader).
However, for almost every single instance of {{wpl}} used, you ought instead to insert that same TOW link using the {{wpa}} template inside <ref> tags!
The reasons for this preferred practice are many.
- Firstly, using {{wpa}} in <ref> tags over plain "in-article {{wpl}}" will helpfully pad out the list of references for our articles (great, as we actually allow TOW as a straight-up source here).
- Secondly, doing so will prevent users from being directed off-site as frequently as with {{wpl}} links. This really does make a difference — a ref with the TOW link much more clearly demonstrates to the reader that clicking it will interrupt their current reading here on RW; a diversion they should feel free to postpone as necessary.
- Thirdly, doing so is visually superior every time — indeed, for the articles to discreetly feature more refs, as opposed to being peppered with grayed-out WP outlinks.
TL;DR: Using TOW as a source is awesome. Crucially however, TOW links rule especially when in the form of {{wpa}}'s in <ref> tags, while they end up upsetting the text quickly when in {{wpl}} format. Thanks in advance! All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 09:18, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- Example use scenario: this is how far more of our articles should look. Why, just consistently converting already-existant {{wpl}}'s to <ref> tagged {{wpa}}'s would allow us to be rid of the ugly {{sources needed}} template for lots of articles, and that's while directing fewer readers off-site. - Calling Wikipedia "That Other Wiki" is so tsundere. Where do you suppose RationalWiki picked up on this cute little habit, good reverend? ~ ♥ 09:37, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've noticed a few other wikis using the same expression, including ED. Christopher (talk) 09:48, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- ED or no; I believe the expression was coined by Wikipedians themselves, to differentiate more clearly between The Old Wiki (TOW) and the numerous other wiki upstarts (considering MediaWiki is a free platform). DG or Tim would know more though, the old Wikipedian wine corks that they are. All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 10:33, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
- Yech, yeah I saw The Wiki That Shan't Be Spoken Of in search results for "That Other Wiki," but I'd figured there was more to it than that that we're simply not seeing; wanting to see what you would come up with first, I didn't say this, but: I was actually thinking of TvTropes.org when I asked my question, since that's where I first heard the term. (I guess now I finally know why they were so adamant about no longer using that term, though.) ~ ♥ 12:50, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
