Rita Panahi (1976–) is a far-right US-born Australian news anchor of Iranian descent for Sky News Australia, being one of their most popular reporters. Basically the Laura Ingraham of Australia, most of her segments focus on immigration, Islam, leftism, liberalism, and wokeness, and how all of these issues are systemic and existential problems, which are the fault of "the regressive left".

Early life[edit]

Despite being an Australian citizen, she was born in the US state of Arkansas to Iranian immigrant parents. Her family returned to Iran in 1979, and fled the country from Tehran in the same year. They found asylum in Australia and were granted refugee status as they settled in Melbourne.

Lefties Losing It[edit]

One of the most notable things about Panahi is her extreme bigotry against leftists (almost cartoonish in proportions). She has a segment called "Lefties Losing It", where she finds various kinds of culture wars issues of little relevance (such as a non-binary bison from a kids cartoon) or actual important issues (like the Iranian uprising) and attempts to blame everything on the left while giving credit to the right.[1] Much like other right-wing pundits, she grasps onto culture war issues and takes minor events of stereotypical SJWs and uses them to represent a false reality where leftists are demonized and otherized (as part of an agenda to appeal to her low-life supporters).

General stupidity[edit]

Sucking off the monarchy[edit]

Panahi is a monarchist, and supports the British monarchy. She views Australia as part of the British territory. However, she made a racist segment towards Meghan Markle (the wife of Prince Harry, and part African American) and made non-arguments towards her.[2]

Anti-immigrant hypocrisy[edit]

Despite being the child of immigrants and an immigrant herself, Panahi opposes immigration, and has been noted for her turn towards right-wing (even far-right) politics by immigrants.[3] She also supports immigration detention camps as an acceptable method for filtering refugees in Australia (further showcasing her hypocrisy). So in other words, internalized discrimination.

Antisemitism[edit]

Ironically like a lot of modern day conservative commentators they call pro-Palestinian people antisemitic, but at the same time she deeply supports George Soros conspiracy theories which are antisemitic.[4]

Anti-LGBGT bigotry[edit]

Like her cohorts, Rita has made an unhealthy amount of segments hyperfixating on the LGBT community, depicting them as pedophiles and groomers out to capture children and “turn them gay”. The material she plays does not even depict anything of the sort, rather just being benign to moderately cringe TikTok videos featuring LGBT creators.

Stopped clock[edit]

Panahi supports the counter-revolution in Iran, and denounces the evil of the Ayatollah and his cronies. She also highlights the oppression of Christians and Jews in the country. Unfortunately, she also used the segment to bash all leftists and paint them as complicit and supportive of the rise of radical Islam, and she failed to mention the Zoroastrians, Hindus, atheists, secularists, and other non-Abrahamic groups present in the country.
