Poor Justice[edit]

I just loved this stereoptypical Eddism:

"If you will acknowledge your mistake, I'll ask the project director to reconsider the block"

First you have to admit you were wrong. This typical of both communism and the Inquisition when dealing with dissenters or heretics. And as for having to ask Andy to reconsider the block when it was Ed who made it in the first place is just pure humbug.  Lily Ta, wack! 15:38, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

Tell me about it. I'm sure Ed would have liked nothing more than a nice, humble "I was wrong and you were right, Ed" apology, followed by Schlafly maintaining my block for any number of other reasons.
Ed and Karajou remind me of the two bullyish thugs in A Clockwork Orange who wound up becoming cops, and relished in abusing others because they were empowered to. --SpinyNorman 17:04, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
It is interesting how all of a sudden PoD is referring to Schlafly as the "project leader". humanUser talk:Human 17:00, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

Dinsdale's on a Liberal knife edge isn't he? SusanG  ContribsTalk 10:02, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Yeah, I feel a block is due any time now. The interesting thing is, will it be the usual 3-day or 1-week type, or will my inclusion in the Fox "rw mole" list earn me a perma-block for "not supporting the project's goals" or some similar nonsense. We'll see. --SpinyNorman 10:23, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Favor[edit]

Could you do me a favor and nudge Andy on this whole triangular trade business? I asked him directly on his talk page as politely as I could, but he never replied and now I'm banned. I'm sure he'd ignore a sock, but he seems to respond to your questions. He at least wouldn't block you, I think. I really want to know how he reconciles his current belief with what's in his own lectures and every textbook on the subject. Every time we catch him contradicting himself he tries to squirm out of it, so I imagine he will again. I'd like to see how he intends to. If we don't ask him one of his students is bound to, assuming they're half as smert as he says they are. Thanks. DickTurpis 15:54, 28 August 2008 (EDT)

No problem. I have to wonder how many of his homeschool students actually challenge him on points like this. I have a feeling they've been so conditioned to accept whatever a conservative authority figure tells them that it's not too likely. --SpinyNorman 16:31, 28 August 2008 (EDT)
Thanks. To answer the question on my talk page, I asked him a question on his talk page under the sock Fyezall (it was originally intended to be a disposable sock, figuring I'd be blocked instantly for the name, but when I wasn't, I decided to make use of it), unless it's been erased, it should still be there, under the heading "triangular trade" or some such. DickTurpis 21:47, 28 August 2008 (EDT)

There's probably little point in asking him, as it seems ignoring uncomfortable questions is now the MO, rather than their previous one of making stuff up, twisting words, and changing the subject. Seems more effective too. I mean, if they won't even respond to you pointing out that their summary of Obama's speech is completely fabricated (added by a parodist?), we probably can't hope for them to do anything but ignore people who point out contradictions. Anyway, it's there on his talk page, if you want to make the inquiry. Now I'm ,waiting with bated breath to see how he explains away Palin's lack of experience and zero foreign policy credentials. I'm sure he'll say 1 year in the executive branch is equivalent to 10 in the Senate. DickTurpis 11:30, 29 August 2008 (EDT)

WIGO/Andy/the Bible[edit]

Hi. I just got an edit conflict, apparently from you, adding this to WIGO:

upneutraldown
94Whatever stupid thing you're discussing (and this one was really stupid—it was the bit about separate test for boys and girls in the American history course), if other people don't mention the Bible, their position is wrong.

We were talking about the same thing, but with somewhat different point of view. We're supposed to avoid duplicating stuff. But I think the point that your opponent is wrong if he/she doesn't mention the Bible is a good one.

What do you recommend? I'll defer to you. Do you want to work my point into your item somehow?

By the way, I think the Bible is an interesting book. I have two translations at home. One is the KJV, of course. Blah blah blah bible blah blah bible blah.

Gauss 11:02, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

Never mind. I see that other events have overtaken my position. God, Conservapedia is fun! (By the way, the Bible mentions God. A lot.) Gauss 11:07, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

OK, done. Got more edit conflicts. Gotta work fast---that page is changing rapidly! I wish I could cause the Sun to stand still, the way Joshua did in uhhh, what was that book? Gauss 11:26, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

Thank you![edit]

I see you are enjoying another enforced holiday over at the other place, so I wanted to drop by and thank you for your kind words there. It helps to know I have a friend and support over there, especially now that one is almost waiting for those with agendas to turn on me. Maybe it is good that I have my own dusty nook over there that everybody ignores :) Hope to see you back soon! KT

Is there something wrong with you?[edit]

Has anyone ever described you as a glutton for punishment?

I do admire your efforts there, but why bother trying to reason with an internet troll who is parodying one of the most close-minded and intellectually lazy creatures on God's green earth? What could you possibly hope to accomplish?

Anyway, carry on. Bjones 12:22, 29 December 2008 (EST)

Actually, let me try this again. I absolutely appreciate the virtue of reasonable debate with people whom you disagree with. And that seems to be what you are constantly trying to do over there. But as you well know, Andy is clearly not playing the "reasonable debate" game. Specifically, he does not follow the rule that requires "reasons" to have some basis in verifiable fact. He's doesn't really even follow the rule that requires "reasons" to actually be, well, reasons at all. Hell, I don't know if the game Andy is playing even has rules at all (See: Calvinball from the Calvin and Hobbes comic).

Now, that might almost be bearable if you could actually even reach Andy himself. But you can't. He's protected by parodists who are even less interested in playing the "reasonable debate game" and probably get a kick out of subverting it every time they can.

So the real question is, given that is what the playing field looks like, how could the game you seem to be trying to play be any fun at all? I mean, if I were you I would be pretty much red-faced and furious all the fucking time. Like I said, I just don't get it. Bjones 12:39, 29 December 2008 (EST)

I didn't know you were Dinsdale. Keep up the good work. It looks like it's mostly just you & JessicaT holding up the reasonable end of CP at the moment, with so many others blocked or driven out for their disagreements. wassaiLOIdWeaselly.jpg~ 12:57, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Yeah, I'm DinsdaleP - it's never been a secret because I actually started on CP as Dinsdale before "getting rational". I know that editing on CP can be futile at times - okay, most of teh time. What motivates me there is simple, though. If I see content there I disagree with, then I try to add balance or refute it instead of muttering to myself from the sidelines. It can feel futile at times when the changes get wiped at the whim of others, but at least it's there in the history for others to see. I'm kind of surprised that I haven't been perma-banned yet, but I'll never be disrespectful or vandalize there - if DinsdaleP is banned, it will have to be for expressing ideological differences they claim to tolerate. --SpinyNorman 13:18, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Or, for a "silly editing pattern". I never vandalized or disrespected there, either (ok, Po' Ed did block me once for a day for "anti project snark"...) but I got bye-byed. Of course, the real reasons are probably hidden from view. As we all know, a certain "senior goon" doesn't exactly like me. ħumanUser talk:Human 13:52, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Yeah, I have a feeling that when I've outlasted my welcome there won't be anything formal about the sendoff, with not so much as a "Godspeed" or "good riddance". --SpinyNorman 14:01, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Stoat! You didn't connect Dinsdale (Piranha) and Spiny Norman? Shame on you! (see here) Toast 14:09, 29 December 2008 (EST)
Oh I see! It must be fifteen years or so since I last saw that sketch. All I really remember is the hedgehog looming over the city shouting "Dinsdale!" So I knew that name was a Monty Python reference, but I'd totally forgotten the name of the hog. Shame on me indeed. wassaiLOIdWeaselly.jpg~ 14:17, 29 December 2008 (EST)

Good Luck[edit]

Hey Man, good luck with this fight. I'd say about four of my socks died a violent death due to Franken Pages. Karajou hate him, and LearnTogether absolutely loathes the very idea of his continued existence. But keep fighting the good fight, my socks are staying clear though, so don't look for any help. BOOM![edit]

I guess TK finally decided to pull the trigger. So it goes. Maybe he forgot about his own involvement here- it's ironic that he banhammered you during an argument about hypocrisy. Either way, I guess he wins the argument! CorryIt is a rock, though. Should beat everything. 22:13, 3 March 2009 (EST)

Thanks. I'm really surprised I made it this long, too, but TK's on a mission to make CP as ideologically pure as Ivory Soap... --SpinyNorman 19:45, 4 March 2009 (EST)

Question[edit]

SpinyNorman, I'd like to email you privately about something, if you don't mind, but I can't figure out how to do it on this site. I'm guessing I need to put in my email somewhere, but I can't figure it out. Help! --Too tired to log in 09:49, 4 March 2009 (EST)

You need to "enable email ... " in your preferences. However, I understand "e-mail this user" isn't working at all on RW. ToastToastand marmite 09:53, 4 March 2009 (EST)
I'm still getting condolence emails on Conservapedia as DinsdaleP, so if you have an ID there you can send me a note that way. Thx. --SpinyNorman 19:47, 4 March 2009 (EST)
You might want to redact that before it's too late, Dinsy. More ways to reach people: the IRC channel, you can open a "private" chat window. Also, the forums allow pmail internally. ħumanUser talk:Human 20:41, 4 March 2009 (EST)
Thanks everyone! I'll figure it out. --Too tired to log in 22:09, 4 March 2009 (EST)

TK[edit]

Why exactly are you running around whitewashing the varmint's name? It's public knowledge, you know. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:40, 5 March 2009 (EST)

I know, and I know this is probably a futile gesture, but but I was requested by TK to remove the references on RW that tie his name to his user ID.
The guy's a jerk, but I have to admit that since he made this request sincerely, I couldn't see a reason not to honor it since I post behind pseudonyms to preserve my own privacy. He's been told that this is a one-time act on my part, and that I'm not going to undo reversions or chase after people who continue to use his name on RW - I'm just an editor on RW and not a privacy cop.
For the record, he's also been told to leave DinsdaleP blocked - honoring his request is a gesture of decency and not a quid pro quo. --SpinyNorman 22:04, 5 March 2009 (EST)
Well, that makes you the second person he has tried to cajole in private into whitewashing this wiki. Thanks for the answer, though! ħumanUser talk:Human 20:58, 6 March 2009 (EST)
No offence SN, but there is nothing sincere about TK (and I should know). All he's doing is trying to cover up the fact he's edited here, which of course, makes him a hypocrite for blocking you. I know, you're the better person for doing his request, but you should really let him swing in the wind. --PsyGremlinWhut? 06:16, 7 March 2009 (EST)
I know that now. I feel like someone who thinks of himself as cyber-savvy, but has just realized that he shouldn't have answered that email from the sincere-sounding chap in Nigeria. He'll just have to deal with the consequences of being on both places like I did. --SpinyNorman 10:47, 7 March 2009 (EST)
s'funny that - I'm apparently helping the ex-Nigerian Finance Minister store his embezzled millions as we speak... --PsyGremlinWhut? 04:44, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

DinsdaleP[edit]

Assuming you are indeed aSK's DinsdaleP I would like to say I am finding your comments regarding health care on the RuyLopez talkpage very interesting. I whole heartedly agree with you that the right are not offering anything other than "we dont want ObamaCare". If they could come up with an alternative or, as you say, at least bluntly state "we dont want it to change, the status quo is fine" then I would listen and consider. But all that is being offered is partisan rehtoric and comments that boarder on hate speech. It is mindless anti-obama/socialism/whatever you want to call it that is the real roadblock here. People have become so ideologically blinded that they have forgotten the real issue. I applaud your patience with Ruy also. I would have long ago given up. In NZ we have a public health and 2 nights ago my grandmother fell and broke her hip. Now she is in hospital resting up with a brand new replacment hip - all from public health care. We also have free ambulances too so it can't be all that bad. Ace McWickedCurrently Lurking..... 02:20, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, Ace. Yeah, that's me. I kept the DinsdaleP name for consistency, and so I could copy over anything I created on CP under that name.'
It amazes me how bent folks get over the idea that the government could do certain services more efficiently than an open market. I agree that in many cases it's not true, but there are good exceptions, like running a fire department for example. A few weeks ago I read that even some of the most die-hard conservatives admitted that on pure, objective merits, a government-run single payer system would best serve the people and cost the least to the economy overall. That would put the medical-insurance industry out of business, though, and be such a radical chance that they have decided it's not a viable option. One of them (and I should look his name up) said, "If we could start from nothing it would be the best plan, but we can't change what's already in place". My response is that we could, if the will to do it was there. --SpinyNorman 14:58, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
"If we could start from nothing it would be the best plan, but we can't change what's already in place" - thats an interesting point actually. People are very resistant to change, well people aren't but a populace is. Particulary a populace so sharply defined defined by ideology. Weasly Weasel Weasel already bought this up[edit]

ChrisY[edit]

If you need to stand up for him, then I think just making sure people know it's a parody by calling him out on it will be sufficient enough. There is no need to permaban somebody, however stupid their idea to parody a guy on CONservapedia may be. Lord Goonie Hooray! I'm helping! 03:45, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

This was my first block ever, and I felt it was justified because the only thing that can come of someone here pretending to be a plain old editor on CP (as opposed to the fake TK or the fake Andy) is that the real guy on CP would get permabanned from that site for being a member here. Like I said on that talk page, the real Chris will have to put up with whatever comments people post about him here, not that I think he cares.
Since he takes the CBP seriously and is doing a halfway decent job given the ridiculous nature of the project itself, my guess is that someone felt that getting Chris booted would allow for more "classic" gems like Andy's references to "Listen up", "booze" and "bimbo".
If one of the Loya Jurga tells me to unblock it I'll consider, but for now sticking up for a good guy in the real world matters more to me than the sock games someone wanted to play here. --SpinyNorman (talk) 04:46, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, if you are calling out the faker, I think it is in the rules to force the guy to rename himself. Let me re-read the 'crat guide really quick. Gooniepunk2010 Oi! Oi! Oi! 04:50, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Renaming works fine for me - I don't want to keep anyone from editing on RW, but this person was clearly trying to impersonate Chris simply to get him tossed from CP. I guess this seems like a double-standard to some folks here, but I've always been the live & let live type, and never tried to have someone removed from this site or CP. --SpinyNorman (talk) 13:53, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
