Conservative (a.k.a. Kenneth DeMyer,[2] and Peter Moore, Kdbuffalo, RuyLopez, David Jensen, Kenny Baby, Kenny Boy, Kendoll, The Kenster, VacuousPoet, heavyduty3737, User:Newton, User:GiuocoPiano, and over a hundred other account names used by his sockpuppets on this very website that rival the patheticness, unoriginality, and size of Mikemikev's sock army) is a search engine optimization magnate, winner of 4th place in a spelling bee,[3] and international man of mystery. He is also a pretty good dancer.[4] By his own admission, Ken did actually hold a job at one time as a debt collector.[5] Among his many endeavors, Conservative is a Conservapedia sysop who rules the "Evolution", "Atheism", and all homosexuality-related articles while they slowly climb the ranks at popular search engines beginning with 'G', much to the chagrin of atheists and homosexuals the world over.
After being thrown out of Wikipedia for fragrantly breaking the sockpuppet rules (as he did on a number of forums[6]), he came to Conservapedia, where he and his poor writing skills (as demonstrated by his use of poorly strung together copy+pasting of quote-mines and outdated statistics, and his proclivity towards using "in regards to..." or "regarding..." to begin each sentence[7]) led to his near-whole-hearted embrace by the CP community. He immediately put his new-found blocking rights to good use by blocking himself for vandalism, almost nipping his career in the bud;[8] but unfortunately, another sysop was able to reverse his suicide. He now spends his days writing articles such as "Atheism and _____", "RationalWiki and ______", "Richard Dawkins and ______", "Homosexuality and _____", "Liberalism and _____", or "Liberal Christianity and _____" (fill in the blank with random words of your choosing; atheism and rape, obesity, Alzheimer's Disease[WTF?!], suicide, bestiality, uncharitableness, search engine rankings, and cowardice, are particularly enlightening examples, as is their Gallery of Obese Atheists, consisting solely of pictures of allegedly overweight heretics — why is he so obsessed with them?), looking up his articles on Google, making utterly pointless editsimg, and polluting CP’s mainspace with baseless criticisms of RationalWiki. He's still not as block-ready as TK was, however.
His "work" is notable for consisting almost entirely of other people's words or pictures. It is believed that the last original sound to come out of Conservative’s mouth was the cry when the midwife slapped his rear end to start him breathing.
He is somewhat out of step with the other editors at Conservapedia. He imagines that atheism is dead on the Information Superhighway and evolution will soon die there also. Others at Conservapedia, however, talk about the (imagined) need to battle the terrible liberal bias at Wikipedia (which is allegedly run by atheists and evolutionists), as well as the (also imagined) need to fight the "militant atheists" who are "destroying America". They can't both be right. Now, little Conservative, just because you want something to happen doesn't make it happen.
Let's Godwin yourself! (or, the Godwin singularity)[edit]
According to Godwin's Law, as an internet debate goes on, the probability that someone will bring up Hitler or the Nazis rises to certainty. Going very fast to Godwin's point (let's say, at your third intervention) is considered to be a sign of aggressiveness, particulary if there are few people in the debate. However, Conservative is the only person able to reach a Godwin's point at the first paragraph of a monologue.
But that's good because "Godwin" includes "God" and "win". So, when you post a picture of Hitler in front of an article, you can say "In the name of God, I win the argument." Godwin's point.
Alter ego[edit]
Ken DeMyer is also an extremely bad sock puppeteer and troll; people can usually spot him in seconds generally because he never changes his tried and failed debating style.[6][9][10]
Conservative, prior to his arrival & elevation on Conservapedia, was much in evidence on Wikipedia. As "Kdbuffalo", Ken DeMeyer of Buffalo NY,[11] he created quite a stir. Among others here and here (there's more if you look) where he had been following his usual charming tactics: ignoring everyone else, quote mining, and quoting other like-minded idiots. Nothing changes!
For a while, Ken also participated at RationalWiki, under the name Newton. The name Ken DeMyer is now protected by Conservapedia's spam filter.

- VacuousPoet[note 1] and other sockpuppets(WP)
- Freedom777[note 2] (CP)
- Ruylopez[12] (A Storehouse of Knowledge) — while Ruy Lopez and Conservative occasionally disavow each other when queried directly, all anecdotal evidence suggests they are one and the same, including Ruy Lopez answering to "Ken," his consistent and identical defense of Ken's pet sharticles (aren't everyone's bowels at least a little gay?), Ken's distinctive editing pattern and apparent admission that he is the author of the Gentlemen red telephones, constant reference to ___ on the internet, and consistent use of "in regards to" and other distinctive rhetorical flourishes.

Amazingly, Ken thinks that no-one can see through his masterful disguises and persists in hiding behind the curtain.[15]
An interesting relationship[edit]
While it may not (yet) be confirmed if Conservapedia's User:Conservative really is popular Christian YouTuber Shockofgod (aka Rich Allen), the two seem to have a close relationship. Many articles that Shock mentions in his videos have been almost entirely written by Conservative, including the page "ShockOfGod" on Conservapedia.[16]
In this you-tube video, Shock takes personal offense at Penn Jillette calling Conservative "a troll", as if he was the one Penn was talking about.
In addition, they both appear to have very similar styles: They both have morbid preoccupations with atheism, homosexuality, and obesity, they both fantasize constantly about atheism and evolutionism dying, they are both terrible debaters (and have an eerily similar debating style), and they both use childlike and immature tactics when debating atheists.
Either the two are one and the same, or they both edit Conservapedia, using the same user.
"Publications" by Ken DeMyer[edit]
In one of his many shout-outs, Ken DeMyer implied that he had academic aspirations, which he may or may not be fulfilling, and that in early 2011 he was to be a paid writer for some unknown publication. This does seem somewhat strange, as his arguments are usually backed up with "evidence" in the form of quote mines, which are frowned upon as the quotes are usually out of context and in most cases are an example of the logical fallacy of argument from authority. As there are no publications to his name that are readily found, we can only judge his intellectual rigour by his many postings at forums across the internet.
Using his actual name(!), he was pwned here and here.
He was also a participant on TheologyWeb. His works are the usual topics; quote mine about evolutionist lies, quote mine on why people that are skeptical about the Bible are wrong, quote mine on why non-creationist biology is wrong, and quote mine on why fossil record disagrees with evolution. He penned this long essay about dating Exodus where he copped pwnings such as this. A full collection of Ken DeMyer's quote mines can be found here (after registering and logging in).
As Kdbuffalo, he posted on Internet Infidels where he tried once again to prove a point by quote mining on the failure of non-creationist astronomy; again, when people are allowed to reply, he cops a pwning.
It appears that throughout his internet forum "debating" career, Ken DeMyer uses the same weak quotemining tactic — which seems to get him accused of dishonesty for some reason — loses the argument badly, and then starts another thread all the while believing he is destroying atheism and evolution on the internet. His retreat to Conservapedia is simply that for once he controls the ground rules. His articles are the kind of quote-mining seen before, he ignores any comments on talkpages, and locks his articles, userpage, and shout-outs, so that he can shut down any debate from ever occurring. Pages and their histories are routinely memory holed to cover his tracks.
This is particularly hilarious as DeMyer is trying to convince someone that rabbit and hares "chew the cud" (that is they are pre-gut fermentors, animals which regurgitate their food and before consuming it again, like cows and camels) as it says in Leviticus, when it is a well established fact that rabbits and hares are hind gut fermentors (animals that re-eat their faeces to redigest the food). Simply cut a rabbit up and you would not see the multiple stomach arrangement you find in cows that even makes this possible. As always, he quotes a few guys he agrees with and fails epically in the face of actual evidence.
Conservative style, Conservapedia obsessive-compulsive disorder, and delusions[edit]
Conservative style usually includes the following characteristics:
- Taking several edits to make even the smallest changes to an article.
- Deleting and recreating pages (Ken has deleted and recreated his userpage over 180 times)
- Not using the "preview" function to view his edits before saving.
- Forgetting to insert a space between his edit and signature on talkpages.
- Heavy reliance on quotes, almost to the exclusion of other text.
- Excessive use of double line breaks to space sentences apart.
- Tacking sources as links at the end of his sentences.
- Borrowing material from creationist blogs and other dubious sources, and attributing quotes inaccurately or out of context.
- Use of irrelevant pictures with inane captions, and pointless links to YouTube clips.
- When said pictures are added, forgetting to resize them to a smaller size, allowing browsers to be able to scroll left.
- Morbid preoccupations with homosexuality, atheism, evolution, obesity, suicide, RationalWiki drama, Right-winged European populism, and Hitler.
- Obsession with search results on a certain search engine starting with G, and predictions about them.
- Excessive adverbial use of the word "likely" when making these predictions.
- Poor sentence structure and repetitive use of the same words (especially "however").
- A penchant for beginning sentences with his signature catchphrase, "In regards to".
- Spamming the Main Page and other sysops' talk pages with "news" in regards to search engine results, pictures of Hitler, and poorly disguised messages to RationalWiki users — sometimes by name.
- Apparent indifference to ridicule.[note 3]
- Announcing "exciting new developments", “operations”, or "major developments" expected in regards to his pet articles.[note 4]
- Finishing a sentence with more than one exclamation mark, repeated use of the internet abbreviation “LOL!” or a smiley emoticon, the sure sign of a diseased mind.[note 5]
- Appealing to authority when his shabby "scholarship" is exposed (my expert published 500 more papers than yours, gay bowel syndrome is real!1!! :) )
- On 13th and 14th June 2009, Ken engaged in a marathon 30-hour edit spree. (See image on left.)
- On 11th to 13th October 2014, he broke his previous records with a 39-hour editing marathon.
- Frequent deletion of own user discussion page.[17] When linking any discussion there, make sure to back it up on web archives, or else it will be memory-holed.
An example of his editing pattern[edit]
There are many instances where one will see Ken taking several edits to make even the smallest changes to a page. However, one must often be quick to view them, as he has been known to delete and recreate pages, which, as a result, hides the original history of the page from view. Serving as an example that shows how he takes many edits to perform even the slightest task, the following describes a series of 21 consecutive edits made by Ken to his userpage in July of 2010:
- Adds a section titled "Great works of art on atheism" to his userpage. Consists only of a bunch of blank lines, and a random period at the end.
- Adds additional blank lines to the section.
- Adds additional blank lines to the section again, along with another random period.
- Adds additional blank lines to the section yet again, for the third time in a row.
- Blanks the section, for a reason unknown.
- Re-adds a bunch of spaces and this time just one period, which he removed just less than a minute ago.
- Replaces the random period with a pointless template that has no effect.
- Blanks the section, for the second time.
- Removes the section header itself.
- Re-adds the section in a new location (still blank).
- Adds an additional section titled "Great and inspiring art by atheist on atheism" (basically the same thing), this one containing a tumbleweed animation aligned to the center. At this point, he has two sections for exactly the same thing: one blank, one not.
- Adjusts the alignment of the animation to the right.
- Removes the alignment parameter altogether.
- Re-adds the original alignment parameter, aligning it to the center once again (three consecutive edits just to get back to where he started).
- Adds a new section titled "Proof and evidence that atheism is valid" right below the last one, with this one's content consisting of a second tumbleweed animation.
- Places a link to Essay: Proof and evidence that atheism is true at the bottom of his userpage.
- Removes the two sections consisting of the animations. Note that he still has the blank section on his userpage.
- Re-adds the sections that he had just removed at the bottom of his userpage, replacing the link to the previously-mentioned essay.
- Reduces the size of a tumbleweed animation; however, it doesn't work. Proof that he doesn't preview before saving.
- Undoes his mistake.
- Increases the size of the second animation to 700px, making it look horrendous, since its original size is very small.
After making 21 consecutive edits to his userpage, Ken had added three sections, one of which was blank, and two of which contained nothing but two animations, one looking very ugly.
Quote mine about Ken DeMyer[edit]
In regards to DeMyer's quote mining, Patchy of the Freethought and Rationalism Discussion Board wrote, “until such time as he can articulate and defend his own argument or question in his own words, he can be very safely ignored.”[18]
To support this view, evolutionist PZ Myers from the University of Minnesota wrote the following regarding his constant need for attention:
“”This twit, calling himself Peter Moore (also known as Ken DeMyer, or Kdbuffalo, as he was known on Wikipedia before being banned there), is repeating himself over and over again, asking the same stupid question, never satisfied with any answer anyone gives him. Forty nine insipid comments in three days is enough.[19]
|
Furthermore, atheist Austin Cline wrote this with regards to his blatant and incompetent attempts at search engine optimization:
“”Your attempts at link-spamming will fail because search engines don’t index the comments here. Thanks for trying — it has been amusing, I won’t deny it, but all the time and effort you’ve spent on that has been wasted. So there is no need to find excuses to include links back to your own Conservapedia articles. It won’t help any more than trying to use passive-aggressive tactics to get me to link to your irrelevant and unimportant articles in the hopes of having them rise up in search engine rankings.[20]
|
In regards to the question of his sexuality, Ken himself put the matter to rest:
Essays[edit]
Ken seems to have reached a perfect equilibrium with his "big three" articles. To keep himself busy, he began creating a series of bizarre "essays" which Ken describes as "satire". The standard template for these pieces seems to be a quote, childish jabs at atheists and evolutionists, a series of pictures depicting clowns, dogs, bull-fights, Charles Darwin, Hitler, and/or Stalin followed by links to other "essays" of almost the exact same nature. All the talkpages for these essays redirect to either another essay or his atheism hit-piece. Some of the more unhinged essays are:
- Conservapedia obsessive compulsive disorder
- The atheist and evolutionist helpline
- Atheist restaurant
- The Flying Kitty page
- Ponies vs. atheism (definitely one of Ken's most bizarre "essays")
- RationalWiki admits it has a weirdo, pansie infestation
A complete list can be found here.
After pestering right-wing clogger Denyse O'Leary, she wearily deigned to link to his Atheism and obesity rat's nest. However, the outcome was not as celebratory as he might have liked.
Reaction of his fellow sysops[edit]
In April 2009, Conservative informed his fellow sysops of yet another mysterious project, involving people known only to Conservative, who were going to do something at some point in time, that would send "tens of thousands of people" to Conservapedia. Or maybe not.
There is a friend of mine who has some resources at his disposal relating to the internet and he is going to tell tens of thousands of people about Conservapedia. He is going to direct them to the Conservapedia evolution article. The people are not going to be spammed as they have indicated they want to hear about such things.
In addition, soon hundreds of thousands of people may be told about the Conservapedia evolution article but that is less certain as I have not asked the people who I have a good rapport with to mention the Conservapedia evolution article yet.
I think there may be some exciting things happening to the Conservapedia evolution article soon.[22]
Fellow sysops TK and Ed Poor retreated to the ultra-secret Fab Five discussion group, to discuss (obviously!) Conservative's latest delusion.[23]
TK:
Ok, he is really starting to scare me. This is just a robot-like repetition of his front page non-news items. If someone is going to do this, why are they always nameless? Seems to me, someone directing tens of thousands to CP, isn't asking to remain anonymous...
Can't someone tell this guy that hyperbole isn't a sound basis to build anything?
Ed Poor:
I think he needs the attention. So let's give him what he needs, so he'll stay enthused.
Well, needless to say, the promised masses never materialised, but Conservative stayed enthused - going on to offer such gems as cp:Atheism and obesity and cp:Atheism and bestiality.
The great debater[edit]
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
- Anonymous
Ken fancies himself a great debater, and claims "RationalWikians have lost every single exchange we have ever had."
In January 2011, he challenged RWians to a formal debate. Lulz ensued when we accepted.
The 90-day editing sabbatical[edit]
On 30th January 2011, whilst emails were flying around between Conservative and some RationalWiki members about a possible debate, Conservative posted a Red Telephone message claiming he had a full schedule in the following 90 days, and in an email to RationalWiki user Ace McWicked "probably for the next few years or so" as well. In the Red Telephone message he stated he may "do a few cameo appearances in the next 90 days." He then continued his erratic editing pattern as normal, clocking up over 500 edits in the first week of February (and over 1,300 across the whole month) [24] and somewhat ironically began working on an essay untouched for over a month entitled "Essay:The atheist and evolutionist helpline."[25][26]

The extremely bizarre[edit]
The most peculiar sub page ever was User:Conservative/Gentlemen-resistance-is-futile, the contents was copied here, it a 80kb file consisting mainly of "LOL!" repeated over and over. In case you are wondering the evidence suggests he is in his mid 50's.
Coverage of behaviour[edit]
The coverage of Conservative's activities by RationalWiki have several times come under scrutiny by contributors following speculation on Ken's mental state. These comments usually follow an extended editing session by Ken lasting for several hours or more with little or no clear breaks - the most notable to date being a 30-hour editing session in June 2009 - raising questions of ethics amongst RationalWiki contributors in its coverage of an individual displaying exceedingly erratic behaviour, as well as sometimes abusive comments made by individual editors toward Ken following particularly abhorrent or offensive statements made by him. As such, our coverage of Ken's behaviour has been justified in that as long as Andrew Schlafly, founder, owner, and, for lack of a better word, "leader" of Conservapedia, continues to allow Conservative's editing on his website, RationalWiki is free to cover it. Despite the very bizarre nature of Ken's articles - or perhaps because of it - his articles have boosted Conservapedia in search engine rankings, and as such it is unlikely that Andy will ever offer Ken help for fear of losing the one contributor who puts his website on the radar, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
Explanation[edit]
He's a "bot":

OK, it was a ASchlafly slip of the finger, but still ...?
[I]f I could find my javascript implementation, with a few tweaks I could almost certainly replace Ken with a very small shell script. --JeevesMkII

Notes[edit]
- ↑ Ken is adamant this is not him, a check user on Wikipedia found that both kdbuffalo and VacuousPoet were editing from the same IP range which belonged to a large university. The case hinged on the fact they had similar writing styles.
- ↑ Freedom777 wrote Conservapedia's article on cp:Intelligent Design and was made a sysop. However, he only ever corresponded with Ken and has not made any further edits. The writing style is unlike Ken's convoluted prose and required fewer edits to post than a single sentence of Ken's. It is believed that the article was written by someone else offline and Freedom777 was a proxy for Ken to uploading the article. Note that Ken's Skype name for his SEO services is creation333777.
- ↑ When he is being ridiculed, he will often trot out the phrase, "appeal to ridicule is a logical fallacy". This appears to be the only logical fallacy he is aware of, as he fails to notice at least 12 different forms of logical fallacies in his evolution article.
- ↑ However, no operations or developments of any kind, either exciting or major, have happened to Conservapedia in a loooooooooooong time.
- ↑ And by the way, he’s 45-50 years old.
