Delete[edit]

  1. Incredible cultural and gender bias. Perpetuates the discredited "great man theory" of history. Unfunny listicle. Meant to refute a "theory" of human history that everyone not named Andrew Schlafly recognizes is stupid. We need to cut the excess fat in our essay and Conservapedia spaces anyways. Might as well start here. Carthage (talk) 14:05, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  2. This probably should have been in Conservapedia space rather than essay space anyway. Andy Schlafly once said something incredibly stupid (not surprising because he's a fucking twat who doesn't know shit from sawdust) and this essay is an overlong response to that. It's a bit of our Conservapedia-obsessed past that we can do without. Spud (talk) 12:49, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  3. Nothing really interesting or unique in this essay, delete. A somebody. (talk) 18:50, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  4. It's a bad listicle that drags our essay space down. And it's not like we're picking on any one user here. This is a collaborative effort like any article we've deleted. Pizza SLICE.gifChef Moosolini’s Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 19:59, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

Keep[edit]

  1. Our essay space says: "Discussion is encouraged on the talk page of each essay but the essay itself should not be edited without express invitation by the original author." When essay space was created one of the reasons was to give people who did not actually share our worldview an opportunity to present a different case and thus avoid groupthink. Nothing would be lost if we deleted this one, but I would object on principle as we would then create a precedent for deleting any essay we didn't agree with and thus remove one of the reasons the namespace exists. (Having said that, at no time have we allowed essays which encourage hate-speech or similar things.)Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 10:10, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Be that as it may, what exact reason should we keep this essay in particular? It's also a Conservapedia-related essay, and the Conservapedia section of this site definitely suffers from bloat. We can disregard that this is an individual essay, because it's not, it's a group project to refute an uninteresting bit of Schlaflyite wisdom. There's nothing of substance to be found here, nothing interesting. Just a boring listicle to refute a theory no one other than Andy actually takes seriously with serious issues related to bias and theory. Carthage (talk) 10:25, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
I said: "Nothing would be lost if we deleted this one,". You have not responded to my broader point.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 13:37, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Notice how I said we can easily discard the essay issue and focus on the fact that it's (fundamentally) a Conservapedia article? Carthage (talk) 13:47, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Then you might want to concentrate on CP space where I (personally) would have fewer issues. And you have still not responded to my broader point.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 13:55, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Thinking about it some more I have a compromise. I don't really like "essays" with multiple authors (though few people here will remember me complaining about it years ago). And we have occasionally moved "essays" from essay space to other spaces. If it were moved to CP space and then deleted I would have no problems.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 14:01, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
It might have been better to wait for other opinions before actually doing the move though. I see it happened almost instantly.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 14:09, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  2. Honestly, keep. Ψ (talk) 11:41, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  3. Keep and move back to essayspace. It's deeply flawed, but it's just editors' opinions. Bongolian (talk) 18:45, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  4. Keep and move back to essayspace. Christopher (talk) 21:42, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  5. I don't like listicles, and I hate CP-related content even more, but since we can't delete everything CP-related, I don't see why we should delete this one. GeeJayKWhere all evil dwells Where every lie is true 18:29, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
I think that just because the general consensus is to keep some CP-related articles, that shouldn't mean we should keep all CP-related material. Carthage (talk) 19:12, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Question; is this a theory that they repeatedly, and continue into the present to make? If not, I lean towards 'move back to EssaySpace'. KarmaPolice (talk) 20:05, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Why should that make any difference? Most of our Conservapedia stuff gives a snapshot of the site and its users as they were 14 years ago. None of them trace their development up to 2023. This idea was probably one of those things Andy was obsessed with for a while. Then something else came along and he forgot about it. Spud (talk) 14:12, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
