Iduan, while you're here, can you confirm TK's de-sysoping? Locke User is Vandal/sysop Always Watching...... 01:19, 26 November 2007 (EST)
Uhmm, yes TK was de-sysoped. However, I'm going to ask you not to read too much into that - as I'm not really sure of the circumstances - and if I were to guess, I would assume that this is a temporary move by Andy --Iduan 01:22, 26 November 2007 (EST)
Ok, won't read too much into it, but still, shocking. Locke User is Vandal/sysop Always Watching...... 01:25, 26 November 2007 (EST)

Hi Iduan! I don't know too much about your activities on the other place... but welcome to what is, to many, a safe haven!-αmεσ (historian) 01:59, 26 November 2007 (EST)

Hello AmesG - I'm not really a big shot at the other place - I edit the non-controversial articles and I work on templates - however I'd like to thank you for picking me out as rational on your talk page - nice to get a complement :D. And, while I haven't looked at your CP contribs, my first impression of you is that you are also rational--Iduan02:04, 26 November 2007 (EST)
Hey there Iduan. I don't know if we got a chance to "meet" over at CP, but regardless, I think you may of heard of me. I think it's quite civil of you to visit RW and engage in respectful discourse. Tell the "others" that they're welcome, as well. --Ζωροάστρης 02:12, 26 November 2007 (EST)
Haha, ok will do Hoji - thanks for the welcome--Iduan 02:13, 26 November 2007 (EST)

Good job with your recent edits. They made so much sense that you were archived before the conversation was finished. (I know because I tried to add my own comments and found out the thread no longer existed.) ;-) Learn Together 03:18, 29 November 2007 (EST)

For what its worth[edit]

I would like to applaud you for calling Andy on his - as you wonderfully put it - smart alec remark on the front page. I am not sure how much the accolades of random Rational Wiki types are worth. I'd just like you to know it is something that I wish I could have written (if I wasn't blocked). It is a good thing to occasionally remind Andy about the difference between a blog and an encyclopedia. --Shagie 02:51, 4 December 2007 (EST)

Haha, well thanks for the applause - though I hardly view it as an accomplishment - in fact it was perhaps a failure - as the disagreement went unresolved.--Iduan 23:41, 10 December 2007 (EST)

Friendly Advice[edit]

I really don't think it's a good idea to stomp the ice. I mean, look what reasoning Andy had behind GregLarson. I decided against posting on WIGO for the better part of any discouraging action taken against you on CP. Hey, but like Ames said, you're welcome here! You're good with templates and technical wiki stuff, right? It's up to you whether you want to stick with wiki business in general, but we would appreciate/could always use the help! UchihaKATON! 00:11, 15 January 2008 (EST)
Frankly, I don't know what you're complaining about. CollegeRepublican was clearly the most qualified candidate. In all seriousness, tough break, pal. Stile4aly 00:14, 15 January 2008 (EST)

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to turn down the invite. Frankly - and I'm not accusing any of you personally here (in fact, you guys have been great with the support, I do appreciate it) - I think the vast majority of rational wikians are disgusting. Over the past months, ever since I first got an account on here, I've received harassing emails, I've received notices that someone tried to change the password for my account, and I've found out that emails were sent to other users trying to defame me (I've even gotten emails trying to defame other users) - and then all along you all are claiming some moral high ground through pages like WIGO. It's the kind of liberal hypocrisy they talk about on Conservapedia. And also, I'm not even really sure what the point of this site is - there seems to be some divide between those who want to destroy Conservapedia and those who want to be the second Uncyclopedia; and frankly there's just way too much disorder for my taste. I'm also not sure why you would want me given that I don't align politically with any of you - and frankly my presence here would only result in debates. So no, thanks, but I'm not interested--Iduan 01:48, 27 January 2008 (EST)

Well... you seem like a pretty good guy, and debates are often fun - but of course it's also fun to contribute to a place you feel you "fit in", so it's understandable if you don't find RW quite to your taste. I'm sorry about the harassing emails and whatnot, that doesn't sound very nice at all... On the note of liberal hypocrisy, though, know that RationalWiki is still pretty much a semi-disorganized mob, so we can't exactly claim responsability for the actions of all users, especially outside the wiki itself. UchihaKATON! 01:58, 27 January 2008 (EST)
Not that it's any of my business, but may I inquire as to who sent said emails? Pinto's5150 Talk 02:00, 27 January 2008 (EST)
I suppose (note: I actually only caught this note by chance, I'm kind of heading to bed now, so do excuse me if I don't respond to any post after this) - I mean the only two harassing emails I got were from some random emails - one i remember was something like imagecko@gmail.com - and the other I've forgotten, however the severity of those emails was enough. And, I got about ... checking now ... 20 emails notifying me that someone had requested a new password for my account - and frankly, even though obviously less serious - it obviously isn't pleasant to have to edit knowing that people are trying to hack into your account, and then do who knows what (and have everyone think it was you). So yeah, it's just been a rough month or two - so excuse my bitterness if you will, but I just feel a lot safer on a site like Conservapedia, where at the very least users seem less ... cold (and again, I fit closer to the CP ideology than the RW ideology anyway).--Iduan 02:06, 27 January 2008 (EST)
Do you know that the harassing emails came from here? What sort of things did they say? It all sounds rather odd. Would you be prepared to post some of the text?--Bobbing up 03:41, 27 January 2008 (EST)

That really doesn't sound like any of our regulars. TK, maybe, but none of the usual suspects. --PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 11:35, 27 January 2008 (EST)
TK is the first thing I thought of, or maybe one of the trolls like the New Gwenson family who just want to stir up some...excrement. But TK's style is divisive (and often extremely nasty) emails, so it wouldn't surprise me. --Kels 11:37, 27 January 2008 (EST)
Looks like you won't be on CP or RW then? A pity (in both cases)! I guess that gives me no other choice but to wish you the best for whatever you do, wherever you do it. Maybe we'll run into each other somewhere; I'm certainly looking forward to it! --Jenkins 11:42, 27 January 2008 (EST)

So how do we go from a couple of e-mails from an account with no connection to RW and some e-mail spam that could be created by any random user to the "vast majority of rational wikians are disgusting" comment? Hell of a generalization there. tmtoulouse vex 13:17, 27 January 2008 (EST)

A willingness to hate? Oh dear, I'm sounding like TK himself now. Anyway, it would be nice to see evidence of these emails, of our 'liberal hypocrisy' - it's so easy to fake stuff on the internet, as I shall demonstrate in the next 5 minutes. --מְתֻרְגְּמָן שְׁלֹום

system emails[edit]

"ever since I first got an account on here, I've received harassing emails"

Any email sent via the "email this user" link is clearly identified in the "from" section with the editors username.

While email can be considered private (as opposed to on-wiki posting), simply telling us who the offender was/is might lead to a nifty kangaroo court, or perhaps some hilarious on-wiki hand wringing over appropriateness.

I have also received harassing emails via the RW system, however, the sender was a well known inciter of background dissent so I ignored and deleted them.

Anyway, whether you stick around a bit and enjoy some goat pilaf, or move on to other pursuits, I hope the memory of your discomfort and perhaps maltreatment at CP soon fades. Goatspeed! humanUser talk:Human 16:10, 27 January 2008 (EST)

Iduan, we went through a nasty bit of purging of a certain Troublesome user; quite a Knot it was; but I like to think that those days are behind us. I'd sure like to get into some kangaroo court fun again with people who may still be harassing you. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience here, but I think you got the worst of our users. Contest advice[edit]

Not sure if you're watching this page or not. Make sure you get a sysop on your team... probably Crocoite (for the breaking news, but then he doesn't write any articles - maybe you should let andy have him). Fox might be a good choice - he does a lot of blocking and reverting. Let Andy have Max - see if he gives Max night edit rights but not you, oh wait, Max already has edit rights... that would really suck wouldn't it? Andy giving night edit rights to his team but not the other team (didn't he do that in contest 3? - and he gave it to Max [1] , and Dewey [2] , and TheGuy [3] - what a suprise, they were all on his team[4]) The way it looks, you're the only person who is in this contest who can't edit at night. I wonder if Andy is trying to use his admin power this time around so that he can break his loosing streak. --Shagie 02:01, 17 February 2008 (EST)

Cronkie, The Onion and Liberals[edit]

Should do a search for 'clinton' or 'obama' and see if it still is liberal (go back and read the articles from the '90s for a good time). Its a parody newspaper, just as MAD is. Its not a liberal one. Some fun articles on that - [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] Citing the Onion for anything is just... well, funny. Its not liberal, its mocking anything that takes itself too seriously. --Shagie

The other simple fact (and it is defiantly a fact) is that Andy and his homeschoolers are incapable of writing decent quality material for the site, let alone high quality stuff. Andy's inability to work with people that are frankly smarter and more talented than he is will be why the site never grows. It will simply become filled up with more and more trash like his liberal articles. Trash not even from an ideological stand point, but poorly written, poorly constructed, unsourced, clap trap.

No it wasn't - and I was able to ignore it (luckily) - since my lead off article allowed me to do almost all that I would've done had it been a normal article. It hurts to watch[edit]

I can understand being a pathetic lickspittle when there's some tangible reward to be got. It makes sense to grovel to people in power when there's something they can do for you that you might actually want. But, see, what you're doing here is helping people who don't have the tiniest bit of personal regard for you and aren't going to give you anything meaningful. The company you're now keeping on the Influential Conservapedians? Yeah, I think you know each of them. They're morons.
