Sysop[edit]
So who wants to be the one to make this exclamation-pointer a sysop? Can it be me, can it, can it? Is it too soon? ħuman 01:11, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll try not to eff it up. Is there any paperwork for me to sign? RaoulDuke 01:13, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- I did it, only to beat Human at it though.Ace McWickedCurrently Lurking..... 01:15, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Psssst Here is a guide. Ace McWickedCurrently Lurking..... 01:17, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
EC There's an instruction manual around here somewhere. You can pick up your special key in the lobby; it only works if your co-worker uses theirs at the same time. Oh, and if you have the correct arming codes handy. ħuman 01:19, 25 September 2009 (UTC)- I dont have a key, I showed up the day they opened. Jeeeesus I am bored, it Friday afternoon at work and I have spent a few days away from RW which means I got all my work done. Now I dont know what to do and just got told off for throwing a knife into the ceiling. Ace McWickedCurrently Lurking..... 01:22, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have a target in my basement for throwing knives. One day I will add a pistol range for my Walther. For now, I must go to Wisconsisn. --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 01:24, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Stubs[edit]
Good to see somebody stubbing out reds. :-) --BobNot Jim 14:56, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sump'n to do. I'm more of a history-politics-lit guy than a science guy, though, so I'm not sure how useful I'll be in the long run..RaoulDuke 14:59, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- While our main aim is supposed to be pseudo-science we're not afraid of politics either. Pseudohistory comes in from time to time too. Can't think of an easy fit for literature though. Nice to see you around.--BobNot Jim 15:10, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
LOL wut?[edit]
So are you actually TOP, or does your template just say so? There doesn't seem to be any "wink, wink, I am he" on your talk page. I'm normally about two weeks behind the curve on figuring these things out. Corry 03:57, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I am that I am. RaoulDuke 04:06, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Does that imply that your name lacks vowels? Corry 04:18, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Beck[edit]
Cheers for that cite. I'm still surprised he'd rather take the woman over the rich-white-guy, though. theist 14:34, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'd imaginge Hilary is as-rich-or-richer: from what I recall, John was carrying over a quarter-million dollars in personal credit card debt last year. That being said, he also couldb't remeber how many houses he owned. I think Beck is lying through his teeth though: saying he's've done what he couldn't have done (it's not like Hillary was even on the ballot for President) it makes him look "Fair and Balanced" at no real cost to himself. Like PJ O'Rourke said, "If we had eggs, we could have bacon and eggs, if we had bacon." If Hillary had won the nomination and the election, Beck would be saying Obama would've been the better choice...RaoulDuke 14:57, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Are you serious?[edit]
Do you really believe this whole nonsense about the Falkland war being about oil? Or are you just trolling? MarcusCicero 20:53, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
e mail[edit]
You don't appear to have email enabled. Just sayin' I am eating & honeychat 21:52, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- oops. will fix. RaoulDuke 21:52, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
What the hell is your problem?[edit]
Why can't you just debate? Stop trolling. MarcusCicero 23:15, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- Please see my last post MC. Ace McWickedI'm a pretty big deal around here... 23:16, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Maggie Thatcher[edit]
Are you prepared to behave like an adult on that article now? I daren't revert you, because undoubtedly you will accuse me of vandalism and trolling, but the sum total of your edits there are so childish, and so ridiculous that you make yourself into a parody of a person. Will you please, for the love of God just grow the fuck up and allow me to edit it in the interests of reality??? MarcusCicero 11:24, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- MC, if you want factual, snark-free articles that are no fun whatsoever, stop coming here. That's not who we are. Stop trying to make this place what it's not. The line about the Falklands adds a teeny bit of fun to what is otherwise a pretty lame and boring article. Your tantrums are doing nothing to convince me or anybody else that there's Some Sort Of Problem with the wiki. The problem is entirely yours. RaoulDuke 13:23, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Stop misinterpreting what I'm saying. I don't disagree with snark, but that very term is indefinable by nature due to its subjectivity, and so it often gives the off the impression of ignorance and childishness. That is exactly what your Maggie Thatcher edit does. Please try to remember that this place is called Rationalwiki. That implies the primacy of reason - which sadly is not present here.
- Whatever happened to your reasonableness? I seem to remember a time when you thought I had something relevant to say. Why the change? Are you even TOP? MarcusCicero 14:10, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm really trying to understand your problem with the line as I put it in; it argues, in essence, that at the time, and since, the reasons expressed for the Falklands war, and popular perception of what that war was about, are contested, at best. The article as I last saw it expresses that sentiment in a way that very much fits the general tone of this project. You remind me of these people I meet at conferences who are So Smart and who do Research that is So Politically Relevant and So Important that there is never any room for fun when talking about readings/issues/work with them. Everything simply must be Taken Very Seriously because there is so much At Stake. You know what, MC? Those people are boring, and annoying, and nobody likes or respects them. Don't be that guy. RaoulDuke 16:15, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- As for the question of whether or not I'm really TOP, why don't you have your brother ask me? RaoulDuke 16:23, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

- Your reaction inspired me to create Debate:Definition of Snark, now that the initial hysteria about me being the anti christ seems to have dissipated. Please try not to troll my debate this time. MarcusCicero 13:42, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Headin' over there to troll it. RaoulDuke 14:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Better?[edit]
If not just tell me and I'll work on it some more.
Where's the wandalism?[edit]
Umm, here, here, a little here, perhaps some here, oh, and a little here. This s the same shit this moron has been doing for weeks now. Including all the lemonparty shit. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 23:52, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Crundy. That's not vandalism. it's someone expressing an opinion. RaoulDuke 23:53, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- As much as I hate to agree with RaoulDuke, and yes, this does pain me, he's right. The only thing wandalistic about it is if it's claiming to be MarkGall when it isn't. theist 23:56, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- And even not really being MarkGall barely counts. I'm not really RaoulDuke, after all. RaoulDuke 23:58, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, you know what I mean. Impersonation is pretty dishonest and just done to stir trouble. theist 00:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I have been to this site only twice: today, when a user was pretending to be me and I was alerted to it, and a couple weeks ago, when I needed data to train the liberal style bot. I haven't been doing anything for weeks and have nothing to do with any "lemonparty shit". In any case, I'll stop adding nominations, but I'd encourage you all to look in a mirror: the users on this site are as guilty as anyone at CP of many of the characteristics for which you're giving your "awards".
- As for not being MarkGall, I see you have brilliantly tracked down the university where I study. You'll find this is consistent with my claims at CP. The only impersonator here is the one who registered an account in my name. -- The real MarkGall
- I will sysop you if you give me the algorithm for the liberal style bot. No joke. You'll have to create an account, though. --The Emperor Kneel before Zod! 00:06, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Mark, this isn't CP. Please create an account (with a similar username if you like) and we'll respond to you. Adding troll bait to random pages makes you look like a twat. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 00:09, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Hell, I'll sysop you for nothin' if you create an account. RaoulDuke 00:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- For the record; not everyone at RW is guilty of this. Yes, there are a few who are obsessed with Conservapedia and put as much thought into their criticisms of it as Andrew Schlafly put thought into reading Richard Lenski's paper but it's certainly not true of everyone, especially the more senior editors. Secondly, what Crundy did in tracking down the IP address is wrong and it will get removed and revision-deleted as soon as I can. And finally, are you really serious about the Liberal Style Bot? Really? theist 00:11, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Are you serious? Anyone claiming to be a computer expert who then posts their IP publicly for all to see deserves everything they get. If I didn't do it then anyone could have copypasta'd his IP and done the same. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 00:13, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Crundy. We don't do that on this site. End of story. RaoulDuke 00:17, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I have no interest in registering here and no plans to make any further edits. I don't care if you don't respond to me or even if you remove my nominations, though I think they should be given due consideration. I was hardly adding troll bait to random pages (it was only to the relevant page), and I don't seem to be having any trouble getting responses without registering. For obvious reasons discussed already at CP I will not make the code publicly available, but the algorithm is more or less that given in Essay:Quantifying Liberal Style.
- I've never claimed to be a computer expert, and I don't really care that you know my IP -- I've posted about where I study before. I can always just get a new one if I need to, there are plenty to go around. It'll take a /8 block to get rid of MIT if I ever fall out of favor at CP. -- MarkGall
- @ToP: Show me where we say that. @Mark, perhaps you should create an account, like "TheRealMarkGall" so you can answer any criticism here like Jinx hi Jinx! and RobS do. Belive it or not we don't like to get the wrong end of the stick and welcome comments from the other side of the playground. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 00:23, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

(UI) Seconded. You'll get a sysop within minutes as well. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 00:30, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate it, but like I said, I'm not planning to stick around. Leave a comment on my CP page if you want to talk to me. -- MarkGall
- "Leave a comment on my CP page if you want to talk to me"?????? You do not know much about that site, do you? DickTurpis 00:37, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Personal information about other RationalWiki users that is not volunteered by that user should not be posted on this site. This includes IP addresses, and even where an IP address is volunteered, discussion of the user's geographical location, place of employment, or other private information based on their IP address (even if publicly available) is frowned upon." RaoulDuke 00:35, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Fuck. Owned. Fine, oversight / revert as you see fit. But note that I'll still be doing it for my own amusement in case assfly does ever show up. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 00:39, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
