prokaryote?[edit]
Is a prokaryote. ? You do know that germs fall in this category right?--TimS 15:09, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
- :) I didn't bother to look up eukaryote, but I was pretty sure what I meant, yes. humanbe in 15:17, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

- My father loves to recall an old Marty Feldman routine where he goes on at length about this fellow he knew, and all the men he was friends with..a lot of sailors and so forth, coming to visit him every night..always coming back to the phrase, "Funny he never married." --Kels 14:25, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

- See the original article and this edit. For what it's worth, I'd be fine with that, but I took it out because the consensus seemed to be against commenting on things like that, no matter how funny they are. --jtltalk 18:27, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- I am officially speaking against that so-called consensus. Calling him gay is not an attack, it's a simple description. Assuming it's an insult is tacitly agreeing that being gay is a bad thing. --Kels 20:23, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- To us, yes, it is a simple truth. To the family, it is a deep dark secret, and that is a very important factor in describing these arch right wing political types. Our Vice President is another miserable hypocrite on this issue, which is why I created the second category (well, redlinked it) you'll see on her article. humanbe in 21:03, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- I noticed that already, well played. But honestly, given what we say about Roger and Andy in their articles (or rather what you guys say, I haven't contributed there (yet)), why are we shying away from calling a gay guy, well, a gay guy? --Kels 21:05, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- One maybe-essential difference is, as far as I know at least, John hasn't participated in Conservapedia or any other online forum. --jtltalk 21:39, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
- I was under the understanding he was out? Is that wrong? If he is, it's just a simple declaration, nothing to get worked up over, same as saying he was white or liked the colour blue or something. --Kels 21:46, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

He is out. The fact that ASchlafly suppresses all mention of John's sexuality, whilst giving tacit approval to CP's rabid anti-gay rhetoric, makes it noteworthy, I'm afraid. If he'd come right out and say, "Yes, I believe my brother's going to Hell," then I'd happily support never mentioning John again. --Robledo 21:54, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Wizard of Oz reference[edit]
While this claim is not backed up by the closed captions on Wizard of Oz.... In the commentary on a Simpsons episode, when we see the marching guards outside Burns' mansion, they mention that their chant is actually "All we own, we owe." Take it for what it's worth.--Lardashe

I have a question about the {{fact}} template. Is the dispute over whether there are details out there to be found, or is it because there may be some editors of RationalWiki who want to know them? --Edgerunner76Your views are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter 12:20, 20 November 2008 (EST)

I was typing "Misogyny" (meaning hatred and fear towards females) and it redirects into this page about phyllis schlafly. I kinda find it humorous, but that word deserves it's own article.--Dark Paladin X (talk) 20:02, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Comical mention[edit]
Mrs. Schlafly was recently the punchline in a local comic strip and citing the "informalness" of this site, I thought the editors might be able to include it.

“”Sam: What could possibly be your problem with the ERA?
Ainsley: It's redundant Josh: Why are we talking about the ERA? Sam: She's doing a thing Josh: Yeah, but it's not back or anything though is it? Sam: Certainly not if Phyllis Schlafly over here has her way |

Requested Citation[edit]
For the passage, "Schlafly's next-door neighbor in Alton, a housewife and active Republican, accused her of being 'an exponent of an extreme right-wing philosophy—a propagandist who deals in emotion and personalities where it is not necessary to establish facts or prove charges.'", I have edited the entry, requesting a citation. This is quite the specific claim, and a quick Google doesn't seem to find any corroborating evidence for the quote as it normally does. I will continue to look for independent verification, and add a citation if I am able to find one. ChrisB (talk) 08:17, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

When to keep and when to get rid of a joke[edit]
Currently, the article is included in Category:Animals. It's an okay joke, but it's also an incredibly juvenile joke—you could slap that on any person we didn't like. I can take it or leave it either way, but I'd like everyone else's input on when a joke should be kept versus when it should be removed. - Phyllis Schlafly was a vocal activist who fought against the progressive movement's attempt to reduce the disparity in opportunity between men and women in the workplace, and who was personally responsible for much of the destruction of the Equal Rights Amendment's hopes of passage. She remains a delegate for the GOP and pushes for a continuation of backwards social policies. Her accomplishments have been vile. They merit an articulate response and condemnation, not the wearisome grinding of a juvenile nickname that would begin as tedious as the oft-repeated "Assfly" has become.
- You are terrible, and when the sun ages and swells into a majestic red giant and the Earth falls from its orbit and is consumed in nuclear fire, your proposal will remain the worst idea ever conceived by man, surpassed in its idiocy only perhaps by Bio-Dome. In the black stillness of the universe's heat death, when all is quiet and even the minutest particles have decayed and their uncertain remains do not even shiver, there will be an echo of your foolishness.
- No.--talk 23:22, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
