Welcome[edit]
Hello, I have recently been made aware that I due a large inheritance totaling 7,000,000 GBP. I don't trust many of the people I know so I need a bank account deposit this into so I can move it out of the country. If you give me your bank account you will share in my inheritance. This is not a joke. I am for real. Acei9 00:36, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Great morning![edit]
Alright, I'm really just ranting here to blow off steam. But any suggestions to fix either problem are welcome..
So, I woke up today, felt nice and rested. Walked onto the back deck, noticed one of the koi in my pond was acting weird. Like, swimming in spirals and gasping for breath. So I go down to investigate, and find most of my fish gone. I went to bed with 19 fish (8 of them koi) and awoke to only have 7 fish (3 of them koi) 1 of the remaining koi seems to have brain damage from the whole episode, and isn't likely to survive the day. He was the one swimming in spirals. All told, about $300 of fish are missing. Some of them where new, and may be hiding in the rocks, but I won't know for (probably) weeks. It appears to be a raccoon. I'm going to go buy bullets this afternoon. Fuckin' raccoon..
So after trying to deal w/ that, I come back in, and look out the front, and notice the mailbox is open. I go to see why.. Some kids took a baseball bat to it last night. It wasn't even a cheap mailbox. it was a really cool, wooden one. It's still up, but needs to be replaced/fixed... Really, I'm lucky it's not more messed up. But judging by the damage to it, I have to assume that the kid's hands hurt like a bitch from it. (The fact that it's still up implies it provided a shit-ton of resistance.)
I'm so ready to go back to bed..
So. Any suggestions on how to fix the mailbox? I'm looking for broken wrists/fucked up car next time. Quaru (talk) 15:36, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Wow! Shit day. Do you have herons in your neck of the woods? My dad had his pond (about the same of fish) emptied in one morning once. It's surprising how much the fuckers can eat in one sitting. No idea on the mailbox. Why not buy a metal one, wire it up to the mains, and hope that the kids have a metal baseball bat (don't worry about the postie dying, they can always replace him/her)? CrundyTalk nerdy to me 15:54, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Cameras? 15:57, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- At first I thought it was a crane, as we have a pair of nesting cranes on the property, but there are pieces of fish left.. scales, fins and such, which shouldn't be the case for a crane or heron.. That's what made me believe it was a 'coon. And I know we have plenty of them. I had to pull a half-eaten 'possom out of a tree a month or two back that a 'coon pulled apart. There were also no feathers in the pond, which I guess doesn't mean anything, but I would have expected to find some.. As for the mailbox, I'm thinking steel re-enforced, or possibly booby-trapped... like, steel re-enforced, paint packet, and nails sticking out... Really fuck up anyone who hits the box... Camera's would catch them. But where I live, could be problematic. Not to mention expensive for a mailbox. I want them caught because they had to get their asses taken to the hospital/repair their car... But, I'm likely just mad that I lost my fish. And I just bought that mailbox this spring. Quaru (talk) 16:05, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I wouldn't have a clue how to do it, but I think small cameras could be installed a distance away from the site of feeding/vandalism and triggered to record on movement. I know over here (UK) a small easily hidden wired camera can be bought for under £50. (Maplin) Even with infra-red they're not gonna break the bank. Insurance co might reduce premiums too. 16:13, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also: net/wire-mesh over pond? 16:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Not really practical. lots of plants and such. Plus, I like to like... walk over the bridge through the middle of it.. I do have a net to cover it in the winter, just useless the rest of the year. Later today, I'm going to get some live traps, and put them in areas I think the 'coons walk. Quaru (talk) 16:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also: net/wire-mesh over pond? 16:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Man-traps are probably not a good idea. However, there's nothing wrong with a box on a thick steel pole filled with concrete. Yer in Flint, don't tell me there's no neighbor with a welder and some spare time - David Gerard (talk) 16:26, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- I was thinking a good solid, 1/4 inch thick steel mailbox on a solid steel post. if you hit it, you'll break something. That's really what I'm going for, here. It's them hurting themselves. "My attempts to commit a felony resulted in a broken wrist" is not likely to get them very far. That with my wooden cover, with red paint packets between the cover and the box. So the paint will explode all over the car/interior. And, Susan, I'm glad you mentioned the cameras.. I'm looking now, I may be able to get a "starter kit" in the $150 range. 2 wireless cameras, w/ receiver. And, in fairness, I live just outside of Flint. I don't really have neighbors. But I am friends with the township supervisor, and I'm sure I can get him to help me weld something up. Quaru (talk) 16:35, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. A mailbox built like a fucking tank is what I'm thinking of here. Covering it in a thin layer of wood is a most amusing idea - David Gerard (talk) 16:47, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the one I have now is in a cedar cover. So I want to replace that, as I like it. But want it stronger for next time. so more re-enforced wood. And the wood saved the box itself. it took the brunt of the hit's force, and had enough give to keep it safe. If there was mail in it, it'd be A-ok. Also, the wooden post I have(also cedar), with steel supports held up really well. So really, I was thinking of having some screws face out on the side they'd be likely to hit it again, and hope it fucks up the bat, as well as hold up against the force. Quaru (talk) 16:55, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hehe, steel mailbox with a wooden exterior, and fill the gap with anti-climb paint so they get their broken wrist covered in greasy paint. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 19:09, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- sold. i just have to find a place to buy it. Quaru (talk) 19:47, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Re: fishies. I've never done an outdoor aquarium, but one idea occurs to me: provide better cover so the fishies can hide from the ebil predators more easily? Also also, keep cheaper fish so it's less painful to lose them. Also also also, teach them to use firearms, win win all around. ħuman 10:52, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Raccoon problem[edit]
Solved.
Caught him last night in a trap, carried him out back, 30-06 to the head. He won't eat my fish again.
On the bright side, the 2 smallest koi have been seen. So I still have 2 large koi, 2 small koi, and (i think) 4 gold fish. Though, at the moment, I only see 2 goldfish. So it is possible the other two were gotten last night. Quaru (talk) 23:04, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Fraid I side with the 'coon. Us warm blooded ought to stick together agin the cold blooded. (Don't see the fun in fish: I had some in m pond: the died off & I've not bothered replacing them) 23:12, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- His meal was more expensive than any I've ever had. and it makes it a matter of time before he gets in the chicken coop. Chickens warm-blooded enough? What about if the coon gets rabid and bites my dog. Dog worth protecting? If he'd not eaten the fish, I'd have let him go far away. Those fish were pricy. Total value? $650 in koi alone. He lost my sympathy. Quaru (talk) 23:16, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- A raccoon that gets a 30.06 to the head doesn't smash the mailbox again! - David Gerard (talk) 23:23, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- EC) I'm a towny and I'm afraid that's not a towny's way of looking at it. I've never reared anything bigger 'n a hamster. We don't have rabies over here & the only 'coons I've seen have been either cute and cuddly or 'toon 'coons. Supose you're right but still don't see the point in fish though. 23:26, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Fish as "pets" are very relaxing to watch. They also perform biology experiments if you are lucky. Also, they's pretty colors. ħuman 10:54, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- But really, this raccoon was causing lots of problems.. I had to dig a 'possom out of a tree that he'd dragged up and left hanging from a branch a few feet from the deck, I found a torn up groundhog just on the other side of the driveway. Just numerous problem with him killing all sorts of stuff, and leaving it in horrible places, that I have to deal with. I really am a "live and let live" kind of guy. We have lots of predators on the property, and as long as they keep away from the house, I let them do their thing. But he didn't give me that option. Quaru (talk) 23:29, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I would have bust a cap in its ass too (provided they aren't protected / endagered?). CrundyTalk nerdy to me 15:02, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

- Zen's way too complicated. I do vipassana and eat lots of pills. Works like a fuckin' charm. Also, while I'm late to this party I have a similar tale to tell. My mom's garden was getting faceraped by squirrels so we did 2 things. First, we tried havaheart cage traps, which worked fine, but were slow going because she had to empty them promptly before they were useful again. Then we tried a 4 foot tube made out of galvanized roofing material wired shut and filled with fruit and peanut butter. Put the tube right next to the tree the little bastards were using to gank mom's tomatoes. Worked a lot better. There would be up to 2 or 3 squirrels at a time in there thrashing around. Grabbed them with welding gloves and tossed them into a plastic tub with a rag soaked in starter fluid. 20 minutes later a pile of squirrels done gone to heaven. Lots easier than explaining 30-06 shots in an urban backyard. ÑR/Señor Admin/¡hablen ustedes! 02:00, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

So after all this, the next morning I woke up, and the 2 large koi were missing, as was another gold-fish. Since then, we've caught 3 more raccoons, but we called animal control out to kill them. They're such jerks. We got the mom the other day, and the youngest baby yesterday. So I think we're done now... Quaru (talk) 14:12, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi, This is John's brother. I know he has been using this account for a variety of reasons, none of them productive for his troublesome history of mental health problems. For obvious reasons I don't want to go into details about this but suffice to say my mother and father have decided to withdraw his access from the internet for the duration of his most recent treatment process. I apologise on my brothers behalf for any problems he may have caused this website during his period of instability. Not to mention it's been decided that MC's edits are allowed to be deleted on sight. I will, however, state in my edits in the future why I'm deleting his useless posts. And I know I've been quick to do things like that, so no hard feelings. It happens. I was just confused, since it appeared I had followed the guidelines. Quarurock - You can't explain that! 15:17, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Really. Don't sweat it. I don't demand defenestration here. But now that all that is sorted. Back to archive with MC! Quarurock - You can't explain that! 15:48, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Re: MC[edit]
Sorry I blew up this morning. I'm just so sick of him. I apologize in advance if I just fed the troll too much. I'm out of here for a bit, I have a family reunion across state tomorrow, and have to leave shortly. going to pack. so my lack of posting should not be construed as anything else. I may be on all weekend. But I may not be on again 'till Monday night. Who cares?
And MC, since I KNOW you'll post here. Fuck off. I don't care. if no one deletes your shit, I will the second I get home. Do yourself a favor, and post to my troll sub-page, then maybe I'll leave it. Or at least have a convenient place to vape your useless shit. Quarurock - You can't explain that! 13:44, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, where have you gone?[edit]
Now that the dust has finally settled, please come back! Conservative Punk (talk) 01:11, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- What dust? I've just been crazy busy. I've still been lurking, and even made some small edits.. But life has demanded more time lately. I should be back around "soon". Quarurock - You can't explain that! 13:57, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
