Lotus Eaters is a far-right podcast and webshite that promotes conspiracy theories, anti-LGBT, anti-veganism, COVID misinformation, global warming denialism, eugenics, and misogyny. Similar to other far-right websites such as Aporia Magazine, it campaigns against multiculturalism and "wokeness". It is not about eating lotuses.

Dan Tubb, the podcast host for Lotus Eaters, is a proponent of the moon landing hoax, claiming that there is no evidence that Apollo 11 landed on the moon.[1] This pretty much sums up the buffoonery and lack of intelligence at Lotus Eaters.

History[edit]

Lotus Eaters was created in November 2020 by Carl Benjamin. According to Hope not Hate:

The Lotus Eaters is a podcast and media platform set up by misogynistic influencer Carl Benjamin (AKA Sargon of Akkad). Benjamin first came to notoriety via his YouTube channel, which was involved in the so-called “Gamergate” phenomenon, where misogynistic video game enthusiasts mounted harassment campaigns against female game developers and journalists.[2]

Benjamin is a misogynistic online far-right influencer who has made offensive comments about raping female Labour Party MPs:

Mr Benjamin wrote on Twitter in 2016 that he "wouldn't even rape" Ms Phillips, the Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley. In 2019, when he was standing to be a UKIP MEP, he refused to apologise and later went on to say: "I've been in a lot of trouble for my hardline stance of not even raping her. I suppose with enough pressure I might cave. But let's be honest, nobody's got that much beer."[3]

Benjamin promotes the great replacement theory.[4]

Lotus Eaters gained mainstream criticism in May 2024 after Liz Truss appeared on their podcast.[3][4] Truss used the podcast to promote her own conspiracy theories:

“Whether that’s the gender ideology which is trying to lie, fundamentally, about biological sex; whether it’s the degrowthers who don’t believe in progress … or indeed, things that we believe in like equal rights, freedom, democracy, when we’ve got people on our university campuses, on the streets of London, campaigning in favour of terrorists who want to destroy those very ideas,” she said.[5]

Podcast[edit]

The Lotus Eaters podcast has featured numerous eugenicists, far-right influencers and white nationalists. For example, Raw Egg Nationalist is a frequent speaker.[6][7][8] Jonathan Anomaly and Edward Dutton have spoken on the podcast.[9][10][11][12]

Writers[edit]

Raw Egg Nationalist is a writer for Lotus Eaters.[13]

Racist pseudohistorian Simon Webb is a writer.[14] Articles by Webb include "The Cult of Diversity" and "What’s So Special about Being Gay?".[15][16]

Eugenicist Jonathan Anomaly has written an article "The End of Liberalism".[17]
