edit filter log[edit]

I actually don't see how the content of those edits from the Saloon archive could be available in the edit filter log, as you indicated in your email to me. @Techpriest should be able to confirm whether that's true. Bongolian (talk) 16:14, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

I believe I understand what Blobcat was talking about. I dealt with it. Rabbitseatcarrots (talk) 18:01, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
It was possible for any user to access the removed text in just 3 clicks: Special Pages - Edit filter log - (look for the line about the offending page) - details. I waited to give this info until that line was removed to avoid a Streisand effect. blobcat (°U°) 18:45, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
@Rabbitseatcarrots told me that the issue has been fixed. Thanks. Bongolian (talk) 19:11, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Sysop[edit]

Because of your edits to and time on the wiki, wizard Sysop has been added to your user rights. Feel free to let your newfound POWER course through your veins. Once the high wears off, see RationalWiki:Sysop guide for more information. If you have questions, bleat ask away. Vee (talk) 16:20, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Are you able to move pages?[edit]

Can you please move the page Stopped clock to Stopped clock moment? It is a better fit for what the article is about. Erik10012 (talk) 10:06, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

I can rename Stopped clock but I will only do this after it has been discussed on the Talk:Stopped clock page. blobcat (°U°) 01:01, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Blocking spambots[edit]

Be careful. Most of the accounts you've blocked are obviously bots from the name alone, but it's much easier than you'd think for a legit new user to trip the filter. Plutocow often does the same thing, but they have the advantage of being a tech, and so is able to see the actual contents of the offending edits and rule out false positives.

The consequences of failing to block a bot are most likely nothing, worst case scenario one creates a page that lasts five minutes and is then banned anyway. Christopher (talk) 23:53, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

To be fair, they seem to only be blocking those who trip the filter multiple times, or ones that try to create pages that are obviously spam from their titles alone (e.g. "Get Important Cell Phone Identity Information Online.") Usually, in those cases it's safe to assume that they're spambots. Plutocow (talk) 23:57, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
That's the reason why I always wait for a second entry with the same name in the edit filter log. I don't think I have blocked a false positive this way, but if I did, I apologise. blobcat (°U°) 00:24, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
I generally wait for two edit filter trips to block an account. For a single trip, I use the vandal bin. --Luigifan18 (talk) 00:44, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
