PalMD's the Medico here. Sorry for my slow reactions - I'm do9ng this on a pda & gprs Keepthe faith 04:37, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
I've not been on here long myself. I started last week masquerading as a male (unwarranted fear of mysogeny!) and then got fed up with trying to head to head with heart of gold (a cp editor) who was on here then - he's left now so I've demasqueraded. Btw that's how nice they are here - they made him a sysop! (apparently regarded as demotion here) even though he was a rank cp-er. TK was also on here 'til last week. Keepthe faith 05:01, 23 July 2007 (CDT) (Sue G)
Ooh, it's right chatty here! is it a love bomb? Right, back in a tick when I've made me tea. Did TK get blocked for some completely arbitrary, badly-explained reason? Totnesmartin 08:23, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

- Hello and welcome. Maybe we should have a "Love Bomb" welcome banner?--Bob_M (talk) 09:33, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Bob, that may be the most insane idea I've heard all day, I'm torn between reveling in it's genius, and running for my bloody life. Oh, and welcome, don't s'pose you'd care to fetch some tea for the rest of us, would you? And in case you haven't already, pull up a Goat. Locke Random 10:11, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Hello and welcome. Maybe we should have a "Love Bomb" welcome banner?--Bob_M (talk) 09:33, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Last I saw of TK, he was Leaving And Never Coming Back (for the sixth time), due to the Liberals' brutal persecution by not making him a sysop no matter how much he whined. --Gulik 12:15, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- TK never cared if he was made a sysop. His point was that the proclaimation that all RW1.0 members would be automatically made sysops somehow was never applied to him. In effect - rightly or wrongly - he was treated here similar to how you were treated at CP. He was pointing our the hypocracy. For maybe the only time ever TK was absolutely right.
- As I remember (and the record shows) TK trolled right from the start, insisted on sysopship for spurious reasons, and generally was an unproductive pain in the ass, and was treated accordingly. In fact, he was given far more latitude in those activities than someone who wasn't from CP would have, so don't talk to me about him being treated badly. --Kels 14:56, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- I can only defend the indefensible so much. I'm not sure he intended to be a troll but he definitely became one after a minute or so. MANY people here definitely bent over backwards to include him. But I still think it's wrong to say he whined to be made a sysop. He never put himself up for it and he only used it to make a point about (perceived) hypocracy. I'm sad he's gone. Truth is CP and RW are both pretty boring without the friction of the two sides.

- "all RW1.0 members would be automatically made sysops" is a misinterpretation. Colin offered to RW1 people -the "cabal", essentially - who wanted to be to ask him to make them sysops. TK's claim to be "part" of RW1 was fairly spurious anyway. Not that any of this matters anymore. He managed to make a graceful retirement a few days ago after not really being around for weeks. humanbe in 15:03, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

I'll have to put the kettle on again. Milk and sugar? Totnesmartin 10:13, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Please! One or the other! Both together is practically barbaric! --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 10:15, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
strange, after reading a few random pages I was starting to think there was an American bias here, but now we're all talking about tea! Jolly splendid, chaps! Totnesmartin 10:29, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Canadian here, longtime tea drinker. Used to take sugar, but gave it up many years ago on account of it being utterly vile that way. Milk for black teas, none at all for green, herbal and twig teas.
- Used to drink that other stuff, but as the song goes, "My curse on him that gives me coffee". --Kels 15:00, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- One teaspoon loose Earl Grey to two spoons Yorkshire Tea here, milk but no sugar. Decided this was the perfect mix after weeks of experimenting in the office when I was a bored civil servant. Oh yes, and milk first...XD prettydilettantelies 15:26, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
American Bias[edit]
The bias is more North American, and exists mostly because our religious nuts are nuttier than yours. But lately there's been an influx of UKers, probably washed in by the floods. It's about time, and welcome. Love tea, btw, but can't figure out why you folks like to ruin it with milk.
- Ruin? That's how the best tea is made!, according to this [1] (only the Brits could do research like this). What I can't understand is why you guys ruin your tea with salt water :) Totnesmartin 10:45, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Salt water? What ARE you smoking? And I can say, quite honestly, that the only thing I have ever had in my tea, is tea (And the ocasional squirt of lemon juice, but that's beside the point.). Locke Random 10:47, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- salt water... as in Boston. Incidentally, I've just created this article. Share and enjoy! Totnesmartin 11:06, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

- Yeah, well, at that time, we were a little cranky bout some taxes and such. The best tea purveyor in the country is still in Boston (Upton actually). This isn't an add, simply a testimonial.162.82.215.199 11:15, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- I think that Yukes probably make the worst tea in the tea drinking world. The recipe in the article is excellent but not common practice. Hurling a teabag into a mug and dropping lukewarm water on it followed by 4 or 5 spoons of sugar and a slurp of milk - that's the normal way to make a cuppa. (I've spent 40+ years in British industry and believe me I know. Everywhere else tea is treated as something special and care is taken. I've even had a good cuppa in France (turns round three times spits and says 'Whurra' to break the bad luck).

- I saw that edit and fell off my chair. But, I was drunk at the time. It reminded me of when I showed Andy hwo to get a list of red links. This is an interesting topic that might make a good article - since CP is "anti-WP", most of its users have very little familiarity with the software that most people pick up at WP. Ironically, the first wave of psychos who joined in March or so (kicked off WP, essentially), were rapidly made sysops because they knew how to use the software! There ought to be a book: "Wiki for Paranoids". humanbe in 13:04, 28 July 2007 (CDT)

Cryptic Message[edit]
I have been conducting an experiment concerning a Douglas Adams Creation, which is in two parts. You are the only person to have rumbled part two of the experiment. I now confirm your suspicions, and so does Harry's tedious-sounding teacher. However, here is my plea. If you also rumble part 1 of the experiment, please do NOT tell a soul.
Hm. I notice that you have already spread the word - incorrectly as it happens. Pity you didn't contact me first...
Damn. My three month experiment is falling to pieces...
--CatWatcher 11:01, 30 July 2007 (CDT)
- I have no idea what part one is, but I promise not to go ferreting for it. In future, try not use science fiction characters, because the fans can be rather all-knowing and obsessional about their fave show/book/film, as this actress reports after playing a one-episode character in Red Dwarf:
- The people who write to me don't even know I'm in The Bill - they write to me purely about playing Pete Tranter's Sister.
- Too late; Thunderkatz has spilled the beans here. The experiment was to see how long the article would last in two separate online encyclopedias. The CP article predates the WP one by a month, in fact.--CatWatcher 11:26, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

Having only just got my coat off, away I go again. I've been thinking recently about what I'm doing with my life, and of all the interesting things I can possibly do, editing wikis is just one, and I've been neglecting the others. The Lennon userbox has been changed to be able to edit whether it says "he's", "she's", or "they're". I'm going to change yours to the way it was, and you can change it further if you want to. Friendly message from Project whitewash[edit]
You are receiving this message because you signed up to participate at project whitewash. If you no longer want to here from me about this then just remove your name or let me know. I want to create a push to get as thorough coverage as possible for two new categories the first is Category:Best of RationalWiki and the second is Category:Almost the best of RationalWiki. Both categories should tell you what belongs in each. If you could take some time to go through the article space and the essay space and label these with the corresponding categories it would be very helpful.
