Hello, Crundy. I haven't seen you around before, so I thought I'd say "hi". : ) Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 17:07, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

- Mmm. While over-the-top and a bit of shock, I won't say I disagree with your words. You merely expressed what many think but not say. : ) Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 19:53, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

- Also just check that it isn't following on from something already mentioned. Of course, if it was days ago (or outside the EZ edit section, which is all people can be arsed to read) and someone's resurrecting it add a new entry by all means, otherwise add it as an update. Solomon Grundy[edit]
Are you any relation to Solomon Grundy? I know that your name has a "C" and his has a "G", but those two letters look very similar. I'm not sure how I know Solomon Grundy, seeings how he's DC and I'm Marvel. But, I have been known to break a fourth wall or two now and again. I especially remember twelve fourth walls I broke at once when the Hulk punched me through them. Uh oh, gotta go. Golden Girls is on. | -- Deadpool Hey, everybody, look! I won! I won! |

- Yeah, you're really not missing much. About the only thing that I do is make people sysops with little to no regard for how short a time they've been here. I still believe that, for a vandal, user rights is all about the means and not the ends. So, I think that my comparison of CP (chess) and RW's (musical chairs with an extra chair) user rights policies is apt. --Edgerunner76Your views are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter 11:31, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Beer[edit]
Hey Crundy. I was wondering how long the brewing process takes in order the get the 5 gallons you've just bottled? I've wanted to brew my own for sometime now but have just never got around to researching it. Rad McCool 07:30, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Depends on what kind of kit you get. If you get an ale kit or a bog standard lager kit then primary fermentation takes about a week. Then:
- 1) If you're making ale, you can just syphon it off into a primed pressure barrel, leave for a couple of weeks, then drink, or
- 2) If you're making a lager then it's best to rack off into a secondary fermentation vessel and leave for a couple of weeks, then prime and bottle, and leave for a couple more weeks.
- The lager I was making uses a proper lager yeast (the bog standard lager kits use ale yeasts) which means primary fermentation takes a while longer, and you have to condition it in the bottle for at least 2 months.
- It's definitely worth a crack, because you can make the booze for as little as 30p a pint after your initial setup costs. Just make sure you sterilise everything before you use it. Let me know if you want a quick equipment / starter guide. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 08:18, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks Crundy. I am going to do a little research next weekend into what size and specs I can handle but once I know I could use your advice. Rad McCool 09:45, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK. The things you need are:
- 5/6 gal Fermenting bucket (about £12)
- Syphon (a couple of quid)
- Sterilising powder (£1.50ish for a small vial)
- Hydrometer (optional, but useful. About £2)
- Airlock (if your FV needs it. About a quid)
- Pressure barrel (upwards of £28) and a gas bottle (£20, refillable) or 45 bottles (free / about £8 / 15) and a crown capper (£10)
- That's it really. The kits cost between £8 and £20, the cheaper ones need a kilo of sugar / dextrose / spray malt (between £1 and £4). It's a fun hobby, as well as the obvious benefit of ending up with booze at the end of it. What type of beer are you looking to make? CrundyTalk nerdy to me 10:00, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Shake'n'bake meth is made the quick way - though less pure and more explosive. Can be made in about hour. Usually (around these parts) people drive around town with it brewing in the boot. Ace McWickedThe Liquid Room 18:49, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

- ALways been an Ale or Lager man myself. Don't drink a lot of beer at the moment but that should change if I start brewing my own. Although "shake and bake" meth is also sounding appealing now. Rad McCool 22:06, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Shake'n'bake[edit]
You were wondering about shake'n'bake? NZ has a massive meth problem, even the CIA world factbook makes note of NZ's high 'phetimine use. Though I myself have never been a significant consumer I have had a few friends go over the edge. AceMcWicked 20:46, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Beer[edit]
Waiting patiently in my kitchen....Why does it have a Bombadier label? AceMcWicked
- I told you that! I thought I'd ran out of nice homebrew bottles so I quickly sterilised a leftover Bombadier bottle and filled that. It is drinkable now, but just tastes like gnats piss and doesn't have good head retention. Remember: keep it upright in a cool place for a few weeks and then refrigerate until the chill haze clears (another few weeks). CrundyTalk nerdy to me 20:52, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

- We bought an Eglu, and looked around at some hybrid breeds of chickens (we weren't really interested in purebreeds) and in the end we realised that the ones Omlet sold were actually very good breeds. We therefore have a Miss Pepperpot (cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Maran) and a Gingernut Ranger (cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Light Sussex). They're OK really, but exceptionally destructive. They scratch a bit too much for my liking. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 08:53, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Beer[edit]
Is the beer reaqdy to drink yet do you think? Was thinking of opening it soon - after chilling it a little. AceMcWicked 22:19, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- I've been drinking them, but because of the excess fizzyness you'll have to follow this process:
- Chill in the fridge for 2 weeks or until the chill haze disappears and it goes clear again
- Using a bottle opener, very gently ease the edge of the cap up to release excess pressure
- Do this 3 or 4 times over the space of a hour, chill again for at least an hour
- Open quite quickly next to the sink with your pint glass at the ready
- The head will start foaming as soon as you open, so quickly but carefully pour into your glass, and leave the sediment behind at the bottom
- Let it settle for a few minutes before drinking!
- Apologies for sending you one of the massively overprimed ones! Let me know how you get on. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 08:47, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Economics homework grading[edit]
The example I referred to is here. It's a particularly horrible bit of grade inflation for two reasons. First, he takes a very lax attitude towards an economics student not understanding when or how to use compound interest calculations - at a minimum he should be encouraging the student to re-read the lecture and do some practice problems, and to contact him if the student still is unsure of the concept. Second, he gives out three "minus 1" penalties for wrong answers, but apparently leaves one off when he gives the final grade of "48 out of 50". --SpinyNorman (talk) 15:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- Added, thanks. One has to wonder what the lowest score possible on that test would be. If you only lose one mark for answering a question completely wrong then if you simply write your name on the top and answer none of the questions you'd achieve a score of 90%. I wish grading was like that when I did my GCSEs! CrundyTalk nerdy to me 15:59, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

The obituary appeared in the newspaper on the day of his birthday. Aboriginal Noise What the ... 03:29, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Assassins Creed 2[edit]
I haven't played it (I have yet to obtain an Xbox) but a friend of a friend on my course has come down with quite a serious case of Assassin's Creed 2 and he hasn't attended any lectures for about a week. SJ Debaser 17:56, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes this sounds like a typical case of AC2osis. It is a fucking cool game. Takes a while to get interesting though. Just today I got pissed off with all the buskers in the street mobbing me and blocking my path, so I stabbed one to death in the neck with one of my hidden blades. I did get told off for killing a civillian though. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 21:39, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- You can kill people in it? That sounds awesome. SJ Debaser 21:41, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I too was quite surprised that a game with "assassin" in the title involved killing people. Hey ho. I'm off to play the racing game "super chess wizard" now. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 21:44, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- I suppose in Assassin's Creed 3 they could focus more on the creed itself. Imagine a game in which players get to sit in a dimly lit room discussing the creed, with perhaps one player taking on the role of the scribe. Newbies could fetch the paper and periodically bring in tea and biscuits to aid the creative process. I'd buy that game, but then I've spent far too many years designing water systems in SimCity. I saw that Assassin's Creed has made it on to the iPhone. Might have to give that a pop. --Ask me about your mother 21:49, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- My all-time favourite computer games would be either a) Grand Theft Auto (specifically San Andreas), and b) The Jak and Daxter series, as a was an adorable little ragamuffin when the game was released. Now I've sprouted into a monstrous hairy cunt. SJ Debaser 21:56, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- The new Sam and Max games are fucking awesome (if you like point-and-click that is). CrundyTalk nerdy to me 22:06, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- StarCraft II is coming soon, so all other games except WoW and Angband, will become obsolete. --Ask me about your mother 22:10, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- I know I haven't actually played it and so I can't really judge, but I really really don't get WoW at all. Also, I'm not a heavy gamer (unless we're talking weight) and so having to pay monthly as well as for the initial licence seems fucking odd to me. CrundyTalk nerdy to me 22:18, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a bit much unless you're planning on getting some decent hours in. The only part that really annoys me is having to pay for the expansion packs. --Ask me about your mother 22:24, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
