I'm in.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 06:24, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Welcome! I guess I can skip adding the welcome links, you can look at Template:Welcome if you don't want to miss the "standard greetings" experience. :) Do have in mind that you are not the only one Wikipedia refugee. That and the... following you have in certain circles probably means that the next few weeks on the wiki will be "interesting". :|--ZooGuard (talk) 08:26, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Are we sure he can be trusted considering what's happened already? Also how do I get rid of the captcha?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:37, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Many of the big edits he's made have been reverted. It's a small enough wiki that you can go through all the diffs in under an hour each day. --TiaC (talk) 10:59, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
How are you guys covered when it comes to f2p mobile phone games because I've had something in my drafts on Wikipedia for months now.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 12:09, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
The captcha will go away when you gain autoconfirmed status. As for TD, RationalWiki has a strong traditional bias of generally not kicking people out just because their, errr, ides do not align with the rest of the user base. See the "About RationalWiki" bit on the Main Page: "We welcome contributors, and encourage those who disagree with us to register and engage in constructive dialogue.", etc. It all dates back to the Conservapedia-obsession time and "RW is not like Conservapedia". And most people here probably even don't know who TD is, so...--ZooGuard (talk) 12:42, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

F2P mobile games themselves are probably off-mission, but "Fremium is Not Free" is probably on mission. Also, catchpa probably gone now. Hipocrite (talk) 14:33, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Electrons[edit]

Bastards had it coming - David Gerard (talk) 08:45, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

desysop[edit]

Hi. What was your basis for removing sysop from Exiled Encyclopedist? What has he done on this site which merits that action and how would removing sysop stop him doing it again?--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 13:18, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

He is a major problem editor here who has been given and taken away the rights multiple times. There's a discussion at David Gerard's talk page presently.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 13:28, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
If you want to remove someone's sysop status then yoi need to make the case here - not on some user's talk page.--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 13:30, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Ok, wasn't aware of process. Still, there's plenty of discussion over there to look at.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 13:31, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Then copy it to where it should be and see what the community thinks. At the moment the person who seems to be abusing their sysop privileges is you.--Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 13:33, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Also, RationalWiki:Chicken coop/Archive33#Exiled Encyclopedist, Weaseloid, ZooGuard, WatcherintheDark edit dispute resolution is interesting.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 13:36, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
It was pretty arguable that Nutty reopping him despite EE's seriously problematic behaviour was pretty damn arbitrary as well - David Gerard (talk) 13:43, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Unlocking your ED talk page[edit]

I left a reply, but the discussion was archived before you responded. Like I said, I don't know your account's name. "Ryulong" hasn't been registered yet. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 20:00, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Well, I had an account before it was .es and .se.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 20:31, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
You can just re-register your account then. Even if you don't have anything to say, re-registering it should prevent people from impersonating you. Also, you need to enter and confirm an Email address before you can edit. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 20:42, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
So they only saved the DB for the mainspace? How odd.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 00:21, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
We didn't have assess to the original DB. Everything we have is from web archives and caches. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 00:35, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Ouch! What a loss to mankind! That's almost as bad as the 12 January 2008 crash of TVTropes. Landmartian (talk) 00:43, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
I thought there were DB dumps around or whatever.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 03:17, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
The original ED never offered DB dumps. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 13:35, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Adding autopatrolled[edit]

The autopatrolled status does not grant any rights not granted by sysopship. Therefore, some people will by sysops but not autopatrolled. It doesn't actually affect them, so you don't need to bother giving it to them.--TiaC (talk) 02:56, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Okay. Also, TiaC, please for the love of goats tell me how to get rid of the gators.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 02:57, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Chrimony[edit]

He had something or other about PC Gamer trying to avoid conflicts of interests. I've asked him to put his sources into the form of an edit that could be added to the article. I don't follow Gamergate. Please look at his edit here and tell us what you think is right/wrong about it, preferably with sources. oʇɐʇoԀʇɐϽʎzznℲ (talk/stalk) 18:40, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

What's with the long blocks on IPs? --MtDNotorious Sodomite 05:49, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

Proxy—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:54, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
So what? You've evidence of this? You've discussed this with the community? This isn't WP. --MtDNotorious Sodomite 05:58, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
The WHOIS info says it belongs to a Russian hosting company.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 06:05, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
ok? Still not wikipedia, long IP blocks tend to be shunned here. --Miekal 06:57, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm thinking of commuting these blocks. They seem inconsistent with RW practice. --MtDNotorious Sodomite 06:59, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
I made one only an hour but that other one is definitely a VPN.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 07:07, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
you seem to have missed the part where that doesn't matter. Blocks should not be long, no more than a few hours to at most a few days. My dropping a 10 year block on EE/CS for being a doxxing idiot was an exception, not a precedent. --Miekal 07:21, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Duly noted.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 07:23, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
But am I supposed to suffer to a STEMlord on Talk:Anita Sarkeesian now?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 07:53, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
You could just stop replying. You don't get to block people you don't feel like talking to anymore.--Miekal 07:54, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
I don't intend to block.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 07:55, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Mikael sometimes you shit me, and sometimes you nail it. This is an example of the latter. Ryu, we tend not to ban people unless they have truly exceptionally poor behaviour (promoting paedophilia for example). Keep adding good content, but go easy on the ban hammer. Tielec01 (talk) 08:21, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Ryulong, you lost your ops at WP for a reason and you run the risk of endangering them here. Have a care in future, what? --MtDNotorious Sodomite 10:18, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

I am not planning on doing anything that you think I might so why bring it up, again?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:20, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Well all good then, old thing. Srsly, don't drop more than a few hours on an IP, even if they look like a proxy or a VPN. When in doubt, seek the advice of a wiser player. BobM or Sterile spring to mind. As mentioned above, you generate good content, your contribs are are valued and all that. --MtDNotorious Sodomite 10:38, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

Ryu, you know that there's no point in talking with them. They're way too deep into the anti-gamer conspiracy and will twist and ignore anything you say. So don't waste your time responding to rambling BoN's and new accounts. At this point I'm starting to think that they're popping up here only to bait you into arguments. Typhoon (talk) 10:28, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

At least I can tell people not to buy Etherlords now.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:34, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
That Russian guy is unstable. I've hatted the discussion. Typhoon (talk) 05:45, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
I'm a girl, btw. Thanks for hatting, at least someone tried not to be so harsh. It's hard to be person with asperger's. =) --92.242.1.155 (talk) 09:30, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
In English, "guy" is slang for a person of either sex.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 09:52, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Oh, wow. Thanks. :) I didnt know that. --92.242.1.155 (talk) 10:29, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, let's be nice to the non-native speaker. Depending on context, particularly when gender is clearly ambiguous, "guy" can be genderless. Conversationally, there's a lot of circumstances where it implies a gender very strongly. Ikanreed (talk) 14:33, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

You have a new friend[edit]

He seems quite interested in your work here. oʇɐʇoԀʇɐϽʎzznℲ (talk/stalk) 04:16, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Oh wow. I think that's seriously a troll from Wikipedia who followed me here to troll me here. Please tell me I can banhammer him longer.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:32, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Chrimony 2[edit]

Why did you block them? Tielec01 (talk) 09:38, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

being unfunny and crocodilian.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:16, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
"We welcome contributors, and encourage those who disagree with us to register and engage in constructive dialogue." Since they were keeping it to the talkpage, I see no reason to have blocked them. We've certainly had far worse around these parts. Noisemobile (talk) 10:59, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Fuzzy Cat Potato and others blocked him for the same or similar reasons though.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 19:08, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Then Fuzzy Cat Potato and others shouldn't have done so. - Grant (talk) 19:11, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
And it was only for an hour and it expired several hours ago already.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 19:12, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
I didn't see FCP do it sorry, mate don't block people for fun unless they are a sysop and can unblock themselves. No matter how annoyed you are, we welcome dissent here and part of that means putting up with some silly arguments. I note that you have been told this more than once - perhaps it would be best if you didn't block anyone for anything for awhile until you get a feel for the community standards. Tielec01 (talk) 02:15, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
It would be nice if we had a coherent blocking policy.
(Btw, not sure what block(s) I did... I blocked Chrim for 3sec and blocked Norman for a total of 5min. oʇɐʇoԀʇɐϽʎzznℲ (talk/stalk) 02:37, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
FCP I've seen that conversation and been meaning to weigh in, but I need to get some time to read your proposal properly. Tielec01 (talk) 02:42, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Great! It's not much of a change -- it just moves the material from the CS and sysop guide to blocking policy. oʇɐʇoԀʇɐϽʎzznℲ (talk/stalk) 02:46, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Is it wrong to block someone intentionally harassing me?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 02:47, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
In a word - 'yes'. I see you have decided to ignore the good-natured and friendly advice that has been given to you by multiple editors here and instead banned The Geenius for 3 days. Are you stupid or just intent on ignoring everyone? Get your head out of your ass and grow a skin thick enough to withstand an argument on an obscure wiki. Tielec01 (talk) 04:16, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
I have been through a lot of shit today and I don't need gators getting their jollies at me here. This is nothing about arguments. This is harassment plain and simple. I am not going to sit here and allow someone to take potshots at me just because he thinks women shouldn't make video games.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 04:30, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

I've read the guy's contribs. He's only here to drag drama from some other part of the internet onto this wiki. No value to be found in unbanning him. AgingHippie (talk) 04:39, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

AgingHippie, I could copy-paste your reason to block Geenius and apply it to Ryulong too. We don't ban people because they are making us cry. Ryulong, if you feel strongly that Geenius should be banned take it to the coop, or just continue to alienate the people who would otherwise be defending you. Whatever works for you. Tielec01 (talk) 05:02, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
These assholes are kicking me while I'm down. All I did was 3 days. Hell, you were all on my case for blocking Chrimony for an hour.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:33, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Yeah we don't like banning, sorry to hear that you are under stress, but please understand that we are cutting you alot of slack already because you produce good content. Most people who banned users like you would have a torrent of abuse unleashed on their talk page. To reiterate, just step away from the banhammer. Try ignoring people instead - it works wonders. Tielec01 (talk) 05:46, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Ryulong, do you have any interest in editing an anime-based wikia wiki while the flaming dies down? We have more stringent banning policies there, so we would be able to ban anyone flaming you until you're in a better place.192.249.47.186 (talk) 01:13, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

TotalBiscuit =? "GamerGate figurehead"[edit]

In the Gamergate article section Gamergate attempts to "weaponize" porn I see that TotalBiscuit is referred to as "Gamergate figurehead John "TotalBiscuit" Bain". My understanding is that he is publicly neutral on the Gamergate subject, so that seems harsh/unfounded. (Apologies if those aren't your words; I just saw that you were the last to edit that section. Naturally, I would rather post this on article's talk page, but I can certainly appreciate why it is locked!) —Abacusmethod (talk) 10:08, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

If you think that TotalBiscuit is neutral then I've got a bridge to sell you.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:10, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
I see it now. Yeah, it doesn't take a lot of digging: on Jan 16 he tweeted "Ooh it's harrassment!" "Ooh it's a hategroup!". Yes every hate group runs around asking people to update disclosure rules. Literally KKK!. Ugh. Maybe figurehead is indeed the right term, 'cause he seems so respectable that me makes the perfect upstanding trojan-horse for GG with his ethics spiel. But I do appreciate his videos... does this mean I shouldn't? I think I'm gonna need counseling now—I feel violated.
Care to sell me that bridge now? Is there some reference credible enough for the article? (I don't mean to sea-lion here; I just want to be sure, if only for my own sanity.) —Abacusmethod (talk) 10:33, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Ctrl+F Biscuit.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:37, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
That's a helluva link. Thank you for your quick response, Ryūlóng. I had no idea he was in on the ground floor with the Zoe Quinn slut-shaming avalanche. Disgusting. Seriously, though, where do I apply for counseling :) Maybe a simple UN-SUBSCRIBE on his YouTube will do the trick. At least I still have Jim Sterling and Moviebob to count on, right? —Abacusmethod (talk) 10:53, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank GOD for Jim Fucking Sterling Son.
But in all seriousness, I try to separate someone's art or performance from who they were or are as a person (unless the negative aspects in question are the subject of the art/performance itself). I still enjoy Cosby Show, Seinfeld, 30 Rock, Saturday Night Live, Ace Ventura, Pulp Fiction, Cast Away, the Ring of the Nibelung, etc., despite the people that may have been involved in their creations. Noir LeSable (talk) 23:06, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Anything that's come out his own mouth/fingers is good enough as a ref for him having said it. This is blatant enough that calm understatedness with WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM of citations would make the point marvellously. He's a perfect example of why bragging about your IQ is a surefire mark of the doofus - David Gerard (talk) 10:42, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh, right, IQ. Might as well brag about your phrenologic measurements. —Abacusmethod (talk) 10:58, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Warping[edit]

RW has some very strong traditions against removing posts from talk pages without archiving them.--ZooGuard (talk) 08:21, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

A gator was gating here so I felt like I did not wish to have it on my page anymore.~ the insistence to use the formatting in my signature led me to believe his actions were not in good faith.—Ryūlóng (琉竜)
Ryulong, I have promoted you due to this reason. Feel free to argue your case there if you wish. If another sysop demotes you again there will likely be a community vote on whether you should be a sysop. Tielec01 (talk) 09:27, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
You really have no clue as to what has been going on with all these assholes do you?—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 10:16, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Answer to that is either "No." or, due to my automatic assumption of malice in all cases, "Yes, which is why he's doing it." --Castaigne (talk) 23:58, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
You've got me, been here 4 years as an undercover troll just in case Ryulong ever came over here. You've read through my ruse like an open book, to enact long-standing community standards that mean we tend not to take information outside of RW into account when judging behaviour on-wiki. Oh woe is me; undone by the two smartest users on the wiki.
PS. how did you know I was a he? Tielec01 (talk) 01:47, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Nah, you're just one of the standard anti-SJW and/or MRA crowd that's been around here since inception, like Smerdis. Or I should say, like IHCOYC XPICTOC, as I've always known him. It's not like I haven't seen the "objective" schtick before; it was old when I was still on Usenet. And please, don't go all stentorian with "long-standing community standards/traditions" when this place is an anarchist mobocracy. It doesn't scan with me. --Castaigne (talk) 07:36, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
How do you know so much about me, it's like you are a mind reader, get out of my head! Please tell me what I was in a previous life too, I suspect I may have been a pharaoh. Tielec01 (talk) 08:37, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
Previous life? Further evidence you are in the wrong place.. We don't go in for that rot here. --Castaigne (talk) 03:03, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
