RationalWiki:Chicken coop/Archive103
A summation[edit]
People here often point out my blocking record as a reason I should not have sysop, but as I frequently endeavor to point out, only to get ignored, I have substantially improved my blocking record over the past few months, from previously permabanning individuals for mere vandalism to blocking 3.6 days and, in the case of users, blocking 3.6 days and/or putting them in the vandal log. I may be a toxic individual, but I am not a bad sysop. I hereby request that I be placed out of sysoprevoke, and, if anyone sees fit, to have my sysopship restored. I have an edit warring problem, yes, so an alternative solution is that I be given a temp ban from sysopship, maybe a month, and then have it restored after that date, depending on if I have stopped edit warring or not.
In fact, if you see by Nutty's statistics, I rank only third in number of infinite bans, third again in long bans (well, what Nutty defines as "long bans"), second in ban evasion blocks, and third in IP blockers. I think my sysopship should be restored on basis of these findings, if we're gonna allow GC, cosmikdebris, and Bongolian to have sysop, despite the fact they rank higher than me in every category except Morris bans, then why can't I? Matters of temperament are a different issue, and I believe that was solved when I deteched myself.
The percentages are also apropo, with me only filling in mere single digits for most of them, even ban evasions.
I've said many times before I`m not good at explaining myself or documenting things, but those always get brushed away as excuses. One more thing, an argument used against promoting GC was that he contributed a lot to the wiki, but that was brushed aside when I brought that up, it was deemed "irrelevant," since I too have contributed a lot to the wiki. There we go with these double standards again.
I also rank third again in rollbacks.
Now, hopefully, you see why I feel like I've been treated unfairly. β Oxyaena Harass 20:06, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- While I don't think it was unfair that you got put in sysoprevoke given the circumstances, I would support some kind of restoration of your sysop role as long as there are fairly strict probationary conditions attached to it and I think some others probably would also support this in principle. It's probably in the best interests of the site and you to have some kind of break from being a sysop in the meantime but this doesn't have to be pernament if you can avoid screwing anything up. - To be honest Oxy's second proposal (waiting for a month or so in Sysoprevoke, then having the mop returned pending good behaviour) was something I was thinking about proposing. I think her attitude to blocking has improved over the past few months, but there's still room for further improvement. A month to reflect on it should be enough. If not, a return to sysoprevoke will still be an option. --RWRW (talk) 20:20, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- It's better not to. Oxy has some serious issues with power and if she wants to edit, she can do that. The issue is that she attacks newbies, scares them off (e.g. Ary). Give her 3 months without sysop and see if she has changed. I very much doubt that she needs sysop powers considering what we witnessed. And I am saying this with very amicable intentions. β Godless Raven talkstalkwalkbalk πΉ 20:23, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- Also, she opened like 6 different threads on this very thing. If someone is this craven for power, my intuition is that it's probably better not to allow that to happen. β Godless Raven talkstalkwalkbalk πΉ 20:24, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I never viewed sysoprevoke as permanent. Indefinite is not interchangeable with "permanent"; it can also mean "until further notice" and can always be appealed. That being said, that time can be used for more productive editing and maybe to have someone else handle the blocks and reverts. I don't know if a month or 6 months or 2 weeks is appropriate, that'll be Oxyaena's decision. --It's-a me, LeftyGreenMario! 20:25, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

A month would be fine, a week too short, six months too long, and @Raven, please do something else. I promised EK I wouldn't get involved with you, I'd appreciate if you do the same. β Oxyaena Harass 20:33, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- I genuinely think 3 months would be ideal, if that period proves that she causes no issues, I would very much favor giving her sysop back. β Godless Raven talkstalkwalkbalk πΉ 20:36, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- I think Oxy should be taken out of sysoprevoke at some point but I think now is premature. I think some time is warranted considering the overwhelming vote for the sanction as well as its intended purpose in hopefully getting Oxy to reflect upon the consequences of her behavior. - I don't know how long her sr period should be. I certainly would like to reinstate her if it were possible to do so without this sort of thing beginning again. Most important would be the terms of her probation. I suggest they include that for a certain period any sysops that observes her to break the rules be authorized to promote and block her for a short period. Ariel31459 (talk) 22:33, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hereβs my deal. If we remove the sanction and Oxy proves she learned nothing by abusing tools and being toxic to people again, then weβll have no choice but to impose an even harsher penalty. Iβd prefer to avoid that, so I think she should stay in sysoprevoke until weβre sure the lesson sticks. Chef Moosoliniβs Ristorante ItalianoMake a Reservation 22:37, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- I'm with @Ace McWicked on this one. Ever since the last mod election, Oxyaena has not displayed anything like the level of maturity that I'd want to see in anyone with rights above autopatrolled. I don't think I will vote for her rights to be restored any time this year. Again, I strongly advise her to cut the dramatics, try to avoid conflicts with other users and concentrate on making edits to mainspace and WIGO. Again, I strongly urge her to stop complaining about a punishment she considers to be unjust because I don't think it's going to do her any good. Spud (talk) 00:07, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Since GC is not around I will presume to ask if a grammar correction is called for Spud.Ariel31459 (talk) 00:23, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

@Ace McWicked Again, I'm with you. Hence why I said, " she considers to be unjust". In my opinion, the punishment was fully justified. Spud (talk) 00:58, 24 June 2020 (UTC) A vote which ended far too early, and I was told that only mod votes were being counted, @Ace McWicked. β Oxyaena Harass 05:45, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- It was up long enough to see 11 wanted you in sysoprevoke and the lone dissent was you. Where did it say only mods? Finally, Oxy - it is done now and it won't be reversed so quit your whining. Accept the community believes your behaviour was shitty enough to warrant the removal of rights and move forward in demonstrating that you should have them back at some point. Complaining isn't helping your cause. AceModerator 07:09, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- I would also like to see where it was stated that only mod votes count for such things. Who said this? Under what authority? Where?
- It seems to me that a such a specious attempt to avoid the result of the vote along with an attempt to reopen the matter should result in Oxyaena losing rights till at least the end of the year. At least that way we won't be looking at this matter again in the Coop until 2021.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 07:48, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- I can see no reason for Oxy to continually reopen the case and repeatedly try to claim it was invalid or some other criteria was involved which negates the vote. Oxy, again, drop it. Can we now archive this shit? AceModerator 08:07, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- There is no reason not to archive this now. Spud (talk)
- I`m quoting what a close friend of mine, who's also a mod here, told me. β Oxyaena Harass 11:23, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Well, whatever you were told privately holds no water. This was an open vote. You lost. Deal with it. AceModerator 11:41, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- But why donβt you let that mod come here and explain why they told you this in private but never alerted everyone else? Why did they let the vote go to a community vote? Why didnβt they tell the other mods? Sorry bud. Please give it up because itβs over now. AceModerator 11:43, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- So, if I understand this correctly, one of the reasons Oxyaena is asking for the vote to be overturned is based on a private conversation with an anonymous editor who apparently doesn't understand how the site runs. And who furthermore didn't even bother to turn up to vote in her favour. As I said previously - we need to stop this drama for the next calendar year.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 13:33, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Out of curiosity, if Oxy doesn't stop asking over and over and over about this subject, will she ever get punished? She is dragging the website all the time about this and it's annoying. β Godless Raven talkstalkwalkbalk πΉ 12:07, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
