I can't deal with the twistedness of ASK this week. PJR and apparently Bradley live in their own, isolated world. Sterile nuclear reactor 12:52, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

- I'm half tempted to write an essay on "the intellectual dishonesty of PJR's creationism" here, but it's not worth it. Perhaps we're at the last exodus, and PJR and Bradley can stare at each other making their personal wiki regurgitating CMI. I can't imagine how long Philip can afford to keep it on-line. - Wait a second... there's an implicit denial of the Germ Theory in that article. ERVs create or "are" viruses? Excuse me, wha? By definition they are now encapsulated in the genome of the host animal, and thus no longer "viruses", which is why we have to make the distinction that they are ERVs. I do love though that apparently these ERVs are not "new information" that an offspring would have that their parents do not... because that would violate the principles that genetic modification cannot produce new information. --Eira OMTG! - I think it's less so about education level. There is a lot of study into pedagogy that suggests that the vast majority of people hear educating text, and simply use it to reaffirm their existing beliefs. Namely, that people actually do the fucked up backwards science that we constantly jab creationists with not through malicious intent, but just because that's how the typical human appears to be set up. --Eira OMTG! Hamster vs. Cake[edit]
I wish to debate you regarding the recipes of Hamster vs. Cake. Hamster actually doesn't have any flour in it. But the interesting question is, since cake is mostly just sugar, beaten eggs, and milk, couldn't it be said that a cake is simply Hamster + flour and baking? --Eira OMTG! The Goat be Praised. 03:19, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you add just a small amount of flour it firms up the Hamster slightly and keeps it from softening in the heat. Its a pastry chef type of trick to keep things good in varied temperatures. Its a little bit like a pastry cream thats made with flour. Addd more flour and bake in a water bath and you get something more cake like. This was on a cooking show recently. You are right about the Hamster / flour etc = cake.
- Ah yes... I definitely could have used that when I tried to make my mint chocolate-chip Hamster. I whipped the eggs up to soft peaks, whipped the whipped cream, and turned to look at the eggs, and they had already fallen. Took them forever to even get to soft peaks in the first place. I should have known better... another trick, I know of is to use corn starch, this adds less flavor per stabilizing unit, and is actually why they recommend to use confectioner's sugar, because it has corn starch to prevent caking. But you're pretty much right on the dot, if I added flour and cooked a Hamster, I would get a cake. :) Have you tried frozen Hamster? It's awesome. It doesn't require constant churning like ice cream does, because it's stable on its own, however it comes out significantly more fluffy than creamy, and melts super fast. But still a big yum! (For the record, me vs. Hamster right now is 5 to 1... Hamster's favor. :( I totally get why some people just go with flavored whipped cream, and call it Hamster.) --Eira OMTG! The Goat be Praised. 07:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Then what the hell is a flourless chocolate cake? I always viewed it as a wet but firm souffle. ÑR/Señor Admin/¡hablen ustedes! 17:49, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, a Hamster isn't cooked. Reading a recipe for soufflés the differences are: you beat the eggs to stiff peaks instead of just soft peaks. You cook it. :) So, yes, a flourless chocolate cake would be a soufflé, which if uncooked, would be a Hamster. --Eira OMTG! The Goat be Praised. 19:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- you need to be careful with whipping eggs with an electric mixer , its easy to get them warm. Sitting the mixing bowl in a bed of ice can be a big help if your kitchen is not cool. I have a Kitchaid mixer with a whip for that sort of thing. Is a pain cleaning the bowl though. A flourless chocolate cake ? sounds wierd ? I get hit for calling stuff souffle, but hey if its beaten eggs what else is it ? Hamster (talk) 19:57, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also, avoid doing it when it's 80-90° out... unless you have some good air conditioning/swamp cooling. --Eira OMTG! The Goat be Praised. 20:10, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Swearing[edit]
I dislike aggresive swearing. I don't mind swearing when it is done in a friendly or flippant manner. That said, different people have different standards. If you are a guest in someone else's home, if you know they have an objection to swearing, you respect that. Yet, you swear on aSK? You can have whatever opinion you want of Philip or anyone else, but when you express it by swearing, you just make yourself look bad. (((Zack Martin)))™ 06:13, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

- Well, the original meaning of swearing was taking God's name in vain, e.g. God damn you!. The meaning in English has shifted; it no longer principally refers to that, but rather refers to the use of shit and a number of similar words. Obviously when I say "swearing", I mean it the contemporary English sense, not in the historical sense of the word. (((Zack Martin)))™ 08:50, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- you and Philip should get along well. You both seem to redefine terms to suit yourself. Common english states invective as swearing and nothing I typed fits that definition. Please stop messing on my talk page. Thanks bye. Hamster (talk) 15:47, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Wiktionary, defines "swear" as (sense 2) "To use offensive language." It is a well-known fact that the word "shit" is commonly considered offensive in English, especially among more conservative types (which defines Philip and co). Offensive language can be invective, but isn't necessarily (it can also be neutral or even friendly). Sorry, we don't redefine words, you do. (((Zack Martin)))™ 09:27, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
