Alaska[edit]
I donβt think weβve seen many users from there. Cool. (Literally and metaphorically βcoolβ.) Iβm from Washington State. --Goatspeed. All holidays matterπCircularRasoningπPrototype lab 07:14, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Why thank you ^^ and that's an interesting coincidence given how many weird connections there are between Alaska and Washington! (Might be because a lot of airplane layovers from this state are made in Seattle.) Only other state I think has as much connection with ours is Texas, though thankfully they didn't drag over too much of their political scenery here! I guess the cowboys that couldn't handle extreme heat down south just wanted some natural air conditioning!

- Many of them donβt like being reminded that thereβs a place in America bigger than theirs lol --Goatspeed. All holidays matterπCircularRasoningπPrototype lab 19:36, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- What's funny is that on a lot of world maps, Alaska actually looks pretty small and not even quite the size of Texas, even though the ACTUAL landmass of Alaska could fit over the entire continental United States (from north to south, at least) and it would easily fit 3 or 4 Texases inside of itself. Perhaps all those world maps were designed by envious Texans! :o

- I also hear that without Alaska, Brazil would be bigger than America. And if we split it in two, Texas would be the third largest state --Goatspeed. All holidays matterπCircularRasoningπPrototype lab 00:07, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- They say everything's bigger in Texas, but you don't get much bigger than Alaska π (as long as you're talking landmass and not population). Postuhenin (talk) 00:47, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Greenland is definitely pretty big, but most maps actually exaggerate the size and make it look like it's at least half the size of the contiguous United States lol. Postuhenin (talk) 01:04, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Protection[edit]
I mean, what you're doing is harmless so I won't complain too much, but you do not need to protect every single archive you come across; typically we only protect those that are targets of vandalism/ban evaders. Plutocow (talk) 22:56, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- My bad ^^ I'm just used to protecting specially archived articles from my previous experiences as a wiki sysop. Particularly the "2eggs and GC" archive since that one seems to have a bit of historic importance to the wiki. Postuhenin (talk) 23:25, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- In my experience doing such is pointless, trolls here are rarely smart enough to mess with archives, even our perennial ones tend to follow strict patterns of behavior --Goatspeed. All holidays matterπCircularRasoningπPrototype lab 21:30, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
I ain't your dad Post[edit]
So this isn't me telling you what you should and shouldn't do around here. I'll just say that your edit on the Freemason page has left me somewhat confused. If you look at our Category for Bronze level articles you'll see this little line:
Article must not be a stub or very short article, and should not be tagged with any of the "articles requiring attention" categories.
but you added a "sources needed" template and the bronze ranking... at the same time?
Wut? ... ... Peace. - Rairyu75 (Talk) 07:50, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was looking really hard to make sure nothing like that was there, but I guess I skimmed that one! Thank you for alerting me to it, and I'll be sure not to make the same mistake next time! Postuhenin (talk) 07:51, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
The deletion log[edit]
Hi there,
Hiding revisions just because of a boo-boo on your part is not an appropriate use of your sysop tools. That function is strictly reserved for hiding potentially libelous information, doxxing, and other severe infractions. Please exercise extreme caution when using these functions.

- Understood! Thank you for clarifying!

The banned template[edit]
You don't need to add it to every random drive-by vandal, it just gives them attention. Typically the template is used on longer-term editors banned by community consensus. Plutocow (talk) 04:34, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

WTF are you even doing?[edit]
The Saloon Bar archives are automatically done by a bot, there is no need to mess with them, delete them, or merge them. If an archive is "short", that's because more topics will be automatically added to it. Please leave the SB archives alone. Plutocow (talk) 04:53, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Didn't know that a bot did them! I assumed that it was manually determined when the page was full enough to archive!

To myself, for royally bungling up an attempted archive merge.[edit]
Whack! You've been whacked with a wet trout. Don't take this too seriously. Somebody just wants to let you know you did something silly. |

Don't mess with other people's userpages[edit]

There are only a handful of cases where this is acceptable, like with reverting vandalism and fixing a page so it doesn't show in any of the Maintenance categories. What you did was not that. Plutocow (talk) 07:18, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
