Scared about N.Korea[edit]

I feel like an idiot having to write this, but I am extremely scared about North Korea and what Trump is planning to do about. I am trying to cut back on reading news articles about what is happening in East Asia, but it is making me so scared. I don't want a nuclear war to occur between the United States and China. This is really stressing me out a lot. Is my paranoia about a nuclear war supported by the fact? S.H. DeLong (talk) 02:35, 14 April 2017 (UTC)

Trump is a moron, so justified I guess. If you are nervous ... uh ... hope your state has legal cannabis?—Hamburguesa con queso con un cara Spinning-Burger.gif (talkstalk) 03:51, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
North Korea is dangerous locally (it has the world's largest artillery force and doesn't mind chemical and biological weapons). But according to this article from early 2016, some form of internal collapse is possible: "instead of scouring the headlines looking for the latest news on the DPRK’s nuke test... read this report instead". Regarding the recent events, "China is not obliged to help defend North Korea from military attack if the reclusive state developed nuclear weapons". The unknown here is South Korea: we don't know yet what their future president will do (elections coming soonWikipedia). In my opinion, the people of North Korea are the ones who should worry the most: whatever happens, they get screwed. --Cmonk (talk) 06:18, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
You should NOT worry about N. Korea going to war with the US. Trump is not involved in foreign policy. It does not interest him, it's too complex, too many details, etc. He does the ceremonial stuff, trips and meetings. If someone tells him something about N. Korea he may tweet about it. But he leaves the details and day to day work to sane adults like Mattis and Tillerson. Leuders (talk) 13:21, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Hey buddy[edit]

I'm currently out of ADHD medication, so I'll keep things short and sweet: do you have Steam? If you don't want to write your Steam name here on a public talkpage (or if you don't have Steam), just e-mail me at reverendblackpercy@gmail.com and we'll get to talking off-site. All the best buddy, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 14:02, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Yes I do have steam and i sent my information to you through my email. S.H. DeLong (talk) 21:26, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
Also could you send me an email as well? S.H. DeLong (talk) 03:35, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Neat, thanks! I'm currently out of town (low RW presence generally for the past days), but I'll get back to you ASAP Th hug.gif Reverend Black Percy (talk) 10:53, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Percy could you get back to me on gmail or on steam please? S.H. DeLong (talk) 04:06, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
Please could you get back to me ASAP? S.H. DeLong (talk) 04:55, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi, friend! Yes, I will. I'd ask for your forgiveness for seemingly taking forever, but as they've taught me to do instead at ADHD class — yes, my ADHD is severe enough that I've taken classes for it as an adult — I'll rather say the following: thank you for waiting. All the best buddy, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 09:34, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
Here's hoping today is the day. I have a hard time not cursing my ADHD right now... Just because I actually care not to leave you hanging, though (and the worst part is — I don't like the apparent mixed messages that result any more than you do Facepalm) All the best buddy, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 15:26, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Top Three Byzantine Emperors[edit]

In your opinion, and they have to be post-476 C.E. (i.e.,no Constantine I). RoninMacbeth (talk) 22:18, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

I would say that Justinian I (reign: 527 C.E. - 565 C.E.) would be number 3 on my list of top three Byzantine Emperors. His architectural achievements (i.e. Hagia Sophia) and legal reforms (Corpis Juris Civilis) still endure to this day, nearly 1500 years after he was Emperor. Number 2 on my list would be John II Komnenos (reign: 1118 C.E. - 1143 C.E.). He was able to halt the decline of the Empire for another half a century. He is considered by many historians to have been the "Byzantine Marcus Aurelius". Number 1 on my list would have to be Basil II the "Bulgar-Slayer" (reign: 976 C.E. - 1025 C.E.). His military conquest of Bulgaria and suppression of the Anatolian military aristocracy was able to bring a second golden age to the Byzantine Empire which would continue under several of his successors. S.H. DeLong (talk) 05:33, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
Pretty much the same here, though I'd put Justinian at 1, Basil at 2, and John Komnenos at 3. RoninMacbeth (talk) 23:54, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
I originally wanted to put Justinian as 1 on my list, but the disastrous Italian Wars made me put him down to number 3. --S.H. DeLong (talk) 06:01, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
well, this is the worst cracked listicle i have seen in a long time. AMassiveGay (talk) 09:42, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
I don't get it. What is that supposed to mean? --S.H. DeLong (talk) 20:57, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
Cracked.com often does "Top X (Things) That (Are Something)" as an article. AMassiveGay is comparing this discussion to Cracked lists because it is about the top 3 Byzantine Emperors. RoninMacbeth (talk) 17:10, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Question regarding the Eastern Roman Empire[edit]

At what point do you think the damage done to the Byzantine Empire was too much for it to recover from? The Fourth Crusade? Manzikert? Even earlier? RoninMacbeth (talk) 14:59, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

This is a very difficult question for me to answer because most of my expertise on the Eastern Roman Empire is from the Early and Middle Eras. If I were to give an answer on this question on when the damage was too much for the Eastern Roman Empire to recover, it would be the reign of the Palaiologan emperor Andronikos II. During the reign of Emperor Andronikos II, the Byzantines lost huge amounts of territory including a large amount of territory in Asia Minor. Because of economic problems Andronikos had to disband the Byzantine fleet and became reliant on the merchant republics and their ships. I would discount it being Manzikert because 10 years later in 1081 you would have the start of the Komnenian Restoration in which the Komnenian emperors Alexios I, John II, and Manuel I were able to halt the decline of the Byzantine Empire for at least another century.S.H. DeLong (talk) 04:43, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
What is it with being born in the purple that causes an emperor's reign to be unfortunate? RoninMacbeth (talk) 18:10, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Wait, never mind, I confused the Dynasty with the title. Sorry. I'm better with Latin than Greek. RoninMacbeth (talk) 18:18, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
