Totals[edit]
I emailed the ballots to Cosmikdebris Shabidoo via the wiki - did you get them?
I would have emailed EK but have no contact for them! - David Gerard (talk) 22:03, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, I have them. Thanks. Cosmikdebris (talk) 22:13, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
Results[edit]
@EK @Shabidoo I've run the ballot through OpenSTV and have tentative results. There were 35 votes cast. There were two empty votes cast (i.e., for no candidates) so I eliminated them from the ballot file. As a QA check I remembered to save my vote order, and I found it matched exactly in the ballot file, so I'm confident that my results are correct. I ran OpenSTV with 8 candidates (including the 2 alternates) and so the first 6 elected become mods and the remaining 2 become alternates. I'm waiting for you to duplicate my results. --Cosmikdebris (talk) 01:34, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi guys. I cant get openstv to work. I use linux (lubuntu) and I get errors when opening the py file. Could you run by me again how it works? You can come to my talk page if you like. ShabiDOO 20:08, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Shabidoo I had the same problem on my Mac. The python sources do not have the executable attribute; fixed it with
chmod *.py +x
- Hope this helps. Cosmikdebris (talk) 21:26, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
The voters themselves need to be checked too but I have not got the election file yet EK (talk) 15:12, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
- @EK Email me, radio at zappahead dot net, and I'll send you the raw input file.
Also, how do we check the voters name given the numeric identifier in the input?Scratch that, I figured it out. --Cosmikdebris (talk) 15:40, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
Voter ineligibility issue[edit]
I got a list of user names mapped to IDs using the API. After cross referencing, there is one ineligible voter disqualified because they have made only 68 edits and the threshold for eligibility is 75 per RationalWiki:Moderator_elections/Election_booth. There is one voter who is neither a sysop nor autopatrolled, but they cast a blank ballot so it doesn't matter. Removing the ineligible voter changes the results for the second alternate moderator. --Cosmikdebris (talk) 17:09, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
- ok ye it appears she only has 68 edits on contribs but she voted in previous elections and had made 82 total edits before some were recently deleted (12 edits) and suppressed (2 edits) for privacy reasons. EK (talk) 13:04, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll concede that she is eligible. Thanks for doing the detective work. Your ballot matches mine, so I'm assuming our results will be identical. I would like to announce the results shortly. Cosmikdebris (talk) 15:53, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Congratulations[edit]
Congratulations to the elected moderators. I have removed my mod rights and I'm now taking my last ride home on Air Force One from Andrews.

- Thanks for your service @DuceMoosolini, may your retirement be filled with many rounds of golf. Thanks also to the Returning Officers, going through those ballot files can't have been fun or easy. --RWRW (talk) 17:55, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'd like to thank the small number who gave lukewarm support to my small and lukewarm campaign. At least I wasn't plumb last. Avida Dollarsher again 18:02, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for your service, DuceMoosolini! Congratulations to my fellow moderators. Thank you to all who participated in the election, as candidates, voters or vote-counters. Bongolian (talk) 18:11, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks chef. And thanks to everyone.Ariel31459 (talk) 19:13, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
User rights changes[edit]
I did the work of updating user rights, god help us all if Ace has his way with blocking policy and being a zealous prick about out-dated and nonbinding community standards. — Oxyaena Harass 17:00, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- u might want to get the mob to change the site blocking policy before relying on it to back your position lol EK (talk) 18:39, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Firstly I remember clearing telling you that mods don’t have any special rights when it comes to blocking after your daft mod pitch wherein you said you’d use your mod powers to block people. Mods only mod when asked to. I can’t use mod rights to unilaterally change blocking policy. Secondly - give it a fucking rest. You’ve been following me around for months now. Go outside and do something else. AceMcWicked 18:52, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Oh and lastly - the comm standards might be old but they are the only ones we have so if you think they are outdated pitch to the mob to get them changed. Moaning about it will get you nowhere. AceMcWicked 18:55, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, if anyone has a problem with the standards they only need to propose new ones and get them put to the vote.Bob"Life is short and (insert adjective)" 19:25, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Ace McWicked I'll try to be less heavy handed with blocks, but don't think I'll follow those old rules to the letter. — Oxyaena Harass 19:28, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- You don’t decide which polices you do and do not follow. AceModerator 21:25, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- Those very same policies say they're only guidelines, you fool. — Oxyaena Harass 22:13, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

- For the life of my i cannot get it to work. I tried running it through optavote online and entered the ballots manually...but then it asked for 30 dollars to run the count. Unfortunately i wont have access to my linux computer this weekend so i wont be able to run it. Really sorry I cannot be help. You can help me get the program working sometime before the next vote so I can help you with the count. ShabiDOO 21:28, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- ok no worries EK (talk) 12:48, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

- @Ace McWicked It's generally good to have an OG around- especially since there aren't a whole lot of them left. Congrats to you, @RWRW, @Spud, and @Bongolian on winning another term. --Goatspeed. All holidays matter🎄CircularRasoning🎄See what I'm planning 02:23, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks to all who voted for me! I would also like to thank all who endorsed me during my campaign: KC, Duce, Flandres, and Twodots. I would also like to congratulate the others who won. And of course, I would like to thank Ariel, Hastur, Rockford, and Atheologica for not screaming "RIGGED1111SHIFT!!!oneone11SHIFT!!1elventy11oneSHIFT!!111one!!!11!!" and sowing doubt about the integrity of this election. --Goatspeed.
