Welcome[edit]
I realize that you were a BoN before but nonetheless.Owlman (talk) (mail) 03:30, 18 May 2016 (UTC) 03:30, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome. Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 16:45, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
Autopatrolled[edit]
I'm pretty sure you're 95.something, so: Based on your edits and time on the wiki, you've been given RationalWiki:Autopatrolled status. This makes it easier for you to edit and lets you bypass the CAPTCHA. If you have questions, feel free to ask me or another editor.--JorisEnter (talk) 06:27, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 16:37, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
Cooping[edit]
Posting something on the Chicken Coop. It's essentially RW's "mob justice" station, and it's drama-fuelled and messy as hell. Less coops, more smiles. Ugh. FuzzyCatPotato of the Freeform Pizzas (talk/stalk) 18:08, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- How did it get this name? Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 18:16, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's probably derived from "Headless Chicken Mode" (HCM), in which everybody behaves like... well, a headless chicken. The Coop is intended to contain the headless chickens and stop them from causing drama all around the site - although it seems we may need to add a couple more fences to the Coop, given the dramafest last month.--JorisEnter (talk) 18:49, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- If I may ask, why is this even here? Has anything happened that might cause another (*sighs*) Coop case?--JorisEnter (talk) 18:50, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- What happened last month? Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 22:38, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Sysop[edit]
Based on your edits and time on the wiki, you've been given wizard RationalWiki:Sysop status. Let the ᴘᴏᴡᴇʀ course through your veins. Once the high wears off, see RationalWiki:Sysop guide for more information. If you have questions, feel free to ask me or another editor.--JorisEnter (talk) 17:46, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. How come I get this honor? I did not even put my name into some nominating contest... Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 19:39, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sysop status can be granted if some sysop thinks another user is capable enough to be given 1337 p0w3rz.--JorisEnter (talk) 15:50, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

- The boxes are pre-checked for vandals and other folks that should normally be blocked. And yes, I hope that this shitfest stops as well.--JorisEnter (talk) 16:08, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Gotta love it[edit]
How Owlman promises to lay off editing both article, only to go and revert me one last time. If he can have one last edit, then so can I. Typhoon (talk) 15:48, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Ayn Rand[edit]
You do, hopefully, realize that "I don't like her" isn't enough to accuse Ayn Rand of racism, that some sort of proof is required? 132.3.61.82 (talk) 22:00, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

- Look. I reverted you because you edited a page that had been that way for quite some time. Than you reverted me again and I locked the page. Instead of discussing it on the talk page you went on to revert again. So I locked the page. If you can get consensus that she was not a racist we can change the article to your version. But given what literally five seconds of google give me, your chances are slim Laurogeita Hamabost (talk) 22:09, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

And it is plainly obvious that you are not arguing the issue in good faith but instead you are trying this about you and me. So please kindly fuck off my talk page and go over to the Ayn Rand talk page and address the issues raised there if you don't want your ass to be blocked. Cheerio. Really, that was accidentally apt, as well as amusing[edit]
"I don't think those that think you should not have a mop like your style, tone or way of handling this situation." Oh, I'm sure it does come down to such non-infractions as "tone" and "style." It nearly always does here. By the same token, one can behave like an utter boor, and cause a flight of decent people who won't endure it, and still be treated like a fragile snowflake if one's name is Ryulong. David Gerard will see to it.
No, my dear, I will either get my mop back because at least one person here has the balls to do it given that I did nothing wrong, or I won't. If this site is so insane that preventing a nut like Typhoon from constantly blocking both me and another editor is grounds for discipline of me, well, then I'm better off listening to my Adult Voice and getting the fuck back out of Dodge.---Mona- (talk) 14:46, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Prostitution[edit]
Have the decency to explain your reverts on the talkpage as i have. Please do not revert until you do AMassiveGay (talk) 20:26, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, we're now 2 to 1. Prostitutes are human beings and their rights must be championed. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 21:01, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Whatever approach to prostitution you take, the first priority should be helping the people who work in prostitution, especially those who do so against their will. But doing something with or against ones will is a difficult concept in the capitalism of 2016. another Jewish conspiracy by (((Laurogeita Hamabost))) (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- there is championing rights and then there is fantasy and delusion masked championing rights. Where have my edits argued against the rights of sex workers? Claiming penetration by a stranger for money is the same as flipping burgers upholds no ones rights but the punters. AMassiveGay (talk) 21:20, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

What i am opposed to is any suggestion that prostitution isnt an appalling industry that damages all those involved, whether they are sex worker or punter. Please rep!y on the prostitution talk page. I apologise if i am abrasive, but this is a hit button issue for me. AMassiveGay (talk) 22:12, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- You still have not convinced me that for some magical reason sex work has to do that. Without fail and without exception. I know the experiment to prove either way is very close to impossible. But if you could provide a sex work in a world where there is no stigma, no danger no violence etc. associated with that work and you still have - excuse my French - fucked up people as the result, your point is proven right. If not, mine is. I think that the circumstances are way, way more important than the fact that genitals are (for the most part) involved in some form. another Jewish conspiracy by (((Laurogeita Hamabost))) (talk) 22:26, 8 July 2016
- Please see prostitution talk page. Please read the walmart section. I do not want keep repeatinv myself. Sex is fundementally emotionally effecting. It does things for your self esteem. Your self confidence. Your self worth. You might get away with the odd one night stand and it not have any lasting effects, but if you so long term, it changes the way view yourself. How you view others. The effects are different if you doing the fucking or if you are getting fucked. Prostitution is this magnyfied. I am sure some can handle strain short term. I am sure some even enjoy it short term. But you cannot do it for any length of time and it not effect you. It is not flipping burgers. I posted a link that suggests 2 thirds of sex workers have pstd even when violence is not a factor. I i know many sex workers. They are not happy people. I know many people who use s3x workers. They are not pleasant people. No one gains long termAMassiveGay (talk) 22:47, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

I blocked him because he's the sockpuppet of vandal-binned user AvengeroftheBoN as well as Pizzameister. This user was involved with lots of drama about 8 months ago, and this user harassed another user for several weeks on a daily basis. PBfreespace (talk) 21:44, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Quick overview: Mona, AvengeroftheBoN, and Arisboch enter scene. All want to edit Israel/Palestine articles, along with others. Mona was generally anti-Israel, while AvengeroftheBoN and Arisboch were pro-Israel. Users edit warred over multiple articles for several months. Arisboch participated in an online community which released personal information of Mona and other users here, resulting in him being banned forever. He argues it was unjustified due to an ex post facto rule change, and has returned as Kugelschreiber. AvengeroftheBoN was vandal-binned due to disruptive editing, but this user returned as Pizzameister. This user was then convicted by RW of being a sockpuppet, and he went dark afterwards. He has been editing under proxy IP addresses ever since. PBfreespace (talk) 21:56, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- What happened to Mona? Also, I am confused as to whether that Arisboch person released any personal information himself. another Jewish conspiracy by (((Laurogeita Hamabost))) (talk) 21:58, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
Mona LANCBd several times, and is not currently active. Arisboch did not personally dox anyone, but Mona asked the administrators if he could be banned permanently, and they unanimously agreed. That should tell you something about him. There's pretty much a consensus that Kugelschreiber is Arisboch, and that he is allowed to stay unless he returns to being a massive dick. Which he's not doing for the time being, although I see the old him coming out here and there. PBfreespace (talk) 22:04, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Identifying links in the WIGOs[edit]
You identified The Intercept in WIGOE and Jacobin mag in WIGO:Blog. There aren't a lot of norms but it is odd so I was wondering why you did that? - I guess so but normally people have no problem with not knowing the source; I think it is somewhat unnecessary as well. Also, every source can be not fully accurate or neutral (and I hope they aren't neutral) but some sources are very unreliable and, therefore, it would be in the best interest to mark that link.--Owlman (talk) (mail) 04:08, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Green Party[edit]
What's wrong with you, Laurogeita Hamabost? The article clearly cites the wrong author, I replace the name with the correct author, which is easily verified by clicking the link, and you REVERT that?
And describing Greens as "bleeding heart liberals" makes this site look superficial and stupid. Is this your goal?
Do not revert a correction on naming an author; that makes zero sense. And do not revert back to the excessive injection of political editorializing without explaining yourself.
Lee (talk) 01:52, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- Replacing Mehta for the link to the correct author was nice of you. Very well done. However, "bleeding heart liberals" is some funny snark — and I say that as a liberal. We're snarky here, bud. So don't be so high-strung towards Laurogeita, if you please. Thanks for your palpable concern. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:01, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

No one appreciates well-placed snark that advances our goals more than me; IMO this is not that, but this seems an uncool way to handle the disagreement. Some suggestions if more contributors are wanted: 1) people should be asked to explain when they roll another's work back, 2) third parties acting as spokespersons for someone who can't be bothered to explain their rollback encourages this bad practice, 3) persons should be asked to change only the points they have a problem with, not all the other's work including needed corrections. This kind of game is exhausting and discourages contributions.Lee (talk) 01:07, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Trump for president- the best choice?[edit]
Trump has the power to make America into the cesspit that I've been waiting for years to happen. Hopefully, he does, so the news will finally be fun. Trump's laws will never get past congress, causing massive unrest in his voters and anger with "the system" that they thought voting Trump would get rid of. When this happens.... the far right go to work. I don't live in America, but you need Trump if you want some form of change in America. I don't support him, but he's cute, in a pug sort of way.The Unwritten (talk) 23:02, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
Is it worth it[edit]
Just wondering why you persist? It's clear that you're not going to get a fair shake here, so why invest so much time and energy in something so pointless as defending yourself? The Present King of France (talk) 04:13, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
- Well I don't know. My repeated attempts to get people to listen that you and I are in fact different people went no where. But look, when Danton was betrayed by Robespierre, he still gave them quite a show at his trial. He knew he was going to the guillotine. But he would not go gently into that big night. And while you may ask what it matters how a man falls down, if the fall is all that's left, it matters a lot. On a totally unrelated note, if you have the technological possibility to create a new account, I advise that you do, because other than adding sources to WIGO entries you have done nothing that anybody would recognize as a "pattern of behavior", so you are likely to be unmolested with a new account. Me on the other hand, well... Let's just say there is a certain paranoia me or "my ilk" are trying to subvert the wiki. I am not the Ombud's man 16:24, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
- I think you missed the point of my question. This is not a case of Danton and Robespierre, this is a case of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd: there is no "fall," because there was nothing noble here to defend. The only thing to be lost is whatever effort you put into your entries, which will disappear as soon as it doesn't fit someone's agenda.
- As for creating a new account, that's something I won't do. First, I'm one of those stodgy old academic types who doesn't know how to do that. Second, and ultimately much more important, there's no virtue in my doing so. I learned about the site because one of my students told me it was funny, and I thought many parts were. I joined in order to try something new (and I am grateful for learning how to use a wiki- I may take those skills to one that matters now), and to try to fix some egregious errors. But I naively stuck my nose where it didn't belong, and quickly learned plenty about the site's fatal flaws. PBF's errors I can understand— I have aquarium decorations that are deeper than he. But if the best moderators this community can elect are able to conclude that you and I are the same person on such scant evidence, then there is no, was never any hope for its success. The best it will ever do is "mildly amusing," and it appears to be declining even from that. The Present King of France (talk) 18:53, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
- I certainly understand the sentiment and we are clearly of two different generations, with the idealism of youth still present in me while it is (mostly?) gone in you. At any rate, if you intend to create a new account at some time, this can be done if you have a "moving" IP; some internet providers assign you the same IP all the time, while others have one that moves and jumps around a bit. Just look at "whatsmyIP" or a similar service a couple of times in a row. If you intend to step away from this wiki - which I deem flawed in some ways but not beyond saving - you are of course free to do so. At any rate, you would have to not use this account long enough for your IP to change (if it does) and then create a new one. While there is no checkuser (i.e. they cannot find out your IP unless you tell them), they do block or bin the IP of the account (usually by just checking the box that does that), but they cannot rangeblock your IP (usually the aforementioned IP moves happen within a "range" of IPs). At any rate, I hope you can become a valuable user at some wiki that values you. Wikivoyage is one of the better ones and remarkably drama-free.
- I think you missed the point of my question. This is not a case of Danton and Robespierre, this is a case of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd: there is no "fall," because there was nothing noble here to defend. A long time ago, right at the start of RationalWiki, one of the first users was one User:AKjeldsen, a citizen of Denmark and all-round nice person. Somehow a whole slew of silly jokes and memes grew around this. His blog about Conservapedia was an early gathering place for critics of that site, most of whom (including me) ended up here. - (EC) I look back too and marvel at the difference between then and now. We were like a bunch of kids having a laugh at all the idiots. The only thing we had in common was getting thrown out of Conservapedia. You could do anything and say anything. - Well there are quite a few large companies that got started as just a few friends thinking they could take on the world. And amazingly, some of them did. I sometimes wonder how some yokels from the nowhere of Wacken, Germany managed to create the biggest heavy metal festival the world has ever seen, for instance. - You're right. Despite the civilized calm of this particularly dull coop case, it's started to attract bad mojo. (What is that, some maddening feature of the coop itself!?). Anyways, not worth it. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 15:41, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- For the record, I voted "No" to both proposals. My personal recommendation — for those that want it — is that we all just try our best to be nice and work together, et cetera. Inb4 this is archived and we can all get back to business. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 15:43, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- *Sigh* A thing out of curiosity though, she says that anything touching on Israel Palestine is a godawful mess. Do you agree? And do you have any interest in trying to fix it? Maybe we could, maybe we can't... *shrug* I am not the Ombud's man 15:48, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- I made the mistake of mentioning her once in unflattering terms (see above). Apparently, this was enough to disturb her long-LANCB'd spirit, stirring it from its resting place (with a vengeance). Now, I've certainly always been nice to her, and as she herself stated clearly, she considered me a "friendly party" (up until I committed the massive faux pas of dropping her name next to Ryulong's in the recent coop), saying just now in the above coop paste (in reference to me):
- "...seeing myself compared to Ryolong by a party I'd thought to have been friendly..."
- What this actually means is the following: no amount of being overtly friendly towards this person seems to be able to build up any "good faith"-buffer in her mind. Conversely, however, nothing could make up for the appaling transgression of mentioning her name once — admittedly negatively, as an example of an editor who has in fact been prone to being 2fast2furious behind the keyboard — even in passing. She also told me to go to hell, which is — one must concede — a truly mature level of expressed emotion to indulge over the internet at her age. That's the lesson. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 16:06, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- And as for Israel/Palestine — like always, I'm not touching that topic with a ten feet Reverend pole. Somebody has to try and remain a netural party — there will always be a need for moderating the behaviour of editors involved with that topic, I'm afraid... Reverend Black Percy (talk) 16:06, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

There are apparently technical problems with the (un)blocking[edit]
I am not going to argue why I was blocked by Weaseloid, for that, the Chicken Coop is probably more appropriate. However, even though DiamondDisc1 has since unblocked me, I cannot open a case in the coop as it says I have been blocked. Can anybody please explain me what is happening here? Also, I am very much against being blocked, but that's besides the point right now. I am not the Ombud's man 02:43, 2 October 2016 (UTC)

Can I please be unblocked? Apparently the reason given has to do with this essay I am not the Ombud's man 21:23, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Would the prosecution please make a case - any case - towards rehabilitation?[edit]
So now that I am blocked and binned (aka limited to my own talk page every half hour) there remains little reason to keep using this account and either RW will lose my edits or some new account will be accused of being me. Probably both. At any rate, I am willing to give this another shot if someone tells me what exactly the behavior you want me to cease is. I have already given you a "stay away from Israel" pledge - such as it is - so I cannot give you that. But please, if your grievances are anything besides "I just don't like that person" I will give them due consideration. Otherwise, have fun chasing witches and ghosts in this month of Halloween. Give old Percy a break[edit]
I took it upon myself to do this. It might not last. I'm not going to fight a moderator over it, were he to argue (for whatever reason) that you stay in the bin for now, despite the "no" vote leading and despite the many days elapsed now. I won't argue with that.
I'm not here to discuss the drama. I'm talking directly to you. I think you like me. Please just remain seated and keep your limbs inside the ride for the coming time? It'd mean a lot to me. All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 19:32, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
