I regret to inform you that having spent over two weeks here, you cannot escape the numbing inevitability of life demotion to sysop. Here's the guide, feel free to ask about anything. Cheers. Blue (pester) 03:36, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Glad you like my boxen. Blue, I am surprised by that -- I'd think this is an INTP haven. Although I also think MBTI is kinda bullshit. — Unsigned, by: Nebuchadnezzar / talk / contribs

Jewish atheist?[edit]
How is this possible, when being Jewish denotes that one has a religion? ConfickerInternational womon of mystery 16:30, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- It's not necessarily a religious identity. Many secular Jews like me view it as an ethnic and/or cultural identity. Some secular Jews who view themselves as agnostic atheists might have a naturalistic view of god when they consider whether they'd accept one. I hazard to guess that lots of Reconstructionist, Conservative, and Reform Jews are atheists. Have a look at wp:Mordechai Kaplan and wp:Jewish atheism.
- Yep, we are in pretty good company too: Jewish atheists. As a Jewish atheist, I'm not just part of a mass conspiracy to undermine the Christian ValuesTM of the nation's children, I'm also stealing your money through the use fractional-reserve banking and brainwashing you through the use of the librul-Jewish media. Nothing in particular, really. My semester has barely started, I'm kinda sick, and there's like 3 feet of snow outside and the city hasn't plowed a lot of it, so I have a shitload of time on my hands. It'll probably slow down exponentially by next week or so. :D Also, a lot of my contributions have been on libertarianism and economics, which were kind of content-dry when I signed up.Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 00:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

As our resident economic go-to person, do you think you could do an article about investing in gold? - Shady gold stuff is generally done through high yield investment programs and advance fee fraud. Besides that, it's usually stuff like Goldline or just outright fake gold. Why psychology? Тytalk 03:02, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't choose it...it chose me. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 03:05, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Interesting response, people often tell me I should be psychoanalyzed. Do you wish to teach, go into the professional world, or something else? Тytalk 03:08, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Destined for further academic slave labor, likely. I also don't touch abnormal psych -- those of us in cognitive psych tend to see it as the quackiest branch of the field. Psychoanalysis makes me cringe -- Freud may have been important in terms of popularizing talk therapy, but I think there's a good argument to be made that he actually set research psychology as a whole back. Fortunately, it's mostly regarded as quackery these days. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 03:17, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Good. I was sent to a psychologist as a child, I didn't care for it. Тytalk 03:21, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- A lot of the research in the field is much closer to biology andcomputer science than Dr. Katz.Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 03:27, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Dude, I know more about CS and Bio than I do about pop culture or modern television. So, my scheme to be psychoanalyzed has been foiled.Тytalk 03:30, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- That it has. One thing I find particularly interesting is where psychology and history overlap -- conspiracy theories are a gold mine for that. Unfortunately, the last time a major attempt was made to combine the two it was utter bullshit, so many are reluctant to tread in that territory. Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 03:50, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

YouTube is not my life[edit]
You suck. That was five minutes of my life, an entire twelfth part of an hour, that I will never...
Oh, wait; not only was that was a fun little romp, but it validated my YT avoidance and gave me a smug sense of knowing all about it. Grin factor about equal to that of Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along video blog. Thanks! Sprocket J Cogswell (talk) 12:42, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
