Actually, they're all part of the same anti-vandal script. I'm having a problem with the main one (in my monobook) it keeps running into your spam filter. I just put a note on the technical support page for assistance on what's triggering the spam filter. Tagging for deletion[edit]

When you are tagging an article for deletion, please don't just add a template, as you did here. You also need to point out your reasons for deletion on the article talk page. At the very least, this will increase the chance that people will notice the discussion and participate in it. Unlike Wikipedia, we don't have a centralized page that keeps track of deletion discussions.--ZooGuard (talk) 12:01, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

We really should have a centralized deletion page, though. (This will, of course, not happen, because the status quo's fee-fees might get hurt.) Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:15, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

It just seemed like somebody jumped in, created an account to troll and I was all "Well. This guy's a dingbat." and spanked him. Zero (talk) 15:40, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, well. Thats not how we do things around here. Yes, he was trolling. But who is to say that trolling cannot be valuable at times? Marcus Cicero SPQR100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 15:41, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
I do, actually. I'm okay with being snarky but I actually don't like trolling all that much. I'll respect the way things are done here, but I don't have to like it. Zero (talk) 15:46, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

You must take everything MarcusCicero says about RationalWiki with a bulkerful of salt. He's a perennial troll. Template:MC can give you an idea of his history on the site, though it's outdated. (And it's impossible to put the whole of Special:Contributions/MarcusCicero in a template anyway.) The fact that he was elected as a Moderator is one of the multiple signs that the site is undergoing a silent crisis.--AndYourFoesShallRejoice... (talk) 20:35, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Zero, you're new here so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I don't even know who the above people are, which should show you the extent with which the RWian propaganda machine has been a success. It reminds me of Mussolini's Italy. First of all, I was elected moderator on the abstentionist/abolitionist platform. I am firmly opposed to the existence of the institution and will continue to ignore it, and seek its abolition. I joined this website many years ago, with a simple message - tolerance. Tolerance towards people of differing points of view. At every turn I have been met with hatred, malice, and envy. However, I was beginning to change hearts and minds, so the powers that be laid claim to my account, fradulantly making posts on my behalf. They had hacked into my account and defamed me in an absolutely atrocious fashion. This is a truth they will do anything to prevent you learning of. But the truth must be known. They attempted to imprison me many times, at one time they sent me on a two year exile. My supporters helped me, and in the end I overcame this era in the wilderness. I'm back now, sword in hand, ready to speak truth to power. They have created an awesome propaganda machine, but truth and justice will always win against hate and tyranny. I hope and pray that you will join me in my crusade for liberty, and free Rationalwiki and restore it to its ancestral liberty. Freedom will reign here once again, as it did in the past! A warning about Pibot talkpage archiving templates[edit]

Hello. In case you haven't noticed, there were some issues with your use of Template:Talkpage/Pibot, such as this one. First, the template parameters need to be on separate lines, otherwise the bot doesn't seem to read them correctly. Second, when copying the template, you should not forget to replace "Talk:Example" with the appropriate talk page name. Thank you.--ZooGuard (talk) 09:40, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

I have. I've been keeping an eye on the mistakes and correcting them. Zero (talk) 05:45, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Something seems wrong[edit]

I am pretty sure that proposing an article for deletion shouldn't result in the deletion template spilling its guts on the proposed page. It looks like this is because for some reason you insist on using {{subst:afd}}, which at the moment is a redirect. I haven't looked at Wikipedia deletion templates for some time, but I think that in Wikipedia's case a two-twiered template system with subst-ing was used because of timestamps.--ZooGuard (talk) 18:51, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Mostly I ripped off the system associated with this. But yeah, subst probably isn't as grand as it was for the first, but I would like it to spill on 2 and 3 though. Zero (talk) 19:04, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
I have problems understanding your second sentence.--ZooGuard (talk) 19:15, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
In addition to long handed names, the templates are actually redirected from AFD, AFD2 and AFD3. The last two require subst since template would make things awfully messy.— Unsigned, by: Zero / talk / contribs
I fixed that bug, and another. Peter mqzp 08:22, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

A better way[edit]

Rather than manually adding pages to RationalWiki:Articles for deletion/Log you could make {{Afd2}} include a category, which could be used to automatically transclude the discussions into the main page with dpl. It would have the disadvantage, however, of removing the ability to watch the log page for new entries, but it would also make the system much simpler to use. Thoughts? Peter mqzp 09:50, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

That would kill one of the main reasons for having a centralized deletion page.
An even better way would be to use the features used in Template:Doc for creating a new template documentation page - it even supports pre-filling the new page with default content.--ZooGuard (talk) 09:58, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Re-adding inconclusive articles to AfD[edit]

So, I guess you can't do that? Brutal \m/ESSIAH 05:03, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

You have to justify the position. Just reading them with no addition to the discussion is worthless. Zero (talk) 05:06, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
So you mean that when I re-add it, I have to make it clear that I've re-added it, and for a reason? Brutal \m/ESSIAH 05:16, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
I don't think that's what Zero was referring to. If a vote was inconclusive or keep, then presumably that's not going to change unless there's a significant shift in the editors and/or their views here. If there's some new piece of information that warrants reopening the question, then that could justify it, as you may actually change some people's minds (or draw more interest to the question). In the absence of either of those things, what's the point? You'll reopen the discussion and it will end inconclusively again. - Grant (talk) 06:13, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Good point. I'll just have to deal with it, then. Thanks for clearing that up. Brutal \m/ESSIAH 06:58, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Sarkeesian article[edit]

Have you got any better way to add in the fact that her research is self-admittedly shallow and her conclusions were predetermined? Some of her videos are quite nice and call out genuine antiwoman prejudices in the games industry, but some of her really popular stuff, including the study she gets so much flak for, is just wrong. I mean, she called SR4 a sexist game ffs. >.> 174.98.201.96 (talk) 15:19, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

No, she called out the first three games as sexist. The fourth game she rather left alone. If you honestly have some well sourced and accurate information to bring to the table, please do. Zero (talk - contributions) 15:24, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Alright, more accurately she called the series as a whole sexist. The first game was indeed, the second slightly less so. The third was less sexist and more just out-and-out oversexual, the fourth likewise. That and I admit to a personal bias against her because she has a tendency to slut-shame in some of her videos. 174.98.201.96 (talk) 15:27, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Wait, slut shaming? Are you being serious? That hasn't come across in any video she has done. Zero (talk - contributions) 15:29, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Yes, entirely. Check out Women as Background Decoration. A good portion of the video is basically "these women are sexualized and this is bad because I said so." There's also one video (whose name I can't recall at the moment, apologies) where she calls out several female protagonists, including Chelle, for being "bad role models," for no reason I've ever been able to divine. 174.98.201.96 (talk) 15:31, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
That isn't slut shaming. It's shaming the writers/developers. Not even close to the same thing. And Chelle? Who is that? Zero (talk - contributions) 15:35, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
the protagonist of the Portal games, and despite being mute probably one of the strongest female role-models of the last console generation. And no, if she were addressing the writers and developers then it would be shaming them, which is unproductive in itself. What she does in her videos is address the topic of the NPCs directly. 174.98.201.96 (talk) 15:37, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Chel? She's completely without personality! She isn't a character so much as an avatar for the player. The same thing with Gordon Freeman. John-117 was originally supposed to be this way but it was scraped past the first game and with the books. And honestly, if you can't figure out that you cannot possibly shame a character (they're pixels, they have no emotions) then something is clearly not getting through. Zero (talk - contributions) 15:46, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

It's Chell, damnit! Two L's! And I can't recall any video where she criticised the Chell character for anything. That would be as ridiculous as criticising Gordon Freeman, as Zero pointed out. Please provide a timestamp of a video as evidence if you want to say that. Nullahnung (talk) 15:51, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
My mistake. It's not like her name is spelled out in the game anywhere. Zero (talk - contributions) 15:58, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
