welcome[edit]

Thanks for the hearty welcome. I read with great interest about my exploits on your CP page. Now, as you can imagine, I've taken a few liberties with a couple pages on that site - what'd I do to ya? --Huey gunna getcha 22:41, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

Oh, all you did was "welcome" me - soon after I registered, forcing me to figure out if you were a freak who belonged there, or some sort of clandestine human being. human 22:45, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

helicopter[edit]

umm...what? --Huey gunna getcha 23:34, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

In late summer, as evening falls, when the dragonflies are buzzing my lawn at twelve inches, all I can think of is those Bell Huey choppers in Viet Nam movies... huntin' skeeters... humanbe in 23:36, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

Political Slant?[edit]

Do we consider ourselves liberal? Would it be OK for the politics category to describe all articles in it delivered with a liberal and therefore rational perspective. Icewedge 23:43, 21 May 2007 (CDT)

I don't think we are at all limited by political ideology in that way - while some of us are unabashed liberals, I think we include some libertarians already, and welcome any politics as long as the person seems basically sane - you know, rational. I'm not exactly sure what your second question means. humanbe in 23:47, 21 May 2007 (CDT)
I know I'm an incredibly minor user of both CP and RW, but just to give the conversation some flavor - I'm right-of-center on a lot of issues, so I'm "conservative," but from CP's perspective I'm apparently a flaming liberal. Oh, and I'm not YEC. So yeah, I'm enjoying the idea of a rational wiki, but I don't know that liberal = rational. My 2 cents. Aziraphale 16:45, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

We don't need any bias of our own--the inherent Liberal Bias of reality should do all the work for us. And having an innate bias would make it harder to give liberal idiots the beatings they deserve as well. --Gulik 18:12, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

User boxes[edit]

Having trouble with those? I'll import the userbox top and bottom. --Helios 03:02, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Excellent, thanks! I have a stash of UXB templates GL saved before the wipe, I'll have to figure out an easy way to load them up. Although, I suppose it would make more sense to put some effort into an article or two. humanbe in 11:38, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
"Articles"? Nothing is more important that having access to an excessive number of userboxes. Upload away. --AKjeldsen 12:39, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
OK, I have over a hundred of the templates (without names!) stashed in my sandbox - does anyone know an efficient way to upload them? Editing each one one at a time is tedious! humanbe in 12:50, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Hey, what's with the US flag for the public school UBX? We have public schools here in Northern Canuckistan, too! (say, is there an explanation how to use them shiny userboxen somewhere? I might want to gank a few) --Kels 13:08, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

I have no freakin idea. I just copied the uxb over, and grabbed the image it referred to. Please fis it. How about finding an image of a mortarboard (you know, grad. cap thing), or a diploma, or a brain, and changing the template? humanbe in 13:13, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Be happy to, once I have a firmer idea of how the process works. Might even draw something myself (mmm...brains...). Is there any info on how to do that, and how to use the boxen on my own page somewhere? --Kels 13:17, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Copying always worked well for me. If you see something you like, click "edit" to see how it was done, and copy it to your page. Basically, you put userboxtop at the top of your uxb list, and userboxbottom at the end. If there's a uxb with a name that you want, put this in the list: user uxbname. You can also hard code them, several ways. If you follow the link to my old page on CP (where it says "I joined" on my user page), then click on "looserboxen" you'll see an explanation of some of how this works.
If you make or find an image you want to use, save it to your hard drive, and click on "upload file" at the left to put it up here. To edit a UXB, use this url: http://www.rationalwiki.com/index.php?title=Template:User_uxbname&action=edit Hope this helped! humanbe in 13:29, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
It helped a lot, thanks. I've done the image uploading thing for my page over at the ComicGenesis wiki, so I managed to learn a couple of the more basic things in the process, now it's just a matter of getting the training wheels off. --Kels 13:37, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

No problem, yeah that was me. Just made a bunch of templates. MiddleMan

Me too. It's easiest to name them in a file, then the link goes straight to an edit box, and then cut/paste in the meat from my sandbox, or wherever. I've also been pruning the uxb templates in my sandbox, let the YEC's and reaganauts make their own if they ever come here! humanbe in 16:55, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Do we have a userbox directory page with categories already? MiddleMan

AFAIK, no, just a template space full of them [1]. Thinking of building something? humanbe in 13:41, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

I didn't make the blunt knife userbox, but yeah, I'm thinking about a userbox directory page. And I'll have to write an article on "blogs 4 brownback" sometime. MiddleMan

A little help[edit]

Do you have that mirror article somewhere?PalMD-Talk 14:50, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Dude, it's already posted ;) It was the first article on RW V. 2.0! See Essay:PalMD's Response for Motivations for the Theory of Evolution. humanbe in 15:01, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Comrade, could you consider doing a side-by-side of my Essay, Essay: Creationist Behavior on Conservapedia, with cp:Essay: Liberal Behavior on Conservapedia? If so, good stuff would happen.-AmesG 19:19, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Hi Comrade, haha, my first thought was to say, hey, just copy the table tags & text and stuff and you're there. But then, I thought of all the good writing and research and work I've seen, and all I do is whip up the troops to make userboxes, and since "I can", and you already did all the hard work, why not? Sure, I'll do it for ya buddy - I see the link to the CP foolishness is probably good, but where is your essay located (hint: don't name it "Essay: something", there is no "Essay" namespace. Leave out the colon.)? Is it on your user page? Saved somewhere? If so, put it here: User talk:Human/Essay Creationist Behavior on Conservapedia, let me know, and I'll get to work on it. humanbe in 19:48, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Howdy[edit]

Hey Huw. The cp:whatever links don't work anymore! Do you by any chance know how I fix that? GodlessLiberal 16:21, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

The RationalWiki drive was wiped so we lost the scripting. -Icewedge 16:24, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, how do we get it back/redo it? GodlessLiberal 16:25, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
I think we have to bring it to Trent or Linus' attention. They did it before, they can do it again. Or, can you, Ice? It will be an important function for ease of referring to files, right? humanbe in 16:26, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Ask Colin, the webmaster he has to do it I think. -Icewedge 16:28, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Its on my to do list, so I will get to it soon, promise! Tmtoulouse 16:30, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Thanks! GodlessLiberal 16:38, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Should be done now. Tmtoulouse 16:56, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
Excellent, I'll go test 'em at Pal's essay, and load it up if they work. humanbe in 16:59, 22 May 2007 (CDT)
One last detail - did the "CP:" used to vanish in text? It would look better that way - although, I guess either is fine. It does make it more obvious where the link goes if it's still there... humanbe in 17:01, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

The only way to make it vanish is to set it like whatever Tmtoulouse 17:12, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Ah, ok, cool. So it can be done easily. Man, that ashfly guy had like 20 links to the theory of evolution in his essay. I left one... humanbe in 17:19, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Beee-atch![edit]

I can't believe you touched my user page!! I mean, of all the unmitigated...oh, wait, you helped me! Well, cover me in lard and slide me through a glory hole! Thanks!--PalMD-Talk 21:43, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Well, isn't that special :) humanbe in 22:32, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

Liberal user category[edit]

I would have added it myself, if it had been an act of free will. HOWEVER, you have chosen to edit my user page. Why did you not have the simple courtesy to mention the category on my talk page? I consider this to be a grave breach of wikiquette. Staple 23:20, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

touché, mon ami - except, um that was your talk page ;) Anyway, nice to see you around again! humanbe in 23:32, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

thanks[edit]

Thanks for fixing the link on my user page. Changes like that never need apologies, as far as I'm concerned. --jtltalk 00:09, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

No problem. I only mentioned it because it can be weird when you see soeone else edit your user page. I only had to fix the link because I moved the article to its appropriate namespace (per admin request) and deleted the redirect, which is where your link would have gone. humanbe in 11:17, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Namespace[edit]

Thanks for the work, I fixed AmesG's essay, it had some how gotten "stuck" I had to go into the database directly to deal with it. Should be set now. Tmtoulouse 13:28, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Accident, my edits seem to overwrite, rather than create an edit conflict. Sorry. Tmtoulouse 16:21, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
Ah, ok, thanks. I'll know why, now, if it happens again. humanbe in 16:23, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Yes it is me.[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. But the blackmailers and threats haven't stopped. I asked Tmtlouse to delete my earlier effort here, and he did, tried it again, only to see its a ploy to build site activity. No hard feelings. Several items keep being removed from my page, yet no edit record. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Email or get me on AIM sometime. --TK /MyTalk 16:40, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks, and you're welcome. I just wanted to make sure someone wasn't puppeting with your user name to impugn you. Although, it doesn't matter a lot, since as far as I can manage, your "presence" here is just as someone I don't know yet. Tabula rasa, and let's see "who" you are over time. humanbe in 20:01, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
I think TK hates me. :( GodlessLiberal 22:40, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
Well, I wouldn't go that far. Read my little thing near the top of my user page - see, we got to cool off, relax, eat some sandwiches and popcorn, and deface the hell out of our own website. Over at constipatedia, they had to fend off a horde of icewedges. Let them relax a bit, hang out by the pool, drink some daiquiris, see how it goes. Then go read Dpbsmiths quotes on his user page at CP and apply it to how things go over the next few days here. Oh, and, yes, TK does hate you. So does your mom. You'll get over it, maybe, with years of reparative therapy. humanbe in 22:47, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
Meh, I try. Mom says she'll stop beating when I stop crying, so it's all my fault, really. GodlessLiberal 22:49, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Now, about this soup.... GodlessLiberal 22:54, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

 • Chuckles. Not hate..it was a joke. Ever see Seinfeld? ---TK

RobS works[edit]

If you get a chance can you see about moving RobS' works into essay? thanks again. Tmtoulouse 18:36, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Are they all essays? I can do, and I'll leave a brief note on his talk page. Also, is the "essay" template ready yet (the one that says this is the work and project of one person?) humanbe in 19:34, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Are you on WP?[edit]

And if so, do you know who I was? (If so, please don't disclose it...just trying to figure out if I have run into you before.) HGHeartOfGold talk 21:41, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Yes, I am, but I use my real name there. I stuck with my CP nom de plume here for continuity with my fellow travellers. Although, there are ways to just follow links and figure out who I might be, but it takes a slight effort. I doubt we have run into each other on WP, all I do is add and delete commas and typos there. Why, who are you there? Oh, wait you want that to be secret. humanbe in 21:46, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
I am nobody there, anymore. I think I joined CP at the wrong time, though. HGHeartOfGold talk 21:48, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Hello[edit]

You are not still mad are you? I got your email but I didnot know what you wanted me to do?Bohdan

What exactly is this?Bohdan
Well, first, read RationalWiki. That's what this is. Then hang around, follow some links, it's mostly user talk and site building discussion right now. Notice how we mess up each others pages. Have some fun. Meet some old friends. Have a drink. Feel your way around the space a bit, then, I guess, if you feel like it, comment on some articles, get a good 99/01 thing going (you must have 99% talk here before we let you edit ;)), write something if you feel like it. humanbe in 22:58, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

PS, where are your time stamps? Are you using four tildes?

oops thanks.Bohdan 23:00, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Aschlafly's essay[edit]

I'll def work on it - thanks dude, for all your work! Yeah, sorry... the new job is taking a bunch of time... sucks but is awesome!-AmesG 22:56, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

No problem, dude. Work on it in my sandbox, ok? All you really need to do (in your copious free time) is answer 6 more moronicities by Andy. Anytime you want, we can put it in the "real" article space, which I'll go blank a bit right now because it's a mess. I figured you want those unanswered points in the beginning though. Oh, congrats on the new job! humanbe in 23:00, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Could I ask you to do the same thing with the Reparative Therapy refutation article here? It'd rock...!-AmesG 07:59, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Sure, I'll give it a try. Should it be moved to the Essay space then?
Done humanbe in 20:06, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Traffic[edit]

I'm trying to drum up some traffic for us here. If you're interested, please feel free to help.--PalMD-Talk 10:37, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Hahaha, I think I got stuck wearing different hats than that. But dang, yes, let's get some new members who don't arrive hating us (simple mockery would be nice :)), getting some people who are used to a heavy-handed top-down administration up to speed to what is essentially Discordianism, this mobocracy, takes a lot of honey. And see above, people keep giving me "useful" homework. humanbe in 12:58, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Who do I contact regarding my PW?[edit]

I lost my password for HG (HeartOfGold). I changed it and forgot to save my password file. How do I reset it? I do have an email set up on my other account. Thanks. HG2 12:50, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

nevermind, got it. HGHeartOfGold talk 13:01, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Hi HG, I think your best bet would be to email Tmtoulouse, his address is on the main page. But you know that already ;) humanbe in 13:02, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Proposed (re new sysops)[edit]

If you like, pass it on. How bout no more sysops for now, and avoiding discussion on it if possible. Then, once someone has actually made contributions to this site, and the process is reopened, they can be considered. Just a thought.--PalMD-Talk 13:48, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

I totally agree (see others' comments at the top of the RFS page). But one or two people who shall remain nameless have either come charging in here requesting it (and arguing for it), or asked politely. I think we should worry about it when the current sysops start bitching about the workload. humanbe in 13:53, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Even though I think he's an ass, I agree with PalMD. DocSock 13:59, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Oh, and he's a heretic, too. DocSock 13:59, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Question[edit]

Human, your in authority and we have an understanding. Can I ask what exactly I am supposed to do on this wiki? I am a little confused.Bohdan 14:55, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Well, I don't know about "authority", I view sysopism as more of a responsibility? But I will try to answer your question with a bullet list:
 1. Have fun. Please. Some of us take that out by blocking each other for one second. OK, that's childish. We also call each other names and stuff. But if your idea of fun is something else, please exercise it.
 2. See #1
 3. Write articles and essays. I bet you have some ideas that actually fit in with the "creed" of this site (roughly, debunking irrationality), so feel free to write about them. Mainspace pieces are to be community edited; essays are essentially "yours" to work on, others are free to use the talk page to comment.
 4. Have fun. Eat pizza. Make silly userboxes. Make serious userboxes.
 5. Help people out with things they are working on, as on any wiki. Check recent changes, if a subject interests, go see if you can make it better.
 6. Have fun. As an old column in F&S used to be called, "Exit Laughing".
 7. Vandalize GodlessLiberal's talk page for me.
 8. Have fun. Our goals and purposes are serious; but if we weren't having fun, Jack would be a very dull boy indeed.

I hope this helps?

PS One way to "have fun" is to do whatever you feel constrained not to do on CP. Not that this site is the "anti-CP", but it's a way to think about this liberation. humanbe in 15:03, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Kevin Bacon Moment[edit]

I just noticed on your userbox that the xray on your smoker box is the same one PalMD used for his cancer article on cp. DocSock 18:08, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

BTW, he's a heretic.DocSock 18:08, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
I don't smoke bacon. He stole it. He pwned you, too. You two three four should get a life. Or a room. Or, you know, go patrol that back alley where your practice is. I stole it. From an on line encyclopedia almost no one can edit, with an indecipherable copyright policy. You stole me. I am Helena Bonham Carter. humanbe in 18:14, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Cripes, don't remind me of Kevin Bacon. I found out recently that I'm two degrees from Tom "Spaceman" Cruise, and the thought of that makes me itch all over. --Kels 18:27, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Cool. See if he can introduce you to Xenu. --Gulik

Blocking TK[edit]

I really don't think you should go around giving out insignificant blocks to people from Conservapedia, I know giving them what they deserve feels good but it will earn us a bad rep. 66.230.81.109 20:46, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

First, what do you mean (whoever you are?) "people from Conservapedia"? User:TK is from rationalwiki. Is he on CP, too? Second, do you think it should been more significant? Like two hours? I find that harsh. A one minute block is barely noticed, but happened, nonetheless. The block itself was not insignificant, it was for but one instance I bothered to mark of a petulant, "demanding" attitude that I, personally, find to be very uncollaborative. humanbe in 20:51, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Just curious, is that RW's first "actual" block? Aside from the Sysops blocking each other for shits 'n' giggles, that is. --Kels 20:56, 24 May 2007 (CDT)
Hmm, I don't know, it could be. GL blocks himself so he can go study, of course. He used to ask people to block him on CP for the same reason, as I recall. Checking logs... I dunno, it looks like it might be. humanbe in 21:03, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

our anonymous friend[edit]

i blocked him for 5 minutes. hopefully he'll log on. Airdish 02:59, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Makes sense. He/she probably just forgot and didn't preview. I wonder if it was just AmesG (considering the section title)? I left a message at the IP's talk, so if they forget to log in again, they'll get it. humanbe in 03:02, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
No, this is intentional: these ([1] [2]) are an open anonymizing proxy. --jtltalk 03:11, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Well, our/your comments there at least show it's not our style, hopefully not even one of us. Sounds like someone had something to get off their chest though, eh? Oh well, if they turn up again (which I suppose we will never know, that anon thing and all) we'll deal with it then.
Hmmm, I just had a "bright" idea. Maybe TK himself is doing it? nah..... humanbe in 03:15, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Thank you for edumacating me on the meaning of "pwnd" DocSock 07:49, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

BTW, that anon IP up there is from AK; either someone is really clever, or it's the Iceman.DocSock 07:51, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Sorry to butt in here...but someone posted on my page to look around. You do know that outsiders going to rationalwiki.com, they get a message saying logging in isn't required? Just saying, is all. --E 00:06, 30 May 2007 (CDT)
Yup, we know. It's wide open. Half the regular users forget to log in half the time, too. Are you that guy in OZ who I found on CP? Welcome! Judging by your sig, you're obviously wiki-savvy already. humanbe in 00:11, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks[edit]

My, all these friendly welcomes. It quite turns a fella's head. --Horace 22:35, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Pwnage[edit]

You are so still pwned. I got you twice, and you just haven't found it yet. Or, maybe you have found it, and you were just okay with it. Oh... and it seems I inadvertantly pwned Doc and Ames at the same time... They'll get over it. GodlessLiberal 00:48, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Haha, well, it wasn't true pwnage because I just left the goats box on my user file after Doc socked me with it. Or, we could call it a team effort on the two of you's part. Actually, editing userboxen is a funny trick because I'll bet most of us don't sit and drool over our own page that much. So we wouldn't notice until we saw it somewhere else, or if we were "watching" all our templates. Anyway, goatse to you! I like goats ;) humanbe in 11:46, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Hey[edit]

What happened? HeartGold tx 14:11, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

What happened to what? humanbe in 15:00, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
You used to be so nice to me, and now you're writing empty poetry? HeartGold tx 15:07, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Aw, I still like you Heart! If I didn't tweak you a bit, how else would you be sure? Heck, last night Godless moved my user page to "PWN". But I think he still likes me! I still have yet to comment on your Christian wiki idea, it's just taking me a while to digest it and think through my thoughts. And remember that part of why I like you is that you are very comfortable and open minded about being around people some of whom disagree very much with you about the nature of the universe. Anyway, I thought the section needed a prayer! PS, your user page formats badly - the two big images overlap the UXBs on my screen. Ah, I see, they are in a table side by side. You might try just putting them vertically? Or thumbing them to a slightly smaller width? (if they were the same width, they'd look very nice vertically) humanbe in 15:19, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Thanks. It's easy to be paranoid in my situation. HeartGold tx 15:21, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
How does my page look now? Still have formatting problems (I am 1600x1200). HeartGold tx 15:32, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Looks fine now, I'm running, I dunno, 1280 by something I think. Gotta keep in mind smaller screen/windows when doing layout. If I were you I'd scatter the images through the text or something? Not that it matters a lot! maybe if the warning sign was more "banner" like it could be at the top but your TOC would still be on the "first" screen? humanbe in 16:09, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Comment deletion?[edit]

Any particular reason you deleted my comment here, or was that just an accident? --Kels 23:28, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

I think it is a wiki bug that "we" don't understand yet. I think sometimes "sysops" get to walk all over other people's comments? I will go re-insert what you had to say now. humanbe in 23:32, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks[edit]

Typos, misspellings, all the same to me:) Thanks. HeartGold tx 23:19, 27 May 2007 (CDT)

Yeah, it still needs to be moved from:

to:

MiddleMan

Strangely enough, I couldn't "move" it, so I re-uploaded it spelled right, and copied over the source info. Then I deleted the "old" one. Nothing linked to it. humanbe in 18:58, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Thanks, and I fixed the one link there was. MiddleMan

CP User?[edit]

Any idea who "ExecutableMandlebrot" is? Həlios-speak to me! 21:01, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

I haven't been there for days (it's been no fun since I wuz banned, and RW2 is a much better challenge). But whoever they is, they sound regressive - and mispelled! I'd worry what sort of wandalism they might create, though. Help them out! humanbe in 21:07, 28 May 2007 (CDT)
I can't help them out, I'm deep under cover and I'd get banned. 209.112.184.21 02:34, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

Requesting Block[edit]

Its been a while since I've been blocked. How about 12 hours? :)Bohdan 16:37, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

All righty then... humanbe in 18:06, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

Caduceus?[edit]

Where'd the image go on your Universal Healthcare UBX? --Kels 16:25, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Oh geez, it must have died last night in whatever accident took out some of our other images. I don't have a copy, so I asked MiddleMan to re-upload it. Thanks for the heads up on that! humanbe in 19:12, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

TK doesn't like balls?[edit]

I suspect he may like them a little too much... --Kels 19:45, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Eh, it was just the first article I picked to add Smock's proud new UXB to, after I fixed it to name the page it is on. I'm sure we can find a better home for it. Of course, a template could be made to say... oh, never mind, the little twerp isn't worth the effort. How does he get teh internets in that shack in the desert, anyway? humanbe in 19:54, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Goodluck[edit]

Good luck Human. I am now leaving this project due to lack of time. I ask you now for this one last infinite block. Bohdan 19:59, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Bohdan, I can't do that. We don't do infinite blocks here... I can throw you a day if you like, but your shadow will always be cast upon us, even if you don't return en corpus humanbe in 20:06, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
If I want back in later, Can I contact?Bohdan 20:03, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Of course you can always email me through the link on the user page - but why do you need the indefinite block? All you have to do is not come here ;) humanbe in 20:06, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

I have always wanted an indefinite block. You wouldn't deny me this one last request, would you? That would be heartless! Bohdan 20:07, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
I can't believe this Human! I thought we had a block understanding! Now you go share this business with others! My trust has been violated! Forget it, I don't want you to block me, I'll ask someone else who actually cares. Bohdan 20:16, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
Haha, trouble is, Bohdan, that infinite blocks are pretty much against site policy. I'm sorry if you feel like I violated any privacy here (think, how private is this?). I will, however, feel perfectly comfortable giving you a "going away" present of a 24 hour block. humanbe in 20:27, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
Make it a month, but write in the summary "infinite" so everyone will -think- its infinite, when its really just a month.Bohdan 20:29, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
That sounds an awful lot like deceit man. Don't let the Man hear you saying things like that...it may get you labeled as lib'rul.Prof0705 20:30, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

a month.Bohdan 20:29, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Well, I just done ya for 24 hours, so you won't be able to reply (you can email me, or anyone, of course), but it is site policy not to do infinite blocks. Or even particularly long ones. And I am certainly not going to set a bad example by doing it. You put your "retired" template thing up, so no one will think you are still active. That's enough. humanbe in 20:32, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Sorry, I was just trying out pwning skillz.DocSock 21:04, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

Edit to your edit on Sysop Request page[edit]

Just a quick heads-up that I changed the URL in your post. It pointed to DocSock's edit and not to TK's. If you wanted to point at the entire discussion, feel free to revert without comment. I just edited it to give the (in my eyes) more intuitive result. --Sid 12:39, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Oh, great, thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I was just using the diff I looked at. Clumsy of me! I think I also mentioned it on TK's talk page where he complained about personal attacks on himself. Thanks again for fixing it, and for letting me know! humanbe in 12:47, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

How do I archive?[edit]

How do I put that whole chuck of garbage on my talk page in a box? It would be convenient, but I don't know how to code it.--PalMD-yada yada 21:40, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Hi Doc. first, when making a new subject on a talk page, either use the "+" tab at the top and enter a title, or edit the last subject (as you did) and put a new subject between "==" marks - like this ==how do I archive?==. OK, now you know how red links make it so you can make a new page? here how to make a red link on your talk page. Type: user talk:PalMD/archive1 which will make a red link to a sub file of your talk page. When you click on it (do you use tabbed browsing? A new tab works great for this), it will open it and you're editing it. Now also open you talk page to edit, and cut what should be archived and paste it in the new file. Watch out for "current" conversations, out of respect for subhumans. When you're done, there will be little or nothing left on your talk page, except the link the archive. The archive will contain all the stuff you moved. Save both. If you are concerned about edit conflicts, first, edit your talk page to say this at the top (and save it): "I am archiving this page right now, please do not leave comments until this line disappears" so people will know. I hope this was clear enough for you to batter your way through and get some lernded' dun. humanbe in 21:49, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
Don't worry, every time you tell me something, I'm taking notes. What I wanted to do in this case was, essentially:
This is the referenced text to be set apart

--PalMD-yada yada 21:53, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Ah, ok. Put a space before it. :) 21:58, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
When I do that, it goes off the page.--PalMD-yada yada 22:01, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
