Just stopping by and saying hi. Love what you've done with the place, it's quite shiny and official-looking. --Hojini hao 21:57, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey Hoji! I don't think I dusted or polished anything, I prefer what we call "patina" in the antiques trade... what 50s housewives called "grime". Hope you are well! ħumanUser talk:Human 02:21, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Some issues with Ray Comfort articles[edit]

While randomly cleaning up the Discovery Institute article yesterday, I found a problem with something Feredir added. I then turned my attention back to a list of his articles I'd been meaning to go through and noticed that he is responsible for ginormous walls of text, just absolutely massive amounts that work out to comprise the bulk of our largest articles. These include some of the articles that Google ranks highly that you and I have discussed. So I was looking at the 4th longest article on the wiki and found a few more problems. I'm exquisitely sensitive to the possibility of getting this kind of thing wrong and I'd be mortified about saying the wrong thing. I'd appreciate your input and counsel. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 02:28, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

I was just reading that comment, yes. I think we should just proactively userfy those "book reviews" and leave it at that. Will that hide them from Google? If not, deletion is the solution to pollution.
Your hope that he will address the question is not going to be satisfied, from what I've seen, he only replies to high compliments. And never copyedits his awful first drafts.
I say terminate with extreme prejudice. ħumanUser talk:Human 02:31, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
I remember trying to edit some of those reviews into shape a year or so ago. They're uniformly horrible and, since they're mostly a one-person vanity project, should go in user/essay space at best. Theory of Practice "I never set out to hit anybody. It's just that a lot of people got hit." -- Andy Roberts 02:35, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Actually, what he does is whine, and say "then I'll take my ball elsewhere", threatening to make some new anti-Comfort wiki type thing. I don't know of your discussions with The Nut, but in my own view, we need quality articles on these books, cause Comfort, along with DI, and AIG, and whoever is the new kid on the block, need to be refuted. I've never personally been convinced this particular person is really doing a RW worthy job. But I'm one of the No CP bangers, so what do I know.--Green mowse.pngGodot 02:36, 13 May 2012 (UTC) (EC)
I hope I'm not getting this wrong. If I'm not, I think just found 13+k of plagiarism in a single article. I'm not userifying that. I'm deleting it. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 02:37, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

A vote? A vote? Are you serious? Let's just discuss it. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:20, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
It has already been discussed, and most people seemed to oppose the changes you advocate. As you are still unsatisfied, there is no consensus and the next step is a vote. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 03:22, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I am having trouble finding this alleged "discussion". Why do you not provide links to back up your assertions? ħumanUser talk:Human 03:44, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
This section and those below it are devoted to the discussion in question--User:Brxbrx/sig 03:51, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
That is the discussion I meant. I did not think I needed to reference it, seeing as how we both participated in it. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 03:59, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Exactly because edit warring is getting nowhere. I would vote for your option Human. AceModerator 03:28, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Discussion is how we decide. "!Voting" is how the authoritarians decide - and see who their enemies are. Jesus fucking Christ on an Easter stick, has no one here heard of the "secret ballot"? "Voting" in public is not voting. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:44, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
It sometimes happens that a decision cannot be reached by consensus through discussion. That is why we have votes. Also, it is just as easy for "authoritarians" to gauge a person's "enemy" status from their arguments in a public discussion as from their ballot in a public vote. Mjollnir.svgListenerXTalkerX 04:03, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
So if we can't work it out, the authoritarians call a public !vote? You are an idiot. Discussion is discussion, and anyone can play "devil's advocate" in such. Public voting is so wrong it's not even funny. Those of you who don't get that are a few centuries, if not millennia, behind the times. PS, Ace was just joking. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:37, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Cheers Human[edit]

I read your comments in the coop. I'm touched, deeply touched. I'm five chapters into my George R.R. Martin inspired novel (A satire of RW). Unsurprisingly, you will play a major role in it. This most recent episode has thankfully helped get me over a nasty period of writer's block.

I haven't left. They may have banned me but I will always be hear. The voice of liberty can only be silenced by tyranny - never extinguished. So long as my ideas survive, so will I. You must carry the torch and fight the cockroaches to the last inch of your being. Never give up. Never surrender. Don't leave. Make them ban you. become a martyr. The more martyrs they create, the more powerful our movement will become. The aspies may have created this bureaucracy, but in time we will rise up and crush the rotten superstructure they have created.

I believe Foster the Cruel can amend his past evil ways. I don't believe him to be the root of all problems here. No, it is to the Sophist we must draw our ire, and challenge at all costs. He argues well and it is difficult to challenge him. But he has a fatal weakness. He is incredibly arrogant. We must prick him of his pomposity. We must crush him.

So much is tied up within you Human. The revolution MUST succeed! — Unsigned, by: / talk / contribs 18:07, 07 June 2012 (UTC)

Vermont Secession[edit]

Greetings! (If you've ever received a draft notice, I know I've gotten your attention.) I recently found RW and am trying to add what meager knowledge I'm afflicted with about all things secessionist. I have a blog about the Vermont secesher movement here.

I was pawing through the Alaskan Independence Party article today and found an edit of yours from more than 4 years ago that reads, "No one panics when Vermont considers secession every few weeks, after all." It's a bit of snark that I'd like to reword so that it doesn't feed the meme that there's actually a meaningful movement here. The number of people that could be called secessionist activists in Vermont number somewhere under 50. They refer to themselves as a "small community." What about a half a dozen of them have been somewhat successful in doing is promoting the illusion to the out of state media that Vermonters get up in the morning and ask themselves, "How can I advance the cause of secession today?"

I've started an article about the Second Vermont Republic that may give you a sense of where I'm headed but it's by no means near finished.

Thanks, T.

Like I said[edit]

There is good stuff in that article but it's not well written. My own writing is way too dense with sentences that are way too long. Some of what I and others wrote is still incomprehensible. It is cringe-inducingly humiliating to me that we've yet to reply to CMI directly responding to our responses. I wanted to take a run at tuning up the main article before jumping into replying to the responses since it comes up so high on google and still isn't. It should be a flagship article

Transphobia issues[edit]

You might want to brush up on some of the current issues in the trans community. The writers you deleted articles about are generally known within the community for being fiercely anti-trans, and Cathy Brennan's antics of recently have bordered on criminal harrassment in a couple of cases. It's probably safe to say that a few of the articles (particularly Germaine Greer's) really are deficient, but I don't think deleting the transphobia parts is the answer. EVDebs (talk) 08:31, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

I agree. But it seemed like someone was on an equally hateful mission. A one-issue mission. "Fiercely anti-trans" I do not think I found, which is why I deleted the garbage. I suppose the very usage of the phrase "tranny" is like calling them "queer"?
The series of edits and the template disgusted me. ħumanUser talk:Human 07:05, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi Human. : -) For some reason an IP editor has decided to vandalise your archive there. It's not a problem, just thought you might like to know. Cheers. --Bob"I think you'll find it's more complicated than that." 18:56, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry[edit]

About our argument a few days ago in the saloon bar. I realized later that I was thinking you had said things that you simply didn't. That was my own fear talking. I'm sorry. Wehpudicabok [話] [変] [留] 07:19, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

No blood, no foul. I respect (and accept - meaning the issue is closed) your apology, and the coolness it takes to do such a thing. Thanks. ħumanUser talk:Human 01:54, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Don't let me stop you, then. The article should probably say something about the Tea Party and the tax denialism. TeenageWasteland (talk) 05:05, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
It is what it is so far. A quick start. You aren't stopping anything. You can help make it and the site better too. Not sure you know this but I've been around here for a couple years. ħumanUser talk:Human 05:13, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Seeds of Death[edit]

I moved it back to article space. Because it is an article. You whined about the first person material. So I took it out. It took about 12 minutes. You could have done the same. It would have been far more useful. TeenageWasteland (talk) 14:52, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

It's still an AWFUL article. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:50, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
My moving it to essay space was far more useful than your moving it back. But what do I know since I am obviously a noob in need of your schooling. I will learn, I promise. ħumanUser talk:Human 03:51, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
You're not a n00b, just bitter and useless. At this point you're less helpful than McWicked, which is saying something. --Gnillort (talk) 06:43, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Banking crisis[edit]

Human, the Banking crisis is a travesty of crap. Makes RW look irrational and ignorant. It was written by british socialists with a hard on against maggie thatcher without a clue of US law, politics, or regulatory environment. Here's useful material, but the damn commies won't let me edit the page.

What the fuck's happened to RW? it's gotten like WP with the thought police. what a pity. nobsJesus loves you and I love you, but nobody else does. 21:31, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Copyvio claims[edit]

Like this one [3] -- is there a noticeboard or somesuch where they're dealt with? --MtDNotorious Sodomite 05:27, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

The talkpage of the photo in question is an ideal starting place, followed, perhaps, by a quick blurb about it in the Saloon Bar to draw attention to the subject. Naturally, we should also demand that whomever is making the claim provide proof that they are the originator of the material. Reckless Noise Symphony (talk) 07:18, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
See my comment on the talk page. Scream!! (talk) 08:31, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Discouraging lawsuits[edit]

Tmtoulouse doesn't want to encourage people to sue us. Please don't suggest that he does. Proxima Centauri (talk) 17:25, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry, I only based that on five years of conversation with the man. ħumanUser talk:Human 04:20, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
RationalWiki has changed over the years, RationalWikians have matured. A great deal of what was written in previous years was deleted because it's, 'what we were'. One change is we're more concerned about preventing lawsuits. The Kent Hovind affair could benefit us because has focused us on the consequences of lawsuits and the need to be prepared. Proxima Centauri (talk) 10:16, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Verrrry interrrresting. ħumanUser talk:Human 00:37, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

If you could please tell Dr. Toulouse thank you for hosting my amateur encyclopedia writing.[edit]

I deeply appreciate that you have information here absent from Wikipedia, like the page for Fundamentalist Mormonism for example. I also really appreciate you'd accept the absence of any studies to be noted when the unexplored variables are painfully obvious even to laymen like myself. I only have one edit I felt were unnecessarily reverted, when I said the developmental speed of the primitive streak was likely connected, for the most part my stay here was without incident and I made a few improvements to the articles arguments.

I have but a small favor to ask, I would like for one of the higher ups at Rational wiki to vouch for me to the Wikipedia Arbcom, for what ever affect that may have. I felt my time was better spent here than editing Memory Alpha, even though the only reason I was blocked from Wikipedia was because of over categorizing fiction, it seems at times like none at Wikipedia even remember that I mostly edit non-fiction. I learned my lesson about adding hundreds of categories in a day and having to use printed sources for media studies still.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for doing all this for free, or I guess less than free in the case of whose paying to host this. My only regret here is that I never really got the house style of humor. Amateur Encyclopedist (talk) 23:28, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

What's your opinion on Exiled Encyclopedist's infestation of this wiki?[edit]

Based off what you say about your self, I'd say we have similar views on most issues (not on guns); but I would prefer hearing your opinion on my edits. I'm sorry if you get in trouble for anything I've said. I guess if your Human, than I'm Vampire. I'll be leaving now, the parts on religious views towards abortion are as valid to include in the stem cell research section as absolute heat is for the big bang. Beginnings can be as difficult as endings. Also why do you even have fiction pages at all if people can't cite them to make the devil and God look stupid using the arguments of Gene Roddenberry and the writers of the David Tennant's run as Doctor Who, do you want more or less talk of fiction? The devil is just an idea, and Kirk doesn't care about appearances, only actions.

On a much more serious note, could I get your assistance with Rape, Genetic Engineering and my edits to presidential slavery? I'm also having trouble with Ryulong in the chicken coop. They are about to ban me for having no use, despite being on most of the pages on this Wiki. Exiled Encyclopedist (talk) 00:43, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

"Most members of the conventional press are, of course, cowardly minds. They almost universally buy the corporate spin (or the White House spin) and never ask any tough questions anymore. Some of the REAL heroes -- the people who are asking intelligent questions about our world -- include:

Do you see a pattern here? Each one of these individuals has been marginalized or viciously attacked and slandered simply because they chose to ask intelligent questions about the world around them. Now, I don't agree with every single thing said by each one of these people, but I admire each of them for having the courage to ask the questions that need to be asked if we are to move forward as a society (and civilization).

I was talking about something you said on my page, but wow. Isn't Andrew Wakefield a vaccine crank? Ron Paul, Alex Jones, I guess you're more of a libertarian-liberal than a standard liberal, huh? I'm not Obama's bitch either. Rabbitxhampster (talk) 04:57, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Human's quoting that not for something he agrees with, but for...something. A list of people we need articles on? B/c I doubt that Human would respect almost anyone on that list. And besides Wakefield, Rense, Icke, and Jones, etc., the page that's coming from claims there's a cure for cancer. So to say that Human's posting that as something he agrees with means Human possibly the biggest deep-cover mole in internet history. ThunderkatzHo! 05:04, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

From an email about the Texas biology textbook controversy[edit]

"The most recent review of biology textbooks was a particularly egregious process considering the people who were invited to participate. Here are just a few of the reviewers who are listed in the Creation Science Hall of Fame as “Darwin Skeptics”4:

  • Raymond Bohlin, a research fellow for an organization whose purpose is the promotion of “intelligent design” — a religious idea which seeks to cast doubt on evolution while circumventing the Supreme Court ruling that bars the teaching of “creation science” in public schools.5
  • Walter Bradley, who helped launch the "intelligent design” movement with a book he coauthored, titled The Mystery of Life's Origin.
  • Ide Trotter, a wealthy funder of anti-science organizations who has repeatedly participated in science textbook reviews advocating for the inclusion of scientifically discredited theories about the weaknesses of evolution."

I dunno. Make it simple text (no colors etc.), and if you can't incorporate a "delete this section" button, have it say "feel free to remove this post from your talk page". The thing is, since the bot fixes the signing, there's not much to gain by telling the editor about it, except perhaps for noobs. ħumanUser talk:Human 19:19, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
