Human, old boy[edit]
Since you know that I am really a sock of Bohdan my secret identity, and since I know convention around here is that asking to be demoted usually means your are unworthy of the privilege, can you do me a favor? I would like it if I was not demoted to a sysop, that way I can not use any powers that sysops have (such as a mop and/or bucket) for things sysops around here do. If you'd be willing to do this for me, that'd be a grand time indeed. Old guard (talk) 03:33, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- I hadn't even thought twice about burdening you with such a lowly, demeaning set of chores around here, not-Bohdan, or not-whoever-else-you-aren't.
- Of course, I can't really prevent any of these other fine citizens, both naturalized and natural-born, from sticking you with the Charlie work.
- Is there a special way I can flag your account so others will think twice before doing it, and then do it anyway? ħuman 03:46, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Hawking Radiation[edit]
Fellow human! Since you are interested in physics pages, I would like to ask for you opinion on this matter. I think that that article should be merged into Stephen Hawking's page, perhaps with its own section. What do you think?
- (I'm not the person you asked this to but happened to see you post a section named "Hawking Radiation" in RC so thought I'd reply anyway.) Tbh it can probably be merged; Hawking radiation is not particularly relevant to RW's mission if you'd ask me (though black holes in general are relatively seewhatididthere? important because of the woo surrounding them).--JorisEnter (talk) 00:08, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- No, you aren't, are you? Do you do this sort of thing all the time? ħuman 04:48, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- @JorisEnter: I see what you did there. LOL! Nerd (talk) 00:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Just tossing my hat in to agree with Joris - using a wpl link to Hawking Radiation when and if we need it (e.g. when debunking black hole woo) is more than enough. Actually covering Hawking Radiation is not missional, nor something we'd want (because when we try to ape encyclopedic articles, they become like really crappy encyclopedic articles, because RW isn't actually an encyclopedia). All the best, Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:01, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- I gave a quick description of Hawking radiation in his own page and linked it to the Wikipedia article. That should be enough, unless some cranks get creative. By the way, I have run into a number of RW physics pages that I think should be deleted or merged. Maybe that could be our project this summer. Nerd (talk) 02:05, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Wonderful! It's as important to constantly prune away the bad and unnecessary content as it is to add new contributions. There's tons of articles that need merging and rewrites (for example, all the Noah's Ark mergers we've got support for in the duplicate articles thread). If that merger ever gets done, we will have a glorious new front page article to add to the roster. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 02:25, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Physics[edit]
Since you are the one to created the page, I would just like to cordially invite you to come check out how it has improved. It is by no means perfect but has become a lot richer. The last section needs to be updated; the detection of the Higgs boson and gravitational waves deserve to be mentioned. I will do that soon. I am proud to have added a lot to it. Take care, Nerd (talk) 02:50, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
- Lots of bad writing there... don't know if that was you or not, though. The opening to 21st century is barely English. ħuman 18:59, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- I did not touch the 21st century bit. I plan to get to it soon. In the meantime, please continue improve the page at your leisure. Nerd271 (talk) 15:41, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- I tried to improve that bit. Mistakes in other parts are likely to be mine. That's why I took a break from writing that article and asked another editor to take a look. Had I proofread immediately, chances are I would not have been able to catch my mistakes. On top of that, tiredness can prevent me from recognizing grammatical errors. - Before I forget, while it may seem more natural to say dynamic systems, dynamical systems is the standard term. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, in light of the fact that we say, for example, Maxwell's thermodynamic relations, but not Maxwell's thermodynamical relations. Nothing really changes here so I think we should leave it be. However, if you think electromotive force or emf is a horrible name dating back to the time when people did not distinguishes between forces and energies and should be replaced by electromotance than I would agree with you. Does this bother you?[edit]
Are you bothered by RationalWiki being used to attack individuals online? I am. Having articles such as this are not really serving much of a purpose here, and all it is doing is creating more suspicions and negative attention for RationalWiki because of other websites like this in response. It is pretty obvious to me that this is all based on some personal vendettas against this individual. It is probably creating more problems in the long run. Looking at the talk page history, it has been going on far too long and it is getting harder and harder to justify why we are doing this. Makertech (talk) 01:44, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- Yawn. You woke me up for this? ħuman 02:50, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- You yourself noted on that talk page that the article was a clear attack piece. It might be better to consider this now than to lose sleep later about a broader issue things like this may cause. Get a good nights sleep and you can respond once you've had a good rest. Good night.Makertech (talk) 05:12, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- Personally, I am sick of seeing articles about some dumb Internet drama. I don't find snarky articles about an individual interesting, I find it plain annoying especially when snark dominates analysis.—Hamburguesa con queso con un cara (talk • stalk) 06:47, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- Looks like pointless attack piece. I searched in vain for the individual's stance on missional topics, and it seemed like he was guilty of agreeing with some people we might not like, sometimes. So why hasn't the article been cleaned up and trimmed down to the relevant details? (If any?) ħuman 17:11, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

DPL stuff on your user page[edit]
I'm going to remove the DPL contributions box from your user page, and I'd suggest that you leave it out at least until MySQL is upgraded. Under ordinary circumstances, it is slow, about 17 seconds, but when the server is under load, it is very slow indeed -- I logged your user page yesterday taking 16 hours (!) to render. The PHP timeout was not hit because it measures CPU time, not including MySQL query time. It's probably a MySQL bug, but there's not much we can do about that right now other than disable things that trigger it. Tim Starling (talk) 06:40, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. It wasn't really mine anyway. I just cleared out the section(s), for simplicity. ħuman 16:55, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Economics[edit]
Just out of curiosity - I can't put my head to it - what is the general economic stance around here? Sometimes I get the sense that it comes from a sort of mixed capitalism (with a social democratic leaning) and other times I get the sense that it is Chicago School/Neoclassical (Mill, Marshal, Friedman, etc.). Just curious to see what you think. Darth Ravigious (talk) 13:10, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
- I would hardly be in a position to generalize about that - I am just not active enough to have a sense of the positions held by the active user base these days. You could try taking a poll, perhaps? ħuman 17:54, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
