A nice break from bigotry[edit]

Hey, Human, I found a good site: Religious Tolerance.

Not sharing for any real reason, though I find the site refreshing after reading Conservapedia, and even sometimes after RationalWiki. --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:59, 28 January 2008 (EST)

Hehe, cool, thanks. Yeah, CP gots their militant YECiots, and we gots our share of militant atheists... Personally I like a one hour show that's on Air America Sat from 10-11 and Sundays from 7-8 EST, State of Belief with the Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy. He's hilarious, and obviously religious but very ecumenical. humanUser talk:Human 18:46, 28 January 2008 (EST)

Gee, thanks abunchofnumbers! humanUser talk:Human 18:00, 30 January 2008 (EST)
I concur with the above sentiment. Regrettably, I'm all out of cookies. :-( --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 19:14, 30 January 2008 (EST)
You can enable your cookies on your toolbar. Also, socks are nice.--PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 19:16, 30 January 2008 (EST)
I would, but as you may recall, User:Interpreted took all my cookies, and then nuked my user page. --AKjeldsenGodspeed! 19:23, 30 January 2008 (EST)
The cookies are yummy and appreciated, but has anyone brought Scotch??? Ah, there it is! humanUser talk:Human 19:32, 30 January 2008 (EST)
Cookie half.jpg For demonstrating exemplary goatery in the line of duty, NamuH

Cockroaches ate half of it.

Cookies from socks are so much better than imaginary cookies from imaginary people. -- labacnamuħ   19:45, 30 January 2008 (EST)

Thanks everyone! And, abunchofnumbers, I forgot to blush at what I hope was a compliment (Mussolini was supposedly a "VERY EFISHUNT ADMIN." too...) humanUser talk:Human 19:56, 30 January 2008 (EST)

vast RW conspiracy[edit]

Were you seriously offended? Its not like I said "libtard". (that one never gets old!) Locke 23:35, 30 January 2008 (EST)

What? when? where? how? humanUser talk:Human 23:38, 30 January 2008 (EST)
What are you talking about? Why did you come say "for that you deserve a block"? Was it because I said you were part of a rat-wiki conspiracy? Locke 23:39, 30 January 2008 (EST)
What are you talking about? I was playing cat and mouse with Bohdan, what were you doing, pinto bean guy?
I am not the pinto bean guy. Locke 23:43, 30 January 2008 (EST)
Well, are you impersonating him? That is naughty and punishable by deaf! humanUser talk:Human 23:50, 30 January 2008 (EST)
I'm the Pinto Bean Guy. ^He's Bohdan. Pinto's5150 Talk 23:45, 30 January 2008 (EST)
No, I am not him either. Locke 23:45, 30 January 2008 (EST)

  • Libtard. user talk:Bohdan 23:53, 30 January 2008 (EST)
You can call me anything you want, you asteriskatroid. It won't make you less of an asteriskatroid. You askeriskatroid, you. PS, I might block you for any idiotic random reason I come up with, as long as it is a very short block, and we aren't edit warring over an article! 23:56, 30 January 2008 (EST)

Heh! Given you something to do haven't I?! SusanPurrrrrrr 17:50, 31 January 2008 (EST)

Well, someone is now going to have to enter useful info for all those templates... and not having the empty params in place makes it eleven times harder </whine> And I still question its usefulness. Oh, and can you please make helpnav list things alphabetically? humanUser talk:Human 17:53, 31 January 2008 (EST)

Usefulness? What sort of criterion is that for including anything? The alpha thing - I've had an idea - back in a while. SusanPurrrrrrr 18:25, 31 January 2008 (EST)

its just too bad[edit]

I am amazed at what this site has become. Quality vandalism doesn't last ten seconds before a hotheaded admin reverts it, then issues a block. Its almost like they think somebody actually cares. Locke 22:38, 2 February 2008 (EST)

(You're blocked, so I can answer) Are you calling Bohdan's vandalism quality? Because most of it is repeating the same joke about x being a sockpuppet of y. Funny the first couple of times, kinda lame by the 314th. ThunderkatzHo! 22:57, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Chill out. Nobody cares about this wiki. And yes, the vandalism was quality. But the sock notices, those were legitimate. Locke 23:06, 2 February 2008 (EST)
No, just tiresome and booooorrring. Sock announcements are so "last November". humanUser talk:Human 23:18, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Your comments didn't make sense until I remembered that Locke = Pintobean and Pintobean = Bohdan 2.0. And I'll fight you if you accuse me of being hotheaded again. ThunderkatzHo! 23:29, 2 February 2008 (EST)
I think my brain just melted.--PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 23:34, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Brains don't melt. Locke 23:50, 2 February 2008 (EST)
No, Locke = Bohdan; and PintoBean signs as Locke. So Locke should blocked/renamed as a cheap doppelganger attempt. Doc, it's not that hard to keep track of! We are all sockpuppets, after all, of Helena Bonham Carter! humanUser talk:Human 23:46, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Almost. You're all actually brains in jars in my lab. I keep the jar juice just the right temperature to avoid any melting unpleasantness. --Helena Bonham Carter 00:01, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Why should Locke be blocked/renamed? How about making Pintobean sign with what his account is? Locke 23:50, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Brains don't melt, eh? Who's the doctor here?? Next you're gonna tell me that UFO's aren't real.--PalMD-Did that sound a little harsh? 23:52, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Whens the last time you saw a brain melt? Locke 23:54, 2 February 2008 (EST)
  • I am not Locke. Are you getting paranoid Human? user talk:Bohdan 23:53, 2 February 2008 (EST)
lol Locke 23:54, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Not at all (are we all colon-impaired tonight?). But, if there was any housekeeping to be done, "Locke" should be renamed and the pinto bean guy should be renamed Locka, as he has bin signing for oh-so-long. It just didn't occur to him that some scum sucking slug would try to doppelgang him. humanUser talk:Human 23:57, 2 February 2008 (EST)
Are you saying that you have been doppleganging him? Shame! Locke 23:58, 2 February 2008 (EST)

Are you saying I am run by Radioactive afikomen? Locke 00:21, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Silly. Radioactive afikomen is a well-organized, highly original moron. So he clearly cannot be Bohdan. -- labacnamuħ   00:26, 3 February 2008 (EST)
Ames isn't all that original, but is he a moron? He is a lawyer, does that count? Locke 00:29, 3 February 2008 (EST)

But was he a moron? Locke 20:24, 3 February 2008 (EST)

Hello Human,

So, Bohdan, you wish to be renamed as "Oscar"? humanUser talk:Human 00:10, 4 February 2008 (EST)

Its already been done, junior. user talk:Oscar 00:15, 4 February 2008 (EST)
  • Hey, Junior, please remove my name from the blocklog. Replace it with your name, or AmesG or something. Thanks in advance, user talk:Oscar 15:37, 4 February 2008 (EST)
Why? Are you turning over a new (fig) leaf? Bad case of 'sterisks you got there, Mr. Grouch, by the way. Hope it heals up soon! humanUser talk:Human 15:56, 4 February 2008 (EST)

Your smelly doppelganger could use a helping hand[edit]

Eh, Human, I have a slight problem with the layout on my userpage. On a widescreen moniter, my userpage has the exact look I'm going for. On a standard moniter, my it looks like it was randomly thrown together. Can you come up with a solution that appears more or less the same in each ratio? I'm trying to maximize the blinding obscenity of the page, so I'm trying a solid wall of epileptic sparklies above and below the flashing message. Cheers and fruitcake,  labacnamuħ   17:28, 4 February 2008 (EST)

I'll take a look and seee what I can come up with... images don't like to play well together though. First thought - put them all in a table, which will force the width of the display. humanUser talk:Human 20:34, 4 February 2008 (EST)
It looks like you are shooting for a "box" of that image surrounding the blinking text to me? I would say, use a table, make it three images wide, text a wee bit smaller and in the center cell. I'll whip it up for you, feel free to revert. humanUser talk:Human 20:40, 4 February 2008 (EST)
Tanks! It doesn't match my vision perfectly, but it's better than anything I could come up with. -- labacnamuħ   02:49, 5 February 2008 (EST)

I've, er, expanded upon your original idea. However, I can't get the flashing text in the middle to center (I'm trying to double its font size to fill up all four boxes). There's also this gap in the arrangement that I can't figure out how to fill. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. -- labacnamuħ   03:13, 5 February 2008 (EST)

I fixed it up for you. Two rows of six cells afore and below, the row with the text has a double wide and double tall cell for the text, and the fourth row only hhas four cells since two are taken up by the big cell in row three. humanUser talk:Human 13:19, 5 February 2008 (EST)

Hey Junior, make me a sysop. You've made every single moron on this wiki one (including the "sensitive man" user) so make me one now. I want to, you know, help revert vandalism and the such. If you choose not to, I want the reason why. And please, other worthless morons, don't respond to this. Only the user:Human moron. Thanks in advance, user talk:Oscar 23:07, 4 February 2008 (EST)

I can respond, of course, because I am not a moron. -- labacnamuħ   02:50, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Well Junior? Am I going to be made a sysop? And no, if you actually read what was written, you were described as a moron also. user talk:Oscar 11:28, 5 February 2008 (EST)
I just noticed that that wasn't you, rather your sock. He is a moron also. user talk:Oscar 11:28, 5 February 2008 (EST)
I resent that. I put a lot of effort into that sock, and it grates on me that others get credited for it. --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 15:55, 5 February 2008 (EST)

"I want to, you know, help revert vandalism and the such." - any user can do so with the "rollback" button. Did you also want to block wandals and vital trusted editors? Are you a liberal in deceit? Are you in violation of our 99/1 rule? I'll bet that with 95% certainty you are against players in school, since most deceivers are! Please stop with the edit, edit, edit and make constructive contributions to this project's valuable talk pages! Goatspeed, humanUser talk:Human 13:23, 5 February 2008 (EST)

Look, if you just block Tmtoulouse forever, I will stop asking. user talk:Oscar 13:40, 5 February 2008 (EST)

That's all there was. And did we ever reach a consensus on Locke being Oscar? Pinto's5150 Talk 19:00, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Hmm, looks like sockpuppet vandalism to me. I might have done it if you had done something risky like making Bohdan a sysop for too long. Gotta keep that grouch on a short leash... As far as user:Locke, I think it/he should be deleted & you renamed (or at least, you get the keys to the account). I think it crosses the confusion line a little too far. And I have no idea who runs user:Locke, it could be any of the two or three actual editors on RW. So am I supposed to make you a 'crat again? Have you been good? humanUser talk:Human 19:11, 5 February 2008 (EST)
I agree on nuking Locke, I'll just take the keys though, renaming now would cause even more confusion. As for the crat thing, it makes no real difference, I just wondered why. Pinto's5150 Talk 19:14, 5 February 2008 (EST)
What sort of lunatic are you? Block me because Pinto's5150 refuses to sign with his own username? That is the stupidest, most idiotic plan ever. Locke 19:15, 5 February 2008 (EST)
  • If you block/rename this account, you are violating your own rules regarding sockpuppets and usernames. The slide into fascism has started. Your no better than what you claim conservapedia is. Locke 19:16, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Yep, definitely Bohdan. Eh, let him live perhaps? Pinto's5150 Talk 19:18, 5 February 2008 (EST)
How do you know that? I could be any single editor or lurker who has followed this sites slide from anarchy into fascism (don't deny it, you know its hapening). Locke 19:20, 5 February 2008 (EST)
As long as his user name doesn't cause you any real problems, and others have a vague chance of being able to tell the two of you apart, fine. By the way, anyone could have copied and pasted that response in an attempt to frame Boschardoan. humanUser talk:Human 19:21, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Yeah, so long as the sigs stay different, people should have a chance to tell us apart. And about the C&P thing, yea, I guess you're right. Pinto's5150 Talk 19:23, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Please, stop this crazy showtrial. I am not Bohdan. Locke 19:26, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Junior, this Locke account is not me, though I am amused and a little flattered. Oscar 19:32, 5 February 2008 (EST)
His work here and his tactics are amazing. Oscar 19:32, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Just block us all with, oh, say, a three day block and sort this thing out later. Locke 19:44, 5 February 2008
Let's pretend I did that just slightly over three days ago. Pi days later... Now, where were we? humanUser talk:Human 21:28, 5 February 2008 (EST)
Human, Locke is definitely Oscar. Or haven't you noticed that Locke rarely appears unless Oscar is somehow involved? A comparison between Oscar's interactions and Locke's editing patterns is all it takes to confirm this. Examples: Locke's first edit off his own talkpage is to ask Godless Liberal about a picture that only Bohdan cares about or remembers; Locke's second edit off his own talkpage is to back up Bohdan in supporting TK; Locke responds to AmesG's post on Bohdan's talk page in barely a minute; Locke addresses himself in the third person and admits "this is Bohdan"; Locke spends another post spent arguing with those who banned TK (note that Bohdan is the only user here with both the motive (one of the few to vouch for TK) and the character to make a sockpuppet to bolster his arguments; Locke spends an assload of of time doing nothing but reverting others' edits to Oscar's userpage; and Locke responds, but not Oscar, after I lock Oscar's userpage and talkpage. Even their style of wandalism is identical. One must conclude that Oscar is the person behind Locke. --Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:01, 5 February 2008 (EST)
WOW! Here we are discussing this sites descent into fascism, and along you come with a carefully documented secret dossier on me. Your paranoia is laughable. Nevertheless, all this is based on pure speculation. But it is certainly revealing of you, and this site you are trying to destroy. Locke 22:22, 5 February 2008 (EST)
You are at least as ignorant as Oscar. Allow me to elucidate: one of the defining traits of fascism is the glorification of violence and war, as well as rapid anti-intellectualism. I don't see any of that happening here. Secondly, "secret dossier" implies, well, secret. All users' contributions here are a matter of public record. It is not a "carefully documented dossier" because I didn't compile it until I wrote the post. And compiling evidence is also standard procedure when making any sort of hypothesis—it's called "research", Locke. You should try it some time. Citing specific, observable examples in order to back up my argument is also the ethical thing to do, otherwise it would be a baseless accusation (and the examples are provided specifically in order to demonstrate that it is not baseless).
You also clearly have no idea what paranoia actually means.

1. A psychotic disorder characterized by delusions of persecution with or without grandeur, often strenuously defended with apparent logic and reason.
2. Extreme, irrational distrust of others. (American Heritage Dictionary)

I entertain no delusions that you are "persecuting" me. And what, exactly, makes my hypothesis extreme or irrational? Do provide evidence, Locke. New Holydaze template I made[edit]

I just finished making a possible replacement for the current Template:Holydaze. The version I made would replace the moving <noinclude> tags with a more user-friendly template parameter. You can see what I mean at User:assume a=a/holydaze, where I've created the page that would replace Template:Holydaze, along with its documentation. It uses a template subpage, Template:Holydaze/inner, which I already put in place.

The advantage of my version of the template is that it uses a template parameter. The parameter is clearly marked at the top of the template page, allowing it to be switched more easily. Also, direct use of Template:Holydaze/inner on pages other than recentchanges would allow use of different holidays on different pages, something that currently requires cut & paste of the code for that holiday and is not automatically updated if that holiday's message changes.

Another thing I wrote into the template was documentation and messages that encourage people to fill in messages for holidays with no message at the moment. Other than this slight change, it uses the exact same messages as the current version.

Do you think this would be a good replacement for Template:Holydaze? I'd like to get some input on this before making a sudden, undiscussed change to such a widely visible page. assume  12:45, 10 February 2008 (EST)

Yah, don't change it quite yet. Let me look over what you did, certainly making use easier makes sense. But, you know, I think we might be able to make it automatic with a date parser function (kind of, if month=2 and if day=14 then [valentine's day]). Like how template:nextPrim works? Just a thought. Now let me go look more closely at your new version. humanUser talk:Human 14:53, 10 February 2008 (EST)
Never even thought of making it automatic... that's a really good idea! assume
Not to butt in, but I've been thinking about it too--I'm a bit busy at the moment; maybe later in week.... Sterilexx 17:15, 10 February 2008 (EST)
It's not butting in at all, the more heads we have thinking of ways to make it easy the better! humanUser talk:Human 18:41, 10 February 2008 (EST)

Ha! me too - automating that is! using something like #ifexpr (startdate <= (now) and finishdate >= (now))| ... etc easy in C but ... SusanMiouw 21:14, 10 February 2008 (EST)

I knew it wouldn't be long before you would turn up to help us build our new toy! It would be awesome to have it all on one page, with obvious and easy to edit "banners" and dates. because, of course, some holydaze are moveable feasts... humanUser talk:Human 21:23, 10 February 2008 (EST)
Start: table, 1 col= start date (allows for things lasting mor than 1 day); 2 col = banner; 3 col = finish date. Pick appropriate day(s) for display. (that's the tricky bit) SusanMiouw 21:37, 10 February 2008 (EST)
How about conditionals that result in "includeonly" tags based on the dates in the table? Or, the dates are on lines just above and below the banner, and are actually generated by the conditional code? (making copying, using them, etc. easier) humanUser talk:Human 21:48, 10 February 2008 (EST)
Could do it with a seperate page for each holyda - that's how wp do their featured front page article (not as good as ours?). Page name includes date & template call varies with current date. A bit unweildy! SusanMiouw 22:34, 10 February 2008 (EST)
Yah... I hate "cascading templates" if not necessary. Makes for very opaque functions. Let's make this work out of one page/template, with perhaps external support functions. humanUser talk:Human 23:16, 10 February 2008 (EST)

Hmmm... can't seem to get <noinclude> etc. to work with the conditionals... Sterilexx 12:45, 13 February 2008 (EST)
I've had the same trouble - seems as if wikitalk fights wikiparsing. :-) SusanMiouw 12:52, 13 February 2008 (EST)

Yeah, Sterile, that's what I meant. Although, most of the "greetings" should only run on the day itself (or days, for things like kwaanza). What do people think of using something like Sterile's thing as the main template, but putting the greetings themselves either in one long template or each in their own subtemplate?

So a line from the template would look like this:

{{ #ifexpr: {{ #time: z }} > 304 and {{ #time:z }} < 310 |{{/guyfawkes}}|

Or this:

{{ #ifexpr: {{ #time: z }} > 304 and {{ #time:z }} < 310 |{{/banners#Guy Fawkes Day}}|

That way, at the subpage where the templates are, they will be "visible" while editing/previewing?

Oh, and Sterile, instead of a whole series of nested conditionals, can they be standalone? As in:

...if (date=feb14) then (valentine) if (date=jul14) then (bastille)...

It just makes it easier to edit/adapt, I think. Or do they have to be if/then/else? Just a few random thoughts. humanUser talk:Human 14:50, 13 February 2008 (EST)

I'll have to look into some more. One easier to modify back version (like you suggested...) led to some awkward spacing. Gotta run. Sterilexx 18:12, 13 February 2008 (EST)
Yes - after every condidtional on that one there is a carraige return, so they all get used. I'll play with it here. humanUser talk:Human 19:22, 13 February 2008 (EST)

We were there at the same time. Cool. My favorite contributions were adding mercy and forgiveness as characterisics of Christianity (that's right, surprise, they only had sin and punishment), a few juicy quotes that are still on Coulter's page, Rush Limbaugh's oxycontin addiction (still there) and adding a reason for dropping the atomic bomb on Harry Truman's page that RobS didn't know about and got him running about shouting "Disinformation!" until I added a citation from the Friends' web site. Anyway, nice to run into you again. PoorEd 14:30, 15 February 2008 (EST)

Too bad, I would have enjoyed it even more back then. PoorEd 14:37, 15 February 2008 (EST)
Ah, I remember you. Nice to meet you again :) "Suicide by RobS", ROFL. Yah, RW 1.0 was like a bunch of people who work together and hate their jobs meeting at a bar after work blowing off steam. RW 2.1's big job now is learning to accomodate as well as possible newer editors who don't align with the groupthink that CP created among the "original" and early editors. In other words, to foster the sort of discussions we wanted to have at CP when we were allowed to play there. humanUser talk:Human 14:44, 15 February 2008 (EST)
There is no record anymore of NitramNos overthere, or I can't find it. Pity. PoorEd, have you already read the Conservapedia Timeline article, along with the Night of the blunt knives one? "Human was one of the building blocks of CP" - really? Not sure what you mean there... humanUser talk:Human 15:13, 15 February 2008 (EST)
Just defaming. No, really: back in those times, many came to CP having read about it in blogs etc. But if CP only were an Andy + his cohort project, it would have been forgotten soon - as it would now, if there were no RW. What made it flourish (?) and attracted new editors, me included, was the unique combination of crazy editors in good faith, more or less subtle vandals, and "liberals" genuinely wanting to improve the site (many editors falling in both the last two categories). Without you and the rest of RW 1.0 with your tireless contributions and discussions with Andy and co., CP would not be what it is. Editor at CPBring TK back 15:20, 15 February 2008 (EST)
I heard about it on NPR and loved the idea that you could just jump right in and start editing anything you wanted. I enjoyed clicking on "random page" and adding to any article where I seemed to know more than the original contributor. And it was liberating not to have to look up a citation for things I already knew to be true. When I discovered the depth of conservative bias my focus changed to finding subtle ways to introduce truth into some of the more controversial subjects, with mixed success. PoorEd 15:29, 15 February 2008 (EST)

sig help[edit]

i set up a page for my sig, and tried internal link in my preferences, and that doesnt work. How do you do it?User:PalMD/sig 23:20, 15 February 2008 (EST)

first suggestion, go to "help" and ubercool, sig stuff. I think it might help? I hope so. I'll dig into what you've got shortly, though some is opaque, as part of your prefs.

YW, Susan did an amazing job of pulling those files together. As a small wiki, we may have the best help files on the tubes! OK, she made me write the sig thing after I tried to explain it to someone... but I thought you already had the sig thing worked out? Wow. Still cold?[edit]

For you (if it works: its a mobile address) SusanMiouw 15:57, 17 February 2008 (EST)

Above freezing now, supposed to rain tonight. That lake is nice - I live about 3.5 miles from a roundabout where all the local shops are, and that lake (pond) is right on the road. Driving north while the moon is rising over mist can be really purdy. It's called Wheelwright's Pond, by the way. Named for the guy who founded Exeter (NH, not UK). humanUser talk:Human 16:03, 17 February 2008 (EST)

My pleasure. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Oh, shoot, I missed the "CP namespace" part. Should I move it, or is it fine where it is? I think even though it's a CP thing, it's not exactly WIGO-trivial, and is so closely related to teh assfly's public persona (lawyer for AAPS, pretend medical expert) it should be in the mainspace, like our autism/vaccine and breast cancer/abortion stuff. humanUser talk:Human 17:21, 23 February 2008 (EST)

This is too good not to share![edit]

I don't know where to go with this one so I'll give it to you as you seem to be an authority on issues. On the CP page for Senator Carl Levin, it says that he supports the rights of MINERS to get out of state abortions. Can this idiocy be shown somewhere on this site?, "Social Issues" section. — Unsigned, by: Ekulwyo / talk / contribs

Perhaps. Often things like this just get discussed in Conservapedia talk:What is going on at CP?. I'll go check it out though. Also, please remember to sign your talk page comments with four tildes, like this: ~~~~. That will put a link to your user page and a time/date stamp after your comment. Thanks! humanUser talk:Human 16:56, 23 February 2008 (EST)
Wow, rampant illiteracy if nothing else! How many errors are there in:
"Levin supports that expansion of embryonic stem cell research and voted no on a mandatory patently notification for miners who wish to get a out of state abortion. A liberal abortion rights group, NARAL, gave him a 100% rating, proving his stance pro-abortion stance. Liven also opposes the federal marriage amendment"? humanUser talk:Human 16:58, 23 February 2008 (EST)

This was too good to pass up, so I added it to Conservapedia:What_is_going_on_at_CP?. Thanks, Ekulwyo! humanUser talk:Human 17:48, 23 February 2008 (EST)
