I hope you're safe and not in the path of the fire too :)-💠💿☝️ (talk) 23:41, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- @DiamondDisc1: I'm safe. The fire could still hit my house, but probably not for a few hours. If the winds are favorable, things might be OK. I have friends who lost almost everything though... RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:18, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- Which fire, there were two fires: one in Northern California and one in Anaheim Hills in Orange County. Thankfully, both were too far away to have an impact, and the Anaheim Hills one turned the sky orange. --It's-a me, 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 00:24, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- @LeftyGreenMario: Northern California. RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:25, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yah, that's a pretty bad fire. It really sucks that one person died, though... this is the worst fire in a while, isn't it? --It's-a me, 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 00:27, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah, possibly worse than the Oakland Hills fire. Not to mention that the new death toll is at least seven, some reports of ten. RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:37, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- It was quite windy, they're not putting this out anytime soon.-💠💿☝️ (talk) 03:28, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- Police reports seem to indicate that it's mostly calm where I live. Hoping it goes better in other areas. RoninMacbeth (talk) 03:38, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- @DiamondDisc1: And to top it off, apparently there was a small earthquake about an hour ago. It's the c*m frosting on the s**t cake. RoninMacbeth (talk) 03:49, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Patrolling whitewashing[edit]
Unless you planned to undo it, you did patrol a small act of whitewashing. If in doubt, don't patrol it. Christopher (talk) 17:11, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Christopher Sorry. I was a little on the fence, patrolled intending to undo, then decided to just let someone else take a look. Forgetting that I had just patrolled it. I'm kind of switching between this and an Economics assignment, so I'm a little distracted right now. RoninMacbeth (talk) 17:35, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

You abandoned your own wikia[edit]
How could u do this to your son????????????????? —ClickerClock (talk) 09:31, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- See, here's the interesting thing: Every time I actively try to LANCB I get pulled back, somehow. However, if I just sort of let things happen then I can focus on other things, which is what has been happening. You'll notice my contributions here of late have been few and far between. I intend to take a break from RWW for the time being. If you need my help with anything, don't hesitate to call me. RoninMacbeth (talk) 17:10, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

You've been nominated in the upcoming moderator elections. See the nomination at RationalWiki:Moderator elections/Nominations.
Bongolian (talk) 00:08, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- @BongolianGiven the relatively low amount of accepted nominations so far, I'll keep my nomination open. In all likeliness, though, I'll decline, because I'm probably one of the worst choices for mod. I'm too permaban-happy, I'm flighty, and I tend to appear and reappear irregularly. I'll only run if there are fewer than 9 acceptances by the time noms close. Thanks for the notice though, and good luck with the campaign. RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:30, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Bongolian Side note, you might want to put the election over the intercom. RoninMacbeth (talk) 00:40, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

Re:J. Zoia[edit]
To be honest, no. But something struck me as off to be recklessly nominating a bunch of users for the role, even inactive ones for the role, despite that there's no rule specifically against it, I thought it would be more of a...common sense thing to not do. Pair it with some questionable edits prior to that (to even merit concern from other users, see the first section led me to use my judgement to stop it. If there's a larger consensus disagreeing with my actions, I would unban J. Zoia, though. БaбyЛuigiOнФire🚓(T|C)

- @LeftyGreenMario @CheeseburgerFace: I simply noticed the frequent use of references to cheerleading and "being the prettiest woman," both of which are common calling cards of Grawp-style trolls. Given that J. Zoia hasn't actually done anything yet, I'm probably wrong. RoninMacbeth (talk) 03:02, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
- I've noticed so myself, but I've already tried my best explaining the user what's going on, assuming the off-chance that J. Zoia / It's Jenn isn't some strange Grawpish troll who put up more effort to disguise and is actually a cheerleader who does actually talk like a valley girl stereotype. I think you have every right to be suspicious, just as long as you don't long-jump from that platform of doubt. Which you didn't, so yeah. --It's-a me, 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 03:37, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, and another comment, @CheeseburgerFace, you really need to understand what doxxing is because this is at least the second time you misunderstood it. No, I wasn't trying to dig your history up, I just was rummaging through Chicken coop archives for curiosity's sake. Again, doxxing is NOT discussing about potential alt accounts. It would be doxxing if any sensitive personal information is revealed without consent including last name, email addresses, home address, your I.P. number, your phone number, your social security, your birthdate, and so on. --It's-a me, 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 03:41, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

trade unions and mieses.org[edit]
Hello, you reverted my edit to trade union without proper explanation so and I have reverted it back. If you can prove that mieses.org is unreliable I would like to see the proof in the talk page for trade unions. Also, your edit summary said that mieses.org is unreliable, yet you reverted my entire edits, which also included things not related to mieses.org. Hey there[edit]
I cannot understand how something can make you reexamine your views without altering them at all. There would have to be at least some bit of altering. My view, that namely a Nazi victory would be better for humanity in the long run compared to what historical trends visible today say about our future, is secondary, and based on my primary view that the 21st century will turn out to be the most tragic and shocking era in human history and that, furthermore, this catastrophe awaiting humanity around the corner will make the tumultuous 20th history seem like a joke. It is this "prophecy" so to speak that I base all other speculation on. A total German victory over the Eurasian and American titans (which is beyond the realm of possibility without nuclear weapons) would have prevented the industrialization of the Chinese mammoth, who I expect to be a chief cause of unrest in our age. Sooner or later however, the slave-owning superstate would have broken off into many states as the Germans sent colonies all around. I don't believe that strict racial policies would have remained in place for very long. Since slaves would be so instrumental to society, at some point master and slave would mingle. This happened to all slave owning societies known to history even though the respective masters didn't think of themselves any less highly than the Nazis did. Here's a telling example.
After Alexander, the Hellenic people sent colonies all around the Mediterranean and much of the Middle East, Egypt and Modern Sudan. They had a high idea of themselves, believing they were intrinsically, even biologically superior (an attitude visible in Aristotle's writings) and frowned upon mingling with people of other races. And yet, not only did they fail to remain pure, they failed to survive at all. In the areas they once lived, Arabic, Turkish or Persian is spoken today and even in Greece itself, where a heavily mixed version of the Byzantine language survives, the people are nothing more than the devilish sire of barbarian killers from Eurasia on one hand and Byzantine settlers from Anatolia, North Africa, Persia and the Caucasus on the other. Those simply adopted the Byzantine language and Christianity but the original Hellenic nation was thoroughly extinguished, punished for its hubris. It is very likely, and for me certain, that Alexander was in fact murdered because he insisted that subject nations be treated the same as the invaders. The ultimate historical result of this fatal decision, visible today, is that no traces of Hellenic presence remain throughout the conquered realm. It is as if history ejected this great nation out of existence. The Germans were destined to be the Hellenes of modernity. To experience an enormous but short-lasting prestige, to deliver great cultural and technological achievements, and to fall apart quickly thereafter becoming forever politically subordinate. I believe that the Nazi superstate would in the long run have faced a fate they didn't expect, an Alexandrian fate. History has its way of stripping someone of all the glory it gives him. Gewgtweg (talk) 18:25, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Another example is in Latin America, where Iberian Caucasians, Native Americans, and imported African slaves intermarried (or at least had children), explaining Latin America's very diverse population. As for the reexamination without alteration of my beliefs, well, it's possible because it made me think about what you said, but ultimately I found myself rejecting your premise. It is likely that most, if not all, of the ethnic groups the Germans had slated for extinction would have been effectively destroyed, either through concentration camps or through "Germanization." They had the means and motive for eventual extermination. Second, even if the PRC had not existed, a Japanese victory might have led to increased industrialization and enslavement of China and the Chinese population, essentially turning China into a Japanese industrial colony similar to pre-War North Korea. Not to mention that the Germans were well-aware of the failures of both Macedon and Rome. Sure, Alexander might have wanted to subjugate non-Hellenic peoples, but he lived in an ancient society that had no intention of active destruction of non-Hellenic peoples, unlike the Third Reich. RoninMacbeth (talk) 19:44, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Though I admit I am sympathetic to your "primary premise," that the 21st Century will be tragic. I just disagree with the second, that an Axis victory would avert this. That's why I have focused so much on the latter, because I see no reason to debate something I already accept. RoninMacbeth (talk) 23:57, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

- Ah. Perhaps I should clarify that I don't know much about autism itself. I can, however, speak to my personal experience as a person on the spectrum, and to a lesser extent to the experience of my cousins.
- Sympathy is always important. Berating a person for saying something stupid is not going to help that much. That probably means Google should have been more nuanced in handling his case. But then again, Damore was an adult, and one could make the case that he should have known better.
- Usually try and take what Damore says at face value. If he says he thinks the title of Grand Wizard sounds cool, it is because he thinks it sounds cool, not necessarily because he's a racist. That's my view.
- Is Damore in the wrong? Yes, the memo is repugnant. Did he say some stupid shit? Definitely. But at the same time, he probably didn't realize it would be offensive, and if he had, he might not have sent the memo or said the KKK thing. That's what I got. RoninMacbeth (talk) 19:50, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. And of course I don't think you're a psychiatrist either but I do think you can offer a perspective on it. I don't think autism is all about being mean.
- I would assume "Grand Wizard" sounds cool in of itself but he doesn't seem really committed to redacting that when called out, if I recall correctly. When I do think about it, I do think about it at face value but it's kind of hard to take this at face value when he's attracting a bad crowd who is more unapologetic about it. I think he may not realize it at first, but he doubled down and isn't committed to distancing himself from that crowd, which is a warning to me. --It's-a me, 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 20:00, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Fellow Aspie here, and the title of "Grand Wizard" is something we should all aspire to, especially if such a title involves men in glorified Halloween outfits.--Don Juan (talk) 08:24, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
History[edit]
If you are a history buff (like me) this book[[2] and this one[3] are almost a must-have. They are VERY WELL illustrated and informative up to the present age, the first book is up to the Trump presidency and Brexit--Kingdamian1 (talk) 02:42, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Kingdamian1Thank you for the recommendations. While we're here, I should recommend Professor Sidney W. Mintz's Sweetness and Power. It's kind of from a liberal perspective and a tad short, but it does consider the development of Western Civilization from an unusual angle, namely the demand for sugar. There's a lot to teach about those things, and tbh, there's a lot of indoctrination to give about those things too. If Sean Hannity can give his oafish vision of the US to kids, I don't see "See jack run.
