A Virtual YouTuber (Also known as a VTuber or VStreamer[note 1] and abbreviated to VT[note 2]) is a type of content creator that uses motion tracking to animate a 2D or 3D avatar in real time rather than using a traditional webcam, to make videos or stream on either YouTube, Twitch, or Kick. Originally starting in Japan, they became popular in the West during the pandemic around the end of 2020 when two of the main leading companies in this business, Hololive
& Nijisanji
, opened their English divisions.
VTubers typically entertain their audiences by singing, playing video games (Mostly MMOs like Valorant
, Dead by Daylight
& Minecraft or Gacha game
s like Genshin Impact
, Zenless Zone Zero
& Goddess of Victory: Nikke
), reacting to videos,[1] posting on Twitter (mostly stupid shit[note 3]) or do other things like spreading weird conspiracy theories for example.[2] It should come to no surprise that the majority of their fanbase are either weeaboos,[note 4] frog posters or other very fun groups who like to look up what their "Oshi"[note 5] did before becoming a VTuber, or posting private information, such as r/VirtualYoutubers on Reddit & /vt/ on 4chan.
The VTuber industry has been plagued with controversies on both sides of the Pacific. For one, many of them have bad sleeping and eating habits due to them being required to stream for a lot of hours (Japan Timezone, in most cases) for these companies. On the other hand, the VTubers themselves aren't saints either. Most notably the corporate VTubers (or Corpos for short) and the big indie ones that want to be on good footings with them are all a bunch of stupid edgelords. Both the fanbase as well as the bigger names in the industry also like to spew out hateful stuff like kink shaming, slut shaming, furry bashing, transphobia, homophobia, queerphobia, racism, anti-Semitism, antifeminism, ableism, sexism & various slurs;[note 6] only to say that they were "only joking" after getting criticism.
YouTube seems to be perfectly okay with this since they have bigger fish to fry,[3] while Twitch has banned some of them but only for a short time and either for something that goes against their ToS[4] or for other reasons.[5]
But remember, it's all about wholesomeness! And normalizing Incel speech, degeneracy,[note 7] stuff from this list, and horniness.[6] Lots and LOTS of horniness.[7] Dear goat, are these people horny.[8]
History[edit]
Origins[edit]
Its origins go all the way back to the 1980s with something called "Virtual Idols". A Virtual Idol is an anime character who's an idol singer in said anime they're in. Examples of such characters are Lynn Minmay
, EVE
(a Virtual AI), Sharon Apple (an incomplete program whose appearance is projected as a hologram via a blackbox with a build-in red sensor) & Fire Bomber
(a rock band) from the anime series Macross
.
In 1995, Japanese Talent Agency Horipro created Kyoko Date
(伊達杏子), the first CGI
idol with many advanced computer graphics. She was largely inspired by the success of aforementioned anime and several dating sim games
[9]. Unfortunately, technical limitations like her movements (also known as uncanny valley
) resulted in her completely vanishing from the scene. Kyoko reappeared in 1999 under the name "Diki" (디키),[10] releasing her album Between in South Korea.[11] She eventually vanished again, after gaining no mainstream success from this album.
Audio manufacturer Yamaha released a voice software program called "Vocaloid 2
" in 2007. One month later, this was used by Crypton Future Media
to create a software voicebank and its own virtual idol mascot who ended up becoming very popular in the years to come, namely...
Hatsune Miku[edit]

On August 31, 2007, Crypton Future Media created a mascot called Hatsune Miku, a 16 year-old virtual 3D pop idol built with the Vocaloid 2 software, who had her first virtual live concert in 2009.[12] Her voice banks were provided by voice actress Saki Fujita
. Originally, she was aimed at professional producers. What they didn't expect, however, is that she gained such a massive boom in popularity with the amateur industry as well as with anime fans and, sadly enough, with the weeaboo crowd.
Her popularity led to many different kinds of merchandise, such as her own series of rhythm games called Project DIVA, a freeware animation program called "MikuMikuDance
" (MMD), a racing motorcycle in 2013 for TT Zero
, a sportscar in 2018 for the Fuji Speedway
world tournament, another bike, a computer with a figurine of hers in it[13], backpacks, this anti-vape add inside a public restroom in Thailand and whatever the fuck this is supposed to be...
Her success inspired others to take it a step further. In 2014, Holotech Studios started a crowd fundraiser on Indiegogo for their new software program called "FaceRig"[14], which captured emotions and facial expression in real time via webcam and ended up being released on Steam
. The Live2D
software was released in the year that followed. A company by the name of Activ8 used this software to create the first VTuber in late 2016.
Kizuna AI[edit]
On November 29, 2016, Activ8 created Kizuna AI (キズナアイ); the first VTuber,[note 8] voiced by a woman named Nozomi Kasuga, to make her debut on YouTube & China's own YouTube called Bilibili
. She's also the one who started calling herself a "Virtual YouTuber", leading to the term getting popularized and being shortened to "VTuber" later on. She was the first VTuber to get 1 million subscribers on YouTube by mid-December 2017 and even reaching the 2 million mark by July 2018.
In 2019, she was given her own separate agency as her success came with a total fiscal loss of 675 million Yen ($6.6 million USD).[15] By 2021, she was the second VTuber to reach 3 million subscribers and again in 2024.
An interesting thing to know about Kizuna is that she did not jump on the edgelord train and went more into her singing & voice acting career than playing video games. This became more obvious when Anycolor Inc. & Cover Corp. opened their VTuber agencies, Hololive Productions & Nijisanji, in 2018. To give you an example of the direction this industry went and the kind of people they started to attract, here are some reactions from gamers when seeing Undyne's death scene in the video game Undertale
(spoilers ahead).[16] And here's how Hololive JP's VTubers reacted.[17][note 9]
But, at least it's in Japan and not something that would ever become popular in the west. Unless some worldwide disaster happened that would lead to lots of people losing their jobs and force them to stay home for the next 2 years until some antidote would be manufactured...
Oh, wait. That actually did happen...

Hogwarts Legacy clusterfuck[edit]
Released in 2023 to various gaming platforms, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action role-playing game which is part of the "Wizarding World" IP
(I.E. Harry Potter and it's spin-offs) created by J.K. Rowling. In it, a player controls a student that they create and go around the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and do all that Harry Potter magic shit you know and love.
Thing is, the IP creator Rowling forgot to take a cup of "shut the fuck up" and ruined her reputation by not only making controversial remarks and taking ill-considered positions - particularly the transphobic variety - but also doubling down on them. As such, several individuals and advocacy groups have urged people to boycott the game, arguing that buying it would provide financial support to Rowling.[19] It was a difficult position, as people were divided between wanting to keep the art separate from the artist and thinking that playing the game was an indirect way of supporting harmful ideas.
So when Hogwarts Legacy was about to come out, some VTubers claimed to have gotten a lot of negative reactions, including harassment and pressure, about whether they would stream or play the game. In particular, these cases got very awry with likes of Amano Pikamee and Silvervale.
Pikamee, a VTuber under the VOMS Project agency, shared her intention to stream Hogwarts Legacy, which sparked criticism from fans and the community due to the game's existing controversies. Following some negative reactions, she canceled the stream and then took a break from activity.[20] Then in March 2023, Pikamee’s agency announced she would “graduate,” a term in the VTuber industry meaning she was leaving or retiring.[21][22][23] The timing was a little bad, with some thinking that her graduation was influenced by the Hogwarts Legacy campaign. Others still believe that she had already planned to graduate before the controversy, making it unclear if the backlash was the main reason for her exit.
Silvervale streamed Hogwarts Legacy, and during and after her streams, she mentioned receiving harassment, threats, and doxxing. One particular issue that drew attention was the word "trans" being filtered or banned in her chat. Some viewers noticed that they were timed-out after typing the word "trans" in her chat on Twitch. She and others explained that her moderation tools, like AutoMod, had automatically flagged it. This, together with her being doxxed, ended up being a lie, since Twitch's AutoMod article states that "Moderators can approve or deny any message caught by AutoMod".[24][25] Some Twitch viewers noticed this as well and called her out on this. She came back three days later after a pretty emotional stream and doubled down on all the people who critized her,[26] going borderline GamerGate with statements that pissed off the people she claims to like and support.[27] She later on started calling the haters "Twitter freaks" in the same stream,[28][29] a slur that is still being used today by the alt-right against the trans community. Silvervale would remove the tweet later on, which was also being noticed by the BreadTuber Vaush.[citation needed]
In addition, some trans VTubers said that Hogwarts Legacy either brought back or made worse the harassment they already faced. They mentioned that it made trolls feel more confident and gave them fresh reasons to target them. "Hate raids" — which are organized attacks where multiple accounts flood a stream with harmful content, often targeting trans people — were reported by several trans creators around that time.[30][31] For creators from marginalized groups, especially transgender creators, online harassment is already a big problem. This controversy acted as a trigger, making harassment more visible and increasing the stress they already face.
Some attackers used a website that tracked which VTubers were streaming Hogwarts Legacy, possibly to target them specifically.[32] Since VTubers often use their online personas closely linked to their real identities (like their avatars and characters), harassment can easily turn into attacks based on their identity, such as threats or doxxing.
Due to Hogwarts Legacy's launch hype and popularity of the Harry Potter IP, many controversies around it became that much more noticeable. There's debate over topics like free expression, the responsibilities of content creators, and whether it's okay to support art from controversial creators.
As VTubers often build strong bonds with their audiences, and changes or issues in their content can lead to intense reactions from their communities. Additionally, many VTubers have fans from different cultures and political views, which can lead to more confusion or conflict.

Sinder's backstage politicking and 2025 meltdown[edit]
“”I understand what he [REDACTED] means, but at the end of the day it's just business!
|
—Sinder, in a now-infamous (and often meme'd) leaked Discord DM to Nanoless[33] |
Even though not as big compared to controversies involving major talent agencies or issues that cross over into legal or corporate accountability, the 2025 Sinder incident is considered significant for causing a large, negative impact within the independent/creator-driven VTuber scene.
Sinder herself is an indie VTuber who debuted in 2022 and built a sizeable following by doing music covers, collaborations and such. Her reputation was quite clean prior to 2025, with the only real big incident she got involved was the harassment campaign directed towards her due to her cover of "CPR" by Cupcakke,[34] leading to to many negative replies and insults.
However, on April 26, 2025, character artist Nanoless (who designed a few of Sinder's character models) published a document on Google Docs titled “Terminating my work with Sinder”, in which they detailed their interactions with Sinder and her manager; referred to as REDACTED or “Red”.[35][36] In the document, Nanoless made made multiple allegations against Sinder and her manager, firstly by stating that the two had manipulated, gaslighted and abused Nanoless by pressuring her into making decisions and dragging them into conflicts. Sinder and Red attempted to get Nanoless to agree to an exclusivity deal, which would limit Nanoless from taking on other clients, but they didn't offer fair payment or benefits. They would also pressure Nanoless not to collaborate with specific other VTubers, creating a kind of blacklist, or speak negatively about other creators to influence Nanoless's opinions. In addition, Sinder and Red would speak ill behind other VTuber talents' backs, trying to blackpaint them in the eyes of Nanoless to take unfair advantage over the artist.
The document states that a lot of the communication and pressure came through Red, the manager, in private direct messages; Nanoless suggests that Sinder didn't do a good job of monitoring or stepping in. Nanoless shared screenshots from Discord chats and direct messages to back up their statements. Since the accusations were serious, a lot of people in the VTuber community started paying more attention.
The fallout was immediate, with her reputation swiftly changing from a lovable talent to despicable backstage politician. The same day, Sinder posted on Twitter that REDACTED will no longer manage or oversee her VTuber activities, effectively ending their public connection.[37] The following day, April 28, Sinder shared a seven-page Google Doc titled "My Apology" as a response to the allegations.[38][39] In her apology, she professed that "Red had a very business-focused way of thinking" that influenced her decisions. She also claimed she didn't completely understand the extent of Red's actions and that "she should have been more careful" about what he was doing. She confirmed that she and Red were in a relationship, meaning he was also her boyfriend right from the beginning of her VTuber career. This was an important point because it raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest. She also apologized to several people involved in the situation, including other VTubers like Bao and her collaborators. She denied being involved in some of the more serious accusations, such as knowing about the blacklisting, or said that if she had found out, she would have handled things differently.
Many people in the community were doubtful about her apology, saying it seemed like she was avoiding responsibility and didn't fully address the issues. The VTuber Shylily specifically pointed out problems with Sinder's apology, claiming she was still manipulating and misleading people, and that she was using personal connections to hide up her business mistakes.[40]
Additionally, Bao The Whale is another VTuber mentioned in the allegations.[41][42] Nanoless said that Sinder/Red talked badly about Bao, especially about sharing an editor or overlapping work. In her apology, Sinder admitted feeling jealous or competitive when Bao hired "her editor," but she said she shouldn't have taken it personally. Bao responded to the apology, accusing Sinder of hiding behind Red and questioning how Sinder could now say she didn't know about things she was there for.[43][44]
The community reacted and Sinder's number of subscribers and followers reportedly dropped quickly; from about 352,000 to around 339,000 on YouTube within about 48 hours. Many within her community and the wider VTuber scene felt her apology wasn't enough, especially because she placed much of the blame on Red and seemed hesitant to fully take responsibility for all the accusations. Some of her merchandise and partnerships were impacted also; for instance, one brand, AraCulture, canceled all of Sinder's merchandise and donated the proceeds to charity.[citation needed] Her public Discord server was temporarily locked, and she has largely become quiet on public platforms. Regardless, some creators and fans still defended her, saying she was targeted by "antis" or that the community's reaction was too extreme.[citation needed]

VShojo charity misappropriation, financial screwery and mass exodus[edit]
+ | This section requires expansion. |
In July 2025, the American VTuber agency VShojo came under fire after VTuber Ironmouse claimed the agency didn’t give more than $500,000 in donations meant for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. The situation also involved accusations that creators weren’t getting their pay, which caused a lot of public anger. What ensued was a mass-exodus of VShojo's VTuber talent, which left the company in ruins and resulted in the agency's closing. The CEO, Justin "Gunrun" Ignacio, publicly admitted that he mishandled the company’s money, including funds meant for the charity, and took blame for the agency’s failure.[45][46]
Notable VTubers[edit]
Virtually terrific[edit]
These are the VTubers whose content is mostly decent/normal enough and have relatively clean reputations:
TBA
Virtually tolerable[edit]
These are VTubers whose content and reputations are mostly clean, but whose controversies are rarely covered or brought up for a variety of reasons:
- Ironmouse
: Popular Puerto Rican VTuber, formerly with VShojo. She is known for her peculiar high-pitched voice that's caused by Common Variable Immune Deficiency
(CVID) and a severe lung infection that resulted in resulted in chronic oxygen use and vocal cord damage. Ironmouse is open about her condition and uses her platform to advocate for others with similar immune deficiencies, raising awareness and funds for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Indeed, after the VShojo charity misappropriation incident, she spearheaded an mass-exodus from VShojo, which lead to the company's demise.[46] Too bad she also comes with baggage like making bald jokes,[47] inviting the biggest incel troll
and leader of the second GamerGate movement
on her talkshow Speak of the Devil,[48] and calling YouTuber Markiplier
"a freak" for doing a "Smash or Pass" video for Pokemon (which you're not supposed to take seriously).[49]
TBA
Virtually taxing[edit]
These are the borderline case VTubers who either skirt the edge of tastelessness or are involved in few small controversies or one big controversy:
- Enna Alouette: Canadian Nijisanji Vtuber under their English branch's "Ethyria" generation that doesn't know how doxing works and is, pretty much, an attention whore & airhead. One of the few VTubers that doesn't have an indie past. In fact, she used to upload music to YouTube until her account was taken down for obvious reasons. During a collab with fellow liver Kyo Kaneko, she started saying that it would be hard to impersonate him due to his accent sounding too much like he "listen to too much Snoop Dogg"[50] and later on mentioning other black stereotypes on stream like how he's always eating a lot of chicken.[51][52] At least she did apologize over this one.[53][54][55] During her playthrough of Pokemon Sword
, she came with the brightest idea of going with a theme for her first playthrough with that theme being... depression.[56] Later during said stream, she catches a Nickit which she wanted to nickname "Mystique," until one of her edgy fans in chat told her it would be better to call it "Mistake" (she cleverly spelled it as "Mystake," as to not get any backlash for this).[57]
- Henya the Genius: Somewhat divisive ex-VShojo VTuber, who is a biracial Japanese-American. While she is far from the worst sort of VTuber, she did have a slight hubbub with in regards to her pre-VShojo avatar, as well as her previous identity getting involved in the Hogwarts Legacy clusterfuck. She has also attracted social media disdain for the "jail-bait" aesthetics of her character. Has streamed with the Nazi rabbit twice for some reason.
- Nyatasha Nyanners: American VTuber contracted with Mythic Talent. Mostly known for her past as a 4chan shitposter and one of her famous songs, called "POMFPOMFPOMF =3".[58][59][note 10] Seems to be a big fan of Urban Dictionary
and Hbomberguy,[60] and even appeared in one of the latter's videos.[61] Although one has to wonder why someone like her loves the videos of someone who's a libertarian socialist given what she and her audience are like. She's also best friends with Veibae, who's a massive ableist & shitlord.
- Veibae: American VTuber who joined Mythic Talent in 2023. Frogposter & shitlord extraordinaire. After leaving VShojo, she held her first indie stream in May 2023 and became notorious for this sentence she said near the end of her stream: "See you later… What do I call you guys now? Can I say virgin on Twitch? I feel like virgin is banned but retards is not. So see you later, retards!". This backfired on her as people didn't like her using ableist slurs.[62][63] She would later respond (and double down) saying: "I never claimed my stream to be a safe space. It is not and it never has been. I’ve streamed since 2017, get the f**k out. I’m not your therapist and I’m not going to babysit you."[64] No surprise that she eventually became best friends with 4chan's lovechild, Nyanners.

Virtually trash[edit]
These are VTubers who with little to no redeeming qualities as human beings and are usually the culprits/offending party in the big controversies.
- Aster Arcadia: Former Ninisanji male VTuber under their English branch's "ILUNA" generation who has had many sexual harassment allegations directed towards him. Several people, including VTubers and those connected to Nijisanji, have claimed that Aster behaved in a way that is considered sexual harassment. This includes making unwanted advances or acting in a manipulative manner towards female coworkers or others. Some of these claims are based on messages that were supposedly leaked or on statements shared with other content creators, like FalseEyeD.[65][66] The allegations also mention that internal information was shared with people outside the company without permission, which might be linked to the harassment claims. Those who reported these issues to management say they didn't receive a proper response or any disciplinary action. There is also concern that Nijisanji's investigation process includes looking into information leaks, which some believe could be a way to punish whistleblowers from coming forward with complaints.[67][68] On July 15, 2025, Nijisanji announced that Aster Arcadia would be “separating” from Nijisanji EN and would not resume streaming, with these sexual harassment accusations left inconclusive.[69]
- FalseEyeD: American yellow journalist DramaVTuber working for Mythic Talent who's essentially the industry's equivalent of TMZ
.[please explain]
- Filian
: Basically the female VTuber counterpart of Bam Margera
(of Jackass
fame), Filian is mainly known for using full-body tracking and her inability to stay still. She is also the founder and host of the VTuber Awards,
the industry's equivalent to the Oscars. In July 2024, she was accused for using a stolen VTuber model that was created by the artist Jingo without commercial rights for her merchandise, which would spark discussions about intellectual property in VTubing.[70][71] Her most recent scandal was the August 2025 WePlay Studios controversy, with the Ukraine-based company dropping their collaboration with her due to Filian's (and the VTuber Awards') support for the Russian VTuber community running afoul with WePlay's pro-Ukrainian stance that company adopted in February 2022, in the wake of their ongoing war with Russia.[72] She also made an offensive joke about George Floyd's death in one of her streams,[73] and used this lovely fanart parodying
the aftermath of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump's assassination attempt in Pennsylvania
in one of her TikTok vids.[74]
- Kirsche Verstahl: Indie Brownshirt Princess VTuber who likes flirting with alt-right; her name is literally German for "Steel Church".
- Nux Taku: Uninhibited male indie VTuber who appears to be severely insecure about his own lack of intellect, which makes him overcompensate by trying to exhibit his brainpower and be smarter than everybody else, like he's fucking Riddler from Batman or something. He is primarily known for the 2021 VShojo Doxxing incident (in which he proclaimed he caught a group of doxxers, only for him to put the doxxing victims in danger), edgelord humor, stale clickbaity drama-farming content, sharing pedo art as well as being a Trump-humper.
- Pipkin Pippa: Phase-Connect VTuber who regularly promotes antisemitic dogwhistles and conspiracy theories. She is also a proponent of KiwiFarms.
- Sinder: Indie VTuber known for her (along with her manager "REDACTED") Hulk Hogan-esque behind-the-scenes behavior and covert sabotage of other VTubers and character designers.
- SmugAlana: Russian-American indie VTuber who is friends with Kirsche and Pippa. She is an anti-environmentalist who likes to bash California and its wildfires.
- Twisty Amanozako: Former Nijisanji VTuber under their English branch's “Denauth” generation. In December 2024, Twisty took an indefinite break from streaming and social media.[75][76] Around that time, there were rumors and fan speculation about allegations of sexual harassment involving another Nijisanji EN VTuber, Aster Arcadia. Twisty said she had complaints about misconduct and inappropriate behavior and claimed her agency didn't investigate properly. However, in June 2025, a 7 minute, 45 second private Discord/video conversation was leaked. In that conversation, Twisty allegedly made racist and transphobic comments, including referring to an Indian person as "his kind" and criticizing a VTuber from Brave Group.[77][78] She was also reported to have said "all men are mentally ill" (including herself) and refused to apologize for identifying as a "lolicon," which is a controversial term referring to attraction to underage characters, even if they are fictional. On June 21, 2025, Anycolor officially ended Twisty Amanozako's contract. The reason given was confirmed instances of discriminatory speech, which violated her contract.[79][80]

Notes[edit]
- ↑ Those that, mostly or exclusively, stream on Twitch, prefer to be called "Virtual Streamers" since they hardly or never use YouTube in the first place.
- ↑ Not to be confused with the abbreviation for the U.S. state of Vermont or Virgina Tech
.
- ↑ There's a group of VTubers, named "VTweeters", that do nothing else than posting on Twitter for no fucking reason.
- ↑ A weeaboo is pretty much the incel version of an anime fan + that they are completely deranged from their own culture, obsessed with the "land of the rising sun", and hate the LGBTQ+ community & feminists (for some reason)...
- ↑ 推し, Japanese slang referring to a favorite member (usually of an idol group) or character. We'll get to the idol culture connection later.
- ↑ It should be noted that there are VTubers that don't do any of the aforementioned things or are even against it, but that's a very small group and they hardly get any subscribers on YouTube because of this.
- ↑ Both VTubers AND their fans seem to see this as a compliment for some weird reason.
- ↑ This title would actually have to go to a woman called Ami Yamato

The absolute audacity to sit here & continue to manipulate & gaslight is absolute insanity.
The pain & mental torment you've caused to the ones closest & most supportive of you has been devastating & I have never been so heart broken & hurt so badly for my friends... You are the fakest person I've ever had the displeasure of supporting! Reading (& hearing) of how you've really viewed me behind my back, not just through screenshots of your Man but also your very OWN messages while having to sit here & read through these bullshit lies you spin makes me want to vomit.
To claim that you didn't know a SINGLE THING & had zero awareness of what your Man was up to when everyone who's shared even a single moment with you knows that you basically operate as the same person, sharing every waking moment while loving to jump at the slightest opportunity to turn into your most slanderous self as soon as the opportunity was given, even when talking about your friends is sickening.
I have experienced your own actions without Red, in a situation where in your own screenshotted words, you express a "pressure to live up to what Lily is", and proceeded to throw one of your most loyal & supportive friends under the bus after months of continuous planning just because you consistently chose business over friends, never feeling bad for failing them.
Just to earn the bag & compete with me over a VCard collab that YOU rescheduled to be on the exact date your friend needed you to keep an important promise. You actively lied about it to them, instead blaming ME for a collab YOU rescheduled, adding me to the pool of excuses to save your ass, when you realized you were being a bad friend. Why blame me for choosing to miss an obligation YOU agreed to. On one of the most important days in that friends career?
Everything you do is out of competition through your constant need to one-up the people who are the sole reason you even have these opportunities & platforms to earn from to begin with. You're welcome btw...
You claim that "it's just business" well, in the business world, there has to be accountability & all you've done is try to shove it away & admit to nothing. In true narcissistic fashion you're only feeling sorry about yourself & your own consequences & your career & try to salvage it.
I'm sorry for everyone who looked up to you as an inspiration and I'm especially sorry for your fans.

How? How can you say you didn’t know? I showed you both my base model sketch from Nano at Weebcon. We walked on stage and performed together. You were in the group chat where I shared my sadness over Nano suddenly cancelling my model after we were so close to begin Live2D and rigging. And to now find out that just the day before I shared my sadness, this is the conversation that happened that ruined months of debut prep, planning, merch preparation. If you want to apologize to me, please do it properly, and stop hiding behind Red.

As a company deeply rooted in Ukraine, WePlay Studios has consistently shown a pro-Ukrainian position. Since February 2022, we have terminated all collaborations with individuals and entities from the russian federation and the republic of Belarus. We remain committed to working with partners who share and respect these values. Unfortunately, recent developments have prompted us to reevaluate our involvement in one particular project.
WePlay Studios is discontinuing its work on the VTuber Awards and will no longer be involved in its production. This decision follows action taken by the event’s host and founder – cooperation with russian community, which is not aligned with our values and position.
Despite this, the VTuber Awards show represents a unique and ambitious initiative within the entertainment industry, and we are proud of the creative and technical contributions our team has made over the past two years.
