Blag[edit]

What exactly is a "blag?" Also, could you stop using it in URLs? It turns the reference into a 404 error. Thanks, RoninMacbeth (talk) 14:10, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

It's a word for "blog", in reference to this xkcd comic. Christopher (talk) 14:52, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
What? LynnR (talk) 14:55, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
Ah, figured it out. I use a word replacer extension and it apparently seems to have also changed content when editing pages, not just when I view them. Disabled it, sorry. LynnR (talk) 14:57, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
It's ok. Could you indent your talk page comments? Christopher (talk) 14:58, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Stop overusing protection[edit]

You do know that blocking IPs for an hour is a thing? —ClickerClock (talk) 02:17, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

When it's clear that they're obviously coming back, as the Spain and tree octopus (the only pages I've protected) BoNs did, blocking them for an hour isn't going to do anything helpful, and I'm not going to block an IP for more than 3 days on the off chance that it changes. Go ahead and promote me if the best option in those cases was really just blocking the IP for an hour, or maybe actually look at the IPs' editing patterns on the pages I protected. LynnR (talk) 02:44, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
The BoN just made two edits on the Spain article within 6 minutes. The BoN on the Conservapedia article made three edits within 10 minutes. You have only blocked two people. Try using the block option more. —ClickerClock (talk) 08:30, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
You're right about the Spain one, I'm not sure why I didn't see that. But on the CP article, the BoN made a bunch of edits on 9/28, then came back on 10/16. LynnR (talk) 12:39, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

The pedophilia page[edit]

Stop denying psychological studies that indicate pedophilia as a disorder only referring to prepubescents. Pedophilia is not simply "attraction to a minor." Statutory rape and child molestation are two separate crimes. This doesn't mean statutory rape isn't harmful, but is not scientifically categorized as an act of pedophilia.— Unsigned, by: 138.247.99.204 / talk / contribs

@138.247.99.204, please sign your talk page comments.
This is not what the problem is, and the scientific definition is already written on the page. You are editing it to say that attraction to adolescents is biologically natural, which is false.
@LynnR There aren't a lot of specific studies that point to adults being attracted to teenagers, however it is biologically natural because anyone post-puberty is considered fertile, regardless of age. Also, many teens look like adults so the natural instinct of adults are to have some sexual attraction.

This is a pretty good explanation: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/advice/does_being_attracted_to_teenagers_make_me_a_pedophile It also points to the fact that due to adults making sex a taboo topic for teenagers, this is often what makes them feel uncomfortable. So part of it is societal conditioning.

Blocking the terrorism in Poland BoN[edit]

Why? Christopher (talk) 20:54, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

@Christopher They added that "terrorism" section to the same page twice today and once before today. Was I mistaken in awarding a ban for that? I assumed it was enough to count, since it was reverted 3 times and it was probably going to become an edit war.
It's only an edit war if the editor in question knows about reverting etc, the BoN could be new to wikis. I think they were about to write a section about terrorism in Poland (who knows if it would've been accurate and relevant, there's no reason it couldn't be) but lost their edits due to edit conflictsWikipedia with the people reverting them. Christopher (talk) 21:19, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
@Christopher Eh, maybe. It seems more like they were adding an empty section to make a point (specifically that Poland doesn't have terrorism due to its restrictive immigration laws), but maybe I'm just a pessimist.

Some of your signatures[edit]

I have an issue. Particularly your binary, hex, morse-code themed signatures take up a ton of space, have repetitive characters, and make it more unnecessarily difficult to identify you. It is disruptive (and I have a difficult time reading pages when those signatures do show up) and I think it's a good idea to remove them from your signature roulette. --It's-a me, 010011000110010101100110011101000111100101000111011100100110010101100101011011100100110101100001011100100110100101101111! 05:50, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

Nah, I can't. I know, laugh at me. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 05:58, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
I don't think nearly anybody has the time or energy to memorize the hexadecimal values of each ASCII character so they can read it, including computer programmers. I know I don't. I do know quite a bit about the inner workings of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario World due to my extensive modding of both, but otherwise I'm pretty much clueless about how console games work, so I won't laugh at you. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 06:03, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
Cool, you mod Brawl too? I have a few mods on BrawlVault, but they were created when I was a teenager. I do mainly character skins (as most people do) but I love moveset, voice, and music mods. I haven't done Super Mario World ROM hacking though, though I have played with New Super Mario Bros. Wii modding. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 19:55, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I've never finished a complete mod, though, as I tend to slowly stop doing it and then forget where I left off months later. I think I've started working on 3 or 4 at this point. I've made a few character skins and I'm working on a program that edits the non-FighterConfig BrawlEx files (if you've ever played with BEX) in a less technical manner, removing all the hexadecimal editing from the mix. I've tried doing moveset mods, but PSA is impossible to understand even with tutorials. Super Mario World has a slew of tools available, my favorite resource being SMW Central, and a great level/overworld editor called Lunar Magic. I've considered modding NSMBW but never really got around to it. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 21:29, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
I've never worked much beyond Character skins and I don't think I've used BrawlEX because I rely primarily on Riivolution for mods, and I think there are compatibility problems with SDHC cards otherwise. I sadly haven't done Super Mario World stuff, but I do know about Lunar Magic (it makes Super Mario Maker look limited if I recall). The most level editing I've done was this one stupid level in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and played with Super Mario Bros. X level editor. I don't think level editing is really my thing though. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 20:10, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Ah, yeah, I've always used Gecko since I got into Brawl modding with Project M and I think it didn't support Riivolution, at least when I first downloaded it in 2014. I actually got Super Mario Maker for Christmas and, while it's really fun and more polished than Lunar Magic, the latter is definitely far more powerful, since you can add new enemies, bosses, music, overworlds, and change the palettes and graphical effects. It has a bit of a learning curve, though, whereas with Mario Maker you can just jump right in, and since its main focus is level editing, you might not enjoy it as much as I do. Designing overworlds in it is also enjoyable, I spent at least 20 hours building and refining mine, and that's before adding the events for when levels are completed. I've played a few SMBX mods, but I never tried using the editor since I felt like Lunar Magic fulfilled all my needs on that front. On the other hand, you can't have 128 Marios (Mario? Marii?) at the same time in LM, so it's kind of a difficult decision. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 22:47, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
While I'm here, I'll just point out: no, I haven't memorised them, but they're easy to work out if you know what you're doing. Without referencing anything, I can tell you "K" is 0x4B, or 01001011. —Kazitor, pending 11:28, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Let's be honest here. Being able to manually cite your sources is not a particularly insightful exercise. Different people or organizations prefer different standards. This is a job best left to machines. As long as you do not plagiarize, and know (how to find) the necessary details, you are fine.

Since that template was overcomplicated garbage before you fixed it, I decided I'll stop manually writing templates and create a program to semi-automatically do it instead, kind of like Scratch. It'll probably end up taking more net time, but at least my templates won't require heavy revisions from you and/or other wiki experts, as with both this and {{cf}}. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 19:08, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Obviously it won't work for the more complicated stuff, but most of the templates I've made are either userboxes or text formatting things, and those should be easy enough to implement into the interface I have in mind. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 21:49, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Reply from Darthmaul[edit]

The translations are based upon the findings of Brigitte Bauer, Giuliana Fiorentino, Andrew Garrett, Kenneth Shields, Sarah R. Rose, John Hewson, Vít Bubeník, Societas Linguistica Europaea, Luca Panieri, A. M. Lubotsky, and both Kortlandt and the Leiden school (to a lesser extent). It is a reconstructed form of the Early Indo European isolating stage, though more accurately called Pre-IE, before inflections. The block function[edit]

Use it. Why are you wasting your breath to trolls? --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 15:34, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

I'm not going to block him since I imagine he's still on T-Mobile with a dynamic address, but I'll stop engaging. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 15:37, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

While I am out for a bit, can you use the troll collapse template for the conversation in the KyleTroll talk page? I am editing from mobile at the moment, too much of an arse to deal with. --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png LeftyGreenMario! 15:44, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Bre Faucheux edits[edit]

My apologies. I just thought they were note-worthy enough to keep (I did read your description of the edit, though). I'll admit that your edit did kinda feel like a bit of a whitewash, so that's why I undid it. But I do get your point and I won't undo the edit again. — Unsigned, by: Tmil96 / talk / contribs

@Tmil96 That's okay, I understand. Thanks for explaining. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 16:53, 10 February 2018 (UTC)

Purple Smith[edit]

Judging from their talk and user pages Athena appears to be the same individual as, Jenna Smith and Ice Maiden. I have no idea what's going on but the userpage style is unmistakable (purple Papyrus font, excessive personal details, and external links to nonexistent pages) ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 16:07, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

I noticed that too. And yet Purple Smith and all of her socks have made no contributions to anything except for their user pages. Most suspicious is the inclusion of an exact birth date. That's like, rather dangerous, isn't it? Regards, Cosmikdebris (talk) 16:27, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
@Cosmikdebris Are you suggesting that these accounts are attempting to subtly Dox an unknown individual? Or am I just being paranoid over nothing? ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 16:35, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
@GrammarCommie No, I'm not suggesting a doxxxing conspiracy; I just thought it was a little odd. Cosmikdebris (talk) 19:10, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
That is rather peculiar. Strangely, the socks that the page mentions are nonexistent. Also, the mention of liking RW because of linguistics is unusual, as we have few articles on that subject. For now, I'll chalk it up to them copying the userpage off of another MediaWiki site and not bothering to change it to actually fit RW and waffling on the username, but this might be worth keeping an eye on. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 21:39, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
@Spriggina I already ran them through wikipedia and all but one are blocked. ☭Comrade GC☭Ministry of Praise 21:45, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Hmmm. That they're blocked on WP already is not very encouraging, but they haven't done anything ban-worthy yet. Do you know the reason for being blocked there? þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 22:40, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

Merkel[edit]

Merkel is a neo-Nazi troll and admin of Rightpedia. That websites smears and doxes RW sysops, so recently a retaliation website was set up - Wrongpedia. I've made a coop case to ban Merkel before, but it failed. No idea why this place allows a Nazi who is cyberharassing sysops allowed to post here.Callimachus (talk) 15:07, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

You keep saying that, but you haven't offered any sort of decent evidence to prove your point, and harassing Nazis for being Nazis is still harassment in my book. þe olꝺe Ꞅƿɽyᵹᵹyna (ꞇalc) (conċꞃybs) @ 15:12, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
