David Gerard[edit]
For deleting comments from his talk page [1] [2] [3] -- Nx / talk 20:22, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Per previous LJ ruling on the precise same issue - David Gerard (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, but they were posted by someone who is here only to troll, which is what the ruling covered. - David Gerard (talk) 20:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Edit warring is tedious. Why do you want to be so tedious? WėąṣėḷőįďMethinks it is a Weasel 20:32, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- "...posted by someone who is here only to troll, which is what the ruling covered." That is blatantly false. The ruling said "delete the vile". Not just anything posted by someone you don't like. ħuman 22:28, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

- No, but they were posted by someone who is here only to troll, which is what the ruling covered. - David Gerard (talk) 20:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Suggested solution: Nx is free to preserve them himself. If he can't be bothered, they probably weren't that important - David Gerard (talk) 20:37, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- The point is that things here are done by discussion and consensus. The collective agreement is that this is the best way things are handled. You're currently exacerbating a situation by going against the advice and wishes of a fairly sizeable group. Users were given the right to revert anything that was obviously malicious, if people are disagreeing that it was obviously malicious then it isn't obviously malicious. You were not given the right to strip out talk comments because you didn't like the user that posted them. d hominem 20:45, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- I will be highly surprised if anything is accomplished here. Gerard continuously flouts the rules and does it with a cavalier disregard. Its time matters were discussed more seriously and for his eventual exclusion from the project by means of ostracisation. 86.40.104.238 (talk) 20:48, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, because the community's efforts to get rid of anyone "by means of ostracism" so far have been sooo successful...--ZooGuard (talk) 20:54, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- The final word there was: "obviously vile comments can be deleted by anyone. Others leave up to the person who's talk page it is. Article talk pages: delete the vile; ignore the trivial". I don't see any inherent issue in user talk pages being covered by that, since anyone with a message that's important can hit the saloon bar and have their comments stick - assuming it's not just a repetitive stream of junk. How about the concept that user talk pages are pretty much considered to be like our houses? i.e. we can manage them as we wish, but talk pages and the article talk pages (and other common area) should be treated more carefully? Concernedresident omg!!! ponies!!! 21:13, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- This doesn't really seem the right place to discuss that. Better at the Community Standards page. WėąṣėḷőįďMethinks it is a Weasel 21:29, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- That would be a huge change to policy we have had since day one - user page is their "castle", user talk page is community property - with the one exception we now sort-of have of deleting the "obviously malicious or vile". ħuman 22:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Where can I read RationalWiki "policies"? Maybe you mean the "Community Standards"? It appears that DG didn't follow that ideal [4], but if you are going to take away user rights for these sorts of things, I think you should first write the rules for bureaucrats and sysops, including the "punishments". ~ Lumenos (talk) (other talk pages: LI1, LI2, WP) 21:36, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

86 and Nx have a good point here, and DG is only being obfuscative in response, indeed, interpreting the LJ "decision" in his own special way. Thoughts? ħuman 07:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps DG is following in your footsteps when you "interpreted" your fellow LJ in the "Case Closed" section. Human wrote, "So the LJ returns a decision. As per Toastie on the talk page, 'obviously vile comments can be deleted by anyone. Others leave up to the person who's talk page it is. Article talk pages: delete the vile; ignore the trivial.' The Local Jumpsuits have spoken." But there is a post there that reads "I remove all MC posts as it is and seems to be working just fine. Ace i9". Maybe DG thinks that means he should do the same for anyone he considers to be a troll. ~ Lumenos (talk) (other talk pages: LI1, LI2, WP) 21:36, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- The problem with Gerard is that he is a parasite sucking the lifeblood and everything that is good right out of Rationalwiki. He constantly breaks the rules and does so with a cavalier disregard. He ought to be punished. 86.40.200.2 (talk) 21:47, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- What punishment would be appropriate? ~ Lumenos (talk) (other talk pages: LI1, LI2, WP) 22:07, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sweet. David, please to bend over now. And drop 'em. ħuman 06:29, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- One of the examples Nx posted in the OP was Earthlands comments being smalled. Apparently Human wrote, "All of Earthland's comments on talk pages that are not welcome may be triple-smalled. So may any of yours. Oops, did you read this? Then this applies to you as well. ħuman 12:32, 8 June 2010 (UTC)" ~ Lumenos (talk) (other talk pages: LI1, LI2, WP) 13:38, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- I should probably work to create a safe space for the trolls while going off on reversion sprees of anyone I argue with, always marked of course as minor edits. Because safety for blatant trolls is safety for reversion sprees scientifically indistinguishable from butthurt. Hey, it's another RationalWiki Insight! - David Gerard (talk) 14:08, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

- The "problems" here are that you spent a few months so ragingly butthurt that you couldn't block MC that you decided to promote trolling as hard as you could. That is, you have admitted that you deliberately exacerbated the problems you have now insisted on bringing to all attention. This strongly suggests the "problems" you are bringing to community attention are you being clueless. - His edit comments of reversion over the past several months, particularly in the leadup to his LJ case. In any case, the solution to the actual problem presented in the above section remains: Nx, stop deliberately being a fuckwit - David Gerard (talk) 22:02, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

You were put in the vandal bin by Gooniepunk2010 and the reason given was: "Feeding the Troll: He can get fucked!". While we hope you had fun, we had to do something, so you can only make one edit every 30 minutes now. If this is a mistake or you have turned a new leaf please alert any sysops. You will be able to edit again in 28 minutes. The block ID is #613. Please include this in any queries. '

So use your next half-hourly edit to edit the user page as MarcusCicero to the version you want and that'll prove it's the way you want it. Until then, you're long on talk and short on evidence - David Gerard (talk) 12:52, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Remember:
Hi, This is John's brother. I know he has been using this account for a variety of reasons, none of them productive for his troublesome history of mental health problems. For obvious reasons I don't want to go into details about this but suffice to say my mother and father have decided to withdraw his access from the internet for the duration of his most recent treatment process. I apologise on my brothers behalf for any problems he may have caused this website during his period of instability. As you know, his posts have been of a bizarre quality but that is merely a reflection of his real world mental anguishes. MarcusCicero (talk) 23:09, 11 July 2009 (UTC) |

I was going on to his talk page to deliver a mortal blow to his authority, but realised the page was protected and thus I had no editing rights there. not only has RA been deprived of the opportunity to learn from his own failings as a consequence of gentle prodding from yours truly, RA has also managed to substantiate the charge of authoritarianism so justly laid down on his door. 86.40.203.66 (talk) 16:59, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Violation of Site Policy by (You guessed it) David Gerard[edit]
David Gerard continuously bans my IP accounts and says 'post with your unblocked account'. Does this now mean that IPs are not allowed to post if they possess an unbanned full account?
I would appreciate clarification in this matter, and would also like to know why Gerard still continues, even after relentless reminders that he is not above the law, continues to flout the rules of this site with such cavalier regard.
Yours etc. MarcusCicero (talk) 14:53, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- MC, how do I say this nicely? You have a perfectly good account, which it would appear you are capable of using. If you're going to post from a myriad IP address, then you could be mistaken for a troll and treated as such. I think you'll also find that the bans are 'nuisance' block of a few hours. Or at worst, the vandal bin. --PsyGremlinParla! 15:07, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you're in the vandal bin - which you are, so that you may post once half-an-hour thoughtfully until you demonstrate you can post like someone who isn't a frothing troll - then you really shouldn't be trying to evade it. Go on. Show us the power of quality posting. I know you can do it - David Gerard (talk) 15:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- In other words Gerard is uber trolling. He is deliberately and maliciously targeting me in order to garner an emotional response, and hence make this website a less fun place to be in. He is so full of shit its beyond humour.
- Besides, this is irrelevant. Gerard is breaking the site rules and you lot are letting him get away with it. Again. I'm struggling to understand why. Its clear there is a groundswell of discontent against Gerard, I don't understand why this popular animosity doesn't translate itself into persecution. i should know. I've been getting a lot of emails from disaffected members of this site concerning Gerard. Including one urging me to continue my campaign against him.
- You really have no clue what you're up against here, Gerard. MarcusCicero (talk) 16:28, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- Y'know, you'd probably do better if you showed evidence you weren't an argument in favour of fascism - David Gerard (talk) 17:02, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- No fair!! Someone stop him from trolling the troll!! On a related note, Gerard is right. If we're only fascist against MC, I say go for it. That guy's a tool. Quarubeagle - You can't explain that! 17:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

- So like.. what drives someone to troll? I mean, I'd just get bored. It takes a lot of drive to have so much passion for being an utter douche. I have to say, I'm actually impressed. My psychology training makes me want to start a study to find out just what motivates utter fuckwits like this. It's really quite amazing. I don't know.. Maybe I just have ADHD, but I'd rather go outside. Meet people. Try to be a more balanced individual. To each their own, I suppose. Quarubeagle - You can't explain that! 16:47, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

To Clarify[edit]
- I'm not going to respond to the trolling and hateful comments above. Gerard has tacitly admitted his intention here - to harass me and provoke these kinds of complaints. He obviously hopes that since I am such a divisive figure who seems to alienate people, the ignorant masses (Quaru is a fine representation of this mass idiocy that 19th century Liberals warned about with the oncoming of the mass franchise) will overlook this breach of protocol and ethics and let him away with it. His ambition? To destroy Rationalwiki and everything it stands for, evidently. He is admitting, in many ways, that his trolling is a manifestation of fascism, which he feels is justified by my very existance.
- I'll not hold my breath. Rationalwiki has proven time and time again that it is impotent in the face of troublemakers of his kind. 86.40.106.235 (talk) 07:56, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

- And are we allowed to move MC's posts to a new, sub-part of our talk page? I thought that was allowed under "archiving". Quarubeagle - You can't explain that! 12:56, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- This one's a grey area. I did it to Earthland and nobody minded. EL did it to me and got jumped on. Personally I feel that archiving away junk should be allowed but I don't make the rules. Jack Hughes (talk) 13:00, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Community_Standards#Talk_pages - the new proposals clear this up a bit. With myself and EL it's still a bit grey but when MC is involved I think the situation is clear. Jack Hughes (talk) 13:07, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Let me be clear: I am not defending or supporting MarcusCicero. I am defending and supporting the principles of this wiki. Admittedly, I was absent for whatever he did this time to get everyone angry again, but I was here for most of his antics. He's a troll, but he doesn't cause much harm now. Crundy[edit]
His talk page is protected. He's also full of shit as he promised never to come back. Why can't he just man up and get over the fucking pantomine without making a massive drama about everything? For somebody who takes such pride in his IQ *snigger*, its really fucking pathetic how stupid he can be. 86.40.99.53 (talk) 20:18, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know anything about him promising not to come back. He knows he's always welcome and well-liked by people on this site who matter. What I do know is that he's in the touch with those he wants to be in touch with and that his schedule is preventing him from spending much time on RW (and policing his talk page), which I would imagine was his reason for protecting it. Hope this helps, MC. ÑR/Señor Admin/¡hablen ustedes! 20:45, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Wait. Didn't you promise never to come back?

My glorious run has ended. This is not a case of 'leaving and never coming back', but more a case of 'burn out'. I created a personality on the internet so radically different from the real life version that I've forgotten even what trolls remorse feels like.. (You can thank Refugee over on RWW for providing the impetus) My highlights on RW:
One regret: Stooping to do the mental illness stunt. That was a terrible miscalculation. Adios RW! I may pop in from time to time, but at least now you'll know for sure than I'm a fully fledged troll! MarcusCicero 19:48, 5 December 2009 (UTC) |
