地下室论证拉丁语作argumentum ad cellarium，意指某人应离开父母的地下室^{[note 1]}。这是一种非形式逻辑谬误且是人身攻击，用于在网上辩论与评论中指摘他人。该论证指责某人或其论点的方法是假定其人缺失社会所需的社交与生存技能，因而只好住在父母的地下室，隐含义可拓展为论者只是父母社会关系的「备胎」。

由于地下室有额外的贬斥意味（表示不仅依赖且躬顺／被动），通常该论点采用地下室。但亦有变体如要求找到工作、恋人、或性经历（最后一条当然暗指失能）。此外……

嘲弄某人（真实或假称）住在父母的地下室对残疾人不公平。由于各种问题，如就业歧视、对残疾成人服务不到位、且有时付给残疾人低于最低工资合法^[3]，残疾人可能无法自力更生。

还有其他偏见存焉。Erica Legalisse 指出批评住地下室者常有阶级基调，因为穷人更可能住在父母的地下室；且多反映对受教育程度低者的偏误^[4]。当然受教育程度低确是质疑某人说法的理由，可以礼貌地纠正，但这不是侮辱嘲讽的理由。由于地下室常见于郊区或小镇而非大城市，这亦可反映倾向都市而轻视不甚高级地域的偏误，或远离纽约旧金山之什的美国中部／内陆州。

此外亦有仇外和美国中心元素。诸多亚洲国家如印度、中国以累世定居为主流，与父母同居更被接受，子女成年不需要离家。主要是在西方国家尤其美国、加拿大，子女毕业时才要靠自己求职卜居。

最后，受到这一侮辱的主要是男性，女性通常得到豁免，可以与父母同居。
