Ann Bressington is a self-described "Truther MP"[1] who was an independent member of the upper house of the South Australian parliament from 2006 to 2014.[2] She was originally elected on the "No Pokies" ticket alongside high-profile anti-gambling campaigner Nick Xenophon. Her election was unexpected as it was thought unlikely that Nick Xenophon's ticket would receive enough votes to elect both of them. Xenophon and Bressington had a falling out shortly after her election. Bressington had been the founder and CEO of a drug rehabilitation centre prior to entering politics. She served a single 8-year term and did not contest the 2014 election.

Bressington believes in the New World Order, Agenda 21 and chemtrails, and is a proponent of the anti-fluoride and anti-vaccination movements, as well as the One People's Public Trust.[3] She funded Christopher Monckton's tour to Australia in 2013.[4]

In 2013 she attracted controversy by posting a "Wanted" poster on her Facebook page for Tanya Plibersek, Australia's health minister at the time, for "poisoning 22.9 million Australians with the toxic industrial waste fluoride". When journalists asked Bressington for a comment regarding the poster, she did not respond but posted their questions - and phone numbers - on her Facebook page, along with the original wanted poster. Comments by her supporters suggesting that Plibersek be "lynched" were allowed to remain on the page.[5]
