Lenski sweepstake winner![edit]
I think we can safely declare User:Arcan to be the winner of the sweepstakes. Congratulations, have a goat. That was so sadly, grimly predictable. For extra credit, do you reckon Assfly just can't see how rude and incompetent he is, or is he just a self-serving liar? --81.187.75.69 11:45, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Gotta hand it to Schlafly - even if Lenski obliges his idiotic request for low-level data, he can move on to calling the paper itself into question based on the short-than-average review time. What's conveniently left out, of course, is that it's the quality of the review, and not the time it took, that gives it credibility. --SpinyNorman 12:23, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- There are several reasons peer-review can take different lengths of time between submission and publication. First of all it depends on how fast the reviewers work, they are not full-time workers so their own schedules might delay the review. Secondly there may be points that needed clarification, illustrations or tables might need to be amended or the papers themselves copy-edited, this might involve some to-ing and fro-ing which can introduce delays. Thirdly, the publication itself has deadlines so a paper that just misses the deadline can be delayed by a month waiting for the next issue. Fourthly the editor may decide to delay publication in the interests of balancing the content. Finally, if as an editor you have something as important as Lenski's paper sitting on your desk then you probably want to get it out as soon as possible and not let it wait it's turn with all the other papers that are ready for publication. Andy is totally clueless about scientific publishing. GenghisGum disease 12:41, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
Off topic here, but I was reading some old Peanuts comics strips today (so much pure genius in the older ones), and I came across something that reminded me so much of Andy:
- Charlie Brown [at Lucy's Psychiatric help booth]: Before we begin, I'd like to ask you something...What are your credentials?
- Lucy (aka Andy): I know everything.
- Charlie Brown: Those are good credentials!
That really does seem to be Andy's attitude.
Someone really needs to tell him "Andy, the internet is laughing at you." DickTurpis 13:50, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Well, the internet does have a well known liberal bias. That's wchy with the help of Ed, Andy is starting Conservanet, using the ultra-reliable transport of prayer. Buy your USB Jesus figurine and the driver will be revealed to your computer by almighty god. --81.187.75.69 14:10, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
Since you brought up the "comics that remind you of Andy" issue: This "Ozy and Millie" strip almost looks like a prophecy. --Sid 14:28, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Excellent find, Sid. Think we could get permission to reproduce it on Andy's article? ħuman 14:42, 20 June 2008 (EDT) (edit: I wrote and asked permission)
- Wow, following it regularly, it's amazing that Dana's art changed that much over the years. But there it is. --Kels 00:13, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- The real irony is that Andy's going off about being "close minded" and yet he's the one who can't listen to a well-reasoned scientific argument and change his mind. No, he's got to assume that the data's not been published, which is tangential to the real point that E. coli evolved to eat citrate and didn't the second time, arguably a case of microevolution which doesn't bother most modern-IDers. Sterilesnore! 14:36, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- And it's funny, too, to make the ID argument for them - E coli could already metabolize it, it just couldn't get it across the cell wall. Arguably, the transport mechanism got broken at some point in the past, and this mutation just fixes the damage. In other words, no new information that the Designer didn't put there "in the beginning". ħuman 14:41, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yaaay! Now I've got three pointzes and a goat! Just to let everyone know, I will take very good care of it. Woohoo! --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 15:03, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

- There's only so many times you can respond to perfectly reasonable arguments with stupid misdirections without beginning to appear ridiculous even to yourself. "It's unscientific for others to repeat as true...", "I'm 95% certain of your..." Andy doesn't argue, so can't be beaten. All you need to is wait until he hits the hot button topics to piss off all the saner sysops as with Fox, DanH, etc. and all he'll have left is an echo chamber of insanity. --81.187.75.69 16:18, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
Claim[edit]
I claim the prize, I called Monday June 23. Lenski ran about ten hours later than I predicted, but he probably proofread his total pwnage of teh assfly all afternoon and evening before hitting "send". Either that, or it took Schafly a few hours to post it. ħuman 01:00, 24 June 2008 (EDT)
General Comments[edit]
CP is looking really quite mental again at the moment. I love it when they do that in time for the weekend. Who says they aren't considerate? RedDog 11:48, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- This morning I have either gotten out of bed on the wrong side, or I have turned a corner in my obsession with CP. Andy's disgraceful beahviour over 'The Lenski Affair' has this morning gone too far and I actually feel sick to my stomach. Having been heavily involved in the Hollywood breast cancer debate - where Andy's data was of course non-existant, I'm thrilled to see Murray bring that up, despite the fact that Andy will of course ignore it. But overall I would have to say that some switch appears to have been thrown, and I now feel dirty about even spending any time around his ludicrous site, as he's now actually out there God-bothering and slandering decent scientists, who have to put up with this shit. The mans stupidity makes me feel ill, and it's clear that 'taking the debate to him' hasn't had any effect - his head is as stuck in the sand as it was a year ago. Haven't we achieved anything? It seems not. I don't know if I have any energy left to go on. DogP 12:35, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- I kind of agree there is no point debating him. But he is in his own little web based reality with all the rope he wants with which he hangs himself daily for our amusement. When he makes him self look so amazingly stupid parody becomes impossible - and debate unnecersary. At least I hope... By the way I e-mailed Lenski pointing out who Andy is and what he represents using the hatchet job he has done on Dawkins as an example. He may already be aware but I just thought it would be polite to let him know. RedDog 12:51, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- But the aim, DogP, was never to have any effect on Aschlafly. With his upbringing, that is beyond the scope of a small site like this. The aim, as far as I'm aware, was to have an effect on the seriousness with which Conservapedia is regarded. A case in point is the 'The Lenski Affair'. Along with other sites and blogs, RW has drawn attention to the unreasonableness, ignorance, disrespect and fear that has been so evident. Even many within CP, normally such staunch supporters, seem to be having a difficult time with this as evidenced by the paucity of numbers (5?) who signed up to his second letter.
- IMVHO, this affair has done yet more damage to CP and possibly further afield. Other Creationists have been much wiser in the handling of it, either by being snarky or by contesting the significance of Lenski's conclusions - not by contesting the data itself. This "crusade" has made Aschlafly and by extension CP look quite ridiculous. I really feel for PJR, probably the most knowledgeable Creationist there, who explicitly warned Aschlafly not to do exactly what he ended up doing. Aschlalfy should be able to recognise good counsel when he sees it. Ajkgordon 12:58, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- DP, I confess to having had similar thoughts and feelings and I guess DanH has to. Andy has driven away many useful editors over the last few months, i.e. Iduan, HelpJazz, Azi. Even his pet homeskollar sysops Sharon, Deborah and Bethany seem to have given up on him. In fact many sysops now only act as thugs, beating up passing proles. Other than contributions from sysop wannabees Deborah and Burglar there is little new content apart from Ken's pathetic excrement. GenghisGum disease 13:01, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Andy makes me feel queasy too. I think it started when I realized he will take any little thing used to challenge him in any way and piss all over that thing repeatedly until it becomes a sort of a sodden slogan for him to wave around. I remember precisely when I realized he had this sort of sick echoholia-incontinence , but I won't name that moment here as he obviously reads this site with great interest and I'm afraid he start up again. He is a lowbrow tool and pathological liar. I feel badly for Lenski as the latest target of his stream of urine thinly disguised as debate. I feel sickened by the editors who contribute to the site and help him with his smear campaign. What sort of person do you have to be to be a toady to such a little shit as Andy? Jesus, the humanity . . . 13:31, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- I think that some people have genuinely tried to dilute the wackiness at CP and have edited sincerely to that end. Fox would be a good example and PJR too. I tried in a very limited way but without success. You see, there are children at stake here. If it was just Aschlafly, a Petty Officer (rtd) and a Moonie, no-one would bother them. Ajkgordon 13:37, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

(undent)
It'll be interesting to look back a year or two from now and see if June 2008 marked the turning point where CP when from a laughable, biased but growing platform for uber-conservative expression, to a shrinking collection of right-wingnuts spouting material so offensive even mainstream conservatives disassociate themselves from it. Using PJR as my barometer, there's now pushback from the fundie-but-fair crowd regading Lenski, the nonsense in the Obama article about his name and being a Christian, and the way sysops like JoaquinM ignore the collaborative process and plow their pet content over anything contributed by others. I wondered if CP would get hijacked from it's homeschool-driven roots to the point where newbies will be too frustrated to contribute, and even the true believers will be too embarrassed to continue to associate themselves with content that is more suited to the "God hates fags" crowd. After the developments this week, I'm starting to thing we're there and just don't realize it yet. --SpinyNorman 13:48, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- We should try and keep tabs on who is actually contributing over there in terms of articles, not yammering on the talk pages and see if it falls off or some kind of pattern emerges. So far I've got Bert and his beloved KAL007, Conservative with whatever he's up to, Bugler, Deborah still on the redirect binge, Jessica quietly rebuilding the Empire of the Sun, Learn Together... and that's just about it. --PsygremlinWhut? 14:12, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- I'd exclude Deborah and anyone else who's just gaming their stats by creating stubs and redirects. If you look at actual, significant content creation, it's a very short list. --SpinyNorman 14:30, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Per DogP's comment, I thought it best to relate the story of how I got here. CP is disgusting and infuriating, but its less inflammatory articles are also insidious. This is why we "fight." It may not have an effect on the people there (though I do believe it does affect, however slightly, some of the less indoctrinated), but it does have, and already has had, an effect on those who might possibly be fooled into thinking CP has any shred of credibility. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 16:10, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

I was just about to WIGO Ken's viral marketing whackiness! --Edgerunner76Save me Jebus! 13:02, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Sorry about that, I just happened to be around... :P If you got better snark, feel free to replace my more generic comment, though.
- Also, I can't help but wonder what made Ken think that viral marketing for an encyclopedia is a great idea. Or let me rephrase that: What made him think that viral marketing for Conservapedia is a good idea? Outside of a narrow group of YEC gun-nuts, nobody seems to take CP seriously. Making more people aware of its presence is not going to improve that. On the contrary, it will simply make more people aware of the idiocy. ...not that I mind ;) --Sid 13:31, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yeah any Conservapedian viral marketing campaign that succeeds is going to bring a wave of vandals and parodists to the site. Unfortunately for lulz, Ken has slim chance of succeeding doing something like that on purpose -- accidentally, though, that's another matter. So do you enjoy your libel and slander you vandal slime? TerryH 01:15, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yes we do thanks for asking. I personally like slipping in minor comments that go unnoticed happy snark hunting. 3.14159 01:22, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- Care to expand on that comment TH? 121.218.202.99 01:29, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- I don't suppose there's any chance this is the real TerryH? Can't be. I think these are the hours he's selling crack to 6th graders. Oops. More libel. Just put it on my account. DickTurpis 01:30, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- Morning Terry. Good to see you're full of Christian cheer again. Care to mention who you're directing you bile against this time, or worried that it might by libellous. On that subject, you might want to tell your Fuhrer to steady on a bit when it comes to Lenski and Obama... the words "thin ice" and "libel" come to mind. Of course, that assumes that anybody except his circlejerk of goons cares about what rubbish he spouts. Now you have a nice day, y'hear. --PsygremlinWhut? 01:33, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

I'm guessing the slackjawed asshole just doesn't know the difference). Of course, I'm not fully convinced this is the real Terry "fuckwit" H, but still. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 01:38, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

- Anybody have a sock that wants to ask on CP (preferably on Andy's talkpage) why TerryH is posting here. I'd get my sock to do it, but Deborah is busy (mis)redirecting at the moment. --PsygremlinWhut? 01:51, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- The important question is if not TerryH than who? There are really only three option someone from CP in which case when TerryH finds out he is going to be more pissed than when he imagined he was called a liar and ban them. Someone from here in which case they are bored trolling their own site which is stupid. Or the final alternative which is someone who has studied the CP phenomenum as much as we have which implies they are or were once a member of RW or CP and so either they go back into the first two cases or they are pissed off at us. I say we feed the troll and see what happens. 3.14159 02:00, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
I am reaching back into my memory but I swear that TerryH admitted to signing up two accounts on here in the SDG. tmtoulouse pester 02:05, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

Sir, you just called me a vandal slime with regard to libel and slander.
You had better do one of three things:
- Provide a citation for your allegation that I am commiting libel and slander and negligence and unlawful restraining. If you try to do this make sure it doesn't contradict anything I think.
- Retract your last comment and apologize with candy and flowers.
- Prepare to face banhammering for hate crimes against the mob.

The Hoover Dam, built across the Colorado River between Nevada and Arizona, was at its opening in 1935, the largest concrete structurein the world, and its hydro-electric power station was the world's largest single producer of electricity. The dam impounds Lake Mead.

The following is a paid advertisement, and does not represent the views of Rationalwiki[edit]
The "powers that be" would like you to believe that Edward Poor is the biggest idiot at Conservapedia. Let's look at what some of the elitists have said about this loathsome person. Human, the most active editor on the site, would like you top believe that "Ed is definitely the biggest 'idiot' there..." While Trent Toulouse (French, isn't it?) the founder and dictator of this site, who says "Ed Poor is too stupid to even get to the point of making dumb arguments", has also admitted "Ken...will win this..."
What do the facts say? While this was being said about Ed Poor, he in fact made this quite sane and useful edit, actually making a marked and noticeable improvement to one of Conservapedia's worst articles. What was Conservative doing while, for perhaps the first time ever, an improvement was being made by a senior sysop? He was creating this utterly childish drivel.
What do we know about Conservative? This alleged 46 year old man has been described as having "the hallmark of a 13 year old," of being a "village idiot who mistakenly thinks the village is laughing with him rather than at him," who "OWNS the title." He "continually shows that he lacks even a gradeschooler's grasp of science, history, or even basic English." Clearly only one conclusion can be drawn: Conservative is the biggest idiot on Conservapedia.

Allow me to remind you and keep in mind the person in question brags about these achievements, and supposedly had years of experience at Wikipedia, THE encyclopedia:

- What's the real reason so called "NightFlare" opposes Ken DeMyer as Idiot-King of Conservapedia?
- Ken is often mocked for his notorious tendency to need dozens of edits to make simple additions and changes to Conservapedia. Maybe NightFlare is concerned that his history of similar problems will be exposed. Look at these edits NightFlare made just last month to this very page. 10 edits to add one simple paragraph. Maybe NightFlare is concerned about unflattering comparisons to Mr. DeMyer. What else do these two have in common? An unhealthy obsession with homosexuality? The mentality of a 12 year old Autistic child? How long will it be before we receive notices from NightFlare that he has sent us a Very Important Email?
- NightFlare: can't be trusted. Why should any of us listen to his opinions?

- This fall the main course will be United States history. Is there a textbook free from liberal bias? Perhaps we should write one here over the summer.
Suggestions are welcome at the U.S. History Textbook Project.
So, Andy et al can write a textbook in a few months? I know that the US doesn't have the thousand years plus of (white) history that European countries have, but isn't that a tad ambitious. I wouldn't like to write a history of the past twelve months in my spare time in less than a couple of months. AKj: why don't you offer them a hand? ContribsTalk 12:53, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

- It really is depressing to read what Assfly is teaching to real, actual children. His chapter on his holiness, saint ronnie leaves me wondering whether to laugh or cry. I mean seriously, he really actually seems to believe that the stupid strategic defence initiative idea that somehow inspired the development of the patriot missile, despite the fact this "new" missile defence system had been trialled and adopted well before Reagan even became president, let alone begun the star wars program.
- He also seriously seems to believe there is some plausible causal chain between Reagan saying "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" and the Berlin wall actually being torn down. His exact phrasing is "...he world heard it, and within a few years the wall was miraculously torn down." It seems he is imagining some sort of bizarre Captain Picard type occurrence here, Saint Ronnie says make it so and almighty God makes it happen. Perestroika? Glasnost? Just fusty old words, who needs 'em?
- It'd all be hilarious if he wasn't actually in a position of power and responsibility over the education of others. The utter shallowness of the whole "American history" course is laughable. Nowhere does he even begin to cover the motivation behind events, and even the descriptions of the events themselves are garbled. I'm sure homeschooling is fine if the teachers don't get too big for their boots and attempt to teach entirely from their own knowledge, rather than taking their cues from professionally prepared course materials. This just shows how hideously wrong it can go if this advice is ignored. --81.187.75.69 22:42, 21 June 2008 (EDT)
- Wow, that Reagan "lecture" reads like the crappy notes of a third grader listening to every Rush Limbaugh show that ever mentioned the Saint. Every event is twisted with horrible partisan skew. Hell, I know I have my biases and all, but I would never produce such tripe to advance my "agenda". ħuman 00:38, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

This conversation is pretty ridiculous: "For me, part of what I look into is what do the texts of the religion say, in this case the Bible and the Koran, with the Koran also having follow up material compiled in the same time period that is revered by Islam as well. I've found it's not a coincidence that extremism is common to Islam as it is much easier to follow based on the writings themselves." The thing that surprised me with this was the length of time he held the grudge before acting on it. If you look at this you'll see his list of grievances about anti-mormonism on the site. Chasing links, its about a debate article that got deleted (the "are mormons christian" (note that "are catholics christian" is an active debate right now) and a bunch of edits in spring of 2007. Maybe he was hoping that Kenny would leave before then because much of the edits are Ken's doing. Chances are it was Ultimatehero that finally broke the camel's back with this. I'm surprised this came as a surprise to Crockie though. Learntogether is deciding who is a christian and who is not and PJR and Andy are willing to make statements that say "nope, that person isn't christian" as well. At some point, if you don't believe exactly what they believe you are likely to be called "not a christian" too. --Shagie 02:35, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
- Does anyone else find the wording of Croc's goodbye suspect? Considering its striking parallels with Dan's, I wonder if it's actually sincere. Maybe I'm just inherently untrusting of CP sysops, but I took the similar language to mean it was a spoof. If it is a spoof, it's certainly an unkind one (to say the least), but if it's genuine, I actually feel bad for Croc, and I never thought I'd actually type that. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 02:48, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
- The timing and similarities is likely not coincidence and I don't believe its a spoof. I hope that Crockie has the fortitude to stand up for his beliefs when Andy comes begging and actually get Ken to apologize for past actions (in one edit? without weasel words? without declaring victory and locking his talk page?). I doubt Andy has the backbone to do that beyond the begging though. I am going to point to a section of my favorite article though...
You are at a party, and you get bored. You say "This isn't doing it for me anymore. I'd rather be someplace else. I'd rather be home asleep. The people I wanted to talk to aren't here." Whatever. The party fails to meet some threshold of interest. And then a really remarkable thing happens: You don't leave. You make a decision "I don't like this." If you were in a bookstore and you said "I'm done," you'd walk out. If you were in a coffee shop and said "This is boring," you'd walk out.
You're sitting at a party, you decide "I don't like this; I don't want to be here." And then you don't leave. That kind of social stickiness is what Bion is talking about.
And then, another really remarkable thing happens. Twenty minutes later, one person stands up and gets their coat, and what happens? Suddenly everyone is getting their coats on, all at the same time. Which means that everyone had decided that the party was not for them, and no one had done anything about it, until finally this triggering event let the air out of the group, and everyone kind of felt okay about leaving.
This effect is so steady it's sometimes called the paradox of groups. It's obvious that there are no groups without members. But what's less obvious is that there are no members without a group. Because what would you be a member of?
- Dan leaving likely gave enough trigger for Crock to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw others (a fight between PJR and Andy or where PJR calls out Kookie and Learn on bullying and one side or the other walks off in a huff? Andy gets a call from some lawyers and tells Jockin not to upload anything more unless it really is fair use? Bohdan realizes that CP is going to be what Andy makes it to be that day and nothing he can say/do will change that into an encyclopedia) --Shagie 03:05, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
- Additionally, it will be very interesting to see who comes to Croc's wikifuneral to pay their respects, considering Dan only got Bohdan. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 02:56, 22 June 2008 (EDT)
I dont feel, nor would feel, one spine-shiver of sorry for any of those sysops. As the good doctor used to say "You buy the ticket, you take the ride". My big disappointment in all this is Our Friend Hendricks. It's one thing to exist on the periphery, somehow, even spending more time on RW than CP at times, but to sit by idly while the "project" you are an admin on.... goes further and further into "wrong" - not that we are even right, but they are obviously wrong - speaks to an ugly conflict of character. And I think of Henrietta (Bohdan) as a friend. Bohdan, it may be time to fly your true colors. PS, the Flood happened about 3 MYA +/- my memory, according the the History Channel. WTH, Croco is gone? Huh, can't say I'm overly sad - after all, he's the idiot who came up with his own Commandments like "If you see sysop abuse, look away". However, on a certain level, I can understand his reasoning: CP's definition of who counts as "Christian" is even weirder than CP's definition of who counts as "conservative". And we all know how insulting it is to have Andy or some other idiot insisting that we are X or aren't Y just because it suits his view ("Liberal = Atheist = Evolutionist = Evil", anybody?). So while I won't miss him, I can still relate in a way. --Sid 07:23, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

Honestly, I wonder if PJR's testing the insanity level here. Despite his bull-headed refusal to take fact into account on YEC-ism, he does seem to pride himself on being a reasonable man, and he's just watched two sysops leave as a result of Andy's unreasonableness and that of others. It may be this is him testing the waters to see if things have actually gotten intolerable enough to him to think of moving on as well. In the past little while he hasn't been treated very well over there, and he's been treated to lots of examples of ideological inflexibility and tests, which doesn't look good at all. Which all makes me wonder if he's on the edge of finally realizing what a poisonous bunch he's allied himself with, so he's conducting some tests of his own. This is only speculation, but what are the chances the scales might be falling from his eyes with regard to his involvement with this vile bunch? --Kels 16:48, 22 June 2008 (EDT)

- I'll agree with both points, 5thH: It's Sunday, and we've been running around with the "The End Is Nigh!" signs for quite a while. However, you can't (or shouldn't) ignore the build-up: Dan resigned this week, Croco resigned this weekend, Ed attempts Damage Control while PJR openly disagrees with Croco and Andy ("LDS" and "Catholic views on creationism"). And when it comes to music/lyrics, interpretation is everything. What Billy Joel song was it, Only the Good Die Young? (Come on, Virginia! /// What's her name? - Yes, although it depends on context. CofE can be simply an abbreviation often put on forms or whatever. In spoken conversation, then yes, the abbreviation can indicate cultural affiliation rather than a faith. - Looks like PJR is in danger of breaching the 90/10 rule not to mention talk pollution. It kind of reads like he has really had enough. "Pressing Issues" Calling...[edit]
Well, it's not surprising that Andy can't just admit to being wrong, even when being pwned by a meticulous sysop like PJR. You know you've beaten him in an argument, though, when he suddenly realizes that he has pressing issues that require his attention, so he has no more time to waste on this - case closed. Great job, Philip. --SpinyNorman 11:37, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- Yes, never mind your well referenced argument, it's true because I say it is. Now shut up and move on. RedDog 11:48, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- Actually that is kind of throwing the old gauntlet down to PJR isn't it? I wonder if he will accept his 'put down'. Sadly knowing PJR I think he probably will. Andy has pretty much said that he is refusing reasoned argument and pushing a POV and if anyone doesn't like it, it's too bad. RedDog 11:52, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

- It seems like PJR has gotten less & less patient with the usual CP bullshit lately. My take on it is that he puts a tremendous amount of time & energy into his posts, whether one agrees with them or not, and that credibility & professionalism are important to him. If he's going t take the time to make a point he believes in and backs it up, only to have someone (even Andy) just dismiss it with their POV, then I think he'll soon be looking for other outlets. --SpinyNorman 12:00, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

- If he does, don't look for a Parthian shot. While he'd be justified in giving one (and it'd surely be a pleasure to read), I think PJR will simply not show up on wiki. He may have things to say via the SDGII or somewhere but I'm betting his sense of "everything in order" and decorum will leave him no actual choice but to leave quietly. --CЯacke® 13:15, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Interesting comparison[edit]
It's been interesting seeing the various tussles between Aschlafly and PJR recently and it demonstrates a major difference in their respective methods - even that they are incompatible.
When evidence challenges PJR's beliefs, he attempts to integrate it into his ideology. He is diligent in doing so (although many here will, of course, claim that it requires many Herculean stretches), thoughtful, and presents his conclusions in a reasonable dialogue - even if some of those conclusions might be considered unreasonable. He is not prone to ignoring uncomfortable information or dismissing it as "liberal", "evolutionist" or "atheist" as a debate winner.
Aschlafly, on the other hand, is almost the polar opposite. His first recourse is, of course, the ad hominen. Not just with people but with associations too. It is often enough for a fact or evidence to be of a particular national, religious, political, or social origin for it to be dismissed with derision. Instead of arguing the point, he attacks the source even if that source happens to be the Holy Bible itself. If that doesn't work, contorted "logic" is sprayed over the target evidence with wilful abandon. Finally, if contrary evidence is too much for even that, he will simply resort to his authority.
The two approaches are extraordinarily different. While PJR is willing to analyse evidence and either to metabolise it into supporting his views or to refute it with reasoned (albeit possibly flawed) arguments, Aschlafly simply denies it, scorns it or uses impossibly convoluted logic to refute it. Or simply ignores it.
When these two methods collide, the results are predictable. Although I'm still surprised at how PJR remains not just an editor but a sysop. Perhaps it's simply a desire to preach the good word whatever the forum and that outweighs any other consideration. Ajkgordon 12:42, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- I think you're right, his zeal for putting his own POV allows him to operate in a hostile environment. reminds me of the Jehova's Witnesses door knocking even though they know that 98% will tell them (politely>?) to piss off. ContribsTalk 12:49, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Invitation to PJR[edit]
Please, do the right thing. As per a wonderful Aussie movie, "Just walk away". And, come on over here and join us. Don't hold yer breath. If I were PJR I wouldn't come here even if I did jump ship. After all he'd be leaving a wiki that he's coming to realise is at odds with the truth as he knows it...to go to a wiki which is diametrically OPPOSED to his truth??? would be downright silly. CЯacke® 14:20, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- You're probably right. I don't want him to come here just for us to be able to jump all over him. I'd like to hear some of his points in a less totalitarian setting. In many ways, aren't we the target audience? I never got the whole "preaching to the converted thing". --Edgerunner76Save me Jebus! 14:25, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- Doubtful he'll come. He's treading in the open far too much as it is. - Doubt very much PJR will come here although I would like to see him. I have asked him directly in more than one e-mail to visit here and he has ignored me. Don't blame him really. I expect he gets a lot of that sort of thing via e-mail. Polite invitations. Must be tiring. RedDog 15:11, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

PJR - go to CreationWiki, instead. I doubt you would be happy editing here, but that place seems like it would welcome your contributions and maybe not be such huge jackasses about things like politics and religion at the same time.--Tom Moorefiat justitia ruat coelum 01:06, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

- I don't know what in the hell he did to "earn" being a sysop. Look at his record of contributions. He only edits a rather narrow range of articles, and about half of his edits are talk, talk, talk. Luckily, all of his talk contributions are conservative, and many of them are pointing out news stories of interest to conservatives, so he found a great way to endear himself to Andy. What ever happened to the ranting oblivion that was TK? Did I miss something? He came back but then just dropped right off my gay-dar. Ace McWicked 19:08, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
- He left CP because people like PJR started poking JM's copypaste orgy that was/is cp:Mind/body. PJR's poking led to the drama where JM "left CP", and TK also left in protest. Of course, JM quickly returned once people like Andy went all "Oh noes, JM! U R our bestest editor evah! Come back!". --Sid 19:16, 23 June 2008 (EDT)
