SEO are Go![edit]
Looks like Ken's changed his mind about the title of the Evolution article, which I remember he defended tooth and nail to give it the full title back when he was spuriously made sysop to "protect" it. Obviously it's more SEO games, he probably realized hardly anyone does a Google search for the full name, so he's trying to stake out ground on just the word, but it's still idiocy in action. Watch for a million double redirects as a result. --Kels 20:02, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Hey, Kels - the link you have shows nothing happening since May. Is this the one you want? PFoster 20:09, 28 December 2008 (EST)

- I think this is because Ken's operations are going awry. He was so proud that his evolution article was up to something like 13 on google, and kept on and on about how operation flying flounder would put it on the front page. However, now it is slipping back down to 19 or so, he's desperate to cause the "big things" to happen in 2009. --JeevesMkII 20:26, 28 December 2008 (EST)

- Aww, I have my own stalker, isn't that sweet? Hey Ken, I haven't forgotten that the sole reason you were made sysop was because the article was already locked to prevent facts from leaking in and only sysops could make changes. I also remember that you weren't supposed to make major changes to the article, but that didn't last long, did it? So maybe you can shut your lying face up now, plz? --Kels 20:36, 28 December 2008 (EST)

Holy bad metaphor, Batman![edit]
"The cheetah to the right runs 24 hours a day on the internet at breakneck speed. Soon the creation scientists and creationists around the globe will be doing the same once Operation Flying Fortresses is operating at full speed!" Ken's going to make the creationists run at breakneck speed. That... does not sound like a positive thing. --Barikada, who should probably sign in some day.

the-cloud-of-misery-has-somewhat-lifted[edit]
Ken is becoming more & more of a parody of himself. The page is now relocated to the snappy title of User:Conservative/Darwinism-is-going-to-be-really-ripped-into-in-2009. And apparently Operation Baptist Flying Fortresses has something to do with "a prominent Baptist institution" becoming more "Flying Fortress like". (See under "Evolutionist Gentlemen, the cloud of mystery has somewhat lifted". There's a helpful link to a photo of a cloud, just in case we have trouble imagining what a cloud looks like.) So, the plot thickens. In a really tedious way. wassaiLOId~ 18:17, 29 December 2008 (EST)

- The question is, is he trying to curry favour with the rich, or does he just hate the poor? --Kels 23:08, 28 December 2008 (EST)
- Schlafly new definition of rich is having lots of money and not working hard. But how hard has he worked for his money? He gets a retainer and home schools a few children. He has wasted every opportunity he has been given and still gets more. It is his complete inability to self assess that has always worried me about him. - User 23:11, 28 December 2008 (EST)

Life is just one big exercise in game theory where the aim is to repent as close as possible to your death so you can do all the fun stuff, but still collect the heavenly payoff, surely? It's so confusing to keep track of what fundies believe. Maybe if you piss God off, you still get in to heaven if you have faith but you don't get invited to any of the cool parties. --JeevesMkII 23:12, 28 December 2008 (EST)

I like how Andy cuts the parable short. The rest was;
“”31But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: 32and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats; 33and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; 36naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink? 38And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me. 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. 46And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

Truth comes to Conservapedia[edit]
It seems Conservapedia has discovered the truth of the LORD Jerboa. Take that, evil goatians on teh interwebs! (Also: This seems to be a wonderful example of copyright laundering. Jessica v. TK[edit]
Not only is he a massive fucking asshole, he doesn't even get that "RW" is an abbreviation for "Rod Weathers". I honestly hope Jessica leaves over this, simply because she doesn't deserve to be treated as such, and you can be sure that TK will only get the slightest reprimand, if any, over this. Jessica, if you're reading this, TK has just proven to you that Conservapedia is not only beyond saving, it's not worth saving. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 05:06, 29 December 2008 (EST)

- TK probably just likes to play sadistic power games. We can't get inside his head and tell exactly what he wants. Last time teh Assfly kicked him out before he could finish whatever he wanted to do. We have to guess.
- Perhaps he's playing some type of brinkmanship. "Let's see how far I can get before they block me."
- Perhaps he aims to control the site and plans to manipulate even Aschlafly later so that he will be the real power.
- Perhaps he learnt from his last mistake and will be satisfied when he controls everybody except the Schlafly family.

How will Andy respond to this, I wonder? It's clearly not wandalism, or parody, or even questioning his authority. So I got annoyed at a stupid "News" story about a BS conservative elevator speech, and decided to vent some caffeine by creating a stub for the CP crowd to create their own. PJR would be far better served simply taking himself elsewhere, where the law isn't embodied in the person of a complete arsehole with a Napoleon complex. The only alternative is to be constantly abused, even when you're so self-evidently correct as in this case, and to suffer a constant barrage of name calling with occasional showers of animated gifs from Kendoll to rub in the humiliation. I wonder if Andy is ever ashamed of the things that come out of his mouth, metaphorically speaking anyway. Squealing like a stuck pig[edit]
Conservapedia doesn’t like this sensible article from a democratic (probably) newspaper. Reform judicial nominations. They complain that the newspaper is squealing like a stuck pig. That’s a brilliant metaphor. We’ll have to remember it. Aschlafly and the rest of Conservapedia have been squealing like a stuck pig over Obama and any number of other issues they dislike. Proxima Centauri 02:50, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Prox, are you actually unfamiliar with the phrase "squeal like a stuck pig"? It's a reasonably well-known idiom — in the U.S., anyway. As opposed to Ken's "cat hit by the shoe" nonsense; I assume we always make fun of Ken for that phrase because it's a Ken original. But "stuck pig" is a common phrase. Digression: I got halfway through this post, and then realized that I was thinking of "bleed like a stuck pig", not "squeal ~". I'm actually not sure I've ever heard "squeal ~" before. But it turns out that "squeal" gets more Google hits than "bleed", so whaddayaknow. --Marty 20:45, 30 December 2008 (EST) oh yeah, and it's a simile, not a metaphor

TK and Europe[edit]
TK has NO clue... He just blocked a user Euroconservative, for being a sock. Than he rushed to remove parody from an article Euroconservative had created. What are his - let's call it insights:
- VVD People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, is a liberal political party in the Netherlands: Yes, VVD is liberal, but in a European sense. Generally, you have two liberal parties in the Netherlands, VVD and D66. D66 is leftist, VVD is right-leaning (market liberal)
- it was created by Geert Wilders a controversial leftist who is known for his support for Israel and his populist anti-immigration/Muslim policy. Epic fail. The VVD was founded in 1948 - Geert Wilders was born in 1963. Yes, Geert Wilders founded a party, the PVV - after he left the VVD - it seemed to be not conservative enough for him...
- It is also strongly in favor of a socialist welfare state. Which one? PVV? VVD? Rather neither!
I can't form this in a succinct point for the WIGO. Certainly, it's something I don't even expect Americans to know about. But it is the modus operandi of CP to dumb down any article which doesn't fit in their worldview, showing as much of knowledge - and disinterest in facts - as possible: VVD is liberal, therefore it is socialist and atheistic (don't get me even started on the three pillars of the Dutch society...) LArron 03:36, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- TK also thinks CPAdmin1 is a liberal. Proxima Centauri 03:55, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Keep in mind that "conservative" on CP means Schlafly-conservative. So anybody but the most hardcore parodist can be branded "liberal" whenever needed. TK especially pushed this position to drive out ANY European influence/editor who tried to teach Andy that "conservative/liberal" means something else outside of the US. Here's a quick test: What are the parties' positions on school prayer, abortion and gun control? If any of the answers doesn't fully match Andy's view, the party is liberal, period. --Sid 04:54, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- I don't think that's what TK is doing. Whereas Andy obviously uses "liberal" as code for "anyone who doesn't agree with me," TK uses it as a mark (sorry, game lingo). Andy has a dichotomy in place, but with the result of creating special bins he can classify people to, and then use it the label "liberal" as shorthand to disregard or oppose anything said by anyone in the liberal bin. With TK, I can't really tell if he believes in Andy's absurd dichotomy, but he certainly makes use of it. TK calling his opposition "liberal" is a way to slander his opponents in the higher-up's eyes by using the site's ideology against his enemies. It's like a codeword/signal for "rally to me, attack my opponent," while making him appear to be the conservative oppressed hero. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 05:15, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- TK, Bugler and RodWeathers all use "liberal" like some people use "racist" or "nazi". Ooh, you disagree with me; if I yell "liberal" loud enough you'll get embarrassed and go away. As Arcan said, they use it as an insult, not for idealogical purposes. --PsyGremlinWhut? 05:47, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- That's not quite what I meant. It's an insult, sure, but it's more than that for the people trying to curry favor with the "inner circle." By crying "liberal," you're denigrating your opponent, but you're also both gaining conservative cred and sounding the horn for other conservatives to join you. If it's just TK vs. Tim, it may be hard for someone to choose a side, since you're choosing an individual to favor, but if it's a conservative vs. a liberal, it's a lot easier for CPers to decide who they back. In this way, "liberal" is not just insulting, it's demonizing and galvanizing. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 06:54, 30 December 2008 (EST)

- They're like howler monkeys. The monkey that can howl "liberal" the loudest and longest has the most influence. This is why the default rebuttal to any argument is "you're a liberal." Stile4aly 13:36, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Teenagers part duh.[edit]
I'm amazed at how quickly Schlafly's list of wondrous teenagers is fizzling out, considering everything was invented, created, written, etc, etc by teenagers. Apart from a few notable examples, the rest is a joke. Even Vietnam soldiers are 'notable' now. When he starts hauling in David, John and Mary (no, not the folk band) you know the barrel is being scraped. Sad thing is, even when confronted with this, it won't shut the buffoon up. --PsyGremlinWhut? 08:29, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- My favorite bit is this. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that simple facts can have liberal bias, but still. --Arcan ¡ollǝɥ 08:36, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- What's more, a significant number of those listed are not so much "remarkable achievements by teenagers" as they are "achievements that are only remarkable because they were done by kids or teenagers" - e.g. Menuhin, Fischer, Mozart, Paolini, Cornwall. Not that I really expect Andy to operate at such a level of abstraction. --AKjeldsenCum dissensie 09:06, 30 December 2008 (EST)
That's kinda sick, Mary getting conceived at an early age being some sort of achievement. I can just see Andy telling Phyllis in his Kermit voice: "I'm going out for a while to make a few teenagers have some great achievements. *wink wink*" NorsemanCyser Melomel 10:37, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Just imagine the pressure this puts Andy's pupils under. Hey, kids, achieve greatness NOW or it's too late. Silver Sloth 11:18, 30 December 2008 (EST)
The only one on the list I can get behind is Galois. Some of them are just outright legends (Why stop at the Bible, Assfly? There's a wealth of fictional teenagers to draw on for your list!) Many of the Biblical figures he lists who possibly actually existed, he's pulling numbers out of his arse for their age (Bestest evar, John cited to Mystery: Was John a child? Not much of a mystery if you claim you already know, idiot.)
Many of the rest involve killing people. Now you've got to respect many VC winners, buy seriously despite their heroism in the line of duty have they really done anything to make the world a better place? Unitarian Terrorism!?[edit]
Speaking as Unitarian Universalist myself, I am wondering where the terrorism stuff comes into play. Our seven principles are (easy children's version for all you libruls): 1. Each person is important. 2. Be kind in all you do. 3. We're free to learn together. 4. And search for what is true. 5. All people need a vote. 6. Build a fair and peaceful world. 7. We care for earth's lifeboat. Perhaps CP could adopt these principles for a week to see how things go. Jimaginator 10:40, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- To CP, that IS terrorism. How dare you peaceful cretins, how dare you! NorsemanCyser Melomel 10:54, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- That wouldn't work on CP for the following reasons:
- 1. Each person is important. Unless you're a non-sysop, or worse, a liberal
- 2. Be kind in all you do. Nope - Andy said that mockery is ok in attacking non-conservative POVs
- 3. We're free to learn together. But girls will be tested differently than boys because of chivalry
- 4. And search for what is true. As long as it's "True" in Andy's worldview. Otherwise it's liberal claptrap
- 5. All people need a vote. Nope, that's a mobocracy
- 6. Build a fair and peaceful world. Where everyone carries the mostly defensive weapon of gun to keep the peace
- 7. We care for earth's lifeboat. Sorry - no "scarcity worship" claptrap allowed
- --SpinyNorman 11:06, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Oh, no! It's the Unitarian Jihad! --Gulik 17:12, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Good find, fella! ;)
Beware! Unless you people shut up and begin acting like grown-ups with brains enough to understand the difference between political belief and personal faith, the Unitarian Jihad will begin a series of terrorist-like actions. We will take over television studios, kidnap so-called commentators and broadcast calm, well-reasoned discussions of the issues of the day. We will not try for "balance" by hiring fruitcakes; we will try for balance by hiring non-ideologues who have carefully thought through the issues.

New Sysops[edit]
With the announcement that there will be new sysops should we start placing our bets? I say Bugler, RW, and TK will all get it plus maybe JessiaT who actually should get it but I have no idea who the fifth will be. Also I bet this is when PJR and Tim get purged --BoredCPer 20:02, 30 December 2008 (EST)
- Bungler and RW without a doubt. Jess has stood up to them, though, and taken Tim's side: she's out. TK is 50/50, I'd bet.-caius (historian) 20:06, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Is Brianco still in the running, or has he been inactive? He was my favorite, but I think others have been much higher profile recently. TK seems a certainty, and Jpatt and Foxtrot seem likely as well. Rod hasn't been on my radar until recently, so I'll have to research him a bit more to evaluate. If it's going to be 5, Bugler will have to be one of them. I previously thought Andy was smart enough to realize that even if Bugler weren't a parodist, he was at least a liability in terms of community. But he pretty clearly doesn't care about pissing off the few reliable contributors he has left, so Bugler will be promoted. The 5 safe bets seem to be TK, Bugler, Jpatt, Foxtrot, and RW, but safe bets are seldom a safe bet, in such quantities. What I find telling is this sudden mass promotion. Clearly Andy realizes that most of his current sysops are either inactive or liberal. Changes must be made. Will we be seeing the demotion of PJR and Tim? I guess that's another pool to set up. As some already said, my bets are on TK, RW, Bugler, Jpatt, and... RJJenson. Foxtrot has been inactive, Jessica♥ is too new, etc. etc. Andy won't de-sysop PJR or Tim simply because he overrules them no matter what the situation, meaning he can insult them, berate them, revert them, and know they'll keep editing like gluttons of punishment. All this messing about with user rights in advance of the pronouncement is daft though. Why haven't any of the other possibles had their user rights tidied up in advance? If he really wanted to tidy up how about removing all those user groups left over from the competitions? Looking at the user rights log I see BenjaminS got checkuser for "promotion based on contributions" while TK was just given it without comment, just like you'd toss a busker a few pennies as you pass by. I agree the HelpJazz demotion was pretty callous, especially as there are quite a few sysops who have been inactive. When did we last see SharonS or DeborahB. doing anything not related to homework? Bethany has been very quiet and as for the infamous CollegeRepublican well it seems like a year since he made his second and last edit, oh 20 December 2007 is actually more than a year ago! KotomiT is next because she's always contributing and is a counterpoint for the personalities of the first two. - Isn't there a Sysop pool for tracking these bets? If someone can point me to it I'll add my 2 cents, but if I'm wrong here's my prediction. Bugler and RW are locks per Andy's updates, and I'm 99.9% confident Jpatt's right behind them. KotomiT is next because she's always contributing and is a counterpoint for the personalities of the first two. BenjaminS, BrianCo and dark horse newcomer DeniseM are in my tossup pool for the remaining spots, as is TK. I tend to think that since Andy's given him so many rights already, there's really no reason for him not to go all the way. --SpinyNorman 10:10, 31 December 2008 (EST)
(unindentify) I don't get what everyone's betting on. At least five, maybe six new sysops? It's not like there's a massive field of contenders for you guys to choose from. To be honest, I don't really know where Andy is going to find his final two sysops from; I reckon he'll promote some relative unknowns (like that bible translation girl a few days ago), hoping to thus inspire fanatical loyalty unto death in them. It's gotta be Bugler; it's gotta be RodWeathers; it's gotta be JessicaT (sorry if the gottas are annoying you), but after that, I really don't know where he'll get them from. Contribution-wise I'd say JY23 and JPatt, but I don't think they hate gays and Obama and atheism enough (or aren't verbal enough about it) to be promoted to sysop. And that still leaves one more person. Andy likes people to kiss his ass, and I've never seen that from either. The REAL question is, once RodWeathers and Bugler are sysops (as they probably will be), how long will it be before CP explodes? EddyP 15:42, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- We've all forgotten HSmom. A good "merit" promotion, I'd think. The fun part is to figure out who's been pulling Andy' strings after he makes the announcement(s) based on who he picks. ħuman 21:33, 31 December 2008 (EST)

- @ Toast, they actually have to register in order to lobby Congress. There are thousands of them. I think they call the corridor where they hang out "Gucci Gulch". I don't mind pols getting "expert advice", which, in many cases, needs to come at least partly from people who are involved with making money on the topic. What I mind is when the pols only consult such lobbyists, present bills written by them, etc. Also, keep in mind that not all lobbyists are teh Ebil Capitalizt Skum, many non-profits, etc., employ them too. ħuman 21:37, 31 December 2008 (EST)

2009[edit]
New Year's eve, I suspect a lot of lickspittles will be queuing up to kiss the Assfly. But in the meantime what I want to know is what the possessive "Year's" are doing in Andy's reply to Jessica? ГенгисYou have the right to be offended; and I have the right to offend you. 07:50, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- All your years are belong to Assfly. In related news, isn't Ken's article of the year up for renewal? Any bets on that happening? --PsyGremlinWhut? 07:59, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- Four more years! Four more years! --Kels 08:49, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- The first one ("a happy New Year's to you") is standard English; "New Year's" being an elision of "New Year's Day" or more generally the season around New Year's [Day] (or sometimes New Year's Eve, depending on context; e.g. one might be attending a New Year's party tonight). The second one ("to bring in the New Year's") is a mangled remembering of the idiom "to ring in the New Year", and should not be possessivized. --Marty 16:32, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- That seems reasonable to me. Though is that not the kind of proletarian patios that the Assfly objects to? All the same perhaps undo this. Any way I've had enough of the heuchterin and teuchterin at BBC Alba, Blianadh Bha Ur!, and I'm away to the pub and a guid New Year tae ane an aw!. Auld Nick 20:11, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- I believe Marx covered proletarian patios in his famous work Das Verandah. I've undone as you suggested. (A couple more of the quotes on that page — ones that can be easily explained as dropping the word "a" (July 1) or replacing "let" with "you" (June 20) — seem unjustified too, but I'll leave that to the people who do things here other than lurk at WIGO.) --Marty 04:54, 1 January 2009 (EST)
Lonesome Ken[edit]
Breaking News! Wow Peter LaBarbera recently wrote an interesting piece. Thanks Ken. ГенгисYou have the right to be offended; and I have the right to offend you. 08:20, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- Ken's a lonely, lonely child in a man's body, and even his supposed peers over at CP barely give him the time of day when he goes through all the trouble to post pretty animated gifs and overblown bragging on their pages. Heck, he put a whole paragraph on Andy's page, and he didn't even get a reply. We're about the only ones who recognize his existence these days. --Kels 08:48, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- Hey, credit where credit is due, it only took him two edits! (And Andy took down that ratty-by-now tree. Phew...) ħuman 16:54, 31 December 2008 (EST)
R.I.P. SamHB[edit]
TK casually destroyed the biggest pillar of the community of mathematicians at CP - describing SamHB (editor since April 4, 2008) as a sock of AlanS (editor since October 19th, 2008) is just the icing of the cake.
The handling of SamHB may be a warning to new contributors on mathematics, like WilliamBeason (Well, he named evolution as one of his scientific interests, so he won't stay that long...) --LArron 11:37, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- No, the icing on the cake is the sideline comment in the block reason: "previously blocked". Assuming that this applies to me (which I would guess, going by the way the sentence is phrased), then I gotta say that none of my blocks were fair, and my current one is one month for suggestiong (a) that you need an education as a linguist, translator or biblical scholar before retranslating the Bible and (b) that it might be a good idea to hand out Page Move rights because 150+ requests are still pending.
- Needless to say that I'm not SamHB, but I'm definitely not surprised to see him being banned: He knew a few things about mathematics and showed some compassion. And such qualities are Bad Things on CP. --AlanS 11:50, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- I see Tim has unblocked both of you. And as this is my last post for 2008 (been celebrating time zone new years every hour on the hour), Happy New Year, you 'orrible lot. --PsyGremlinWhut? 12:44, 31 December 2008 (EST)

- Gotta love how TK keeps claiming that SamHB is the sock, even though he joined way earlier than Alan. Also interesting how hard this open encyclopedia project tries to lock people out. --Sid 19:35, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- This is why CP can't ever succeed--due to Andy's narrowminded paranoia, they have to maintain such a high level of information control that they end up strangling their precious little flipper-baby in its crib. --Gulik 03:41, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Great Achievements by Teenagers[edit]
Andy adds another great achievement, presumably to the world of comedy: http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=Great_Achievements_by_Teenagers&diff=597829&oldid=597769 I'd add it myself, but I don't know how ;_; EddyP 12:04, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- The irony there is that if you consider "most popular" articles on CP, including their Article of the Year, these are locked and managed by a handful of editors who I believe are not teens. Teens may have started CP, but the content they are most proud of is being created and managed by adults. --SpinyNorman 12:10, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- Physically they're adults. Their mental age, though.... EddyP 12:14, 31 December 2008 (EST)

- Nobody but Ken's read those three articles. --Kels 12:26, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- I'd say Andy is proud in a passive way because he's never stopped Ken from promoting them, and he's never hesitated to talk about CP as a top search result for Evolution. Andy's always been more interested in numbers (pageviews, class size) than in the quality of the content behind those numbers or the thought that people come to CP to laugh as much or more than they do to learn. --SpinyNorman 12:21, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- Of course, as they're more than one sentence long (and how!), he's probably never read them anyway. Toast 12:24, 31 December 2008 (EST)

Chafing[edit]
Bugler's really starting to feel the effects of losing his "block first, ask questions never" powers. Note he hasn't made any comment whatsoever on the user's talk page or the adoption page, so one assumes he just intended to block the guy outright without discussion. Anywhere else, that would work against becoming a sysop. --Kels 13:59, 31 December 2008 (EST)
- There's not a question in my mind that Bugler's loss of rights is just a predicate to him getting a full sysop-ship. Same with RW.-caius (historian) 14:09, 31 December 2008 (EST)

I don't think Bugler's and RW's rights-strippings were a good sign; I think Andy might really be punishing the parodists. However, if he had finally decided that they were Liberal Parodists, why wouldn't he just block them outright? (To mollify Ed/TK? But surely TK's been talking to Andy off-wiki anyway, and would have had a hand in any promotion/demotion/parodist discussions?) So I'm also confused. --Marty 16:41, 31 December 2008 (EST)

I have to compliment TimS for writing an excellent resignation letter. As a lefty I originally went to Conservapedia to read an opposing viewpoint on political issues. I find that I learn a lot more about my own viewpoints when I read someone's thoughts that come from the opposite direction. Sadly, conservapedia didn't serve that purpose for me. I stopped visiting it for awhile. A few months ago I decided to return to see if had improved. It hadn't. But, the time in between visits enabled me to actually enjoy the site as if it were a parody. And, to have fun coming here to mock it. But, I really feel bad for people like PJR and Tim (Was tim formerly named MountainDew?) who fighting the good fight to create an actual conservative website find themselves stuck at a site that is a joke to both the right and the left. I don't see anything wrong with Andy stripping Tim of his username or rights. But, I think it is pretty low class of him to fail to thank him publicly for the years of service and content. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Anyway. Kudos to Tim and I hope you are able to find a site that fits your needs better. Patrickr 21:36, 31 December 2008 (EST)

A saner CP in 2009?[edit]
Without Bugler & RatWeathers - who clearly should've gone all MexMax earlier, hint to all continuing parodists - it seems possible. What a bust!-caius (historian) 02:13, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- No, all the quality 2008 lulz were products of exactly three people: Andy, Kendoll and Smilin' Uncle Ed. People like Karajou and his parodist spawn are just background noise drowned by this axis of ignorance. Admittedly, it won't be quite the same with only one last vestige of sanity left. Hopefully, PJR has some quality fighting left in him before he gets pissed off with Andy calling him a liberal once too often. Plus, there's high hopes for TK betrayal lulz in 2009. --JeevesMkII 02:30, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- As always, TK's the card I don't get. If he was really out for parodist blood, it makes little sense to cut RW & Bugler but not TK, unless Andy (1) totally trusts TK and (2) TK tells Andy to kill Bugler and RW. #1 I believe. #2 makes no sense given TK's, as far as I can tell, continuing desire to destroy CP. So, puh?-caius (historian) 02:35, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- You can be sure TK had his fingers in this, though his reasoning is totally incomprehensible. Since he's out to destroy CP (and then, the world!), he should want RW and Bugler to be sysops more than anything else. What doesn't make sense is why Andy would nuke the two of them, since he has never disagreed with them or undone their absurdity, but has praised them and given them increasing rights. - Gentleman Publius (V)<,",>(V) 03:44, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- Not necessarily incomprehensible. If TK needed to win back Andy's trust then exposing Bugler and RW would be the perfect way to do it and greatly increase his chance of regaining his sysop position. I guess from his perspective it would be the lesser of two evils. Knowing TK it could also be some ridiculous power grab, not wanting to compete with the two parodists for the position of main power broker and influencer of Andy (Bugler would have been my top contender for this). As for why Andy hasn't blocked the two parodists already, perhaps he still doesn't trust TK entirely, and is giving them a chance to explain themselves after removing their ability to do damage. After all, Andy hates admitting when he's wrong, especially in public, and would want to avoid a high profile incident of false accusations at all costs. Then again, maybe we're wrong and he's creating a new class of sub-sysop or something, it's the sort of clueless thing he'd do.
- As for whether CP will be saner, probably not. Even though there are some more reasonable sysops we now have Jpatt and TK, who will bully any dissidents into submission. Then you've got the usual trio, Andy/Conservative/Ed, along with Dean, Karajou etc, who managed to make themselves a laughing stock even before Bugler and RW came along. Maybe if there was a complete overhaul of the power structure with greater accountability and a more balanced mix of users then I'd believe CP would have a chance of recovery, but as there isn't then let the lulz continue gentlemen. Happy new year. RyanC 05:02, 1 January 2009 (EST)

On the other hand, we know they all watch the watchers; could it be that Andy is actually fucking with us? "Ha ha, let's see those Rational mouthbreathers figure out this move!"?
BTW, has anybody figured out why Andy switched from Aschlafly to aschlafly a month or more ago? I've been wondering whether somebody has secretly replaced our Andrew Schlafly with Folger's crystals and left the lowercase "a" as a clue... but I don't see how that would be possible, given that Andy definitely exists and is known to other CPers in meatspace. --Marty 05:09, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- Or, in the words of Lenin, "Let the fuckers work that one out." --YossieSpring in Fialta 09:50, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- I agree with most of the above posts. The promotions did bring some sanity into the sysop ranks, but keep in mind that we also had sysops like Tim, PJR, DanH and whoever the girl was who opposed Andy on different tests for boys and girls. In the end, the lunatics will set the tone, and I see Andy, Ed, Dean, Ken and now TK and Jpatt. Bugler and Rod would've just been TK Clones, so their absence sort of pales in comparison of TK actually having full sysop authority again. And who says those two are gone, anyway? They're apparently not banhammered, so they might get their block rights back soon enough. And even without that, they'll just mail TK and pretend they're still better than the rest. 2009 will be crazier than 2008, just like 2008 was crazier than 2007. --Sid 06:25, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Regarding the WIGO on that vile moron's attempts to politicise Columbine for the purposes of slurring Wikipedia: is Assfly really THAT stupid? Really? Did he ACTUALLY read this? If he did, that's some pathology he's got going. Because I can't imagine why he would provide that link unless he thought it was somehow helpful to his case. Does he just...see words on a page, and mix them in his brain until they agree with his beliefs? --YossieSpring in Fialta 07:18, 1 January 2009 (EST)

The WP article, for being so short, is pretty clear on the whole thing, and even leaves the doubts at the bottom where Andy isn't likely to read to anyhow. He's probably pissed because they don't actually use the term "Christian martyr" in the first sentence, preferably in bold caps. --Kels 12:35, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Brian,
I supported your nomination subject to some basic checking of identity and location, as I indicated. I was not convinced by your answer.
My guess is that you started out as a clever parodist on the site, and may or may not have had a change of heart since then. Going from "Bugler", a common name, to "Brian Ugler" (a name that virtually does not exist) was interesting. I wasn't convinced by it.
I'm fine with your continuing to contribute and maybe something will change my mind or yours. If your name isn't "Ugler", it would be a great way to start 2009 by being straightforward.
Regardless, happy New Year's.
Andy

Dear Andy
While I'm naturally disappointed not to have been included in the six new sysops, I quite accept that it's your decision and I respect that. However, to help me to contribute to the greater benefit of Conservapedia in the future, could I asked why you changed your decision, and how I could be more effective?
With best wishes

Brian Ugler,
You've been nominated for Sysop (Admin) special status on Conservapedia, which I whole-heartedly support. The promotions will be on New Year's Day.
Our procedure is to acquire the real name and location of anyone before promoting them to Sysop status, for accountability purposes. If that's a problem at this time, then you could decline the promotion at this time and be reconsidered in the future. This information is not made public on the site, and would be kept private by me unless there is an unexpected conflict.
Thanks for your superb insights.

So will Andy or any sysops look through Bugler's blocks and undo any? Nope. That's the legacy of Bugler. It's not some huge explosion of lulz, but a carefully grown and long-thought process of isolating CP from good editors. IMO, he's done a great job at providing us with awesome WIGO entries and has done a great good deal of damage to CP. NorsemanCyser Melomel 11:08, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Okay, so: out of Richard, Samwell, MexMax, and Bugler, (1) which was the most damaging "seekrit parodist" reveal, and (2) which was the most damaging parodist career? Bugler clearly wins cat. 2 I think.-caius (historian) 11:34, 1 January 2009 (EST)

The paranoia is what amuses me here. Why do they "acquire real names and addresses"? How do they prove them, and what can that accomplish? - As a parodist, Bugler was peerless. As a cunt too, unfortunately also peerless. Ruined the fun of being a parodist for many others, myself included by making it impossible to survive long if you put your head above the parapet. Takes one to know one, I guess. Bondurant 11:52, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- I kind of agree with the above comment. No grief or anything it's all fair game in my book. But I do think that from Andy's point of view Bugler did far more good than harm. He managed to add to a bit of falling out amongst the Sysops once or twice but apart from that? He created hundreds of new articles (mostly fairly useless but then so is most of CP) and did sterling work beating off other parodists. I remember he fairly single handedly spoiled our fun with the footballers names thing? I'm sure there were others too. So no, I'm afraid I think it is Andy who has won on this one. I think we have to hand it to him. He let Bugler run around banning vandals (which he did very effectively) then Andy banned him before he did any real harm. We can't win if we don't recognise a defeat. And I see this as a real defeat for the parodists. Just my opinion. StarFish 12:03, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Obama Nationality Poll[edit]
It appears as if more and more Americans doubt whether Obama is a natural born citizen and therefore legally entitled to be President of the United States. The numbers of Americans who are concerned about this issue may be extremely large. The liberal "mainstream" media continues to be negligent in doing their duty when it comes to informing the public and about this issue. [10] It is no surprise that the very liberal New York Times has lost 60 percent of its stock value in 2008 as consumers keep finding alternative news content and companies find better places to advertise and sell their products.—CP Main Page
Really? Using an unscientific poll to justify a claim is bad enough, but trying to tie questions over Obama's nationality to newspaper decline? (I mean I realize that Mr. Schlafly doesn't believe in science - but this is going a little far.)
First of all, almost all newspapers are going down - even conservative ones; it's not hard to see why: an Alexa search shows a general trend of increased traffic to the New York Times website (see right). The New York Times offers a large amount of its articles (if not almost all of them) for free online. As Americans become more and more familiar with the web and computer-technologies, traffic increases, and why would anyone buy the paper copy when they can get everything online for free? Thus, the entire notion of saying that stocks/subscriptions are going down therefore the newspaper is being rebuked is ridiculous. What would be more accurate is a comparison. I offer this source [3], which, although unreliable, is the only 2008 info I could find, and seems reasonable given the confirmed (by reliable sources) the 2007 stats. According to both sources -the Times is still the third-largest newspaper. Nonetheless, at first glance Conservapedia seems to be correct. The Times has lost ground and the conservative Wall Street Journal has not lost ground, but if you notice the New York Post, an indisputably conservative paper (owned, as the Wall Street Journal is, by Rupert Murdoch), has lost more ground than the Times. Therefore, again, any claim that implies that certain newspapers are declining because of their liberal perspective is simply inaccurate.
As to the poll itself: obviously it's hard to refute this, as most legit, scientific polls aren't even bothering with the issue, so my argument will be a little theoretical. If people think that there is merit to the controversy, then they are obviously saying that they are starting to think Obama is not fit to be president. From the source that Conservapedia cites: "An unscientific poll by America Online suggests more and more people are having second thoughts about Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office." So, in other words, if the poll is to be believed, people are obviously a little skeptical about Obama, or, in other words, they aren't very confident. I would merely point to a Gallup poll to refute this. 69% of the poll's respondents say they are confident in Obama, only 22% say they are not confident. But let's be a little more direct. If the source is to be believe, then this should be reflected in Obama's favorability stats. A Real Clear Politics page (which compiles other polls) averaged polls on Obama's favorability. The total range of the polls was from 10/31 to 11/02. These polls showed that, by a 17% margin, American view Obama favorably.[4] However, a Gallup poll (note: Gallup polls are daily) shows that now Americans view Obama favorably by a 56% margin. Now obviously the big reason for the increase is that the tenseness of the election is gone, but surely if 53% of Americans thought that there was credit to the idea that Obama isn't a citizen, the margin would not be as wide as it is. Thus, it seems that "more and more people are having second thoughts about" not supporting Obama.
Again, I realize that my second argument isn't entirely sound since I can not refute the poll directly, but citing the poll itself to draw conclusions (and failing to mention that the poll is unscientific) is, in my opinion, even more questionable.--Iduan 12:46, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- Well, the other very obvious problem with a poll like the one Andy's citing is that the vast majority of people who are going to be motivated to respond to it are the ones who agree with the premise that Obama's not a citizen. Most others likely aren't even going to notice that the poll exists, because they're not obsessively canvassing the Internet looking for new tidbits on this "breaking story." --Phentari 12:54, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- Excellent point - I actually tried to phrase that the web results would be biased, but I'm glad I did not because you have done so better than I could have. (I'm pretty sure there's something grammatically wrong with that statement ... but I'm too lazy to rephrase)--Iduan 12:59, 1 January 2009 (EST)

New Sysops[edit]
It's rather curious to see where Andy managed to scrape together a mere six sysops.
The sensible:
- 1. Jpatt: Seemingly perfect sysop material. Thousands of edits to political articles, the requisite amount of anti-atheist absurdity. The new Tim.
The pathetic:
- 2. AddisonDM: The guy has staggeringly few "substantial contributions," and is notable only as an American History Student/Lackey.
- 3. DuncanB: Homeschooled New Jersey kid, who adds articles about Star Wars, military equipment, and video games. Is he one of Andy's little brainwashees?"
The unfortunate:
- 4. JessicaT: The sympathetic person we all know and love, and who also has remarkably few contributions, especially in December, but is noteworthy for niche cultural articles.
- 5. RJJenson: A professional, he should be a sysop at any site he contributes to. Why on earth is this man at CP? Anyone?
The insane:
- 6. TK: The utter insanity of restoring him to power is known to all.
To fill SIX spots, Andy had to reenlist a man dedicated to destroying the site and two individuals who really add nothing to it but are unimpeachable peons. Bets on how long Kotomi lasts, anyone? - Gentleman Publius (V)<,",>(V) 13:48, 1 January 2009 (EST)

- I made a list of their total edits in December, hopefully someone with some awesum wiki software can tell how many were talk page edits, weak insignificant contribs, or userpage stuff. I can see RJJenson being a sysop, but he's not got an abusive backbone to show yet. DuncanB and AddisonDM seem to be Andy's support team of unquestionable loyalty, since their edits are very sparse. I followed an approach of [User:Jtl|Jtl] and sorted edits in three categories:
- the destination has no colon (:) in it
- the destination includes a colon (:) (e.g., User:Bugler, Debate:Is gun-control the answer to crimes involving guns?)
- the destination includes the phrase talk: or Talk: (e.g., Talk:Barack Obama)
Obviously, the third class is a sub-class of the second one - and it's a little bit blunt, but it serves my purposes... Furthermore, the data I use is half a month old, and I took the whole history, not only the last 30 days. Maybe, I'll update it in a couple of days (have a look here (done) and here (to do))

Tall?[edit]
How tall is Andy? Anyone know could explain a lot if he's a shortarse. (no offence to vertically challenged persons intended) Toast 15:25, 1 January 2009 (EST) This photo may give a clue. He's probably around the 6' mark, perhaps slightly shorter. He's likely smaller than Obama, so that inferiority is just a minor factor. :P NorsemanCyser Melomel 21:48, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- In this case, it's not the inches that matter, it's the prominence. Obama is seventy-twelve feet tall. Andrew is two inches short of a dry martini. ħuman 23:52, 1 January 2009 (EST)
Cowardjou[edit]
Watching Karajou block an entire TOR node (note the user page of one poor deleted guy) because he thinks he smells an Ames makes me wonder: how is it that everyone's favorite Navy dropout hasn't unloaded on TK yet? Remember how much Karajou hated TK after he opened the SDG?

So, with Bugler having outed himself....[edit]
....Any chance they'll undo all the blocks he made just to scare people away?
....Anyone?
....nah, I didn't think so, either. Better that a hundred innocent should die than that one guilty man should go free, after all. (Any one here besides me who's enough of a gaming geek to think that Andy would fit in perfectly in Warhammer 40K's Imperium of Man?) --Gulik 17:13, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- I've been saying that. Reversing Bugler's blocks is an act of apology and humility, an admittance of stupidity by the highest of powers (and all sysops who ignored the warnings signs). That'll never happen, which I think was Fret's ultimate goal - playing his hand so they can't fold. NorsemanCyser Melomel 17:21, 1 January 2009 (EST)
- Nah, they've got practical reasons to leave the blocks in place too. For example, if they unblock any of my socks and I notice, I'll be back right away. I suspect part of that "please teach me" business is part of his cover for POV pushing, because he keeps trying to claim innocent motives. --Kels 00:39, 2 January 2009 (EST)

Love the sinner[edit]
On CP's Westboro Baptist Church article they claim that "While mainstream Christianity rejects homosexuality as sin, following God's example, they love the sinner ...". Just what CP & CP's God do? A clear case of "Do as I say; not as I do". Unless of course it's loving to damn people to an eternity of hHell that is. Toast 00:36, 2 January 2009 (EST)
- Wait, hang on. Are we talking about the same god here who is so holy he can't have sin anywhere near him, so all sinners have to proceed directly to hell, do not pass go, do not collect 200 manna? Presumably then god loves sinners in much the same way as you or I might love a mangy, flea ridden, possibly rabid stray dog... from a safe distance. Holy contradictions, Batman! --JeevesMkII 01:37, 2 January 2009 (EST)
- Well, no that's not how it works according to Christianity. People who go to heaven aren't sinless, they are just forgiven. I really don't want to get into a flamewar about this though.

Conservapedia's offline yet again[edit]
A high proportion of the times Conservapedia is offline we can see that Andy is under pressure over something or other. Other times there may be family pressure or pressure from emails, secret forums, people Andy knows offline.
