I endorse Richard Spencer. He started no wars and provoked no riots — much less "extremist" than Ziocons or BLM.

Anatoly Karlin (Анатолий Карлин),[note 1] (1988–) known as powerfultakes,[4][5] and Nooceleration[6] is a Russian far-right eugenicist,[7][8] anti-semitic conspiracy theorist,[9] anti-vegan activist, self-confessed glue sniffing addict[10] and former writer for the The Unz Review. Karlin has a long history of posting racism, white supremacy and misogyny online — to the extent he admitted, in 2019, to being a "racist and very happy with that" after posting on Reddit how much he dislikes Black people.[11][12]

Karlin has admitted to finding 14-year old girls "hot" and once posted a picture of a 14-year old girl on his Twitter account which lost him support from fellow white nationalists.[13] In 2016-2018 he was a poster boy for the neo-Nazi Richard Spencer, attendeding at least one white nationalist conference with him,[14] and he set up an alt-right podcast named ROGPR, promoting Spencer's white ethno-state.[15][16] Karlin has said he agrees with "about 70%" of the alt-right.[14] He supported the Unite the Right rally.[17]

In December 2023, Karlin wrote series of articles titled "Intellectual Restructuring" saying he had repudiated his former racist and pro-Putin nationalist beliefs, distanced himself from Spencer and is now an anti-racist activist and liberal who supports "open borders", globalisation and LGBTQ+ rights.[18][19] Karlin must have thought he could fool people with this troll/stunt/grift attempt, but Spencer tried the same thing in 2020[20] — no one really cares about their empty words, the damage is already done to their reputations. Karlin describes himself as a proud shill for "GloboHomo".[18] He says he is genderless and identifies as an "it".[21] Critics point out, similar to Richard Hanania, that there is no evidence that Karlin has genuinely abandoned his far-right views but is rebranding them to make them appear more palatable and his claims about supporting the LGBT movement are a trolling attempt. Despite supposedly renouncing his former racism — Karlin continues to defend race and intelligence pseudoscience and eugenics and still associates with far-right figures online including Richard Hanania, Edward Dutton, Emil Kirkegaard, Steve Sailer, Noah Carl and Diana Fleischman.

Karlin has criticized veganism for over a decade, likes to eat beef, has praised the Atkins diet and describes vegetarianism as based on "misplaced empathy".[22][23] On his website he has promoted an animal-based ketogenic diet and also says he likes to eats insects.[22][24] Karlin described vegans and vegetarians as being mentally ill but recently claimed to support animal rights and reducing animal suffering based on how many neurons animals possess.[25] His subjective type of animal rights involves only protecting pigs, as Karlin says almost every other animal is acceptable to eat. For example, he has defended lamb consumption, commenting "sheep are just walking bleating meatbags so no problem with mutton/lamb" and says that eating fish, chicken, beef and most sea creatures including lobsters outweighs the suffering involved.[26][27][28][29]

Karlin currently promotes a new political philosophy, "elite human capitalism" which contradicts itself and is alleged to be the result of his drug addiction. He has stated that his daily glue sniffing has shifted him away from Russian nationalism to join "rainbow globalism".[30] He was a speaker at the libertarian Vitalia 2024 conference in which he delivered a presentation endorsing dubious ideas about IQ by far-right eugenicists and hereditarians including Bo Winegard, Emil Kirkegaard, Michael Woodley and Russell T. Warne.[31]

Background

Karlin was born in Russia in 1988 but moved to live in northern England at the age of six. In the late 2000s he relocated to the US where he lived until October 2016.[32][33] He then moved back to Russia and now lives in Moscow. He has claimed "Western values basically turned me into a Russian nationalist."[34]

Karlin was not always far-right. In 2008, when he was 19-20 years old, he described himself as a liberal and supported LGBT rights,[35] however, by 2013 he had changed his views to become a homophobe who not only opposed same-sex marriage but wrote an article titled "Why Homosexuality Shouldn’t Be Promoted". He commented at the time about his change in views:

Quite a few views have changed since then e.g. I am still an equity feminist but would clarify that I’m opposed to gender feminism. I’m also now a lot more skeptical of the LGBT lifestyle and have become a big adherent of HBD theory.[36]

By 2015 he began supporting Donald Trump and the right-wing populist party UKIP. In 2016-2017, he radicalised further to support Richard Spencer and the alt-right/white nationalism.

Karlin has written for the far-right Russian nationalist website 'Sputnik & Pogrom':

Karlin… once wrote for “Sputnik & Pogrom”, an ultra-nationalist website that was even too much for Putin based on the evidence of it being shut down on July 6th, 2017. In 2015 the website called for “crushing Ukraine” and establishing a “Russian ethnic state.”[37]

He described himself as an "IQ researcher" and "journalist" despite having no qualifications in psychology or any field of science and no academic background in journalism (He received a BA degree in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley. He has authored or co-authored a small list of papers since 2019 in journals of poor repute (arcane Russian journals, Psych, and Mankind Quarterly)[38][39] The quality of Psych journal's peer review has been disputed.[40] Psych is published by MDPIWikipedia. Karlin's self-description as a "journalist"[41] is dubious; the main website he writes articles for as a blog column, The Unz Review is associated with the alt-right and is most notorious for its anti-Semitism.

He received a bachelor of arts degree in political economy from the University of California Berkeley (though he has falsely claimed that it is a bachelor of science degree).[42][43][44][45] Karlin's lying about the degree that he received would seem to be an attempt at trying to make his racist statements look more legitimate than they actually are, a feeble attempt at credentialism by trying to make people think that he knows science. Karlin attended the London Conference on Intelligence in 2019 and appears in a video of the conference with the racist crank James Thompson.[46]

"Racial realism"

Karlin notes that he had become a "race realist" (a euphemism for racialism) in 2012 and began blogging about HBD-themes since then.[47][48]

His blog controversially promotes hereditarianism concerning group differences in IQ.[49]

I think evidence is pretty clear there are significant racial differences in IQ (itself the single most replicated construct in both the psychological & social sciences). But that's of secondary interest.[50]

Karlin promotes pseudoscientific theories about race and penis size,Wikipedia such as claiming East Asians on average have the smallest genitalia and Africans the largest, "average penis size (large – Africa; Latin America; small – East Asia). The latter example isn’t nearly as… flippant as it seems, since testosterone levels have a large effect on behavior."[49] A 2005 peer-reviewed study instead reported that "there is no scientific background to support the alleged 'oversized' penis in black people".[51] Karlin relied on dubious data from Richard Lynn included self-reported penis measurements.[52]

YouTube

Karlin created a YouTube page in 2009 but has only managed to attract ~500 subscribers in over a decade (and has under 20,000 video views).[53] This led him to complain in envy about more successful right-wing vloggers such as Sargon of Akkad and The Golden One, whom he binge-watches.[54]

The Unz Review

See the main article on this topic: The Unz Review

Karlin has made more than 2300 articles at The Unz Review since January 2015.[55] His column section is called "The Russian Reaction" and he writes mostly about HBD and politics.

In October 2021 he claimed to have left The Unz Review writing a final article titled "The Last Reaction".[56] However, he never completely left; as of March 2022 he is still an active poster on the website; although he doesn't publish any more articles — he now creates open threads under the title "Karlin Community". In October 2021 Karlin relocated his blog to Substack named Powerful Takes[57] and later Nooceleration.[58]

According to Colin Liddell, Ron Unz Editor-in-Chief of The Unz Review decided to remove Karlin as an article writer after he made some inappropriate sexual comments about 14-year old children:

What else is there? Maybe the old story about Karlin being a "respecter" of 14-year-old girls came to Uncle Ron's attention and caused crockery and matrushka dolls to be thrown around the office at Unz Towers. Back in 2014 Karlin made this disgusting tweet, leering over the sexuality of the 14-year-old daughter of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, which the Internet has chosen not to forget. In today's hysterically censorious world that makes you a fully-paid-up member of the paedo club with knobs on top, so maybe sacking Karlin was the only move left open to Unz.[13]

In January 2018, Karlin wrote a blog post on The Unz Review defending paedophile apologist Emil Kirkegaard, whom Karlin maintains was quoted out of context by so-called SJWs.[59]

As of December 2023, Karlin was still very active on the The Unz Review, at times leaving comments daily. He has over 9700 posts.[60]

Powerful Takes/Nooceleration

On his current blog Powerful Takes/Nooceleration, Karlin has reinvented his political views as "animal rights", "LSD decriminalization" and "environmentalism" among other things and now presents himself as a political "centrist".[61][better source needed] His whitewashed biographical page mentions nothing of his extreme racist views, controversial views on rape, homophobia, misogyny, antisemitism and history of supporting white nationalism.

Views

…the pedantic neo-Nazi pseudo-intellectual Anatoly Karlin.
—Russia Without BS[62]
Who is Anatoly Karlin? Russia’s version of David Duke.
—@InvestigadoraP[63]

Karlin's racist views overlap with the alt-right to the extent that he openly admits he agrees with "about 70%" of the alt-right but denies being part of the alt-right movement (even though he has appeared at neo-Nazi conferences with white supremacist Richard Spencer) and in 2017-2018 co-owned an alt-right podcast named ROGPR that promoted white nationalism.[14][15] He supported the far-right Unite the Right rally in August 2017[17] but after lawsuit against people who involved in the rally (Sines v. Kessler,Wikipedia he began reinventing himself and rebranding his alt-right politics.

Karlin has attracted criticism for his controversial and offensive writings on rape, anti-vegan activism and global-warming denial. He is a crank who espouses a bizarre form of anti-environmentalism called "Tropical Hyperborea".[note 2] Karlin's idea of "Tropical Hyperborea" is a white ethno-state and he would only grant entrance to "whites from the high-IQ European & Anglosphere countries" who are willing to "culturally Russify".[64] As of September 2022, Karlin reinvented himself as a sinophile and indophile[65] (despite only a few years ago he claimed Indians have a low intelligence[66] and described Chinese people as racist terms such as "chinks"[67] and claimed that East Asian men have small penises, and other racist stereotypes.) He has been described as a political chameleon for "quickly jumping from different groups and internet communities each year, seeking e-fame."[68]

The Voice of America's fact-checking website, Polygraph.info,Wikipedia describes him as a "Russian white nationalist blogger".[69] Although Karlin's views are white nationalist, he rejects that label calling himself a Russian nationalist and "white guardist".[note 3] He is a former blogger for The Unz Review, where he promoted fake news, climate change denial, eugenics and race and intelligence pseudoscience. His writings have been reprinted by the extremist[71] Russia InsiderWikipedia with his permission, and he is mostly quoted in conservative to far-right publications. One of Karlin's oddest racist behaviours is travelling around parts of Russia and Poland complaining of seeing black immigrants as well as photos of black people on advertisement boards.[72][73]

In June 2020, Karlin was temporarily shadowbanned from Twitter.[74][75] Although the shadowban reason remains unknown, it could stem from Karlin being mass-blocked by users over racist and highly offensive tweets he made about Black Lives Matter such as describing it as a "Negrolatry religion" and "Cult of the Magical Negro".[75]

Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his batshit-crazy views and bigotry, Karlin is a fan of Donald Trump and claims that if he was American he would vote for him.[76] He endorsed Trump in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Among his other views are anti-feminism, HBD ("human-biodiversity") and anti-LGBT (for example, Karlin has argued that homosexuality should not be promoted[77]). His controversial views on rape are promoted by incel, MRM and manosphere bloggers.

In February and March 2022 Karlin began describing himself as a political "centrist"[78] and "Moscow journalist" on his social media profiles.[79] He now presents himself as an expert and forecaster on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is despite the fact nearly all his predictions about the conflict have been proven embarrasingly wrong including his claim (90% probability) "serious resistance" in Ukraine would last less than one week.[80][81] On 27 February, Karlin delusionally tweeted: "This conflict will be over in days, not weeks"[82] and he also wrongly predicted Russian military would take control of Kiev in late Feburary.[83]

On 8 March 2022, Karlin appeared on a MintPress NewsWikipedia livestream where he was introduced as a "Russian journalist".[84] The host failed to note Karlin is a white nationalist with a fairly recent history of endorsing Richard Spencer and attending neo-Nazi conferences.[85] Karlin has duped other media outlets into thinking he is a respectable journalist.[86][87]

An article published in 2020 about columnists for The Unz Review summarises Karlin's crank magnetism and racist views:

Anatoly Karlin– (a self-described journalist and IQ researcher, he studied political economy at UC-Berkeley and has only one peer-reviewed published article (in the Siberian Psychology Journal), he is a frequent poster to the Unz Review. In his writings, he has claimed that the human carrying capacity is 100 billion, while most other peer-reviewed and pro-science sources cite the human carrying capacity as being between 8 – 10 billion, with Australian Academy of Science finding only two out of 65 peer-reviewed papers coming to a similar conclusion as Karlin. He also has repeatedly tried [to] linked race and IQ together, relying on such controversial and academically questionable material like Richard Lynn’s research on the subject and The Bell Curve, falling for common assumptions about race and IQ. Karlin also has a Reddit account and, not uncommon for many Redditors, has voiced his own view on race, writing, "I am quite happy that few Blacks associate with Russia, considering the type of violence-ridden underclasses they tend to create in countries that open their doors to them… So yes, I am a racist and very happy with that,". He also has tried to link homosexuality and pedophilia. So, all around, someone who should not be given a platform, yet has been due to the Review).[88]

The University Times in 2019 described Anatoly Karlin as follows:

The Burkeans' rebrand this year has been matched by an ominous shift away from conservatism and into populism... More troublingly still, the article credits Anatoly Karlin, a well known member of the Russian far right who has appeared at events alongside American white nationalist Richard Spencer, as the source of many of the ideas expressed in the piece.[89]

Trump and MAGA

See the main article on this topic: Donald Trump
Anatoly Karlin in March 2016 wearing MAGA hat.

In December 2015, Karlin wrote his first article praising Trump.[90] In November 2016, Karlin described himself as a "Trump supporter":

I spent the election roundup drinking at a London School of Economics student common room. I am pretty sure that I and the Russian student who invited me were the only Trump supporters there out of 30 or 40 people. This is not that surprising when one considers that Trump Derangement Syndrome is universal throughout Yurop and Britbongistan, and furthermore, that this was: (a) London; (b) millennials; (c) students; (d) at a pretty elite institution, which made for a quadruple whammy. It was all good though since I got to feel like the physical embodiment of trollface.jpg.[91]

Karlin supported Trump in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.[92][93] In 2016 he walked around UC Berkeley with a MAGA hat to "trigger" what he called "shitlibs."[94] In 2020 Karlin endorsed Trump on the basis he opposes "SJWism".[95]

In July 2021 Karlin began to describe MAGA as "tired grifters" and instead support the more extreme Nick Fuentes:

Nick Fuentes is the closest thing the US has to a "genuine" opposition leader, a locus of normality in the zoo of tired MAGA grifters, WN oldfags, and Ziocon "hello fellow nationalist" types who otherwise make up the modern Alt Right. It's instructive the regime unpersoned him.[96]

White nationalism and the alt-right

In November 2015, Karlin described his views as in line with alt-right and white nationalist agendas to increase white birth rates in Europe:[note 4]

Yes, I know, they are sort of dorky and even SJWish at times. But technology has ideological load, as Michael Anissimov put it (in an article I can’t find), and it just so happens that transhuman techs are perfectly in line with Alt Right, NRx, Identitarian, and even white Nationalist agendas. Raising IQs via genetic editing will arrest the dysgenic trends increasingly affected[sic] all peoples on the planet. Degenerating into a global idiocracy serves absolutely no-one’s interest: Not of Europeans, nor Asians, nor Africans. Automation will (hopefully) redistribute resources from the NAM-pandering welfare systems of today to something more fair and equitable. It will also probably help even the gap between indigenous and immigrant fertility rates in Europe and the US. Radical life extension will help preserve white majorities in Europe. The reason that they are declining isn’t just a matter of birth rates, but also of death rates; Europeans are simply much older than your typical immigrant “youth.” Plummeting mortality and morbidity rates – apart from their general desirability – will from an ethnic perspective overwhelmingly benefit whites and help Europeans maintain majorities in their historic homelands.[97]

In May 2016, Karlin attended with Richard Spencer and Identity Evropa activists a white nationalist "Safe Space for Europeans" demonstration at UC Berkeley and later the same day he shared a podium with Spencer at a neo-Nazi conference and delivered a speech describing the alt-right as "common-sense":

Near the end of the evening, I was called up to the podium by Richard Spencer to give an impromptu speech. I went up and started rambling about my journey of discovery, my disillusionment, my “awakening”… LOL no I didn't, faggots. Your "Alt Right" is otherwise known as "common sense" in Eastern Europe – it's really quite funny how actually existing Marxism cocooned them from cultural Marxism.[14]

An article covering the white nationalist demonstration in The Tab describes Karlin as a "supporter of white nationalism".[98]

Anatoly Karlin and Richard Spencer at a neo-Nazi conference, May 2016.

In 2017, Karlin set up what he described as an "alt-right podcast" in Russia:

Some of my colleagues and I launched a half-assed alt right Russian podcast a year ago. YouTube channel already approaching 10k subscribers.[99]

This alt-right podcast was named ROGRP:

I and a couple of my friends here, Kirill Nesterov and @pigdog, have recently started up a podcast to discuss Russian politics from an Alt Right and HBD/IQ-realistic perspective in /pol/’s irreverent and semi-ironic style. If you understand Russian, or are learning the language, you can check it out at ROGPR.com.[100]

In April 2017, Karlin said he was promoting eugenics among the alt-right:

I have done what I could to promote this viewpoint amongst the Alt Right, both online and in person, however I suppose it is ultimately up to the Alt Right themselves what to do about it.[101]

Karlin at the same time tried to introduce the alt-right and HBD to far-right Russian nationalists, but by his own admission, failed:

My own modest aims are twofold. First, I want to help introduce the Alt Right to Russian nationalists, and vice versa. Second, I am trying to place Russian nationalism on a firmer, more scientific ideological footing, by importing useful concepts developed primarily in the West and applying them to Russian realities, such as IQ/HBD-realism.[102]

Anatoly Karlin with Richard Spencer at a white nationalist demonstration "Safe Space for Europeans" at U.C. Berkeley.

He has claimed he agrees with 70% of the alt-right, in other words the majority of white nationalism views:

Although I do not strictly consider myself Alt Right (or NRx), I do support about 70% of their positions, so I was happy to turn up with them to troll my alma mater.[103]

Karlin is a supporter of the white nationalist Paul Nehlen.[104] He is also a fan of Gregory Hood and Jared Taylor:

Gregory Hood is an excellent writer, one of my favorites in the “Alt Right”-sphere alongside Durocher. Good to see Jared Taylor on board as well.[105]

Unite the Right rally

See the main article on this topic: Unite the Right

Karlin in August 2017 supported the neo-Nazi Unite the Right rally (Charlottesville, Virginia).[17]

Sines v. Kessler and rebranding his alt-right politics

In early 2018 after the alt-right began fracturing as a movement and declining in its activities post-Unite the Right largely in response to Sines v. KesslerWikipedia which was filed in October 2017 — Karlin started rebranding his alt-right political views and now claimed he was not alt-right:

I am not Alt Right, I am a Russian nationalist.[106]

Despite his online support for Unite the Right on The Unz Review, Karlin was not a defendant in the lawsuit and had not personally attended the rally. Numerous alt-right figures including Matthew Heimbach who attended rebranded their alt-right politics like Karlin in response to Sines v. Kessler to avoid accountability.

In June 2018 Karlin deleted his alt-right podcast website.[107] The last website screenshots prior to deletion date to May 2018.[108]

In October 2018, Karlin described the alt-right as now "dead" as a political movement:

Alt Right is dead. It's brand is worthless.[109]

In 2019, Karlin dishonestly denied ever being a white nationalist or alt-right.[110]Do You Believe That?

In April 2021, Karlin said the alt-right's main political goals have not been achieved:

I think the Alt Right by and large realizes that none or almost none of their political goals are going to be accomplished due to ongoing demographic changes and the failure of Trumpism anyway (e.g. see the NPI's pessimistic 2018 outlook).[111]

In 2022 Karlin began criticising the alt-right and calling them "rightoids", despite only a few years ago he held these same views:

Anatoly Karlin is a pathetic figure: now obsessed with gaining official respectability and distancing himself from "rightoids" who believe in the same things he used to.[112]

Some of Karlin's own followers have questioned whether he has genuinely repudiated the alt-right:

Karlin is just playing along with the rhetoric sadly some of his fellow compatriots have, the man lived in the US for years, got in trouble for certain statements he made in Russian newspapers, and I have it on good authority he's a based racist. We shall see.[113]

As recent as February 2022, Karlin endorsed far-right candidate Éric Zemmour in the French presidential election[114] — so the leopard hasn't changed his spots.

In March 2022, Karlin had a falling out with Richard Spencer over the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[115]

Great replacement conspiracy theory

Typical of the alt-right, Karlin promotes the great replacement and white genocide conspiracy theories:

Trump's best chance to win in 2020 is if the Dems go into hardcore white genocide mode, so yes, I'm more than ready![116]

The Immigration Trilemma: Liberal decadence; open borders; indigenous ethnic group survival. Choose two.[117]

Karlin thinks political elites have a "population replacement agenda":

Drugs? Trafficking rings? Terrorist plots? Nope. Just disagreeing with the elite's population replacement agenda.[118]

In March 2022 he said Russian soldiers are fighting against "population-replacement":

Apt illustration. Russian soldiers are fighting so that Russia DOESN'T turn into a "Children of Men" dystopia dedicated to immigration-driven population replacement (i.e. the main allegory of that film which "conservatives" pretend not to notice).[119]

He has described Europe as Eurabia based on projections of the Islamic percentage of Europe’s total population.[120]

White ethno-state

Karlin supports a white ethno-state in Russia almost-entirely limited to white people from Europe specifically the Anglosphere countries:

@akarlin88 What percentage Russian/East Slavic ancestry would be enough to qualify for entry into your desired Russian ethno-state? Also, what about Western Slavs such as Poles, Czechs, and Slovaks?.[121]

As general rule, all whites from the high-IQ European & Anglosphere countries would be welcome given a willingness to culturally Russify. But it's not an absolute rule, individual exceptions can be made, for instance, I happily accept Benes Ayo[note 5] as Russian.[122]

When asked if Armenians & Georgians could enter, Karlin responded, "no".[123]

White supremacism and racism

Britain isn’t a shithole country – well, it sort of is becoming one, thanks to all the Negroes and Mohammedans it is importing, but it’s not there yet... Leaving because your own country is a shithole country is something that is more specific to Negroes.[124]

Karlin believes black people are incapable of maintaining a modern-technological civilisation:

Remove the whites who built America, and American blacks will regress to… well, we ran a direct experiment on that: Liberia (average IQ probably somewhere around 70). Would obviously not happen with Colombians, or Latin Americans in general. Average IQ of 85 seems to be the level where one can comfortable maintain a modern technical civilization, but not enough to make large numbers of significant innovations (which pretty much only happens only in Western Europe, Anglo offshoots, and East Asia).[125]

He thinks most blacks are only suited to doing low-paid work such as cleaning jobs:

A country can still be very functional if it’s got bright whites and Asians running things while Blacks predominantly do the janitor, cleaning, etc. jobs. Of course once the Black percentage reaches critical levels, things begin to come apart (South Africa is at that stage).[126]

In comments on his Reddit, The Unz Review and Disqus accounts, Karlin is explicitly and openly racist:

I am quite happy that few blacks associate with Russia, considering the type of violence-ridden underclasses they tend to create in countries that open their doors to them. Not to mention the extreme chutzpah and aggressive sense of racial grievance they tend to act out towards their host countries. So yes, I'm racist and very happy with that. If /r/europe SJWs or Islamists such as yourself have a problem with that, oh well. Don't care, really.[127]

He uses racist slurs and in October 2018 described a black woman as a "fat nigger bitch":

Several years back, in San Francisco, a black woman tried to solicit money from me, and began haranguing me about my racism when I walked past her. I told the fat nigger bitch to fuck off in precisely that language. She lapsed into a sort of slack-jawed shock for several seconds, allowing me to walk away unmolested. Clearly she had never been spoken to from a position of white privilege before. But my logic was, if I had to “serve the time” (to be harassed as a racist for not wanting to support her drug habits and/or teeming brood), why couldn’t I “commit the crime”? Even quite poor, less refined, recently war-torn white countries such as Serbia don’t rape like niggers.[128]

Elsewhere he has described his opposition to Islam and Muslim immigrants.[129]

Karlin does not censor racist comments on his The Unz Review column nor his personal blog.[130][note 6]

Karlin has claimed "on the basis of statistics that apartheid wasn’t all that bad for black South Africans probably isn’t racism."[130]

Despite being a virulent racist, Karlin self-identifies as a "liberal race realist.[131]Do You Believe That?

He has deceptively tried to separate himself to "low IQ racists" like Stormfront users despite he shares their racist views:

Karlin classifies himself as a "race realist" with Richard Lynn and Steve Sailer and not a "low IQ racist" like Stormfront users and David Duke, despite the fact he opposes non-white immigration and posts explicitly racist content online such as claiming that black people are violent with low IQ's and incapable of civilisation - views typical of neo-Nazis.

Karlin has described Sargon of Akkad as "based" for using racial slurs such as "'nigger’ and ‘spic'.[132]

Karlin opposes interracial dating and uses the word 'cuck', popularised by the alt-right, to describe Western countries that accept non-white immigrants and refugees.[133][134][135]

Hatred of black people

A selection of his most anti-black comments:

Britain isn’t a shithole country – well, it sort of is becoming one, thanks to all the Negroes and Mohammedans it is importing, but it’s not there yet – and yet hundreds of thousands of Britons leave yearly for Canada, Australia, and the US (and Iberia, for retirement).

Leaving because your own country is a shithole country is something that is more specific to Negroes.[136]

Of course the people arrested for political causes in the US exist, but they are in the single digits, versus something like a third during Stalinism. And unlike the US, the USSR was never burdened with a pathologically criminalized Negro subpopulation.[137]

Good things about Latino immigration:

  • Suppress black population share
  • More anti-Semitic so less likely to shill for Israeli wars than cuckservatives
  • Much fewer BLM worshipper, happy to wage race war against the bns
  • Probably not significantly more criminal than whites, as Ron Unz has argued
  • More colorful aesthetics, as Fred Reed continuously points out to us (if you lean that way)

Disadvantages

  • Too many short, ugly, obese women
  • 0.5% SD lower IQ than whites and gap shows no signs of closing (e.g. see Richwine)
  • I also feel that, regardless of one’s views on Latinos (my own impression is ultimately positive), the current inhabitants do have a legitimate right to want fewer of them for any reason or none.[138]

Warsaw more "blacked" than Moscow. See ~20 of them in a day, vs. 5 on a very bad day in Moscow (and almost none in Saint-Petersburg and down).[139]

Opposition to Black Lives Matter

Karlin opposes Black Lives Matter purely for racist reasons, describing it as "Negrolatry religion" and "Negro worship".

What you have in #BlackLivesMatter is an emerging religion, complete with its own pantheon of saints and martyrs and the latest iteration of what some have called negrolatry, or the Cult of the Magical Negro.[140]

That is problematic, considering that Negro Worship is now the official religion of America.[141]

He uses instead the label "Russian Lives Matter".[142]

Antisemitism

See the main article on this topic: Antisemitism

Karlin has claimed that "Russia Insider has good relations with AltRight.com, and they reprint my articles semi-regularly (with my permission)."[143]

The main editor of Russia Insider, published an antisemitic article called "It's Time to Drop the Jew Taboo":

The most vitriolic and obsessive Russia-bashing journalists in the media are mostly Jewish. The publications which push these writers most energetically are ALL Jewish-owned, and as a publisher, I know very well, that is where the buck stops. On the policy side, the neo-conservative movement, Russia's harshest foe, was conceived of, is led by, and consists mostly of, Jews. And their trouble-making extends far beyond Russia – they are responsible for America’s disastrous debacle in the Middle East over the last 20 years – where their crimes have been stymied by precisely one country – Russia. The psychotically anti-Russian recent UN ambassadors, Nikki Haley and Samantha Power, were put there by the Israel lobby, and given an independent brief, in other words, they answer not to their presidents, rather to their Jewish sponsors.[144]

Karlin controversially published a defence of the article, arguing it is "objectively true".[145] The article has been described as "a lengthy anti-Semitic manifesto",[146] with even its title being antisemitic ("Russia Insider Names Jew"),[145] Karlin is openly anti-Semitic, scoring himself 7/11 on a scale of anti-Semitism writing: "I suppose I deserve my “accolades” from the SPLC and RationalWiki after all."[147]

Benito Mussolini

In an article on The Unz Review Karlin praised the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, arguing that he "did nothing wrong":

However, Italians have no particular need to be ashamed of Mussolini.[148]

Support for far-right political parties

In Janauary 2015, Karlin supported Marine Le Pen:

So even though I disregard the Eurabia hysterics and doom-mongering, I do agree that immigration control is the #1 issue for France that must take precedence over anything else. Keep calm and vote Le Pen![149]

In May 2015, Karlin described the right-wing populist party United Kingdom Independence Party as closest to his own political views:

UKIP is the British party that is closest to my own positions and I daresay to the positions of the average The Unz Review reader.[150]

He supported UKIP in the 2015 United Kingdom general election.[151]

Karlin opposed UKIP moderating its policies, for example on same-sex marriage and supports traditional conservatism:[152]

However, it appears to me that Farage has been yoyoing on these issues of late, especially when it comes to gay marriage. First he was against it, then dithered, then changed his tack completely and said that it would be "grossly unfair and unethical to ‘un-marry’ loving couples or restrict further marriages." It seems that he has conceded the culture war has been lost and is merely trying to salvage whatever he can, such as allowing churches to opt out. Perhaps it is simply inevitable, with even 54% of UKIP voters supporting gay marriage. Surely it is electorally prudent. But considering Robert Conquest’s Second Law of Politics – that "any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing" – is it consistent with a longterm commitment to social conservatism and traditional British values?[153]

Karlin supported UKIP's raison d'etre – Brexit.[154]

In May 2017, Karlin wrote an article supporting Marine Le Pen (of the far-right party Front National) primarily because of her anti-immigration policies:

It is encouraging that Marine Le Pen increased the nationalist share of the vote up to ~35-36%. If we are to interpret French electoral realities as a race between native French "uncuckening" and Afro-Islamic demographic growth, then Marine Le Pen’s doubling of the vote relative to her father’s 18% in 2002 represents a positive and encouraging trend.[155]

On 6 May 2018, Karlin attended an anti-Islam demonstration in London organised by the Democratic Football Lads Alliance, UKIP and For Britain[note 7] praising a speech by Anne Marie Waters:

Fourth gal was Anne Marie Waters, head of For Britain. She had the best speech IMO, she’s a great rabble-rouser.[157]

Karlin is a supporter of the Russian ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. In September 2016, he described himself as a LDPR voter.[158] He says he voted for Vladimir ZhirinovskyWikipedia in the 2018 Russian presidential election.[159][160] Karlin's main political goals are shared by the LDPR and include Russian nationalism, "An end to mass immigration from Central Asia", "no more prosecutions for hate speech", and seizing formerly-Russian lands, "Belorussia, North Kazakhstan, Novorossiya, and Malorossiya".[161]

In September 2021, Karlin said he would now vote for Putin since he had taken a "nationalist turn":[162]

I usually vote for LDPR. But Putin has de facto become a nationalist, so I'm ready to reward him for it. [163]

A 2022 article in The Guardian titled "…how Putin has morphed into a far-right savior" sums up Karlin's sudden support for Putinism. It notes "The Russian president’s ‘strong man’ image and disdain for liberals has turned him into a hero for white nationalists."[164] This mirrors much of what Karlin wrote in an article, "Russia's Nationalist Turn How Putin Created the Russian National State".[162]

Misogyny and anti-feminism

Karlin has made many misogynistic and anti-feminism blog posts. Some of his comments are archived by We Hunted the Mammoth:

This is why your typical Third Wave feminist or rape activist is fat, has a manjaw, or is otherwise unattractive. If you are ugly, devaluing beauty is not bad evolutionary strategy.[165]

Karlin claims to oppose "gender feminism"[166] (more or less synonymous with third-wave feminism) which he describes as follows:

What Russia doesn’t have is gender feminism. In a nutshell, gender feminism seeks to masculinize women by (ironically) attacking traditional feminine virtues, while psychologically and legally emasculating men (suffice to say that in the US you have entirely mainstream commentators and professors like Hugo Schwyzer telling men to get pounded up the ass to become more “sensitive” and fight the patriarchy). Its proponents do not occupy Women’s Studies departments or write for broadsheets in Russia, to the contrary they are viewed as mentally ill. Chivalrous gestures are appreciated and expected of men, but the flip side is that the women are expected to treasure, not suppress, their femininity and nurturing instincts. As a result the Western cultural Marxists start writing about Russia as a very misogynistic country, as “a joke and embarrassment to civilization” as one of WaPo’s commentators put it.[167]

"Pseudo-rape" apologism

See the main articles on this topic: Rape apology and Informed consent

Karlin in a 2013 blog post defended what he calls "pseudo-rapists" as men who commit rape when drunk and has preposterously argued more than 25% of convicted rapists in the US are innocent:

In reality the deck is, if anything, stacked against innocent men and “pseudo-rapists” (i.e. the drunk fratboy who has sex with a consenting and equally drunk chick who really, really regrets it the morning after) because the pro rapists are almost by definition more proficient at it in the first place and would take care to cover their traces and create alibis. Based on the above rough numbers, it is a reasonable estimate that in the US probably more than 25% of convicted rapists are in fact innocent, while a good 25% or so are the type of “pseudo-rapist” described above. And of course while far from all rape convicts will go to jail, their criminal record and the sheer opprobrium associated with rape will generally create multiple problems for them for the rest of their lives such as finding a job, maintaining good relations with friends and family, and wooing romantic prospects. In fact even a false rape accusation can wreck lives because whereas women are allowed to remain anonymous, the accused does not have that same privilege. Now I know this concept of the “pseudo-rapist” is going to get me flak from the feminists but what can you do. Alcohol lowers inhibitions. People might do stupid things when they’re drunk, but they never do things that they don’t actually want to do – including those which are highly embarrassing in sober retrospect. Whereas female behavior in modern times is highly slutty (not that I’m complaining! – at least personally…) this goes against the human evolutionary heritage – not to mention the superstructure created by the traditional private property system – which prizes female chastity. Men simply do not prize women who sleep around a lot, so they have a biological imperative to protect their sexual reputations in order to get committed, higher quality mates. In a tiny minority of cases – but which constitute a sizable number in proportion to the number of real rapes! – this means that making a false rape accusation is preferable to a woman than letting it be known that she happily slept with the poor beta/omega bastard while blind drunk.[168]

The idea at least 25% of male convicted rapists are innocent in the US is not supported by any study. While a 2017 study found "wrongful convictions in cases with a sexual assault component occurred at a rate of 11.6 percent"; this was based on cases from the 1970s and 1980s predating modern DNA-testing.[169][170]

Karlin has defended Brett Kavanaugh and adjudicated rapist:[171] Donald Trump from sexual assault allegations. In an article titled "Is Brett Kavanaugh a Rapist?", Karlin claims "Kavanaugh almost certainly raped nothing except SJW feelz" and describes the rape allegations against Kavanaugh as a "witch hunt".[172]

In another provocative article on rape titled "Fraud of America's "Rape Culture", Karlin says "I think that the higher-end (i.e. 25%+) estimates for false rape accusations, far from being the products of MRM chauvinist hysteria, are in fact the most credible ones today."[173]

Karlin's controversial views on rape are nonsurprisingly shared by incels and his writings are quoted by incel, MRM and manosphere bloggers.[174]

He has been described as an "original incel theorist".[175]

Anti-veganism and anti-vegetarianism

Karlin's apartment with leather furniture.

Karlin firmly opposes veganism and vegetarianism.[176] He does not eat pork, but says he eats beef, chicken and fish.[177]

Karlin promotes the paleo diet and Atkins diet:

…paleo, Atkins, 4HB-type dietsWikipedia are the way to go. Lazy fat people who want to rationalize and excuse their own obesity tend to hate it, as do many vegetarians with their misplaced empathy.[178]

He has spent his time trolling vegans by saying he is eating beef:

I have consciously begun consuming more beef just to trigger these climate change moralists. It gives me pleasure to think I am canceling out the efforts of some Green vegan loser just through eating what I enjoy anyway. Helping bring about a warmer, wetter world is a nice bonus.[179]

I am eating more beef, not just because it's healthy and delicious, but because I get a warm feeling, a real sense of pleasure, knowing that I'm voiding the efforts of some Green vegan loser in the West - as well as doing my small part to help Tropical Hyperborea along.[180]

Karlin has claimed that vegetarianism makes people weak and reduces their IQ.[181] This idea is not supported by scientific evidence.

Similar to Edward Dutton, he believes veganism is associated with mental illness:

In reality, it is veganism that is associated with mental illness, e.g.:

Michalak, Johannes, Xiao Chi Zhang, and Frank Jacobi. 2012. “Vegetarian Diet and Mental Disorders: Results from a Representative Community Survey.” The International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity 9 (June): 67.[182]

Despite his opposition to veganism and vegetarianism, in 2021 Karlin reinvented himself as an animal rights activist describing his politics as "animal rights" on his social media.[183] However, Karlin supports the carnivore diet and a video from March 2022 shows his apartment as containing leather furniture.[184]

Karlin is fond of beef broth.[185] In December 2022, Karlin posted that he believes eating fish, chicken and beef outweighs the suffering involved.[27] Karlin supports flawed health studies that are funded by the beef industry[186], for example he approvingly cited research from Bradley C. Johnston who authored discredited studies on red meat and failed to disclose his food industry ties.[187][188]

Karlin has posted meat dishes he eats on social media including lamb, beef and chicken.[189][190][191][192] Despite claiming he does not eat from pigs this is contradicted by dishes he eats with bacon fat.[193]

In 2023 he defended lamb consumption, commenting "sheep are just walking bleating meatbags so no problem with mutton/lamb".[26]

Entomophagy

Anatoly Karlin supports entomophagyWikipedia (consumption of insects) and personally eats insects such as crickets:

I was eating bugs before it was "cool" and woke (ordered freeze dried crickets from Amazon & experimented with various recipes a few times). Now a onetime eccentrism has been ruined and annulled by virtue signaling Western psychopaths like everything else.[24]

Global-warming denial

See the main article on this topic: Global warming

Karlin rejects the scientific consensus on climate change and argues that global-warming is a good thing totally ignoring negative effects that massively outweigh positives.[194]

Tropical Hyperborea

See the main article on this topic: Hyperborea
Anatoly Karlin supports increasing methane and CO2 emissions

Karlin has made a bunch of irrational tweets where he disregards the harmful effects of global-warming and wants to increase carbon and methane emissions in Northern Europe, Greenland and Russia as a "Tropical Hyperborea":

Global warming will make Russia into Tropical Hyperborea. All Russian patriots must support global warming.[195]

Liberals become gay when they start ranting about carbon taxes (we need Tropical Hyperborea) and now taxing meat and shit like that.[196]

One more reason (if indeed any are still needed) why global warming is good and we need Tropical Hyperborea.[197]

Have more children, more CO2, more global warming, faster immamentization of Tropical Hyperborea.[198]

He wants to create a "tropical Hyperborea" in Russia.[199][200]

In an article titled "Tropical Hyperborea Cometh" Karlin outlines his bizarre reasons why he thinks global warming is good for Russia:

In reality, I think the increase will be even steeper, because the loss of Arctic sea ice is proceeding far faster than even the most "pessimistic" climate models projected. The IPCC forecast ice-free Arctic summers in the late 21st century under a high emissions scenario, but linear projections of the past decade’s trends suggest that could be achieved as early as 2020. The Northern Sea Route is 35% shorter than the southern route, you don’t have to pay a toll at Suez, nor brave pirates off the Somali coast. It will be ultra-competitive once the ice is gone. Even non-summer shipping will be increasingly viable thanks to Russia’s growing nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet.

This is just the start. As the century progresses there will hopefully be intensive agricultural development, demographic settling, exploitation of the methane reserves in the permafrost and oceanic floor clathrates. This will hopefully accelerate warming further in a virtuous cycle. More warming means more carbon dioxide, more crops due to the carbonization effect, higher humidity leading to more rain (historically, it was colder periods of the Earth’s history that were associated with droughts/civilization collapses).[201]

These claims are all dubious:

  • While some northern regions in Russia could theoretically see their agricultural productivity improve with increased carbon emissions, but "any gains in agricultural productivity farther north could be offset by drought and wildfire in southern and western Russia and by the effect of melting permafrost on the country’s irrigation patterns, confounding any hopes of increased grain production."[202]
  • The idea that crops will grow with extra CO2, while theoretical, is disputed; a 17-year experiment on California flowers and grasslands found that plants growing with extra heat or CO2 did not grow more.[203]
  • Warming and thawing of the frozen ground causes problems for infrastructure, such as roads and pipelines.[204][205]
  • Forest fires and flash floods have already ravaged swathes of Siberia because of global-warming.
  • Melting of permafrost in Russia's north could alter river flow patterns to create water shortages.
  • As the permafrost in northern Russia retreats and sea levels rise, the country is reportedly losing 468 square kilometers to erosion every year resulting in destruction of coastal communities.
  • The view that polar-melting will be good for commercial shipping overlooks increased mobile hazards such as icebergs.

Karlin seems to not care that polar melting is detrimental to wildlife such as loss of polar-bear habitat; glacier retreat also increases the risk of reductions in seasonal freshwater availability to indigenous circumpolar peoples[206] and melting of permafrost negatively affects them in many other ways.[207]

Overpopulation denial

See the main article on this topic: Overpopulation
Nobody really knows the carrying capacity of our industrial world economy - all we can say for sure is that we are still far below the limits to growth. My guesstimate is that the planet can support 100 billion people.
—@akarlin88[208]

Karlin argues human carrying capacity is 100 billion[209] — a fringe view supported by very few scientists. Van Den Bergh & Rietveld (2004) performed a meta-analysis of 94 academic studies of human carrying capacity estimates and found only 11 (12%) are 100 billion or more. In contrast, 50 (53%) are under 10 billion and the median is 7.7 billion, while 2 to 3 billion is modal.[210] Similar figures were calculated in a 1995 study that showed the median was between 7-12 billion.[211] Although estimates widely vary for carrying capacity, most scientists appear to agree that human carrying capacity has either already been reached or will be by 2050. Karlin however disagrees that humans are overpopulated now or will be in the near-future.

Karlin's overpopulation denial seems to stem from his worldview as a capitalist who equates population growth with economic growth; his goal is increasing Russia's population by billions to compete with China and the US economy:

I don't buy the arguments that we've exceeded the Earth's carrying capacity, there's plenty of unused capacities. Russia by itself can support at least a billion people, probably several. Seriously competing with China, the US, and India is unrealistic with a population of 145mn.[212]

He also supports increasing birth/fertility rates across Europe to "help preserve white majorities" and "benefit whites and help Europeans maintain majorities in their historic homelands"[97] — a standard white nationalist and alt-right view, yet because of the stigma attached to the label of white nationalism, Karlin instead prefers just "Russian nationalist".

Karlin has written, "Hopefully 2019 will mark a final turnaround in the fertility collapse" in Russia.[213]

Age of consent and sexual attraction to 14 year olds

In a creepy tweet made in 2014 when in his late 20s, Karlin posted he finds Petro PoroshenkoWikipedia's daughters, at the time who were only 14, to be "quite hot":

Poroshenko a fecund man: 2 sons, 2 daughters. And the daughters are quite hot.[214]

The tweet was commented on at the time by various people who found it disturbing:

you are talking about a 14 yrs old child you freaking weirdo[214]

They're 8thgraders[214]

hot? they are 14…[214]

However, Karlin doesn't want to lower the age of consent to 14 in his country and has written that he thinks the age of consent should be 16 (the current legal minimum age in Russia).[215]

Anti-LGBT

Karlin has written numerous homophobic blog posts on his website.[216] One of these is titled "Why Homosexuality Shouldn’t Be Promoted" in which he claims there is a connection between homosexuality and pedophilia.[77]

Karlin has described himself as a homophobe and has quoted a study that he interprets as saying "homophobia is a natural part of the human condition."[217]

He has criticised Tommy Robinson for going on stage at an anti-Islam rally with a transexual.[218]

Transhumanism and eugenics

See the main articles on this topic: Transhumanism and Eugenics
What is wrong about modifying your population to be healthier and more intelligent?[219]
—Anatoly Karlin

Karlin supports eugenics, but clarifies he only supports voluntary and incentive-based eugenics, not coercive.

Spiteful mutant hypothesis

On 13 August 2020 Karlin appeared with Edward Dutton on The Jolly Heretic livestream to discuss their similar views and the spiteful mutant hypothesis.[220] Karlin has also promoted the spiteful mutant idea on his social media.[221] What attracts Karlin to the spiteful mutant theory is probably his own psychological projection — the theory primarily attacks childless individuals who it claims are maladaptive and bad because they have not passed on their genes. Karlin however has no children of his own despite being 36.

HBD ("human-biodiversity") pseudoscience

Karlin identifies as a hereditarian and "race realist". In his articles he promotes the pseudoscientific work of discredited individuals associated with the Mankind Quarterly such as Gerhard Meisenberg.[222] He lists his main influences as the controversial psychologist J. Philippe Rushton and Charles Murray, co-author of The Bell Curve.[223][224] One of his favourite books is Rushton's Race, Evolution, and BehaviorWikipedia that he claims "is still, perhaps, the book about the validity of HBD theory... this book raised my confidence in the HBD view of reality from “likely” to “almost certain.”[224] The book however is widely regarded by psychologists and anthropologists to be racist pseudoscience.[225][226] Concerning race and intelligence, Karlin has posted "I went from considering it primarily but *not exclusively* cultural (already a very un-PC view, esp. in 2010) to around ~50%/50% racial/cultural."[227]

As a HBD proponent, Karlin holds pseudoscientific views on racial origins. In December 2019 he appeared in a video interview about HBD and discussed his views.[228] Near the beginning of the video, Karlin erroneously claims three major races of humans exist and split from each other 50,000 years ago. This racialist idea has been discredited, for example, one study showed: "Because of the extensive evidence for genetic interchange through population movements and recurrent gene flow going back at least hundreds of thousands of years ago, there is only one evolutionary lineage of humanity and there are no subspecies or races under either the traditional or phylogenetic definitions."[229] Karlin however still clings to pseudoscientific racialism.

RationalWiki

Karlin has rather bizarre and contradictory views about RationalWiki.

In January 2017 he requested for a RationalWiki entry claiming he felt "left out" without one.[230]

In February 2018, his article was created and he claimed to like the page at the beginning of 2019:

You can certainly call me a fascist, or even a super-fascist like Evola, if you wish - I don't mind. However, accurately defined, I am merely a Russian nationalist. PS. I do like my RationalWiki profile, though it's nowhere near as good as Sailer's.[231]

In June 2019, however, he did a 180-degrees turn and started complaining about having an article, now calling it a "hit-piece":

I know that I am a small fish and all. But even in my case, Google spits out the RationalWiki hit piece on me (written by an actual basement dwelling troll) before my Unz column or even my own fucking website literally titled "Anatoly Karlin."[232]

He's spent the past three years whining about this page and attacking editors of the article on his social media.[citation NOT needed]

The label "alt-right"

Anatoly Karlin's main disagreement with this page is it labels him alt-right (documented above) which he denies ever being:

I have never distanced myself from the Alt Right because I never identified with the Alt Right. How can I distance myself from something I'm not.[233]

Just to clarify, I'm not Alt Right, let alone interested in doing PR and minority outreach for them.[234]

Karlin's denial is contradicted by the fact he created an alt-right podcast (even describing it as such):

I and a couple of my friends here, Kirill Nesterov and @pigdog, have recently started up a podcast to discuss Russian politics from an Alt Right and HBD/IQ-realistic perspective in /pol/’s irreverent and semi-ironic style.[235]

And the fact he has openly admitted to agreeing with the vast majority of the alt-right:

Although I do not strictly consider myself Alt Right (or NRx), I do support about 70% of their positions, so I was happy to turn up with them to troll my alma mater.[236]

One might therefore wonder what Karlin's pointless denial is based on. The answer can be found in tweets he's made:

The Alt Left considers itself a subset of the wider Alt Right but with less thot hate and more rocket ships and radical life extension.[237]

Whats the best label here? [Alt-left] Basically, we are talking Leftism with less cuckoldry. Or Alt Right with fewer swastikas.[238]

For "optics" Karlin prefers to label himself as alt-left[239][240] which he describes as the alt-right only minus overt neo-Nazism and extreme misogyny.

In October 2021, Karlin was so concerned about being linked to neo-Nazism he removed the "88" digits in his Twitter username:

AK: I changed it to @akarlin0. The “88” has become more trouble than it’s worth.[241]

2023 activity

Anatoly Karlin in 2023
Tolerance and diversity is the only path to prosperity.
—Anatoly Karlin in 2023, trolling his Twitter followers.[242]

In January 2023, Karlin suddenly said he was changing many of his views. He now claims to support no immigration controls or "open borders" for all countriesDo You Believe That? and has tried to deny his racist past.[243] He says Europe needs to become more ethnically diverse but criticizing immigration and multiculturalism for years.[244] He also claims people need to be more tolerant and says that he is playing a "leading role in this transformation".[245] Karlin has also changed the location of his Twitter account from Moscow, to the words "open borders." All this is an act by Karlin in an attempt to troll his Twitter followers.

Karlin was a Putin fanatic for most of his life, describing himself as a "pro-Putin conservative"[246] and even contributed to a book Putin's New Russia (2012)[247] but has now come out against Putin saying "I want to be rid of him and everyone associated with him as soon as the war is over".[248] He now criticizes sinophobes and accuses others of being racist on Twitter.[249][250][251][252]

Commentators on "Karlin community" on The Unz Review are sceptical about Karlin's claim he is now pro-immigration and opposes racism.[253][254] Some consider his claim to support immigration to be trolling. Regardless, Karlin still associates with far-right figures. For example, he still tweets support for Steve Sailer[255] and appeared in January 2023 on a podcast with Noah Carl.[256]

Karlin's claim to be an anti-racist and him erratically now labelling other individuals racist has also been met with ridicule on social media among his own followers:

As a side note, people who said that they're not attracted to black women and almost view them as a different and separate species shouldn't accuse *other* people of being racist lol![257]

Karlin now blocks people on Twitter who mention his racist past and denies the 88 in his old Twitter handle (@Karlin88) had anything to do with neo-Nazism.[258]

A revealing retweet by Karlin perhaps shows why he now pretends to support multiculturalism:

The idea of a nationalist coming up with multiculturalism only sounds strange if you suffer from some kind of universalist delusions; it makes a lot of sense to make the people around you less nationalist if you're a member of another nation.[259]

Karlin still identified as a "Russian nationalist" in December 2022 but as of 2023 no longer identifies as a nationalist.[260] Despite posting homophobic comments on the internet for years and describing himself as a homophobe, in May 2023 Karlin trolled his Twitter followers by claiming "I support gay parades in Moscow. Women, gays, minorities are incredible magnets for human capital".[261] Karlin currently spends most of his time talking about artificial intelligence.

Karlin was banned from Discord in August 2023.[262]

Drug addiction

Karlin in May 2023 confessed to glue addiction which he seems to be using as an excuse for his incoherent posts on Twitter.

I suffer from glue addiction. I huff it every day.[263]

I don't support anything, I just huff glue and poast.[264]

In June 2023, Karlin says that his daily glue sniffing has shifted him away from Russian nationalism to join rainbow globalism:

The few times I dosed heavily on LSD I got some inner mental "looseness" (for lack of a better term) but beliefs recrystallized along essentially the same lines one to two days after the trip.

(My recent shift from Russian nationalism to rainbow globalism is non psychotropocally meditated, at least outside copious daily glue huffing.

Loss of Twitter support

After admitting to being a drug addict and shit-poster, Karlin has posted many incoherent statements such as claiming he supports LGBT and transexuals for "elite human capital".[265][266] This has confused some of his alt-right followers who dismiss him as a troll.

Elite Human Capitalism

Karlin has invented his own political philosophy that he termed "Elite Human Capitalism" (EHC). EHC is alleged to support open borders, LGBT+ but also eugenics and racist intelligence research.[267] Karlin says under EHC he is genderless and only exists as an "it". None of it makes any sense as the EHC nonsense apparently originated from Karlin's drug trips.

Karlin promotes EHC on The Unz Review and on Twitter, however his far-right followers are not impressed with his new political philosophy.

EHC is not the “next big thing”, nobody promotes it apart from Karlin. It sounds like bedroom autism to me right now. It’s a nice idea to invent a new political philosophy but there is no point in inventing something that nobody understands.[268]

2024 activity

Karlin describes himself as a "positive eugenicist", and considers "HBD and IQ to be real, and rather important to understanding the world".[7]

Based on his glue sniffing addiction and eccentric views about artificial intelligence, Karlin authored a 55,000 word essay "intellectual restructuring" on his website which denies his racist past and now claims to endorse anti-racism, liberalism, open borders and LGBTQ+ rights with human biodiversity (HBD).[18][19] Karlin describes himself as a proud shill for "GloboHomo".[18] He says he is genderless and identifies as an "it".[21] His essay has been dismissed as nothing more than a troll attempt.

Karlin claims to have distanced himself from his former pro-Putin Russian nationalism as he identifies as a liberal supporting his own political philosophy "Elite Human Capitalism". He says "right-wing ideology tends to attract a disproportionate amount of oddballs, weirdos, and downright lunatics".[269] However, Karlin still embraces eugenics, HBD and criticizes wokeness.[18]

I cannot reject Human Biodiversity (HBD) or go fully Woke, because the former is objectively true (extensively replicated) and the latter is objectively ridiculous (at least in its most visible and extreme manifestations that right-wing grifters make a career of mocking).[18]

Part of Karlin's essay (influenced by Richard Hanania) is titled "Why I Used to Suck, and (Hopefully) Now Suck Even Harder".[18] Karlin has appeared on Hanania's podcast to discuss his alleged change in views.[21] According to Hanania:

Anatoly tells me about his decision to identify as an it/it and his calls for Russia to embrace LGBT as a way to align with the West and signal its new path forward. I ask how much he is trolling here, and the answer appears to be not all that much.

Apart form Hanania nobody has taken Karlin's trolling attempt seriously.

In January 2024, Karlin was up to his usual behaviour, promoting and retweeting eugenicists and far-righters such as Richard Hanania, Emil Kirkegaard, Noah Carl and Diana Fleischman, so it is obvious that he hasn't really changed his views.[270][271]

Vitalia conference

On 29 Feburary 2024, Karlin gave a speech at a Vitalia conference promoting dubious ideas about IQ by far-right eugenicists, white nationalists and hereditarians including Bo Winegard, Emil Kirkegaard, Michael Woodley and Russell T. Warne.[31]

Notes

  1. His old Twitter username akarlin88 is noteworthy in that the "88" is a reference to Nazism: see Fourteen Words.
  2. Specifically, Karlin has supported melting Greenland's ice sheet and Siberia's permafrost for agricultural development and building cities. He further wanted to melt sea ice in the Arctic for commercial shipping.
  3. White guardist refers to the counter-revolutionaries who fought the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War.[70]
  4. Karlin's goal to "preserve white majorities" in European countries by increasing white birth rates is a main tenet of white nationalism.
  5. Normally transliterated as Beness Aijo,Wikipedia a Latvian-born Russian citizen with Ugandan and Russian ancestry.
  6. After Karlin started blogging about HBD, his website attracted white nationalists and other racist basement dwellers in the comments section. Instead of deleting or censoring their racist comments like any normal person would do, he wrote a blog post "Policy On Racism", mostly defending them. According to Karlin the boundary between "race realism" and racism is blurry and because of that, "I will not as a general rule be censoring racist comments, unless they are couched in the most explicit and offensive language."
  7. For Britain was one of Britain's most right-wing political parties and largely consisted of ex-British National Party members who are neo-Nazis (it's only elected councillor, Julian Leppert is a former BNP party official.)[156] has described many of For Britain's characteristics and policies as "established conventions of both national socialism and far-right ideology."

  110. I am not a White Nationalist, as I am not an American ethnonationalist, which is the main perspective from which it makes sense. But two important points: 1. 111. I think the Alt Right by and large realizes that none or almost none of their political goals are going to be accomplished due to ongoing demographic changes and the failure of Trumpism anyway (e.g. see the NPI's pessimistic 2018 outlook), so if they can't have an ethnostate they will at least take their $1,000.
